[Q] Is there a Super One Click update ? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I have a Motorola Atrix.
I rooted it with super 1 click.
a few weeks later ATT/Android did a push of an update and my phone was no longer rooted and an app I really need ANDFIRE (firewall) and it was not working properly.
Additiopnally I was not able to root my phone again.
I talked ATT into replacing the phone because this was an important app.
My new phone was also rooted using Super One Click , however I would like to do the Android update.
The reason for wanting to do the update is my VPN started working smoothly.
If I allow this update is there an update to Super 1 Click that I can root my phone with again?
I already have SDK and adb setup to run on the same pc I rooted with before.
There was a lot of talk on the internet about this issue.
I hope there is a fix.
Please be aware I am new at this.
Thank you

[Q] how to know if your phone os rooteded?

Just wanna know how one can tell if a phone is rooted or not cos i just performed the unrevoked3 rooting and all went well but would still like to confirm either through the phone's setting or other means.Cheers
just install one of the rooted only apps such as the wifi teather app (assuming you are not on froyo yet) if that works then congrats
Whoopy!!!!It worked, just installed the wifi tether app and wholla!!!!Thanks man.Hope'll still be able to install officiall HTC OTA 2.2 in the future and move apps to SDCard.
not sure about the update. I updated mine manually after debranding. My post is still in the first three pages and I have put a small guide there. Having froyo is better than having root in my opinion. Glad its worked for you though. Get the ad blocker app while you have root!

[Q] Will the new Tmobile software update affect my rooted SGH-T989

Yesterday I received a message from Tmobile that there is a new software update for my phone. I was at work and did not want to bother with it so I tried to say not to the update and the only option is to postpone for a maximum of 1 day. To get out of the message I selected the home key. I keep getting the reminder every 4 hours and the message will not go away from notifications drop down screen.
Tmobile seems very eager to push this update out, I rooted my phone about a month ago so I could use the tethering feature when I'm on call without the extra expense, also used Titanium to freeze the bloatware apps as well. Will this software update affect or undo my root access? Does anyone know if the update is good or bad?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Yes you will lose root but it can be rooted easily using the same method. This question has been answered over and over try searching a bit.

Thank you for the information I did see threads on the subject but they were on older software updates.I did not run across one that talked about this latest update, I did not know if there was something different or if the the new update made it difficult to re-root. Some updates may only be beneficial to Tmobile and not the end user. Does anyone have the specifics on the update? Pros and Cons?
I'd like to know if the update is worth it as well.
My phone is currently rooted but I was not the one who did it so I'm afraid to lose root because I wouldn't know how to re-root it.
Is there a way to update without losing root?
I went ahead and updated my phone and it did not undo root. It is a software update that will allow u to upgrade to ICS.

You sure about that? If updating to the UVLDE 2.3.6 GB via OTA, I am pretty sure you lost root. You probably still have the super user app installed, but that in and of itself does not ensure root. Try using a app that requires root access such as Titanium Backup.

Application detects rooted phone

Hi i have a problem with an application from my internet provider called Telenet.
The application name is Yelo, it allows you to watch TV on your android device, great feature heh!
if it would work, ive tested it on my girlfriends Phone wich is not rooted and there it works.
So the application 'Yelo' says to me "you are using a rooted smartphone or tablet, yelo tv does not support these devices.".
so i checked the build number on my girfriends Phone thinking they would try to match that with some database.
So i edited the build.prop rebooted the Phone, but it didnt help.
Does anyone have an idea on how to bypass this check without locking my Phone again?
Thanks, Kind Regards.

You could try the OTA Rootkeeper app. It's not a database match; I'm guessing the app tries to use su.
Also on some ROMs you can turn off root, I know you can on CM.
Fixed

Does this still work for you after the update from november (v 3.1)? On my Desire HD it stopped working since the last update (the one with Rex & Rio). I tried temp unroot with SuperUser (what I have always used) and Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper but neither still does the trick. It keeps saying I have a rooted device and rooted devices aren't supported. Rolled back to the previous version (3.0.4) but when I start it, it forces me to update to the newest version .
I hate Telenet for being so retarted. As if we can't record the live stream using a Windows pc ... which is always 'rooted' and has plenty of apps.
okay

How long did it take for you to root?

I just bought my LG G3 this past weekend and I still want to experience the stock feel and get used to it. I think I'll wait a little while before I root. Maybe a month-ish...if i can hold out that long.

Can you try to add new contacts? Add field.... Events.... Mime FC after click events.

If I were you, I would root while you can. Verizon is notorious for patching root exploits with updates. With rooting, it doesnt wipe anything nor make any changes unless you install apps that make the changes. I would root and install SU and that would be it if I were you. Because you could wake up one morning and accidentally approve an update and then you cant root again until another exploit is found.
Rooted with TowelRoot while I was walking out of the store.

+1. Rooted before I even setup the phone.
Got the phone and went home and set everything up, got in the bed for the night and looked up the root process and I rooted the device with TowelRoot as I was falling asleep.
I really think there's a fundamental misunderstanding as to what root is. I rooted my phone immediately, had it since launch day on T-Mobile, but aside from some minor changes to the status bar and installing cf.lumen to save my eyes at night, it's a stock phone.
"Rooting" your phone doesn't mean installing a custom ROM and making a load of build.prop edits. It just means giving yourself access to the root directory, meaning the system files. Your computer comes with root access right out of the box.
I rooted the G3 because I just don't like the fact that I'm at all limited in how I use my own device that I bought for full ticket price. If I drop $600 on a phone I should be allowed to do whatever I want with it.
Had it about 3 hours then rooted. Benefits of rooting are excellent!
After a few days because I bought Tasker.

I know what root is... It comes from a plant
About 2 weeks after I bought it. Bought it on release so ya wanted to try it out a little, then got so frustated with the lag so, root remove bad stuff etc etc ART = almost lagfree. Still waiting for unlocked bootloader tho.
5 minutes. Root does t change stock feel just unlocks the door of greatness

Got huge problems while updating to 10g caused by rooting the phone with Purpledrake.
Had to go the way with PC-Suite and "repair update errors" to get the 10g
Without that step Phone reboots with message "Root detected, no update"
So, in the moment I´m using the 10g without root waiting for 10i which should be released soon.
Maybe I´ll root the the phone again after next update.
About a day, because I refuse to use an Android phone anymore without Xposed. It's really changed the way I use my phone for the better. No more rom flashing, just stock rom with Xposed and I'm good.
i had to wait about 3 mins had to do setup then root
I rooted the next day. Had to get rid of all that bloatware ASAP!!
20 minutes haha. Used towel root.
I believe an android phone should be rooted as a default. so it's my 1st action.
the first thing I allways do with my new android is rooting it.
After rooting I start setting it up.
on my new tablet and my G3 it took me seconds with towelroot.

to Root or not to Root? Unlocked LG G4 H815

I just got my G4 Unlocked international H815 model. It's running 5.1 software on ATT. It keeps bugging me trying to OTA software update. Not sure what it's trying to update to exactly, because the only way to see more info is to hit continue with update and there's no turning back from there.
I love this phone unlocked! it didn't have any bloatware I usually root to delete when I get my phone from the carrier. It's got stuff like Wifi hotspot stock and the FM radio and charges over QI instead of Powercrap ... etc.
My question is
if it's already got most of the stuff I root to access, do I let the OTA update happen and risk not being able to root?
not sure what all I'd gain.
I'm wary about rooting because my last phone was the LG G3 and I rooted it and despite me disabling all update processes, it updated itself one day on my way to work and got screwed up so bad I had to force a downgrade and put a rom on it and after a couple days of holding a 600$ paperweight, I finally got it up and running on a rom... still had some bugs but it worked.
I REALLY want to avoid that nightmare with this 3 day old phone.
opinions welcome!
Thanks
Are you saying it's already rooted? If it is, the OTA won't work anyway. You have to unroot and flash the update using LG bridge. but then you can just root it again using the same method. The update doesn't block root. Lots of us have done it. Read the rooting threads.
G4 TweaksBox. One reason to root. ^_^
Adaway, no more adverts in apps. another (big for me) reason to root.
What version are you on now? It's probably only the stagefright fix.
Root...flash TWRP...flash cyanogen 12.1
Install xposed framework and get the YouTube adaway module. That's deffo a reason to ROOT.

You need an unlocked bootloader to flash TWRP / CM.
I'm running stock v10d + root. Works awesomely.

Yes mine's unlocked, NOT rooted. apparently the update it was trying to do automatically wasn't a big update because it decided it had waited long enough and did it on its own, rebooted and its still at
5.1
I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the terminology and methods of rooting droids- I came from the dark side- I've jailbroken every iphone since the first one they ever produced. My G3 was my first real phone, but like I said, I had it for a couple months stock, rooted it, and almost immediately it went kamikaze OTA update while rooted and went haywire. I limped by with a mediocre rom for another 8 months, until some drunk A Hole destroyed it on Halloween. I may or may not be said A Hole haha
So I guess now my question is, once rooted, am I stuck at 5.1 forever with no security updates, software patches ETC?
and since most people don't have a true unlocked phone, is this process easier to do? I'm probably asking in the wrong forum section now aren't I?
I sure hope at this point if you truly have an unlocked bootloader, that you have the latest MM version 20B installed and have root! - I find that the stock ROM is the best performing and least buggy of any of them (with some minor tweakin)
Unable to Unlock BootLoader. SOS!!!
Hi guys! need a lil help here. I have LG G4 H815. Now this is what's happening :
1. I have tried t install LG drivers a million times but in the device manager, there's always some problem with them during the installation.
2. Therefore, I'm unable to locate my phone using 'adb devices'. I'm stuck on this first step for last 1 week and I have tried every available lg driver on the internet but still the result is same.
3. I'm using Windows 8 Pro.
What's the solution here guys? Your help will highly be appreciated.
you need "disable driver signature verification" to install it
(advanced reboot options from windows)
Still stuck!

I did as you said and disabled the driver signature verification at restart. Uninstalled the driver and installed again but still the problem persists.
When I connect the phone, LGE Android phone appears with a yellow question mark in the device manager. When I try to update the driver, it says that
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
MTP USB Device.
The system cannot find the file specified."
Still can't locate the device with adb. Please help me!
However bootloader unlock is not available for the H815P... :/
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA-Developers mobile app
But...but...
But sir, my phone is H-815, not H-815P.
Please help me where I'm making the mistake. I want to root my phone but nothing is helping me out.
