I don't know for sure because this is the first time of me hearing about anything like this to the camera but it looks like it might be a hardware issue. I know you said that you've never dropped it or anything like that but did you happen to leave it in the sun with the camera facing up at it or anything like that?
If it's still under warranty then take it to the sprint store....After unrooting and going back to the stock rom of course AND they should be able to either replace your EVO or fix it if they know how to.
[EDIT]
If you feel up to the task of doing it yourself then here's where to buy the front facing camera for 17 dollars, I'm sure if you google it too, you'll find the know how to replace it without messing anything up too bad.

Thank you for the help Brother....its just wierd happened today all of the sudden...the last picture i was able to take was one of my new pioneer cdj 800 mk2s...i've only had the phone for less than a year so yes it should be under warranty
I wonder if its something to do with the light sensor??
Try to clear your cache+dalvik and then see if it works. If that doesn't work wipe your cache + dalvik then flash another kernel.
If that still doesn't work. Nandroid backup, and try flashing another ROM. Wipe data + cache + dalvik.
If all of these don't fix it, then its definitely a hardware issue.
Thank you for your help...i tried all your suggestions and no luck....i think there is an issue with the light sensor or the focus because it only happens when its auto focusing must definately be a hardware issue...going to unroot to take to sprint store...Thanks

Give rooting a try lol it looked like a someone stuck a magnet to it. If you root it and it does it again then unroot and take it back.
0004 had something fixed with the camera or so I read on google. Not to much info on it.
question for you reaper if you don't mind....i know that unrevocked flashes clockword mod i dont know some old version.... is there anyway to make clockwork flash anon recovery in one shot i hear that anon is much better at wiping data also what rom do you suggest? when i root probably gonna put myn warm 2.2 RL5

Here you go man Amon 2.3 put it on your sd card and boot into hboot and let it install it. This wipes everything so no problems like others have using roms.
Can flash and backup things with it also.
I like Elite 3 seems to be my favorite of all times there are to many new builds out there of the leaked GB thing there too buggy.
Myns is good so is Elite 3.
PM ME if you need help bro.
Take it to a Sprint repair location and have them push the camera module back down onto the board. That'll fix it.

This entire thread has been helpful for me! THANK YOU ALL!!!!
Funny that you mention this issue. I had the same exact problem. I skimmed through the Net and find this quick fix.
Launch your camera and press menu. Uncheck autofocus and face detection. Exit camera. Problem solved.
For the record, these setting will stay this way until you either change your rom or change the settings again.
I hope this helps.

Ok so I am having problems with my screen calibration. Whether I flash clean with cw or RA my calibration is off.
If I lay my phone flat it goes 270. And I can barely get it to go 90. I really do not want to go back to sense ever.
I will pay for a fix or calibration app.
Have tried going back to fresh and using g calibration under settings/display. After that orientation is great. But as soon as I flash any cm6 rc2 or latest nightly then calibration is so bad that it is almost unuseable.
About to try new nightly and hope for the best. I hate sense more than I ever knew.
tried new nightly and no luck. about to flash ruu and start over i guess.
Are you talking about calibrating the touch screen or the orientation(accelerometer)?
sorry i am referring to the orientation.
Flashing the RUU won't help. I had the same problem and it bothered me so much I just turned rotation off. I think it's just a bug (or an oversight) in CM6. Hopefully, Cyanogen will take care of it before an ofish release.

glad to know someone else is having this issue.
really makes me mad because cm6 was flawless on my last evo.
so i am thinking there is a way to workaround it. I am looking into maybe an adb command or something to calibrate it or find a way to pull the calibration from stock rom.
Settings > Display > G-sensor settings
Enjoy.

If you didn't read the post they have tried that already.
Personally I think you should maybe try a wipe and a different rom/kernel setup. I don't know what is available for the evo atm but surely there is a fix without needing to write a completely new calibration app. Good luck.
Edit: watch for a sky raider port if one isn't out already its about a million times better than cm 6 at least on the incredible.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
problem is there is no calibration setting inside of cm6. and like op i tried using it on a sense rom then going back to cm6 with no luck.
Just like the title says, I'd like to unroot and go back to factory defaults like it was fresh out of the box. I've already messed up quite a few things on it and would just like to start over ~_~

did u do a back up?
sadly i did not, I was messing with overclocking and somehow messed up some permissions and i'm kinda stuck in a loop. Not sure how to enable read/write to my system while in a root explorer and adb is just giving me some weird message about color being incorrect when I try to access system... bleh, could always be worse, at least i'm not bricked yet right? heh

I tried that once with my old G1 and I've had mixed experiences, sometimes I would get MD5 checks that didn't match up and once actually backed up my step fathers G1 while rooting his and ended up accidentally loading it up on mine.
Worth a shot I guess.
you can use someone else's backup, but the unroot threads all tell you the order in which you need to do things, without searching and reading you will never do anything on your own which is ridiculous. there are a few different threads that tell you how to unroot your phone if you just read everything through it will all make sense

He did a little too much tweaking and has it phone hosed up.
Best of luck to him. I am sure he will now do a back up before messing with things. I have opted to do that every time now with Rom Manager. Its nice to be able to revert quickly.
I did the CM 6.1 RC1 but GPS and battery life not so good. Luckily I had a Backup that I was able to restore days later. With the assistance of Titanium I get everything else set up. Email is no big deal as I have exchange and Gmail.
Please see this thread. I had used this to reset my G2 back to stock and then went ahead and rooted it with rage.

Many can, but for best purposes, why? You can have a lovely rooted, stock version that I believe they just updated. Otherwise look at qbking's vidoes on Odin/Heimdall to stock. No real reason to, unless you plan to sell or repair it.
When was this update?
And lately i havent been receiving any texts and was worried that it may have something to do with being rooted? idk..
and i know nothing about rooting/unrooting so when the day comes and i have to use my warrenty, id like to know how to unroot it.

Check the dev section, but not receiving texts may be an issue way easier than going back to stock. Also, be sure to state anything you've played with that makes you think it could be attached to s/u status. Lots of people will be happy to walk you through a variety of things that won't make you lose all your data.
honestly i love the whole rooted idea. I rooted my phone to use a screenshot app..but i feel like i can do more with it...the thing is..idk how. I wish i can get themes on my phone but everything seems so complicated. I probably wont unroot now...but since we're both here, any ideas on how to add themes to my phone? and maybe even reset to the default theme.

Did you flash a Rom after you rooted? What instructions did you go by? Be aware, it's 12:33 here and your questions may get differred to everyone else until morning. If you're on certain main Roms, you might be able to easily flash to either a new Rom or theme with little effort. This is where it can get tricky though and retracing your steps out loud will help people walk you to what you need until you get more acclimated to searching and "shopping" for what you what in here. remember your thanks, donations and verbal support, people like to help here

but I don't think you should. There are plenty of good roms that you can use to make your phone better than a stock phone.

Nothing is complicated about putting ROMs or Themes on your phone Its developing them that is Complicated!
Follow the link in my sig to qbkings videos and you will be wondering why you thought it was complicated to begin with!

As long as you have a backup of your data on your card, your phone will live on as it did when you last clicked the wrong button. Bricking is everyone's biggest fear, but mostly because it's an inconvenience not a sentence.

The Root is right. The word "brick" is used too much. I can only remember a couple of people actually bricking a phone thus making it useless. 95% of the problems can be fixed with Odin. I didn't know a damn thing 6 months ago. I had to Google "rooting your phone." Now I test ROMs,themes, and kernels for developers. I could never go back to stock now. Rooting really frees the phone to make it your own. Flashing ROM's, themes, and kernels is easy and if you have any questions, there are people like me that are glad to help. Also, qbking makes great videos if you are a visual learner or want to see the process before you do it.

Hey all,
i have a little problem since the world wide update for 4.1 JB - when i take pictures the flash causes the picture to become green! i know its a problem with Custom roms but mine is an original update from the server. the pictures looks like it was taken at the Matrix..haha
well its nice for effects but for real its annoying...how do i get rid of it??
BTW uploaded a pic when i tried to snap shot the cover for a friend of mine
thank you!
Another one confirming same problem as i have, and i have seen people with HOX+ also having this.
Problem seemse to be KERNEL related. ICS works great on my phone with flash but when i load any version of JB Sense i get greenish images like yours.
This is a REAL PROBLEM but apperantly no-one is noticing it besides me and some isolated users. Either people dont notice ( how can you not?) or they dont use flash that often.
I realy hope the .27 build fixes this. If i get official JB and this problem persists i realy hope HTC gets around fixing this.
Btw. this seems to be a problem with handsets all the time, small problems but still something in particular HTC have a issue with.
I can confirm this is NOT a HARDWARE issue, changing kernels fixes it so it has to do with post processing - a B/W image looks just right but with the green boosted up way to much.
Try change sarturation to max/min aswell as iso 100/800.
tnx for your answer!
its obviously not HARDWARE problem, because the regular pics goes perfect!
i tried it all - non worked its still the same...
i guess ill be waiting for a new update to come or maybe go rogue and install an unofficial ROM...
the same Something with software.
thats not fun \=
well i have posted a new question for help on HTC main Facebook page, and showed them this thread i hope we all get final answers for that itchy bug :cyclops:
Same problem
I have the same problem with stock JB...
It's software and to do with the flash bleeding, on SLR you get a florescent filter but try this.
Go take picture again this time press the cog and go to white balance, change that from auto to florescent.
Let me know if that works, I can't get mine to do it to test.
