I tried to type *#06# on my htc evo 4g to recieve the imei number to unlock my phone i could not recover it any suggestions
hey the htc evo is cdma, so there is no imei but there is a meid or esn. it is under the battery. if the phone is unlocked it can only be used with another cdma provider like boost, virgin mobile, metropcs or cricket. it can't be used with gsm carriers like att or tmo.

Its possible. There are a few threads about t-mo and cricket and boost mobile
Tmo and cricket are gsm...
You can flash it to metro pcs or boostmobile and get 3g
Not sure about verizon tho
Also, I think you'll need MSL's and stuff

I've been ignoring it all this time cause I was on stock and I thought imei were a GSM version of esn and sprint phones didn't have them
Can someone tell me the effect of having no imei on a sprint phone and how it happens
Thx

sprint and cdma phones don't use imei numbers. so no there is no imei bug
That's what I thought but if you go to settings>about device>status we have an imei number
But thanks for telling me it don't matter
Now I can go on a flashing spree with no concerns

Sprint does have IMEI numbers but they don't use them like the evo lte, you might loose it but you won't problems connecting to the network a verizon guy loss his but still connected to network lte like normal

If you lose your IMEI you will probably not be able to connect to LTE. 3G and everything else should work, but I'm pretty sure LTE will not.
I say this because LTE is a GSM technology, which is why I think we have IMEI on our phones in the first place. I haven't heard of anyone that reported the bug yet on Sprint, though.
i got a sprint epic 4g touch phone(usa) and i wanna use it in India. It doesnt have sim slot but it is possible to use "tata or reliance" because i know 1 guy who is using this exact phone with tata service here!! I just wanna know whats the procedure behind using sprint phone in india!
You have to register the meid in the reliance database and a few tech stuff and off you go!

Hi,
First off I live in Ireland where we only have 3G networks. No 4G at the moment.
Now my question is, if I buy a 4G capable phone off ebay.com with a "bad esn" can it be used on 3G networks in Ireland?
Basically can a 4G phone work if I pop a 3G sim in there?
Also in order for this to work I would guess the phone would need to be unlocked. As far as I can see there is a few "bad esn unlocked" phones, but is the procdure to unlock a 4G bad esn phone just as easy as a normal 3G phone?
Thanks in advanced.
Christopher.
If you unlock it, you should be able to use a 4G-capable phone on 3G. I can't see why not.

Thank you soo much!
Bad ESN is for CDMA phones. Does your service provider do GSM or CDMA?

why not just buy a gsm phone and not worry about a bad ESN phone or whether or not a 4g phone will work with a 3g sim? used gsm nexus has to be cheap as all get out by now on ebay or swappa or a thousand other sites.
