Hi, I am planning on getting a desire today, it is cdma (doesn't use sim cards). I would like to know, is it possible to root it? if so, could you please give me a link to do it?

Yes, I believe you can root cdma. Should be a forum here.
Check for the Bootloader version - if it is the latest 1.06 or higher, then not yet.

Hi, I have a HTC Hero Eureopean version that I bought in Canada before Telus announce that Hero was comming to Telus. I was able yesterday to downgrade to version RUU 2.73.405.5 using the Gold Card method. Works fine
Now I was wondering is there a way to flash the radio of the european version with the one for the US and Canada so I can get 3G data transfer instead of old EDGE. I already set up the APN with Rogers and works ok on EDGE (for now)

If you cant do it with your goldcard, You'll need to route your device, then do it with flashrec or sumat theres a few guides in the hero section

I'm new, and i'm glad to be a member of this great forum!
I've lot of confusion about the sim unlocking on my HTC Tattoo branded Orange.fr to my Wind SIM (italian)
After a series of research on google, i've understand that i've two options:
- The first one is buy a sim unlocker in a shop like Dealextreme
- The second one is root the Tattoo and install a ROM that doesn't have sim locking
But... i've some questions:
1. Have I well understand what i've to do?
2. It's better to have some crapy chinese unlocking stuff or doing some tricky hacking software procedure?
3. Wich ROM do u suggest me?
3.1 Is true that if i flash other roms i lose the radio and the camera?
3.2 Is it better use a rom based on android 1.6 or android 2.x? Why?

The debranded firmware on the Tattoo doesn't solve the unlocking issue.
We have one in store that is still waiting for a solution. To root/debrand is the same as the Hero, but the sim unlock code still doesn't get accepted after flashing. That's as far as i've got with it!
Unless something has occurred recently that i've missed that's all i can help with for now!

Now i've unlocked it by using the IMEI code, but even now can't i install a costum ROM on my HTC Tattoo?
First post, still need to know some information i need before continuing with flashing 2.2 or 2.3 on my desire. *Edit* the firmware is 2.1-update1 currently.
I have a CDMA desire with GCI here in Alaska (i dont think they will be updating this to 2.2 anytime soon) the stock RUU rom: Baseband- 2.05.10.08.11 Software number- 1.28.557.4 I cannot find this online so i can do a stock flash if it needs warranty service. Would anyone know were i could get this version?
I have not been able to find out if flashing would disable my connection to my provider when i flash it or it would result in me loosing my phone number with my provider because it is CDMA.
I have been looking into this post here, I just want to know about the two questions before i continue the process of flashing.

I am having HTC Desire HD on 2.3.3 which is SIM LOCKED on Softbank. I wish to know if there is any method to UNLOCK the phone without downgrading to Froyo [Android 2.2]

Sorry to hijak, but guidogsbn - where did you get your M8 Dual SIM?
I live in thailand and ordered one from ebay - the model I got was the M8d - which appears to be CDMA Sim 1 and GSM Sim 2 - which is not what I need. I need Sim 1 and Sim 2 to be both GSM
I am told by the vendor that he has a solution to the problem and I need to send the phone back - but I dont believe there is any software solution to this and it means a complete change of device
So is your Dual sim both GSM? What is the model code on the device? Where did you buy it from - preferably website in english
