I know for one, if your on Froyo, damianGTO ultimate kernel has touch screen sensitivity settings. That's if you know how to apply custom kernels etc...

Ive searched high and low for a way to adjust colors without having to change the stock kernel
Is there a way to do it? I mostly want to get rid of the grey/purple stuff at low brightness and maybe improve the colors(no that it needs much improvement)
Im running stock JB
Thanks in advance

Purple greys at low brightness are a hardware defect. Adjusting that would make other colors appear very strange.

And no, as far as I know those changes require a kernel that supports it...
If you do change though, the trinity kernel for jb makes the colors look much better

Is it fast/ compared to stock JB kernel? Ive been told that with jb is better to stick to stock kernel for best performance and battery life

Look for the Trickster Mod app in the app section. It allows for tweaking the colours as well if you have a compatible kernel.

Just curious if any has been able to lower their dpi on this phone? If so, on what rom and was it done manually or with app?
I always love to make things as small as possible to get more screen size and have typically (in the past) used a great program LCD Density Modder Pro to do so.
When I first got the phone I did successfully use it once to do so but since then after many rom changes and mods I can't do it anymore. It goes through but after reboot it never makes it back to is and hangs. Would love to be able to do so.
If you do so please let me know how?
Thanks

Rom toolbox pro best app out there for any rom changes
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Definitely Rom Toolbox Pro. I used to use LCD Density Modder Pro too. I current set my screen to either 220 or 240. Running 220 now with not too many issues. If you are on ICS, you will need a different dialer program such as exDialer. If you are on Jellybean, the stock dialer works just fine, though you will see some overlap issue in the recent calls list at 220.
ROM toolbox. The lite version works fine for DPI changes. Make sure you back up first.
I'm using 280.
Manually edit it. Open build.prop in your system folder. Go 20 or 30 lines down and you'll see:
ro.sf.lcd_density=320
Change 320 to whatever. Don't go too low or too high. It technically will boot but screen won't be visible. I don't know what too high or too low is. I run at 280. Lowest I've been

Could I see some screen shots of this? I always ran my gnex at 280. Do you guys have market issues such as incompatible apps with a lower dpi?

I was just going to ask the same thing. In the past changing the dpi would cause compatibility issues in the market but Density Modder Pro had the fix built in and it worked great. It also allowed for testing changed settings first.
Is it just not supported on this phone anymore? Does Rom Toolbox have a market fix or a test first?

Looks pretty messed up at 280 with touchwiz
Don't use lcd_density modder pro to change dpi. Just use it for the market fix.

Oh so I can still use density modder pro for the fix!?.. that's awesome if so. So just changing dpi manually is recommended? Or with rom toolbox as well? And then use modder pro for market fix?
And on this phone (north American S3) what's the lowest (successful) dpi it can operate at?
Thanks to anyone who can answer these.

You got it! As far as lowest dpi. I've went as low as 250 with no problem. But have heard numbers as low as 220.

I used ROM Toolbox Lite for the change, then LCD Density Modder Pro for market fix.
I reccomend Apex launcher which works well at other DPIs.
Hello everybody i bought this fantastic device 3 days ago and it performs very well...
i've already tried many custom Roms, but the one i like is the stock jelly bean rom, but it has some problems...
the Audio is too low, i tried Volume+ on Market but is not compatible with JB, so do you have any suggestions? any zip file to flash?
the other things i don't like is the auto brightness sensor... it keep the light too low. is there some mod to fix this?
i would like also to Flash franco.kernel with 384oc GPU, do you suggest me? is it possible to fix the other two problems only flashing francokernel?
PS: do you know some trick to manage the status led?
..for the status led, I'm using LightFlow, even bought it for 1.7euro (free version doesn't have FB and some others) ... not like i did much research , Lite version did what i wanted it to do, so i bought full. .. is not that much when you pay ~400 for a phone..
ok for lightflow, is fantastic!
but someone know how can I improve the autoBrightness and the volume?? is very important for me!
are there any roms that is capable of doing these two thins?
For auto brightness try lux auto brightness from play store, the best application to control the brightness in automatic mode.
For sound you need a custom kernel,go to development section.

Hello Cristian, I've got my GNex about 4 days and I found the same flaws you described, so I downloaded the Nexus toolkit to unlock the bootloader, root it, and install recovery, once I did that I installed the franco kernel, the kernel updater gives you the option to modify the colors and the brightness, I hate the yellowish white that the screen has by default so I would strongly recommend you to use the settings recommended by franco to tune up the screen and to use a static brightness, my screen looks amazing now. In regards to the audio, the app has an option to improve it however it only applies for the headphones, not for the speaker (at least I couldn't notice any difference). For the LEDs use lightflow pro. Cheers!

I have the exact same problem as you with the yellow whites. What did you change with the colors?
Did you add more blue and remove more red and green?

What Note II ROM should I go with if I prioritize the following...?
- Highly customizable with loads of configuration-options.
- Good speed, low battery consumption.
- The ability to use S-Pen with pressure sensitivity.
Another question... what is the difference between a ROM and a "Kernel"?

How is stock better than for example the Omega recommended above? Just wondering
Hey y'all
I'm using marius.a's ICS ROM (found here) but would like to activate the trackball to wake up the phone.
I've tried ButtonRemapper (no option for trackball) and WidgetLocker (trackball wake option) doesn't work
Can anyone extract the trackball wake for me or point me in the right direction???
Yes, me too. Really like marius.a's ROM. If it could be wake on by track ball, it will be better.
