The answer is yes.
Can you post the link for me please and how I go about adding them?
do a search man... you've made it almost all the way.... first step was getting the phone, then hearing about rooting, then finding xda~..... ..next you get root..and change icons!!!..
good luck.... there's alot to learn~
FolderOrganizer is good for changing icons. You can always get ADW Launcher too.
Not trying to be mean, but look around. Your in the right place. There's an infinite number of threads with mods and instructions.

While the (above) info is helping point you in the right direction (you're in the correct forum)....first off, is your phone rooted? For you to properly "theme" your phone you have to be rooted.
Look at this is you are not rooted. There are different ways to go about it. Read each very carefully.
Many custom roms come with the changes you want built in.
Or you can learn adb commands and pull the framework-res.apk file off the phone and just change them and then push it back. Its that simple

My phone isn't rooted so will I have to accomplish that first or is there a way to do it without rooting?

Its not hard. You install the hboot drivers from unrevoked, install then uninstall htc sync, enable usb debugging on your phone, run unrevoked. Take like 6 minutes.

Ok this is the first time I ever used CM anything. I figured out how to get the gapps but how to integrate my DB contacts with my reg. Ones? I've been on myn's so I don't know what I have been missing. I even read the wiki on this.
1. Fb integration
2. Changing toggles in notification bar.
3. Finding a red/black theme
4. Swype for cyan ?
5. Anything else useful I should know.
Please and thank you! (I'll be sure to hit the thank button if you help me.)

By DB contacts do you mean from a microsoft exchange account? Best to export them to a .vcf file and import them to your phone.
1. install facebook, under settings, accounts and sync, check the sync contacts box. That'll link it.
2. Settings, cyanogenmod settings, interface, notification power widget.
3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11760329#post11760329
4. Go onto swype's website, sign up NOW, they'll send you an email with instructions. Do it now because its a beta that will close soon. Its still free.
5. Enjoy it.

I flashed the themes from the destroyer ROM over CM7 and they work great as well. They will give you a lot of options, about 13 in the theme manager.
Contrary to what the person above me said, most themes you no longer need to flash. CM has the T-Mobile Theme Engine now, which just lets you side-load an APK, then select the theme in the Theme Manager app, then reboot. That's it!
No more flashing crap that breaks on every other update.
where are they? My CM theme manager only came with 3 options. Love to get more easily
I mean fb contacts lol and I'll try these. I was gonna say I'm getting horrible battery but it's hard to judge cause my phone was in the coat room with no signal 58%.

All over the place! There's some in the Market, and dozens posted in all of the Themes sections here on XDA. You could give BlueBuzzer or Honeybread a try, for example.
Remember, just download the APK, install the APK, select the theme in the manager, and then reboot. No flashing or anything. Taking a backup beforehand though wouldn't hurt.
The red CM7 THEME is amazing. I would like to know why my juice defender isn't working though. I cannot accurately judge my battery life but I know Juice would help me.

I don't use it personally, but not all apps are compatible with 2.3 [gingerbread] yet, so you may have to wait.
It's probably cause I'm running an older version. Don't really like the new UI. I am gonna try installing a different version to see if it makes a difference. Now I understand what all this GB hype is about.

Normally the files you're looking for are located inside system/framework/framework-res.apk under the folder drawable-hdpi
In a normal rom you're be looking for 4 files:
stat_sys_data_connected_3g.png
stat_sys_data_in_3g.png
stat_sys_data_inandout_3g.png
stat_sys_data_out_3g.png
Depending on what rom you're running you might find that they're more files associated with the 3G icon, for example CM7. Your best bet if you don't know what you're doing and just want to switch out a couple of pngs is to use MetaMorph or use this kitchen....
http://uot.dakra.lt/ (very user friendly)
Also, for future reference you might want to use the search feature to find answers like this because of how often people ask and if you do in fact have to post a new thread it is to your advantage to post things like what ROM you're running or if your question(s) is about a kernel then post that as well because it helps for people like myself to answer your question(s).
Oh and here's a site where you can download whatever 3G icon you want and use MetaMorph to apply it to your theme....
www.droidpirate.com/tag/3g/
Don't forget to show the Thanks button some love if I helped you.....

Easiest way to root?
Download the T-Mobile image from this thread and extract the .tar file
Flash with ODIN.
Or you can choose a different method, but you will have to ODIN custom recovery onto the phone first.
Go to this thread for guides on rooting/flashing, etc.
As for the battery, read this article about battery conditioning.

Well for starters you can look at whats been removed from the debloated rom and debloat yours to match.
Additionally, you can just search these forums as there will likely be multiple threads about whats safe to remove.
Additionally+, you can buy Titanium Backup and freeze the apps one by one. If they dont cause problems when frozen they are safe to remove.

Hey Mike,
I would recommend installing a custom recovery, I highly recommend Clockwork mod. Make a backup of your system to be safe, so that you can always restore if needed. Next use a file manager with root permissions, I HIGHLY recommend Root Explorer. Create a folder on your sd card called backup_bloat (or anything really). Go to your app drawer and start jotting down the bloat. I'd recommend getting rid of all the TMobile stuff, as well as most of the samsung apps. Once you have a good idea of what to get rid of, go into your system -> apps folder and look for the same icons. Instead of just deleting the files, use the multi-select option in root explorer to select all the ones you want to get rid of. Once done, move them into the backup_bloat folder. Reboot. Test your device out thoroughly for a day or two. If it works great, you can get rid of the backup_bloat folder. Any errors, and you may have removed something needed by the phone. This is my standard debloat process, and it works well for me without having to install any custom roms.
Hope this helps!

Can I ask why not? I get not wanting to go as far as custom roms, but with adblockers and access to the system and data partitions, you can do quite a bit without having to go for a full rom.
Well I'm just comfortable with touchwiz and honestly the last phone I had I thought I knew what doing and bricked. So I lost the courage just getting into all this so I'm a newbie...
:'( but I see all the customizations and would love to have them so I just wanted to take the easy way out and get some apks that would work with my stock...

Best way to customize your unrooted phone is probaly thru your launcher of choice... there are some that can be customized more than others, basically what your looking for is different themes/icons which you can find for free or buy in the play store.

Have to agree with lickarock. There's still quite a lot you can do without going all out like full ROMs. If you simply root your phone and load SuperSU (SuperUser), you can load something like ES File Explorer and do simple installs of apk files through there. You really don't have to worry about bricking your phone in that situation.
While I do load different roms on my N2, like you, I just wanted to get blacked out apps also. I'm running blacked out Gmail and Facebook currently, which I loaded through ESFE. Just make sure you uninstall the original apps then install the apks through ESFE and reboot. Everythings running smooth on my phone.
I've had a few scares loading different ROMs where my phone wouldn't boot up and I thought I maybe bricked my phone.......luckily I got it back up and running. Battery pulls suck.......lol
Just be sure to read through all the posts that you find which interest you. Typically, people post issues they are having and possible fixes. If you want to run different roms or something later, just be sure your phone is running the correct specs for it, ie....your baseband version is MA7 vs MC2, not all roms are compatible with multiple versions.

If you choose not to root, there are still several ways to have a highly customized phone.
Personally, I am a fan of rooting. I have rooted every android phone I have had except my Note 2. Long story short, I bought my Note 2 through my business and cannot afford to run into any headaches that can sometimes pop up even to the most experienced flasher. I will say the Note 2 is also the first android phone that I haven't felt the need to root for increased performance. CPU, RAM, Battery life, this phone has all three for days.
I created a thread dedicated to creating a custom look without root. And in many ways this is the most custom phone I've ever had.

It's a work in progress and I am adding more and more stuff all the time.

For a blacked out messaging app you might check out Go SMS Pro. There are downloadable themes and you can make your own.

Thank you that's very informative... I really enjoy touchwiz but I just want to root to remove the system apps that prevent me from installing the blackout apps I want like gmail, playstore, ect... And get rid of the ones I don't want or use but I still want the ota's and touchwiz and thanks to the people in this thread is figured out how to customize it exactly how I want it... Thank You all of you!!!!

Just root! I was new to samsung and odin with the gn2 and I swear its simple and worth it! You can then go with custom sized touchwiz launcher that you know and want, but looks more appropriate and utilizes the size of the display properly!
