Hello.
I just got my Desire and been trying to buy some app, but it seems like I have access only to the free apps, I cannot see any paid app.
Even upgrade (free -> paid) doesn't work. For example, I have tapatalk installed, tried to reply to a thread and the app told me that can be done only if the app is paid. So I choosed to pay, but it brought me to a page which namely doesn't exists.
Anyone having this issue?
Download MarketEnabler or MarketAccess and set it to fake your carrier. This requires root though.
Can you please give me a link to a thread where are instructions how to install MarketEnabler or MarketAccess? I searched the forums, but those terms are used in so many of them :/
Link to MarketAccess: http://amip.tools-for.net/wiki/android/marketaccess
I prefer the former over MarketEnabler because of the cleaner interface and because it's ad-free.
Hi, Is there a way to re-link free apps to the market without having a TiBu backup w/ link (to use with the Market Doctor) and without having to reinstall every app that is missing the link?
Or even an app that will show me which ones aren't link and allow me to reinstall them from the market?
Thank you.
I think I read somewhere that when people had done a complete wipe on their phone, they then went to set it back up and a screen asked them if they wanted to use the Google backup and restore. Not sure where the info is stored, but you can go to menu - settings - privacy to see what i am talking about.
Try an app called "Root Tools", I saw in the market comments that it helped a few people restore their market links. A recent update took the entirely free app and made some options paid (without warning, and before this there wasn't a paid version) so I reverted. If that's now a paid feature let me know and I'll upload the old apk. I'm not a pirate and don't consider that pirating, but some may I guess.

I posted this an another forum, but couldn't generate much discussion. I'm hoping to get some input on this topic. Lately, I've been transitioning to getting most of my apps from Amazon Appstore instead of Google Playstore. I need to make a distinction here, I'm not a fan of Fire OS, just their Appstore experience. Here are some of the reasons why I prefer Amazon Appstore, remember these are my personal experience, you don't have to agree to them:
-Free apps. Playstore have free stuff once a while, but there are so much give away by Amazon and good ones too.
-Coins. Initially I thought the concept of coins were stupid and redundant, but if you have kids or have a single family account that are accessed by multiple person/devices, coins are very useful. You don't need to add credit card info or buy physical gift cards to redeem money, just gift that account some coins and it can purchase apps and online contents. It's a good way to avoid overspending. Also sometimes you get coins bonus from purchases.
-Alphabetic list of apps you purchased and downloaded. IMO, Google purposefully do not list your purchased apps by alphabetic orders so it is harder to search and remember them after you have too many apps, which results in buying more apps. I spent about $500 total for apps and in app purchases over the years on PlayStore, when I want to look through all the apps I bought I have to scroll through a long list of apps completely unsorted. I am aware there are third party apps that can sort Playstore apps, but they are can have bugs when there are updates and are not integrated, I don't want to use them.
-No "license key apps" or "unlocked pro features apps". Sometimes on Playstore when you download a free app, if you want to unlock the pro features you also have to download the license key app, which is not an app in itself, but only serve the purpose of unlocking the pro features. I'm not a fan of this and it's clumsy design imo. It seems Amazon doesn't allow this and instead have them as in app purchases. I actually like the IAP implementation by Amazon, you can disable IAP all together, which is useful if you have kids or just hate IAPs. I'm actually not sure if Playstore have PIN code for quick purchases, I remember that option used to exist in the older Playstore versions, but it's convenient to make Amazon purchases with a PIN.
-Does not require joining social network to review apps or sync your games. It is ludicrous that Google required you to join Google+ to review Playstore apps or use "Play Games" feature. Amazon have game syncing features that keep scores and savegames as well, you only need to log into your Amazon account. I don't want Google+ enable for my private email, but I already purchased many Playstore contents on it, so I'll have to continue to use it, unless Google allows me to transfer all my Playstore purchases from one email to another.
-Lastly, this might sound stupid, but it have it's benefits. With Amazon Appstore, you can access to your apps on both Android and Amazon devices. The key difference here is unlike trying to get a Google services to work on a Kindle devices, vice versa you don't have to do any hackery or unsupported trials to get Amazon Appstore to work on Android devices, it just work immediately after sideloading.
I think the biggest factor for me is due to the free apps and coins bonuses, I feel more rewarded when using Amazon Appstore than Playstore. Currently, I do not root my phone any longer, I don't bother with kernel tweaking, that significantly reduces my reliance on the Google Playstore since most of the root apps are there. Except for a few apps, pretty much Playstore is only used for updating Google apps on my Android phone now. One thing that I still feel missing from both stock Android and Fire OS are permission management (without rooting), which why I'm still using CyanogenMod for the Privacy Guard feature.
As for the Fire Phone. I've watched some reviews on this phone, but all of them are from hardcore Android users, so there isn't a bias free view on it. I think Fire OS interface is still dreadful, I've read the bad reviews, but I still want to try it myself. I figure for $100 unlocked (subtract the one year free Prime membership) it'll make a good backup phone considering it have similar specs to the Nexus 5 (except 1080p) which cost 3 times as much. This is not my daily phone, I have multiple other Android phones currently so it's not like I'm limiting myself.
I was an early adopter of Amazon Appstore, but company's shady practices turned me off and I doubt I will put any money into their apps. They did not allow any restrictions on purchases, if kids would use my tablet they could buy anything there and there was nothing I could do. I see a similar trend in Fire Phone, by default it comes registered to your account, using one-click payment. They are ready to take your money even if you do not authorize the purchase yourself.

I notice that they enabled one click purchase automatically after I install Appstore on the device, but it seems I can disable it, and even remotely from "Your Account -> Your Apps and Devices" from Amazon website. I just make sure Parental Control is enabled on all my Amazon devices.
I have to admit one thing I like about Google Playstore is there is a feature where you can request to get refunds on apps you bought that are past their refund period. When I found out about it, I tried to get refund for more than a dozen apps that I either didn't like or no longer updated and got refund for over half of them. Amazon have something called Test Drive to try out app, but it's not the same thing.
It's funny how Google update some of their apps sooner on iOS than on Android, and doesn't support Amazon devices even though it's closer to Android than iOS. I wonder if they will change their mind once Amazon devices gain more market share.

Google apps aren't included in FireOS because it's not 'Google Certified', which it would need include the Play Store, Maps, Gmail, etc.
So either Amazon didn't send FireOS to get certified, it failed the certification process, or Google wouldn't put it though the certification process for some reason.

I think it's more to do with Amazon trying to compete with Google as far as appstores go so why put another appstore on your phone when you want to make the money.

Thought I would share some apps.
These apps are Google Apps for nonrooted devices. I say nonrooted, cause I assume people with rooted devices have already installed these apps.
1) Install Google Accounts Manager, reboot
2) Install Google Services Framework, reboot
3) Install Google Play Services, reboot - Latest working version 7.0.99
4) Install Play Store and login
http://www.4shared.com/rar/xFL01jekce/Google_Apps.html
Side Note: Google Play Store will not function correctly on nonrooted devices, but it still does things in the background so keep it installed. You can now install apps that need Google Play Services to run.
Live TV Streaming Apps. Mobdro, Live Stream Player, Mediahhh and World Sports Streams
http://www.4shared.com/rar/qgiPSrXhba/Live_TV_Streaming.html
Side Note: World Sports Streams uses XMTV Player and MX Player for all streams. I have provided XMTV Player but you will have to install MX Player, cause I use the pro version and I am not giving a paid app for free.
Third Party App Stores. Blackmart, Mobogenie, Aptoide and 1Mobile Market. These are great for installing apps and updating apps without needing Google Play. Also takes away the need for ADB sideloading.

Tips: If you are gonna use the third party app stores do not auto update. Update apps one at a time and look at the version numbers to make sure its an actual update and not a down grade. All the apps I have listed in this post work much better with or require a mouse/touchpad to use.

A few good apps that work well on the fire TV that I think have become essential to my Fire TV experience:
DU Speed Booster
SD Maid
Dock4Droid (Best app I have used on the Fire TV)
AOL On (Not the Fire TV Version)
SPMC
Fast Reboot
8 Ball Pool
Facebook Desktop 2 also called FBD2
MirrorOP Reciever
DU Speed Booster and SD Maid for cleaning. I use DU Speed Booster then SD Maid, cause I have never found a cleaner yet for Android that deletes as much junk as DU Speed Booster, but as with all cleaners there is still junk left so I follow it up by cleaning with SD Maid to get even more junk off my device. No matter what cleaner you use SD Maid can still find more junk that can be deleted so I always use two cleaners. Dock4Droid is probably the best app I have found for the Fire TV. It makes the Fire TV so much better. It adds great multitsking and will also let you see app info from anywhere so that you can delete apps, force close apps or delete their data/cache fron anywhere. AOL On for news videos. Not the Fire TV version the version you get from the Play store or third party app stores. It has hundreds of outlets to lets you watch serveral generas of news. Fast Reboot used together with Dock4Droid is awesome. You can add the Fast Reboot shortcut to Dock4Droid and do a fast reboot from anywhere. 8Ball Pool, cause its like turning your TV into a pool table, and its a great game. Must use a mouse or touchpad to play though. FBD2 gives you a desktop version of Facebook without having to use a browser. I don't use Facebook a lot but when I do I use FBD2. MirrorOP Recever does the same as miracast, but its a backup for people that cannot mirror their device to the Fire TV. Just install MirrorOP Sender on the device you wanna mirror.

can you check that 4shared link? I cant seem to download. Tried 2 different devices. Thanks.
All links are correct. You eiither need a free account or login with Facebook, Twitter etc. If you are downloading them on Android, click the link then click download, but sometime it will take you to a different page for some reason, so hit back once and click download again, then pick free download and then either login to your free account or login through Facebook, Twitter etc.

All links I posted are working. Google drive may be better for you, but I use 4shared. I do not use anything just because someone else thinks its better. If you wanna downloaad the files either create a free account or just use you Facebook, Twitter etc to login to 4shared. I refuse to upoad my files to anoter site just because someeone is too lazy to create an account or connect through their Facebook etc.
Not trying to be rude at all, but I refuse to do anything for someeone who just wants me to make it easier for them to do something. It takes 20 seconds to create a 4shared account and 1 second to connect to 4shared with Facebook or Twitter. I have provided the files so if you want them you will have to download them from 4shared.
That's why I hate 4shared,they force you to (risk privacy) make an account.
It has NOTHING to do with laziness, more about privacy, they even bait you into thinking you could download files without needing an account, only to prompt so.
They used to be GOOD where you didn't have to do stupid stuff just to download a file.
It's like Dropbox pushing you twice to make an account when downloading a file, and it puts the "no thanks" link too far on the screen (Opera for Android via FireTV) where you have to first manipulate it with doubleclick zoom before bringing up the prompt, but at least you don't HAVE to create an account.
In some cases,a 4shared download can be directly accessible without making an account, but I can't remember how the link text looked.
In the near future,I reccommend 2shared,as I always have a great experience with that site.

Actually 4shared added the account login feature to make their site more secure. Also its just an ad that pops up and 99.9% of sites do similar stuff, cause its how they make money from advertisers. They also added the social network connection feature cause it is way more convenient to most people, and they added it because people asked them to add the feature so that they could connect through Facebook etc. There is very few sites or games that do not have the same exact feature that 4shared has, they are even a lot of sites, apps and games that require you to connect using GMail, Facebook or twitter. You would be hardpressed to find a website, app or game that does not require you to either give your email, Facebook, Twitter etc. Also, there is not one major file sharing site that does not either have a popup or a redirect page. The difference is that most of them have a popup which does not get in the way, while 4shared has a redirect instead of the popup. The popup and redirect do the same exact thing, it shows an ad to usually download something, which is not a big deal at all, cause all you have to do is go back one page and continue downloading what you were there to download before the redirect ad popped up. I get redirect ads all the time even on this very site. If popup and redirect ads kept people from using sites then people would basically have to stop using almost every website on the internet. If giving your email or connecting through Facebook is bad then why use XDA, cause they require you to give an email address or connect through Facebook, Twitter etc.

Because I am actually involved in using XDA for replying, making posts, and other useful things, while 4shared is merely a file sharing site,XDA is a community driven forum of developers, testers, and users alike for Android devices of all kinds.
(though I find XDA's current interface frustrating compared to the old design)
It took me a bit just to find the quote button on your post.
At first,I thought it was the " icon, boy was I wrong!

4shared is not just a file sharing site. Its also a place to store media or whatever else you want to store. 4shared does not require any information that any other site doesn't ask for, So I am not sure how you can say they invade your privacy. Every site you use will require you to login to use the functions of that site. 4shared is also used on devices of all kinds, not just android. There is a 4shared app for several different OS platforms. 4shared is a legit site and is not sketchy like most other file storage sites that are basicaly just a place to downlad free movies. 4shared is not rapidshare or one of the other shady sites, and thats why they require you to login. If you notice all the highly illegal sites do not require you to login to upload or download, but 4shared does, cause they are not like those sites. 4shared is more geared towards storage than sharing.
4shared 4shared Just pointing that out... XD
I was just saying it is not a forum,so it shouldn't make an extra 100,000+ people become members just because they needed to download something from it.
Of course you should have to be logged in to upload files, but not for simply downloading them.
Sure, they can make a feature to require one to be logged in to download certain files the uploader marks for requiring it though.

The thing you are not realizing is that 4shared does not force anyone to do anything, cause the internet does not revolve around 4shared. There are hundreds of other ways to get the same files that are on 4shared. You do not have to use 4shared. Every single file that I have linked to 4shared is widely availale in thousands of other places. A search engine is a beautiful thing and if you do not wanna downlad files from 4shared just use google, bing, yahoo or the search provider of you choice to find it elsewhere. Also comparing a forum and a file storage site is apples to oranges. There are also a lot of people that use storage sites a lot more than they use forum sites. You are making a big deal out of nothing. Every legit site makes you login to use their services.
That escalated quickly...
Download from 4shared or find your own files. Pretty simple and straightforward. Don't think we need ten posts about what one likes over another.
With 5 out now we should be able to install the Android TV Launcher, and with it, the Android TV Play store. I tried to sideload the APK from GAPPS but it failed. Perhaps it has other dependencies. Anyone have any suggestions?

well said OP!
some folks are never grateful for what help we can get on here,
and I for one am very chuffed to have found your posting as I own an unrooted (now unrootable) Fire TV
I'm just now downloading both your rar's and look forward to far better times on my box.
Though it never seems to get mentioned, the fire TV uses the Amazon App Store for an app drawer as well as in-app purchases. I was prompted to update mine so I searched for, found, and installed one only to find that the version I installed was for non-fire device tablets only. Now I have to launch all my apps through the settings menu. How can I extract the fire version's APK, and where from?
:The answer to this disaster was for me to open ES File Explorer and from the home screen to go in to apps from the "App" icon. At this point you want to navigate to the App Store icon that represents the user version that was installed on top of the System version. Here it will give you the option of uninstalling, which actually only uninstalls the user update, the pop-up will confirm the detail of this action. This is the easiest way to revert. For me it was the only way since the 3nd user apk I installed over the first 2 prevented me from installing any other version or even going back to the other versions I previously installed all because there has been no access to the Fire OS version of the App Store on any site or archive.
Until now...
Presenting the Amazon FireOS Apk Below
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxBTuEYnt3qeOURfbWdpYVBqLTQ
I spent over 30hrs scavenging the internet through forums, archives, I even called Amazon. They were clueless. This is the only link to it that can be found. I requested on several threads and sent private messages to many of you, where only 1 would even consider to give so much as an "I have no idea what you're talking about" response. Therefore much credit goes to sconnyuk, who was that only person, but that was not his response. He was trying to retrieve it but my new fire device came in the mail before he got a chance to finish. I used my file browser to go into system/priv-app/com.amazon.venezia/ and the copy that original apk, paste it to the download folder and use the application Apps2Fire to send it from one fire device to the other. The problem then was, from the beginning, me being prompted from within an app store game(crossy road by name) that my version of the app store was not the latest, and was out of date. I tried to use the link the game provided but the device refuses to open external links. So I googled it , found the OEM website and downloaded and installed the non-fire version of the app store, and there is no button in the app manager that lets you uninstall updates to system apps like there is on Android phones and tablets. So me, picking and poking, finding other App store versions and trying them out, went from not able to play certain games but now can't even try any other version, the installer would fail faithfully.
I was no longer able to open apps from the launcher, I had to go the app manager every time. My Games refused to open, giving me the "internal error" message. Longpressing the home button and selecting apps was useless. The apps category and the "your apps & games" category from the launcher was pitch black and unacceptable, I mean unaccessible. My kids dropped out of school and started a rap group, my best friend became the first man drafted to the WNBA.. my life was bottomless pit of despair. Now, howevr, my system is back to normal, I got an extra fire device, my kids still rapping but they back in school, and my best friend is still in the WNBA but he's just the mascot now. My life is... weird!
