Removing apps/ringtones from customized ROMs...

I've been trying to customize for myself an already customized ROM in ZIP container. I deleted some files from folders:
\data\app
\system\app
\system\media\audio\ringtones
and then the corresponding to them lines in META-INF\CERT.SF and META-INF\MANIFEST.MF files. I figured out that this could work, but the installation in Clockwork Recovery was aborted at some point with error:
E:Can't chown/mod /data/app
(No such file or directory)
set_perm 1000 1000 0771 DATA:app
Installation aborted
Could some1 advise me what can I do to make this work?
Maybe you should sign the edited file. (search for sign apk or sign update.zip there is a script that does it on the forum)
You don't need to edit those .SF & .MF files.
You need to edit the "update-script" OR "updater-script".
You mean signing the whole ZIP file which contains the customized ROM?
I found a way to sign apk files but I only deleted some apps and ringtones so what else besides ROM file have to be signed?

And do what in the update-script?

[Q] Can't install rom's

The only rom I can restore from backup or install from zip is CyanogenMod-6.1.
LeeDrOiD_V2.3b_A2SD - instals fine but freeze on boot
Today I tried to install Pays-Desire-Froyo-Sense_v2.2 and I got this:
E:Can't symlink /system/xbin/bb
E:Failure at line 43:
symlink /system/xbin SYSTEM:xbin/bb
Any other rom I try and I end up with this error:
E; can't chown/mod /system/bin (no such file or directory)
E:Failure at line 6: set_perm_recursive 0 2000 0755 0755 SYSTEM:xbin
Installation aborted.
AuraxTSense_8.2_Official_OTA_2.2_FRF91_A2SD+
pinky-desire-1.8_signed
r9-bravo-desire-modacocustomrom-withadditions-a2sd-signed
2.10.405.2-initd-rooted-stock-v2
Before I could install any rom I wanted until now and all was working fine. I must mess up something trying to create apps2ext.
I have tried:
different ROMS
wiping cache, dalvik, battery etc every time
formating SD
different SD
Fixing ext
Using ClockworkMod and RA-desire-v2.0.0 [GSM]
Run out of ideas now ...what else can I do ?
Well according to your sig you have N1 table, all the sense rom's won't fit on there. Don't know for the others but for leedroid you need the stock bravo layout (the rest probably needs the same).
Thanks. Sorted.

Restore crash
HI. I have the same probl with my Galaxy Nexus. I flash custom rom CM9...but in one day the phone reboot and start to loop. I reinstalled again CM9 from zip. I made a backup from ClockworkMod(pressing power and volume buttons) and after i tried to put back the stock restore. This crash. Adter i tried to restore the previous backup of CM9. Both crash and give this error: error while restoring /data. Pls help me because now i cannot restore nothing. Also the install again of CM9 from zip don't want to work.

Maguro 4.0.3 stuck in boot loop

Yesterday I restarted my Galaxy Nexus after it had problems with GMaps locations.
The following then happened.
1. Vibrate.
2. Google Logo (unlocked)
3. Restart
I've tried reflashing AOKP, wiped cache/data and I'm still getting the same issue. I can open recovery fine.
Any tips?
The following shows up when I try to restore:
Code:
"Error while restoring /data!"
rm: can't remove 'tombstones/tombstone_03': Read-only file system.
rm: can't remove 'tombstones/tombstone_04': Read-only file system.
rm: can't remove 'tombstones/tombstone_05': Read-only file system.
rm: can't remove 'tombstones/tombstone_06': Read-only file system.
rm: can't remove 'tombstones/tombstone_07': Read-only file system.
rm: can't remove 'tombstones/tombstone_08': Read-only file system.
rm: can't remove 'tombstones/tombstone_09': Read-only file system.
rm: can't remove 'tombstones': Read-only file system.
rm: can't remove 'user/0': Read-only file system.
rm: can't remove 'user': Read-only file system.
tar: can't remove old file data/radio/nv_data.bin: Read-only file system
nv_data.binError while restoring /data!
I tried [fix permissions], and while it fixed a few permissions, when I tried to restore, I get the same Errors while restoring /data. A reflash of AOKP+full wipe still leave me in a boot loop.

I'm not sure what rom you're using but for me personally I am running CM13 and I used Xposed Version 78, try that version.
