Its possible. There are a few threads about t-mo and cricket and boost mobile

Tmo and cricket are gsm...
You can flash it to metro pcs or boostmobile and get 3g
Not sure about verizon tho
Also, I think you'll need MSL's and stuff

No, Sprint does not allow other networks ESN's on their network.

To OP:Actually the Honest answer is yes, due to a lawsuit against sprint you ARE allowed to bring your own phone to sprint as lone as it's already flashed over to the sprint network, although not everything will work depending on how you flash it or have it done by. it's the same way with all carrier's, if you have a cdma phone it is allowed on any CDMA network (besides possibly the CDMA Iphone4). and any GSM phone will work with any GSM tech Carrier.
To: ichefae85 do a little research before giving someone an answer on this subject, a CDMA phone can be flashed to any Carrier whether it be Cricket, Metro, Boost, or Sprint! They just will not flash all the information over for you, you have to do that either yourself or 3rd-party. Also if you do not believe me Search on google for the FCC ruling on the matter
The reason you CANNOT use a non-Sprint phone on the Sprint network is that ESN cloning (the method used to obtain a flash) is highly illegal when performed by anyone other then network personnel, so while doable, Sprint won't do it so in this case its a felony.

Possible to flash/use SPH-D710 on Virgin Mobile instead of Sprint?

Hello, I have Sprints version of the Galaxy s2 and would like to totally switch plans/service to Virgin Mobile...I have seen online elsewhere that this is possible but no direct directions on how? I would prefer Virgin but Metro PCS or Cricket would also do if they would function properly with the phone. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
There have been quite a few threads around here regarding flashing over to metro, but I haven't seen anything about virgin. Do a search for metro flashing and like I said youll find a few different threads.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA Premium App
Its only possible by rewritting esn as virgin is owned by sprint and each virgin esn is scanned in their system

i tried running search on flashing metro but the only useful info i got was for using another phone model...anywhere i can find model specific flashing info for the SPH-D710? the only experience i have with flashing is taking my old galaxy from froyo to gingerbread using odin...guessing i would need an actual guide if one exists? thanks for your help!
Look up a program call qxdm I believe or cdma workshop u have to rewrite nam and prl if u wanna go to metro then connect phone and dial ##8778# or #8778# and switch phone option to modem need any help shoot me a pm

I have a sgs2 and cdma workshop on my desk top...what do i need to do to get it to work with virgin mobile?
I know ive seen some post about it. As for the esn I know for the Epic 4g if I remember right I think you needed an old virgin mobile phone for the esn
I know iv seen some saying the sgs2 disnt need a "donor" phone..but i heard sonething about changing something for the 3g to work i just dont see video or info how to get the esn to virgin...i have cdma workshop but not sure what to do with it..lol
There's a guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1404270
(I hope it still works)
I have a quick question: is it possible to flash BACK to sprint after flashing to virgin mobile? This is with an epic 4g touch that had a clean esn.

Yes, it should just be a matter of reversing the process you used to flash/pgm your device to VM... Assuming you did retain all of the relevant data from your original setup...

Does anyone know if you need to flash the virgin mobile version of android 4.1.2 onto a sprint epic 4g touch in order to use Virgin mobile or can you just use any of the sprint roms and just swap the info out from a virgin donor phone.
thanks
Gentlemen, I would caution you on discussing the changing of ESNs here in XDA. As I'm sure you know, flashing this way is now illegal and talking about piracy and the like in the threads is frowned upon by the mods. Just trying to help. Good luck!

Bottomline - You cannot use GSM phone on a CDMA network unless it is a global phone and supports both GSM and CDMA as well as the frequencies of the carrier you intend to use.
That is an obvious spam post. Please people, there are no exceptions... you CANNOT take a Sprint or Verizon phone and unlock it to be used on ANY service that is GSM or uses a SIM card. Period. The unlock sites will just take your money. World band phones will already be unlocked for use on European GSM networks most of the time so no unlock code is needed overseas.

You can flash it to another carrier though.
Not if the carrier is GSM or uses a SIM card. There is no possibility. Whatsoever. And unless you know a network level technician on verizon, you are limited to the smaller regional carriers and prepaid services to flash a Sprint phone. And vice versa for a Verizon phone. They will not connect a phone that does not already have its ESN already in its system.

Its common knowledge about gsm and cdma,if you dont know what these are then you have no business flashing carriers.
Sprint phones can be flashed to almost all prepaid carriers, overseas cdma is less common however there are ways out there to even flash cdma phone to their carriers. My father in Ukraine had his Epic 4g flashed to a carrier that uses sim cards,so there are ways even overseas.I think some overseas carriers use both cdma and gsm.

[R800x] roaming on sprint?

Is there any way to roam on sprint with the play? Verizon (3g) and sprint (3g) are both cdma and i know you can roam on verizon with the sprint E4GT. It would be so nice to use my play. I miss it since the switch to sprint.

Maybe if you flash a new PRL in a software such as CDMA Workshop. I'm not really sure though.

I haven't used CDMA Workshop in a long time, but last time I messed with a phone, I needed the 16 character code and the 6 digit MSL to get access to most things.

Even though the R800x is a VERIZON you cant have it run on Sprint. Sprint doesn't allow phones from the outside. Your best bet is to flash pageplus cellualr or criket they both use verizon towers and you'd be good to go. Dont go to metropcs they've been bought by T-mobile. Plus T-mobile is converting metropcs to GSM.

Double wrong. Verizon has a different RADIO frequency than AT&T and/or T-Mobile. It is impossible to update/change the radio for a sim on att/tmobile for it to work on Verizon phone. some of the verizon phones are "world phones" and have both gsm and cdma. all verizon lte phones have a sim card but only some have gsm. I don't know anything about the verizon s3 but you would be better off asking in the verizon s3 forums.

Yes you can, see this right now you can only get E speed on it. My S3 is actually flashed to Pageplus and I can use it with any GSM carrier here in the US, it's fairly easy to do but like I said you only get "Edge" speed for now. I've use Net10, Simplemobile and StraightTalk, any GSM will work you can also flash to other CDMA like Metro, Cricket or Pageplus.

See... This is what happens when a ignoramus tries to be smart .. You don't know what you're saying.. It is a proven fact that you can't put a GSM into a NON-gsm phone and expect it to work! (i tried it.. And it failed.. Invalid sim[in a unlocked vzw phone])

yes but havent tried
there are several places saying it is totally possible and ive called verizon trying to see what they would say and the answer i got, at least for out of the country GSM, is that the S3 comes "unlocked already" and you just put in the sim card from whatever out of country carrier you want. apparently that came with the 4.1.2 update to the phone. Now putting with a us carrier might be different but i cant try it because i have my phone flashed to metropcs and i cant just put a metro sim card in it. here a few places i found just by looking on google

U actually can use the Verizon variant s3 on tmobiles network as the s3 is a world phone, now here's where and why most ppl don't, Verizon's network is CDMA as we all know and T-Mobile is a gsm network, so with the s3 being a world phone it can be used on a gsm network but u will never see 4g or even real 3g speeds, Verizon's s3 doesn't have the ability to pick up anything but "E", edge speeds on T-Mobile so is it really worth it? Not in my opinion, if I'm going to blget an s3 I want the full functionality of the devices capabilities, just saying though lol

I can say with some certainty that u will not see 4g using a Verizon variant s3 on T-Mobile network, yes its a world phone and yes u can get it to "work" on T-Mobile but it doesn't have the right kind of internal for gsm 4g network speeds, the most u will see out of it is E or edge, 2g speeds, at least until the towers get updated

I can't say for certainty but as of right now any unlocked world phone from a CDMA based network will only pick up 2g or edge network speeds, it may say 3g or even 4g but believe me unless ur in an area where towers have been remapped u will not see anything above 2g ,maybe base 3g ,only because the radio isn't designed to pick up the gsm frequency, now in the near future cdma will be phased out so u may be able to get 4g in the future but not as of now
