What is your firmware version?

Default version Android 2.2.1 number of SW is:1.72.405.3
edit: is it normal, Eset NOD32 mark Visionary+ r.14 as virus?
Edit2: I have found already what to do... problem is 1.72... must downgrade to 1.32...

Yes. You have to downgrade your firmware to 1.32xxxxx in order to use Visionary.
Cheers =)

Is it possibe that a new version release (r.15) ??

If so it would be pretty new - I was looking for it 5 days ago and it sill was 14. Anyway, this worked great as always

Yes it is normal for an [a good ] AV to see it as an Android Exploit, because that is what it is meant to do, i.e. Exploit and give root access, you have Superuser as protection to give those permission or not for that access to root.
Take Care

but would'nt downgrading our dhd throw away all the goodiness of froyo??

[Q] Rooting Orange Desire HD with Visionary

Hi everyone,
Can someone kindly give me a hand rooting my Desire HD. I have installed Visionary R14 but everytime I click TempRoot is says "Rooting Device" and about 30 seconds later the screen goes black then Sense reloads but device still remains unrooted.
Am I doing something wrong or is there any other way to root the phone?
Many thanks,
Dan.
What is the version of the software in your DHD? You need to downgrade if it comes with version other than 1.3.xx
The software version number is 1.84.61.2. How do I go about downgrading? Where can I obtain the software from?
Sorry for the amateur questions...
How about doing some reading in the android development side The stickies contain everything you need to know. You can find a downgrade guide there.
yo, dr9722.
i just recently rooted my phone too.
1st - downgrade to 1.32 (since visionary doesnt work on your current firmware)
2nd - then root.
this video makes it really clear
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkbmKLCkDWg
and watch part 2 and 3, although i think part 3 is for installing custom ROM, but you can be rooted with your stock ROM, like me .
CodeNameUnknown, this is exactly what ive been looking for. Thanks very much.
Im not going to get a chance to give it a go until Tuesday but will post an update then. Thanks again.

Downgrade, root, radio s-off, install WWE ruu.
Once u do that you lose root and recovery, so what u need to do is temp root and radio s-on.
And you should have a fully unbranded dhd

Check it. Use the gingerbreak method. It works.
http://driphter.com/index.php?topic=3867.0
I had accidentally tried 2.37 via the pd98img and everything was locked up, so I wanted to get back to 2.36 but the RUU no longer would work. Im suprised my steps & toolkit still worked considering people are saying that the last version of gingerbreak didnt work. Well it still did for me (and a few other users) and NO goldcard was needed.
It doesn't work for me
At step 1. Download and Run this RUU to downgrade your device (plug in, run it, and let it do its magic): I got a failure (-> picture).
In Englisch: failure 140: Bootloader-Version-Failure
The ROM Update Utility Programm can't update the Android-Phone.
You need the right one and try again.
But which one is right? I tried more than ten ...
Again: I have (telekom)-branded Gingerbrad 2.37.111.6. No root an S-ON
help me please
thanks
greez Fabi
which RUU are you using are you using?
try skipping the RUU part of it, and just start at step 2 with the gingerbreak method.
Are you saying that Gingerbreak method in your post works on an S-ON 2.37 phones?
I wasn't able to make gingerbreak work either. My phone also lagged and FC with most widgets, won't connect to the mobile and wireless network. I thought I broke something by having radio s-off. But fortunately after Factory reset and wipe cache. everything went smoothly. Trouble is I have to setup my DHD again. ontly thing I was able to successfully restore was the contacts. using the built-in export tool.

I tried the SAME .exe from another page...
So start at step 2 with gingerbreak: (in Charge mode?!)
At step 4 my phone doesn't install Gingerbreak from PC - so I copied the apk to my device, run it but nothing happens. It sags only: Rooting...; Running exploit...; This may take a few minutes! Device will reboot on success.
Now I'm waiting more than a half an hour! What's wrong?
FAbi
So why not upgrade? I mean does anyone know how to create FOTA updates? Coz maybe we can trick the phone to update to 1.32 but maybe change the numbers to 2.38 or something like that.

[Q] Failed root..help?

Hi, I was trying to root my htc desire like in this guide : forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044 and when my phone needed to reboot it started to turn on and off and after that it was stuck on htc logo. I removed battery, turened my phone on and conected it to pc with usb and then unrevoked said "Internal error:failed to unlock NAND flash". Same thing happens when I try to do factory data reset. Help? :///
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Internal+error:failed+to+unlock+NAND+flash
Already googled,didn't find anything.
Hm...in hboot it says Sd checking....no image! is that ok?
k...tottaly lost...all night trie to root it...now it's hboot 0.83,rooting with newest unrevoked version gives same error, with reflash(older unrevoked) + recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-bravo-slcd in the end just closes the window. And I dont know if I have done something cuz for some reason I can't download root check from market. Oh and I also made goldcard...
Try downloading Titanium Backup, if that works for you - you are rooted.
(Did you tried unrevoked 3.21? AFAIK its the most stable version.)
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Not rooted,let's try nrevoked 3.21.
I can't find nrevoked 3.21 to download...
Tryed this http://androidforums.com/desire-all...dows-updated-20th-may-2011-a.html#post2446725 it was a triumph. But it restarted again and after that couldn't find misc.

using visionary+

hi,
i'm trying to root/rom/bla my friends DHD. since it used to be a 1.73 version device i did a downgrade to 1.32 as it's referred here with goldcard, hex and so on...
next i've installed visionary+ r14 as usb debugging is on and usb cable unplugged i hit both r/o-button and temproot but it doesn't work. i don't get a black screen yet but a yellow sign and text below "rooting device, wait etc." and this i can watch for hours (tbh: ten minutes for now). i can use the phone like before but root doesn't work for me.
did i make a mistake? am i just too cutty? phone unrootable?
wished i could post it here but don't want to spam ten posts anyways
Hello,
Confirm that you have successfully downgraded your phone and the version is 1.32 .
1.32 is rootable.
Menu -> Settings -> About phone -> Software information
You can try to download and install 1.32 rom again, see this updated downgrade guide.
hi,
yes i indeed had the 1.32 version successfully flashed. but with the rom from the howto i've posted above. should be no difference at all but can't swear they're the same since i don't know the correct checksum from the rom out of your tutorial.
anyways i'm gonna give it a try and do it again from scratch. could take quite a while as including fully formating this mangy yberslow microsd
€
ok, giving the other howto a short look the roms are different...
ok, i did everything according to the second howto and it's still the same. visionary+ does exactly nothing
€
v 1.32.405.6 now, no matter if with or without r/w this tool isn't working...

[Q] How To Root

Hey guys
I am totally new to the android phones, and now having a DHD which has the following specs:
Android Ver. 2.2
BaseBand Ver. 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_m
Kernel Ver. 2.6.32.21-gf3f553d
Build No. 1.32.405.6
Software No. 1.32.405.6
Now i looked at this link -
and didn't understand if i have to downgrade my DHD as well or is my version old enough so i can skip right ahead to the S-Off and ROOT?
can anyone tell me from what ver., and Ver. of what, do you have to perform downgrading?
thanks.
No need to downgrade.
Use this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
If u want an ENG bootloader (not needed for custom roms and root, but recommend):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403
You can brick your phone, be careful!

how to root gingerbread
hi everybody,
forgive me if I' writing in the wrong place but for me has been enough difficult to get here..
I'm a rookie android user and I've been flying over the forums for the last three days, I'm really getting crazy.
Here are the specifics of my phone (branded):
android version 2.3.3
kernel version 2.6.35.10-gd2564fb
software number 2.50.405.2
and here's the problem:
I have purchased an AR drone and I'm trying to get it connected so I visited the following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1072281
seems that the first thing i need is a ROOTED Desire HD . I have tried every thing. Visionary (in different releases installed with ASTRO) seems not to be working. When i select Temproot now, after a while, the screen turns black. I waited for several minutes but nothing happened. So I needed to exit the program selecting "home". At that point it didn't allow me to rerun the app, I needed to reboot the phone to get it working again but no success.
So I tried GINGERBREAK 1.2 but after 25 minutes the rebooting process was still going on and I guessed that something was not working properly (as usual), so I stopped it. I think there is also a problem with Superuser (v 2.3.6.3), infact when I try to update it, it says "an error occurred and su was not updated. A zip file (su-2.3.1-bin-signed.zip) has been placed on your sdcard, please reboot into recovery mode and flash it to update your su binary" (by the way...sorry for my inexperience, but what does "flash something" mean????).Anyway, my phone doesn't reboot on clockwork recovery.
Moreover, upon opening Rom manager (v4.3.2.4) it tells me that I must root my phone to get it working (of course) and that it cannot find Superuser at "system/bin/su" or "system/xbin/su". Guess what! I don't have such files on my phone.....
At this time i don't know what else I can do, I'm relly frustrated.
Can anyone help me out? keep in mind that if you have any kind of solution, I need some very "plain" explanation like if you were talking to your 5 years old son, please
Thanks
If we update with software number 2.50.405.2 can we root?
No, firmware > 2.37 cannot be rooted.
Thanks for the info, I guess I have to get rid of my AR Drone
