[Q] Settings resetting at reboot... - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yo!
I have this problem which is irritating more than severe; whenever I reboot my Desire, my widgets say 'problem loading widget' (I think? Something like that, anyway). So I have to reassign my widgets; some of which have complicated settings. Also my 'defaults' are reset - it asks me which launcher I want to use at startup; this has only happened today; before it has been fine.
Anyone know where the problem might arise from? I recently installed Quickdesk if that has the possibility of causing it.
I am running a rooted desire on the stock rom using launcherpro. Thanks!

Did you force it to the sd, what rom are you on and how do you turn of / reboot the phone?

Youtube Widget not working...?

If I try to hit the magnifying glass (search) or the camcorder option on the widget nothing happens...
Tried clearing the data/cache and rebooting with no luck... Anyone know what the deal is? It just started doing this yesterday and I didn't change anything...
Stock OTA 2.2, and factory kernal. Nothing really modified.
Ever figure out the issue?
No I didn't, why? Are you having the same issue?
Anyone know? It is still doing this... It's the stock OTA Deodexed rom...
Did you try deleting the widget and replacing it? I had the same problem and that fixed it

Yeah I did try that... It works for a few minutes and then goes back to not doing anything when I touch the search/camcorder buttons.
I'm on skyraider vanilla rc3 w. Kings BFS#5 kernel and my YouTube widget almost never works, even tried to use the ignore feature in Task Manager in case it was being shutdown from there when I do use the task manager but no luck, I gave up on trying maybe they need to update it, send the developer a bug report.

I'm using the most recent OTA deodexed rom... What developer would I report that to?
Seems to only do it AFTER a reboot... If i delete the widget and re add it the widget works fine until a reboot. Any ideas?

[Q] Clock widget

My gf got the IC2 after demoing my S. She loved it at first but after the recent OTA update she noticed that the clock widget is no longer available.
I know it's not really a big deal but thats the only convenient way to access the alarm clock.
Anyone know a way around this? And the clock apps on market isnt good as stock.
I also thought of somehow transferring my clock widget apk but I have no clue of how to do this
I appreciate any and all help!

From what I've week a factory reset

yup Factory reset is the only way to correct the issue. I've had to do it twice already within a 3 week period since the update to GB. I emailed HTC and all they could say was they know about it and they dont know when there will be a fix.
So for now Im using Beautiful Widgets and Alarm Clock Plus on my Phone
I took the gingerbread update and my clock still works fine. I did have to hunt it down though, I assumed it was an App but I found it under Widgets.
It used to be an app on Sense 1.0, I know that.
Did you check all the .apks in settings under manage applications? If its in there force stop it, clear data, cache & possibly uninstall update then uninstall before reset if not reset should do the job.. good luck

This issue is being discussed here, here, and here if anyone is interested in following.
For those that don't want to read all the posts (I don't blame you) here is the jist:
- Factory reset seems to fix it for most, but the issue comes back after a few days/weeks
- Some people have had luck getting the default clock app to reappear after installing another clock app from the market
- Most have checked the clock apps settings and found it is greyed out in the list of installed apps and is listed as 0kb
- Verizon seems to be passing people along to HTC who admits they know about the issue but don't know what will fix it or when they will have a fix (outside of the recommended factory reset)

[Q] Flashing any ROM but FrAsErTaG gives me no launcher

Running an R800x and DoomLord Kernel, but no matter what ROM I flash except for FrAsErTaG, I get no launcher. I get a screen with the time/battery, but none of the hardware buttons work. I cleared the /cache /data and /dalik-cache to no avail. I would stay on FrAsErTaG, but for some reason, the camera freezes when I try to take a picture. Has ANYONE else have had this problem?
Sounds like the Rom removed se home. Not sure why the other replacement launcher isn't working. Is this happening in my Rom, zerorom, as well?

Yes, it is. It's annoying as heck as well.
Are you able to connect your phone to your google account during set up? Because you could log on to the market on your pc, and download a home launcher. I thought it was a neat feature of the market. You could try it

You could push a launcher to your phone with adb!

See, that doesn't make any sense to me. I've had this problem a few times while working on the ROM, but found that Launcher Pro fixed it up for me just fine, so it is a part of the ROM. Not sure why it wouldn't be triggered for you... very odd.
Nope, I can't sign into the market. And I haven't tried pushing a .apk of a launcher yet.
As for it not triggering, anything I could do to help debug this?
It shouldn't not be triggering. Is your home button working?
Basically, it should bring up a list of anything that will respond to the home intent.
Like I said, none of the buttons responds. This includes the "home" button.
Wiping /system, reflash stock and then install a ROM and see what happens.

Apps Uninstalling Themselves

I noticed that I've had several apps "uninstall" themselves.. all of them were on the SD card.
Seems to be a common bug among quite a few GB builds when I checked it out on Google.
Is there a way to disable "apps to sd"? I'm on the stock ROM, rooted.
I believe it would take a modified a2sd.sh script but I don't yet have the programming experience to feel comfortable altering it myself (I'm still on stock recovery so a nandroid backup isn't an option)
Should probably be a simple fix, any of you Dev's willing to chime in?
Also, anyone else noticed this happening to them?
i've seen that bug a few times, it's quite annoying, some how the OS just loses the installed info about the apps, and you have to re-install them for it to know it's still there
I am seeing this even on apps saved internally.

Just thought I should also point out this is not a hardware issue, it has happened to me on all my previous 3 android phones

Everytime I install an app, I simply make sure I "move to phone" if it gets installed on the SD card
No problems since (yet..)
Are you using an aftermarket launcher or stock launcher? In any event not sure if it matters. I'm running CM7 alpha with Launcher Pro. It randomly happens to me, but I hold the back button on CM7 to force close Launcher Pro, and when it relaunches the apps are fully present. Try killing and restarting your launcher.
I've seen this as well - currently running Bombaridier 3.5 w/ Bullet...I've had this happen on different versions of the ROM, and it's kinda like AllGamer points out: app info seems to be lost, somehow - in my observation, after a reboot. However, if you go to manage your Applications, they'll still show as installed (well, mine do anyhow.) And yeah, reinstalling is no issue.
Restart the launcher? I will have to see about that - I'm running Go Launcher Ex on Bombaridier 3.5; if I see this (hopefully not) again, I will try that to see what happens. Thanks for the tip!

[Q] Is there a way to keep the Sound Search Widget (Google Ears) stick?

Hi guys, I'm using the Sound Search widget (Google Ears) outside US so I have to defrost it in Titanium Backup every after reboot. I also noticed that the app automatically gets frozen over time so I have to remove the widget, defrost in TiBU and add the widget to the homescreen to make it work again. I just want to ask if there's a way to stop it from being frozen over time? Is there a specific background app that locks it back again? Its fine to do the steps above everytime I reboot the phone. I just want to know if there's a way to stop it from being frozen again until I reboot my phone. Thanks.
Google Play Music has been launched in the UK and yet it still freezes the sound search widget. Is there a way of defrosting permanently?
EDIT: Running GNex 4.2 stock rooted semi-deodexed, stock kernel
I noticed that the sound search widget now remains defrosted when I upgraded to 4.2.1. Check yours if it does the same.
Can somebody post the apk for Google ears?
jelly buttery smoothness
I was using the one from the link below before I upgraded 4.2.1 ->

i have the same problem from italy. did you find a way to fix it?
upgrade to 4.2.1 don't resolve for me.
If you guys are rooted, using Package Enabler would activate it even if you do a reboot.
