[Q] Can I install carrier update? - Defy General

My carrier just released the official update to 2.2. I'm with CM7 now, can I just plug the device and update it? Or will I need to flash an older ROM?

Flash

Hi all,
I have the flash that came with the Froyo update on my phone.
But when I open the market I also see the flash for download.
Is there a difference in the too?
When there is an update for flash how do I get it? since the current flash is not being recognized in the market.
BTW the one in the market is newer.
Thanks

You need to download the flash from the market as this is indeed the update. Once you have done it the market will recognise you have flash and then you will be notified of further updates. It's the same story with the Facebook app.
Thanks

Update OTA , help needed ! ! !

Can i update the OTA on a rooted Evo through Rom manager ?
I'm using the stock Rom Froyo 2.2
Should I update ? Do I need to update ?

If you want to update, download a rooted stock rom and flash. If you already have a stock rooted 2.2, it isn't necessary to flash the new 3.70 release....the new release is just a sprint maintenance upgrade...you really wont see any new functionality.

Is it okay to install official OTA if S-OFF with Alpharev HBoot?

Answered at least a million times.
It doesn't work no matter what you try. My Desire's now back to factory default because I sent it off to be factory reflashed after rooting it and finding no way to install the latest OTA update.
All the threads with people having issues after doing it says something different. Also a Ruu should have worked fine to get latest official rom. Which is the way to go if you don't want a custom rom but do want the latest OTA update.

I need an answer. Can you, or can you not? Has anyone tried it and been successful?
I tried and been successful. The code group versions are 4 for cg31 and cg39.

Awesome Now I can flash with confidence!
It absolutely works!! I've done it more times than I can count... In fact you can downgrade back to 3.6.360 coming from any rom currently available to date.. Well I have never tried coming back from the new Arabic 2.2 Rom that just dropped (3.4.3-20) but I've flashed back from 3.4.3-11
I flashed successfully
