I've searched the forum and came across a few threads but didn't quite answer my question. I just would like to know is it necessary to have cricket service first and if not what protocols would I have to follow to get service on my evo?
I looked over my post and maybe I didn't make my self clear on what I was trying to do. I want to put cricket service on me evo. I rooted my evolution and I know how to put the Tom and all of the necessary packages on it. I just want to know if I have to have the service first or it doesn't matter.

I'm thinking of rooting my EVO but I don't know how to and I don't know how to unroot if I had too. I'm hoping to get some good info and maybe some links..

Read thru the Dev sec there are threads on how to unroot

All the info is here. You are in the right place. Check out the dev section and you will find exactly what you are looking for. I started right where you are at and came here, but instead of asking people to show me the links, I read and read and read every post in the dev section that had to do with rooting and unrooting. Now both are very easy for me. I suggest that you go to the dev section and look for [ROOT] at the beginning of the thread title and read them all. That's what everyone else did and I seriously doubt someone is going to give you all the links to root your EVO.
Why would you want to unroot your EVO? I've never wanted to go back.

Don't know about any roms, but my buddy who works for metro told me people go in all of the time with Sprint phones and request to bring it to their network including Evos. From what I understand, you can just take it to Metro and they'll do it for you. I don't know how accurate that is, but give it a shot.
i have called a couple places they told me no

As he suggested, browse the metro pcs thread, since you can't actually post there yet. I too have no knowledge on it, sorry.
I hope Im not posting in the wrong forum seeing as porting the epic over to boost is in here. I am sick of sprints ****ty service and am trying to find information on how to transfer it over to straight talk. Does anyone have any idea how to do this and if you can help me/make a tutorial like porting to boost i will donate some
Wrong forum bro
Search boost on dev section
You will find your answer there

ok thanks guys...if a mod would please move this forum to Q&A that would be great...just figured since porting to boost was posted here maybe porting to straight talk would be also...I saw the porting to boost thread but I am looking to port to straight talk...has anyone done it or is it even possible?
Moved to Q&A.
I have a feeling that this probably isn't as easy as porting to boost. because Boost Mobile uses Sprint's network. I believe Straightalk uses Verizon, and that they do not allow the activation of non straighttalk phones.
sprintsuxSTftw!
did you find more on this? i am in the same boat
Yea we need to get more info on this. I'm sure there are a lot of people whose contracts are expiring in 2012 that will be jumping ship to straight talk.
I got a few more months in my 2 year agreement and then I am out to cheaper carrier like Straight Talk, Boost or Virgin.
The samsung precedent which is straight talk runs on the sprint network..anythings possible

Hey Guys,
I been a member here for a while and dont really ever find the need to post anything because you guys answer my question in other peoples problems This time I am stumped. I cannot ge this phone fixed.
I have a Spring Samsung Galaxy S2 (Epic 4G Touch) that was flashed fully working for Page Plus. This was unknown to me when I got the phone and was asked to fix it. I flashed the stock rom back to it (HOME_SPH-D710_CL852097_user.tar) using odin. Thats when i learned it was a page plus phone.
So my question is, how can i get this phone to work on Page Plus again. I assume it was flashed with a donor phone that i do not have access to.
Thanks for reading this far and any help you can provide.
Also,
My friend is OK if I can make the phone work on boost if that is an option. I flashed a boost rom thinking it was a sealed deal......nope.
APN and MMSC settings have to be correct. Just flashing a ROM does not set the provider settings.

OK. Thats a good start.
Do you or anyone have these settings and the know how of how to change them?
I don't know the settings. There are a few tutorials in the general section. Google could help or our very own search function.
You may have wiped out the Pp flash with odin. That will require a new donor phone to fix. The APN and MMSC settings will need to be set after. But chances are you just need to set those as I am not sure if going completely back to stock wipes a provider flash.

I have flashed a page plus prl using QPST and that at least got the phone services running. Talk and text. still no data and mms.
I have googled and changed the APN and MMSC settings with no change in functionality. And I have gotten the sprint hands free activation to stop bothering me.
If the info is out there, I have googled my eyes out. Can anyone spoon feed this information if they have it.
I need data and MMS working on this messed up Epic 4G touch.\
Thanks again!
