I'm going back to stock, and I just want to make sure I'm doing it right. I downloaded the RUU file, so now what do I do? Obviously I connect my phone to the computer, but then what?
Also, will this delete EVERYTHING off my phone, making it like brand new? Or do I need to do a factory data reset in settings first? I'm obviously not running stock rom.
Anyone?????
Yes it will erase everything. Just not stuff on emmc and your SD card.

So how exactly do I use it? I've never done it before. Got my phone connected, htc sync recognizes it, now I don't know where to go from here.
Honestly I find it much easier to just use the PB31IMG.zip version. Esp. since I have a Mac.
Simply download THIS and rename it exactly PB31IMG.zip. Put it on the root of your SD card, first make sure it is formatted to FAT32 or else hboot won't see it. Then boot into hboot, with the phone off PWR + VOL DWN. And wait a while for it to recognize and verify the image.
But first you will want to run S-ON to get totally back to stock. Do that in recovery first, flash like a ROM.

That's the method I tried first, but hboot doesnt see the PB31IMG.zip. The reason I wanted to try the RUU method is because I have no idea if my sd card is fat32, and if it isn't, how I get it to that.

Your SD card must not be FAT32. Backup everything on it, then in Windows XP/7 I assume, right click it when it's mounted, and select format. From the drop down menu you can choose FAT32. Then it will format it erasing everything. Then you can put the image back on and flash it through hboot. Did you run S-ON?
Should look something like this:

That's what I get when I try to perform a Nandroid backup.. any ideas, this is how I did it on my old hero phone..
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I had that same problem. Only way I was able to fix it was to delete some of the excess files from my SD card. I had a bunch of old backups, so I deleted them and it worked fine after that...
I already deleted the Nandroid folder. I have 6 gig free on SD, even tried different SD card.

Save everything on your sd, and repartition it.
That happened to me when my battery is below 30%
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Full charge.... also on hboot2.02 A-off if that helps..
Also changed SDs and did all that
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
yeah its the under 30% battery thats causing that for SURE
just charge the phone and try again
You could always try running "nandroid-mobile.sh" via adb.
"Nand backup" works fine for me but "Nand + ext backup" (which is what you did) produces the same error that you show. I think the "+ ext" part is looking for an ext3 partition on your sdcard.
That makes sense, I'm used to my hero with 2.2 with apps2sd... I moved my installed apps to SD.. I'm assuming .android secured? Will that be backed up ?

*sigh* Did you try doing what it says to? Y'know... Run the script from adb shell? That usually tells you what's wrong...
i had the exact same issues as both of you. I had to repartition my sd card, then run nandroid.sh from adb then try it in recovery.
battery was always @ 100%

running from adb will usually produce an error in terminal as well
Tell it to move the recovery log to your sdcard and take a look at it, that should tell you whats wrong with it.
I thought if you had hboot 2.02 or 2.10 you need to use the new modded Aman RA-1.9. Flash the new recovery and see if you problems disappear.
I have been rooted for like 6 months now and have never really had any issues until last week. Started getting fcs on media and a lot of reboots. Flashed a couple different ROMs and stayed away from any custom kernels still having issues. So I decided to start fresh and not use TB to restore any apps, but now I keep having problems with data not working and my apps are disappearing. The last time I flashed Sprint Lovers after wiping everything and flashing the format all .zip and then I redownloaded all of my apps from the market. Everything seemed fine for a day or two and now all hell has broke loose once again. Any one have any tips or suggestions I really don't want to unroot.

Well what symptoms are you having? Are your radios up to date, and did you install on a clean install?
Apps keep disappearing and my data randomly stops working. I'm pretty sure my radio and pri are up to date. I've ran Sprint Lovers before with no problems.

Have you installed any sdcard speed fixes?
~ d3rk
No, haven't tried anything like that. How long does the factory SD card usually last? Could it be starting to fail?

Did you have the apps on sd? Maybe that's the problem. Sdcards usually last for years but sometimes they can corrupt.
~ d3rk
I'm not sure if those ones were or not but its possible. That could possibly explain the media fcs when my phone would ring with a custom ring tone.

One more thing I just discovered. YouTube is one of the apps that disappeared and I go to the market and try to download it and it starts to download then nothing happens. Also most for the HTC widgets are gone now.

This sounds exactly like a corrupted sd man. How is it working now? Did you do a full wipe and start over?
~ d3rk
I've been having problems since I did a full wipe including flashing a format all .zip. When I get more time I might try formatting my SD card.

Start from scratch. Copy the contents of your SD card onto your computer or external hard drive. Download a fresh copy of the rom you want to flash as well as a fresh copy of amon RA v2.3. Place the PC36IMG.zip for amon RA on the root of your card and then shutdown your device. Enter the bootloader by pressing simultaneously, the down volume button and the power button until your device starts. When it starts, you'll enter the bootloader screen and pause briefly until a few lines of text scroll across the screen. Afterwards, the bootloader will automatically detect the PC36IMG.zip file and prompt you to install. Follow the prompts to install. The installation process will last less than 10 seconds. Afterwards, reboot into recovery and then go to the wipe menu and select "wipe SD card". Your card will then be formatted. Now individually select to wipe everything in the wipe menu except the SD card, being that you just wiped it. Afterwards, select return at the top. Connect your device, if not already connected, to your computer via USB and then select the "MS-USB". A drive should appear on your computer. If you have a Mac, it will appear on your desktop. Copy the rom you want to flash onto the card. Unmount the card from the computer FIRST and then unmount it from recovery by selecting the power button. Go into the flash menu and flash the rom. Afterwards, reboot into your new homescreen and then update your profile in the settings menu if you're using a sense based rom. Hopefully, your issue will be resolved. Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend..

CREDIT: First of all this is not my tutorial and all credit goes to Adam Parnala for creating this easy tutorial. I decided to bring it to us off the web for easier access. Please remember to use caution while trying to modify anything on your phone. It is your responsibility to follow the instructions to the letter else you may cause some problems. I have used this particular guide several times on other phones and this one as well. Root is required.
Link2SD can move not only the application file, but also the dalvic-cache and library files of the application. This means that data will be the only one left to consume your internal memory thus installing applications and games would be easier because you can install anything you want without worrying about the famous low memory problem. Furthermore, Link2sd covers all files even moving widgets and the unmovable applications to the 2nd partition of your SD card. Please be advised that your version may not look the same and mine but the information should not have changed. I strongly suggest that you download and install busybox too.
This is a step by step guide on how you can run Link2SD on your device. This tutorial will work for both stock and custom ROMs. Follow all the instructions carefully to eliminate possible problems.
1. First you have to download Mini Tool Partition Wizard Manager. You can download it HERE.
2. Insert your SD card to a card reader and open it on your computer.
3. Back up all your files to the computer because partitioning will wipe your data.
4. Open Mini Tool in your computer. Locate your SD card (be careful in choosing and make sure not to choose the drive of your computer)
5. Right click and choose Delete.

6. Right click on it again and choose Create New. Create “FAT32″ partition (This is where all your media files will go. Be sure to make it bigger than the 2nd part)
7. Select “Create as: PRIMARY”
8.Next, create an ext2/ext3/ext4 partition. This is where your apps will go so I suggest you allocate enough memory for your purposes.
9.Select “Create As: PRIMARY” (make sure that it is both set to primary because it will not work if it is not set to primary)
10. Click the “Apply” button on the top left corner and wait for it to finish the process. Done.
11.Put back your SD card to your phone and switch it on.
12. Download and install Link2sd from Google Play Store. .
13. Open Link2sd and you will be asked for root privileges so allow it. You will be prompted to choose between ext2, ext3, ext4 and FAT32. Select the one that you picked earlier.
14. It will say mount script created. Reboot your phone now.
15. Open link2sd and if the message doesn't show up, you succeeded
.
16. Go to Link2sd>Settings>check the autolink (to automatically move apps upon installation)
17. If you already have some apps, select the app you wish to move then select “Create Link” (be sure to check the three files: app, dalvic-cache and library files)
18.
19. To check your memory, select “Storage Info”. This will show you the current state of your internal memory, FAT32, and ext* partition.
Now you’re done and ready to install vast amount of applications as you wish!
unable to use 2nd partition
After done everything I am only able to link the 1st partition.'fat32, . Nothing is going to 2nd partition I,e- sdexnt2.
In setting menu I add this also but nothing is moving to the second partition help
Sdext2 should not work because artas182x said that only sdext3 is the only partition that works with his cwm.

I don't have an SD card reader on my PC can I still proceed without doing a save to PC?
I've been having this problem on my i747(16GB, 4.1x JB, rooted with CWM) for a few months now, but they just got worse as time went on. I've yanked every possible picture, video (what few I had ), and apps I could think of; I copied off/deleted old CWM and TB backups, and it STILL gives me the dreaded "not enough storage space" message. The last time I recovered about 2GB, but that lasted less than a month, and that's AFTER I set the camera to store on the extSDcard (8GB, has about 6.3GB left this go 'round), and moved the maybe 2gb of music I've had lately.
I'd show you the Storage screeshot: but I don't have enough memory to take a picture--it only has 392m available now!! :WTF: so I took a picture with my tablet:

I started that process about 40 minutes ago... And it STILL hasn't reported anything!!!
Also, I cannot uninstall anything, either thru the application manager or the play store. I've booted to recovery, wiped cache (no option in my CWM to wipe dalvik), wiped dalvik with CWM app after boot, and deleted every possible app, text, and picture I can find--oh, and the picture gallery won't open because I don't have enough memory. I've dug thru every possible directory with ES File Explorer, and deleted everything I can think of that was expendable... And still no luck. I can't gain squat. And I STILL can't get the phone to uninstall any apps at all. AT ALL.
And: this go'round took less than three weeks for the phone to clog itself like an overloaded toilet---i thought only Winblows had this kind of memory problems!!!
I'm working now on copying any data I can, and making an app list, before I try a factory reset. I've unmounted the extSDcard, and will remove it before I reset.
But I still need advice. I need to know what's going on, what's wrong, and how to fix it for freaking good, because given the logarithmic rate of decay I'm seeing, the next clog up will take about a week--and THAT will send me into a psychotic break and probably into the back door of the nearest att location with a silenced uzi! [/I'M JUST KIDDING HSA!!!]
Thanks in advance...
I had a problem similar to this, although not quite as extreme but it turned out to be the lost+found folder in the /system folder (i think, there is one there and on each sd card). Not sure about ES explorer but root explorer would show it as empty until i gave the folder full permisions, and even then couldn't modify it. I ended up using the file explorer in TWRP to delete the contents of the folder. With CWM you can load up aroma file manager from the recovery and delete the junk that way. If you've never used it before you 'flash' it like you would any other zip but it doesn't actually flash anything, just loads up into memory and gets dumped when you exit so it shouldn't be a problem with your low storage.
I'm pretty sure I hard bricked my S3. I go to turn it on and all it will do is vibrate once. I can't get into download, or recovery. Before that it would get stuck at the galaxy s3 boot image, and I could get into both download and recovery. I tried factory reset and what not and well now I'm here.
