[Q] Gingerbread-based Virtuous Rom - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
gsmarena.com expects an official Gingerbread OTA Update for the Z within the next few days. The rollout of 2.3.3 for DHD and Incredible has already started.
Since i am a big fan of Sense, i´d like to hear your opinion on how long it may until we see a nice Virtous version for our beloved Z´s?
Cheers,
Chris

As soon as a stable release is released and the developer deems it suitable for a virtuous release. So probably not any time soon.

[G2 Q&A] Worth rooting?

Is the G2 worth rooting with the release of 2.3 around the corner??? Should I root and wait for a stable room or wait for 2.3 then decide on rooting??? I am also running a rooted Nexus One so I am not new to the rooting world...
Honestly it is worth it even if 2.3 is around the corner. I said to myself I wasn't going to root it but I missed being able to show off certain aspects of my phone (came from a G1.)But RUMOR has it that Cyanogen is going to work on CM7 (2.3) AOSP based rom. Who knows when an official release will be but just know for now you can play around with SENSE UI and Vanilla soon MIUI.
Might as well. Cm 6.1 is stable, and by having an already rooted phone you'll have less work to do once gingerbread comes around and there's no risk of accidentally accepting a future ota that locks it down further.

Honestly... Do you actually think anyone in the DEV-section of this DEV-forum will tell you to NOT ROOT?
Go ahead and have yourself some fun!!

Rumor or not, I would be willing to bet that Cyanogen releases a ROM based off of 2.3 sooner than an OTA update is available.
And the current CM 6.1 is a GREAT ROM in itself.
In my opinion you're doing yourself a disservice by NOT rooting.

Rom selection help, please.

There is entirely too much info available... I want a stable sense gingerbread rom for my incredible. A working camera is a must. Does such a beast exist? Links would be great. Thanks.

Such a beast does not exist YET. So far we've got a half working port of Incredible S which I believe is 2.3. I would really like to see it perfected. Until then the best sense ROM would be a Desire Z port, those are frigging fast.
EDIT: The Inc. S isn't GB, the Huashen or w/e is GB.

Though I do not have links handy, I will also put this information out there for you. At this time, there are 3 main gingerbread ROMs for Incredible, Cyanogenmod 7 (RC1 is out as well as nightlies), Evervolv (very slow updates), and OMFGB (kicked off this site). Currently, Cyanogenmod is the most stable and for me, the fastest. One thing the camera is missing though is 720p. This will likely be the case until we have a sense gingerbread build like you are talking about. The mentioned Incredible S port is still 2.2 based but has the new 2.5 senseui. The only gingerbread sense build out period right now is the one leaked for the Huashan (spelling?) but that has yet to be ported to Incredible yet.
Both CM7 and OMFGB have "working" cameras, but maybe not to the extent that you would want them.. it's still a work in progress.
I suggest going with chingys incrediblely re -engineered Rom.. very stable very fast with lous kernels

[Q] gingerbread sprint leak?where is sense 2.1

If im not mistakened, i thought htc was going to give us sense 2.1 along with our gb
why would sprint update the evo to gingerbread before they release the nexus s? it wouldn't make much business sense, so i'd expect our update will come after at least the first wave of sales for the nexus.
From the leak, I honestly doubt that the EVO GB update will include Sense 2.1. I know that the GB update probably won't be released until after the E3D comes out, so I could be wrong.

Yea I agree... but from my point of view the Sense roms beat the hell of the AOSP roms... espacially the sense 2.1.

Official 2.3 gingerbread email update

Just got an official email for 2.3 gingerbread. Should I wait.
You waited this long. I plan on getting it OTA.
I waited for the Froyo update, and I have to say it was all lack luster since I was in the last day of the roll out. I look back and think I should have just flashed the update.zip when it was published on here.
Well, you can have the official release weighted down with all of the extra nonsense. Or let the devs rip it apart and build it up faster and lighter with OC/UV features..

[Q] What ROM to use?

This is for a friend who has a Desire HD.
He had cyanogenmod for a while but an earlier buggier version.
He's now sick of it, and ready to move to an iphone.
I'm looking for a perfectly stable ROM with ICS if possible.
Recommendations?

u can definitely recommend miui(gb) or the primo-s by proxuser(ics)
Ice Cold Sandwich is a great rom. Been using it for a few months and all the instability and other issues have been pretty much ironed out by now. I believe it's one of the more popular ICS roms for the desire
Rom stability has alot to do with the device and the user. So it will be alot of trial and error. ICS will have bugs until we get the source and an update from HTC. A search would have told you this.
