Leedroid GB V3 NOA2SD download - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Could anyone please direct me to a download for the NOA2SD version of V3 ( preferably latest 3.0.5 ). I've got 3 Beta 1 but would like to use something newer. Had the classic 'hang at HTC screen' problem with A2SD version but NOA2SD version works fine.

There is no NoA2SD version. Lee dropped the NoA2SD version at the moment. You can only download the A2sd version at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038195
Read at first the OP with the instructions. If you get problems, read a bit in the thread, do a Google-search in the thread and if there are still problems ask in the thread. If you ask there, think about a detailed description of what you have done... ;-)

Thanks anderl78, it's been a difficult task going through the 250+ pages of replied in this thread but the common thing seems to be that S-OFF is required and I'm not quite prepared to do that at the moment. I've checked everything else including ext3 partition, alignment patch, etc - no go. NOA2SD releases have served me well in the past so I was just hoping there might be a newer release of V3 than beta 1 in this version. Surprisingly, beta 1 works very well on my phone and I actually don't have much issues.

I am understanding right ? You have a older leedroid 3.x noa2sd running on your phone? If yes, the a2sd version should run to.
BTW: s-off is not required, it seems that the phone should have only latest hboot. To get latest hboot (if you don't have it anyway) is to flash the latest official RUU or to do s-off. I recommend s-off, you get a lot more opportunities !
If you need help, pm me... ;-)

Thanks anderl78, yes I've got an older version ( 3.0 beta 1 noa2sd, this is the newest noa2sd version I can find ). I've also got hboot 0.93 and according to many posts, this should be ok.

You can download a NoA2SD- Version for Leedroid v2.4 (Froyo):
http://leedroid.com/file_download/192/LeeDrOiD_V2.4_No_A2SD.zip

Thanks MatDroid, that's what I was running previously but wanted to try v3. Found a NOA2SD version of 3.0.3 but decided to try A2SD 3.0.2 which has worked! Unfortunately, nothing greater than this works ( eg. 3.0.4, 3.0.5, ... ). Not sure why 3.0.2 would be fine but none of the others ...

Just wanted to say thanks to the posts in the main Leedroid thread regarding the issue where the phone hangs at the white HTC screen on boot after flashing the ROM. There were a lot of people with the same issue. I managed to get 3.0.6r2 flashed after repartitioning my ext3 partition, and doing the alignment script after flashing the ROM. In fact I can't really remember which order I did these in but no matter, it's working now.

DONUT available - need to update NOW?

Hello devs,
I have red that Donut has been released.
HTC has released its update. I have already updated my Hero. Because there is no Java, I want to install Modaco's ROM.
My question is: can I expect a donut-release in a short time?
If so, then I will wait updating to Modaco, because of losing all data.
if you are just missing the java implementation i would recommend you this Thread or rather the way that worked for me Link
What update are you talking about from HTC? build 2.73.405.5 is still 1.5 (cupcake). I'm a little confused.
The sdk for donut has been released. Sure that the firmware is on course for its October release.

yes thats correct
He's just saying he installed the official HTC update that MoDaCo leaked a few weeks ago. Now he wants to go MoDaCo (perhaps because it's prerooted, installs apps on the sd and so on). He is just wondering whether it's a good idea, if 1.6 is released very soon.
No, 1.6 will not be released very soon (at least not as a HTC Hero Rom), so go ahead and flash with MoDaCo, if you feel you need it. Your phone won't get much faster than with the official update, but at least you'll have something to play around with.
just a quick question, i have MoDaCo rom installed on my hero and if i download the HTC official update would i lose root? and will android 1.6 can be download as a custom rom?
by the way:
what does leaked mean in this context? is it really some kind of "ripped" or how do we have to understand this?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd assume someone working for HTC or testing the ROM put the files online.

That would be the definition of leaked, yes, which is probably how we got this ROM pre official release.

Sorry if this sounds very noobish, but how do you install apps to the SD card? I installed a couple of apps after moving to Modaco's Rom, but I do not know how to install them to the SD card instead of the phone's memory. Are they by default installed on the SD card with Modaco's Rom?
Thanks in advance for the clarification.

Dont really want to help you hijack this thread away from the intended purpose, but if you were specifically asking about modaco's rom, next time it might be wise to read or "SEARCH" his thread keywords so that you can find your answer. Indeed there are a few answers in that thread that help you to find out if your apps are installing to SD.
But to answer your question, if your card is partitioned (Fat32,swap,ext3) then your apps will be installed to your sd card by default from Modaco's rom.
Thank you and my apology if I've drifted from the thread subject. Next time, do not answer me if I'm drifting and I'll know where to look somewhere else.
Thanks for your info.
cyanogen has already released the new version, but unfortunately this is not for hero

There's no update yet! It's just the SDK that's been released.

Which ROM to start with?

So i'm planning on Rooting my Desire (Bravo PVG1 SHIP -SON, HBoot 0.93 , Radio 5.11.05.27)
Any recommendations? i was thinking about CyanogenMod 7.
Other thing i would like to ask is Gold Card, do i really need to make it? I'm asking because i dont have second sdhc card.. im not sure if i have any brandings in my phone.
Thanks in advance.
Go to Settings>About phone>Software information and post the software version - we'll go from there
Android 2.2
Baseband version 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernel version 2,6,32,[email protected] #1
Build number 2.29.405.5 CL293415
Software number 2.29.405.5
Browser Webkit 3.1
The exact model number of my phone is HTC Desire A8181.
Awesome! Right, before you do anything download this:
http://www.multiupload.com/LEJCW182AH
It's the RUU of the stock ROM so should you ever need to go back to stock you can.
As for what ROM to start with, a lot of people suggest LeeDroid as it's an easy introduction to a rooted ROM yet still has Sense. Not sure how up-to-date it is these days, mind
My first ROM and still using it, is LeeDroid and I havent even bothered to look at others, it works perfect, very fast and give you A2SD+.

LeeDroid is kinda outdated, why not try some GB(Gingerbread) Roms?
Depends if the person likes Sense. I do so having tried the (buggy) 2.3 ROMs available I'll be waiting for a Sense-based 2.3 ROM
Gingerbread roms are fine really. Working for me no problem.
I think there should be a dedicated thread about roms because this is prob the 100th thread on what rom should I choose or what ever this week. Seriously.
I just successfully rooted and installed my first custom Rom (LeeDrOiD 2.3d).
Much <3 for all the help!
Cheers.

Use starbust rom it is fast and stable and gives you internal memory of upto 2GB
Maybe I want to use Leedroid
Mine was doing that as well. I was previously using oxygen which was fast, but Leedroid 2.4 gave me unbareable lag at times. I have now switched to Lee's new gingerbread 3.0.2 rom and have found it so much quicker. May be worth a try?

I am planning to go to his gingerbread one but not until its been out their and tested longer.
any news when will the htc gb will be released?
Why dont you test it yourself and leave feedback instead of leeching
Kind of fixed the problem, all I did was switch the phone on and off :S

Guide to GB ROMS?

Hello all,
I like many others, I have installed the new GB ROM from the RUU supplied by HTC and it is "OK". However, i would like something else.
I have seen many guide to install ROMS and it seems more or less clear.
My problem, and maybe the problem for other noobs if the fact that there are so many ROMs out there. It is difficult to know which one to take.
For example, I am looking for plain old stock android 2.3 for the desire. No sense, no extra HTC apps. Just what google would have on the nexus 1. But, I cant figure out which ROM fits that.
Any ideas?
What would be great is sticky which lists the ROMs and their main features for all us noobs. Unless there is one already and I didnt see it
Get Oxygen Rom mate its nice and basic , if u want to go too basic get DevNull
But for starters i think u shud go with oxygen
Pm me if u want to discuss any other details

Well, if you installed official Gingerbread 3.14.405.1 RUU, you can't get root (yet). No root means that you can't install custom rom.

watch the video tutorial too - but it sounds like you want an AOSP rom
Yup, you definitely wanna try Oxygen + it was recently updated to Android 2.3.5.
It's sense free, all bloatware removed, very fast & minimalistic.
http://forum.oxygen.im/viewtopic.php?id=149 (it wasn't updated on XDA yet, but you can download it from there)
CyanogenMod7 will also fit you.
Should have read into what you were doing before you updated. You can't root now, which means no custom ROMs for you. HTC updated HBOOT so no more rooting for the time being. You're stuck with it till someone cracks it. Unlucky dude.
My recommendation:
Sense (2.1+3.0) : InsertCoin 1.0.9
AOSP: Oxygen
no MIUI from me...sorry..
Thanks for all the replies. I am pretty sure it is only a matter of days or weeks at most until I can root. I recall the same situation last update.
It sounds like oxygen is the way to go. Once the root is available I will give it a shot. Thanks.

the thing is that now i want to upgrade my phone to a new version .....
questions are
1. can i upgrade it to android 4.0 ?? or some other version lets say 2.3 ??
2. i was going through these forms and i saw a page with Cyanogen Mod 7.0.2 .what exactly is that ?? is it a new version of android??
3. what is the difference between upgrading a ROM and upgrading android version ??
4. does upgrading the version actually speeds up and gives better performance??
5. and finally can anybody please help me out with step by step process of upgrading to android 2.3 or if theres a better version for it ??
the specs of my phone are :

You can update to 4.0, but trust me, it's just not stable enough. On the other hand, 2.3 is very stable and is suitable for daily use.
But both of these are a no if you're looking for "official" updates.

CyanogenMod7 is a custom ROM (Details explained below)
It offers you a lot of customization and general developer support.
3. what is the difference between upgrading a ROM and upgrading android version ??

A ROM is essentially a modified unofficial. version of Android. So if your ROM is 2.3, you will upgrade to 2.3. Most of the time they will be better than stock, because they might offer more customization or tweaks not present in the stock ROM.
4. does upgrading the version actually speeds up and gives better performance??

I personally find 2.2 Sense based ROM to be smoother and a bit faster than 2.3.
5. and finally can anybody please help me out with step by step process of upgrading to android 2.3 or if theres a better version for it ??

Because you upgraded to the official 2.2, you have locked down your bootloader (refereed from here on now as "HBOOT")
You will first need to use a tool called Revolutionary to install a custom hboot, that will allow custom ROMs to be installed.
Go to this link: http://revolutionary.io/ and select "Download for Windows"
A .zip file will start downloading and a new form has popped up on the site. Fill it out first.
Plug in your phone and extract the .zip file you downloaded earlier.
Now just run "revolutionary.exe" and follow onscreen instructions.
After that was done succesfully your HBOOT should be version 6.XX...
Now download the HTC Wildfire ClockworkMod recovery from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122694
And finally in the same topic linked back there scroll down a bit and follow the "To root:" part.
And that's it, you're rooted
Now, boot back into the recovery and select "Backup&restore" and make a backup (needed if you want to go back to your old ROM)
Now after you backed up do a full wipe (inside the recovery)
Afterward put this file on your SD card (assumin you want CyanogenMod): http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/update-cm-7.1.0.1-buzz-signed.zip
Also flash this to get the Market, gmail, ... :http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip

For both yes if you root and use custom roms. 4.0 isn't really stable atm but maybe it will get stable like 2.3

Cyanogenmod or cm is an AOSP ( android open source project ) This is a team of devs that make roms for our htc wildfire. cm 7 is android 2.3

This looks the same because if you upgrade a rom from 2.2 to 2.3 you have also upgraded android. But i guess you mean the difference between just an upgrade an rooting and flash custom software. The difference is that when you just update yo do a little upgrade and nothing more. When flash a NEW rom it just installs a complete new version.

It could. Ofcourse you need to adjust a little with overclocking if you use stock roms. But if you use aosp roms you have a speed up because they are much smaller than the standard roms.

The best is to go to 3xeno his index with all roms and add-ons, because there you find a complete tutorial too.
I hope this was helpfull
This is actually stable (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1473344) but is missing lots of features as most haven't been ported from cm7 yet.
On my device it occasionally crashed after making phone calls.
