Camera application pulled from Samsung Galaxy S2. Some things like flash, higher resolution don't work and need to be cutted from menu. Things like improved contrast needs to be fixed.
Fits to Gingerbread, apply via CWM!
looks good, about to flash
EDIT: OK, all installed - looks amazing, everything looks to working well. Love the see-through menus, the "switch" to change from still images to recording images, the faux camera button.
Very fast, and smooth. Good work, pal...
This galaxy s 2 camera app has only 800 ISO mode, but if I'm not wrong galaxy S has 1600, is there anyway to get ISO 1600 with the app from galaxy s 2?
very nice job!! Well done!! The only thing that must be fix is the front camera (has a wrong angle vertical/ horizondal).
Didnt work for me, can anyone post original camera from jvb?

thanks!
works on Galaxy S Vibrant
looks great!
I'm on JVB and the camera wasn't working.
With this installed, everything works perfect. Thanks!
Unfortunatelly it is pretty hard to edit this app because of completely different architecture, from what I see app is using compiled code to draw interface, no longer simple .xml work :/
Can somebody fix the front camera ?!....it has a wrong angle
Works great, looks much slicker than stock SGS
hmmm. so im flashing this with cwm, and the install is successful, but it still doesnt show up when I reboot. do i need to remove the old app? if so, how would i do this? on a side note, im trying to install this on a captivate. thanks in advance

Ave!
Thank you very much, great work!
Is it not possible to disable shutter sound? cant find the setting for that.
Helo! Im flashing this with cwm, and the install is successful, but it still doesnt show up when I reboot my phone ( juwe room v. 1.5 no wipe ) and my old application of camera has disappeared. How can I fix that? Thanks for help

This is the newest release of MIUI, version 1.9.2, although it still is in development and not stable by their means, stable for me (changelog http://miuiandroid.com/)
I am using rubbachicken's META-INF update script! Also the camera is (partially) working due to his attempts.
It feels like we are close to a full working camera when you go to setting in camera and enable play back. It shows the picture with some options on the side, and the picture app is still responsive, it is just there is a "cannot connect to camera" dialog box in the way. I am really wondering what is causing the problem!
Other differences I see about this rom is that the camera video quality is a ton better, and the auto brightness works great (didn't really work before for some reason).
If anyone has any ideas about the camera, post them please!

Excellent, gonna try it later, when my internet is fine!
I have seen that BRAVO forums dont have too much traffic, I wish there were many people asking for more so that developers could get more motivation.
There are great roms for defy and almost all of them run in our BRAVOs, the only problem is the camera, but I know we will get it soon.
I hope on these roms we can get another camera working besides action snap because auto focus was a feature i loved

I have a question. Does anyone know if you're able to run the stock camera from the Incredible 2 rom on CM7? If so, can someone running rooted stock Incredible 2 upload the APK? If not, can someone suggest a better camera than the CM7 camera?
Thanks

You cannot. The framework is different from an AOSP Rom vs a Sense Rom. Many people hate it because that vanilla camera In CM7 is ugly lol
Sent from my Rinky Dinky DInc2
I was afraid it was a sense based camera. I guess the only other option is dealing with MIUI or this ****ty CM7 camera. It's fine except I'm one that hates random flashes of different colors come across my screen so when the green flashes, it bugs the living hell out of me lol.
How are you liking the Sensation 2.0 rom and the dirty chad kernel? Also, your 225 radio you have installed, does it work better than the 622 radio? I seem to get no reception on mine and I live close to a tower lol.
Yea, that camera IS the reason I do not use AOSP roms

I love it, the smoothest so far for me. And the kernel is one he posted for another ROM, it just happens to work fine for this one. Charges faster and has profiles you can change as far as governors and voltage modifications.
The radio I'm running is still the stock radio by the way. I haven't messed with that yet. Haven't ran into anything major. I live out in the boonies and get 1X so I don't really care, I gots WiFi

The radios vary depending on where you are located. I'm going to try one of the GB radios when I get around to it lol. Its pretty much play around with em and see which one works best over a day or two (per radio)

MIUI camera isn't too bad and there's a flashable version of it floating around here somewhere (compatible with CM7). My question would be around photo quality. Would a picture taken with a stock phone look the same as a photo taken with the MIUI camera (in 8mp mode) if printed out? It seems the sense camera is optimized for our resolution, but is overall picture quality any worse with MIUI? or does it have to do with the hardware?

It's an APK file so that means it is either installable or if that's not the case, you place it in /system/app and set the permission correctly
Permissions: can be set with root explorer
Owner - read, write, execute
Group - read
Others - read
The APK one should have working FFC capabilities. I've tried it out before starting this thread and it works great and looks very similar to the stock camera, except for the fact that when you take a picture, the screen flashes green which I can't stand. It's annoying but it does take pictures of the same quality as the AOSP camera. The other issue with the camera is that when the camera shows whatever it does, it is stretched, yet when you take the picture, it fixes itself and takes a normal picture. Quirky, but still works.

I'm worried that if I try to flash the stock radio that I would brick the phone because the stock radio is for Froyo FW and CM7 is Gingerbread. lol

This is the Miui camera I use with CM 7.
Since I couldn't really see any need of wanting to use the stock camera, I renamed the apk to "camera" and replaced the stock camera app in the system folder, changed the permissions/ownership and good to go. (I did make a .bak of the stock CM 7 for a just in case moment)
I like the Miui camera app. I didn't have FFC with it though. I do though now using the latest Miui Rom though...

I assume your referring to camera's? If so, I prefer the Miui camera over the CM 7 camera.
As far as rom preference, I like both, but currently I'm using Miui.
When taking photos using the Miui camera on the Miui rom, the only thing that flashes green is just the viewfinder box. The actual screen just goes black.
I'd have to flash back to CM 7 to see if the camera flashes the screen green or not. I don't remember now if it did or didn't. I don't think it did, but I don't want to say that it didn't without checking...
I flashed MIUI earlier and it seemed nice, a little different than what I'm used to in CM7, but what I did notice that I absolutely dislike is that 1) I tried to restore back to CM7 and when going through the ROM manager, it said that my phone was essentially not rooted anymore (more specifically that superuser permissions wasn't giving ROM manager the permissions and I went into SU and checked and it was installed, updated, and was supposed to be giving permissions where it needed to be), and 2) Whenever you drag an icon off the screen to remove the icon, it only wants to uninstall the app. Other than that, it seems like a decent ROM.
Yup, the last couple of updates to Miui has had to have the permissions set on SU. Don't know what happened that it has to be that way. It didn't used to be that way.
I also don't care to much for the Miui Launcher, and it's unremovable apps (you can make folders though, and place the apps in there, but still not quite what I like). To Iphone for me... I use the Adw ex launcher (same that I use on CM 7)
Really, my version of Cm 7 and Miui are almost twins... Basically the only diff is in the menus and a few cosmetics.
CM 7 on the left, Miui on the right...
Holy ****! Finally someone else that has this same problem!

Well, I think we would have camera working a long time ago, the problem is that none of them have a bravo to work with it.
Once there was someone who was talking about buying a bravo to a recognized dev from here, but nothing was done.

About ICS, I think we should take an ICS rom now and work with the camera, since I think it has no defy lib for the camera.
What do you think?
that's cool! we hope have ICS in Moto Bravo!,
Hi,
I've created a flashable zip based on the files extracted by dmmarck (it's all his doing! I'm just packaging it). Just flash from CWM or TWRP.
Everything should work: regular pics, photosphere, gallery and editor. On my device, it all coexists nicely with my existing camera and gallery.
Edit: just noticed that garner had updated his own thread with more things working. It seems his archive contains fewer files, which is great if you want to save space. If it's not working for you, though, try this version.
Thanks cyansmoker!
For me garner's zip didnt work. Yours did!

the ONLY problem I am having with the photosphere is that it seems to snap pictures when the blue dot isnt directly center of the target. Its close to but not directly center which leads to most of my pictures being "off" from one another.. I wonder if theres a way to slow down the speed or pause it for a second so the blue dot lines up correctly

In my case, I found out that actually slowing down while panning with my phone made things better. I guess my phone was having a hard time figuring out what I was aiming it at.
i've tried to slow it down also (this isnt the panorama selection but the photosphere), but once the blue dot to line up the next shot gets close to the target recticle center where it should be(might be a better word), it snaps the next picture before even getting in the center if that makes sense
I get force close when opening both camera and gallery app. Hmm.. not sure what's wrong though.

I believe that as long as you delete /system/app/GalleryGoogle.apk and reboot your phone, you should have access to your old camera.
Of course it is different from ROM to ROM...

rename the gallery2.apk to gallery.bak, then try to install. I dont see a gallery4 on mine (current Bamf), just a GALAXY4, which is a lwp and googlegallery is what the new one is (I think).

I found the silent camera for FI11 in the Potatoman thread but it doesn't seem to be working properly. Every time I open it, screen goes black, and I have to pull battery and restart my phone.
I already deleted the camera sounds, but as you know the focus sound is part of the actual apk.
Anyone know where I might be able to get another stock camera without sounds?

I might give your ROM a try. I've used various CM mods in the past and they're mostly stable but sometimes GPS messes up or volume doesn't go all the way up... I just had my phone replaced so I wasn't looking to flash it but I'm starting to get that itch again. Thanks for the info. I'll probably do it tonight.
You can modify a config file in /system/ to enable the mute feature inside the app. I forgot specifics, I'm sorry, but I think you might find it with a search. Hopefully someone will see this and post the details
