Hey guys, somehow I lost my marketplace and flashing gapps isn't getting the market place on my phone so I'm wondering if I install the latest version of the market's apk would I be ok?
Can someone upload the latest .apk here. Thanks in advanced.

jus unzip the apk, from the gapps, and go to system/apps
and take out Vending.apk and push it in your phone

Hello again, my question of the day is that i successfully upgraded to 4.0.3 ICS and flashed the latest gapps, therefore i can get market, maps etc. However, i found out that google maps has got an update and i tried to update it through play store. Then it said package file was not signed correctly. What can i do in order to get the update? Do i need to wait for the gapps package to help me to upgrade the maps ? thx a lot
Just delete your maps app and install directly from the market rather than update it.

Hey guys, i tried flashing a theme which was the circular battery percentage w/15 toggles last night, via cwm and when i rebooted after flashing it took longer than usual and when it finally booted i got a pop up saying " unfortunately system ui has stopped working" how do I fix it? i didnt have any backup (yes I know im a genius), now, i was wondering, does any of you guys have the stock system ui files to flash it via cwm?

you dont intall it rename your old systemui.apk to systemui.bak and place the new one in the same spot it should be system/app then reboot your phone and it should work or you can reflash your rom with out wipe and that will fix it too

Use an app called root explorer or ef file explorer push the systemui.apk in system/app, set the permissions and then reboot your phone.

is there any tweak i must know of in order to replace/rename the file systemui.apk it doesn't let me do anything because it's a read only file
and does it matter if mine is a telus i747m?

root explorer, with superuser permissions
ok when your in the folder where systemui is click mount r/w at the top of the screen then you can rename it
thanks man, you saved my life right there, now, the other question is, where did you get the systemui.apk file? and could I find it for a galaxy note i717d as well?

as for the note you should be able to pull it from a stock rom in its section on these forums

I lost Google play on my one v and upon checking the system apps i no longer see the odex phonesky.odex file. Can I just download any rom and grab the odex file from that rom to make it work? what permission do i set it?
any other way to fix this?

restoring an odex will not help as the play store most probably updated itself to newer version when you use it.

Thanks. I was struggling with all the apk that I downloaded and wont work with the normal package installer. What I did was copy and paste using root explorer, set proper permission then integrate it to rom using titanium backup and rebooted and i worked.
I have installed the MildWild ROM on my old Desire (which my partner uses). This one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1453287
I have tried installing the Google Talk app from that page plus also other apk versions from various places but none seem to work. They either fail to install or force close when started. All other apps are fine and the ROM is quite good, stable and quick.
Can anyone help with a fix please. Or link to a guaranteed gtalk apk.

are you flashing the zips in recovery? Try downloading the zip from the page, extract it and take the apk out of it. Then using a root explorer, move the apk into /system/app and change the permissions to rw-r-r

No, I was just doing a normal apk install, I didn't realise it was a system app. I will try this when I can.

I've been trying to update Gmail through the Play Store but it keeps giving me an error "Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again.". I don't really know what to do past this point, I'm guessing I have to flash the new version but I can't seem to find the link to it. Anyone have any links to the latest gmail or gapps I can get? Thanks in advance.

Because gmail is now in the play store it isn't included in some gapps. If you are using Task's aokp ROM with his gapps, it can't be updated as he's modified it for his dark ui.
If you really wanted to uninstall it go into /system/app and delete gmail.apk
Reboot and you'll be able to install it in the play store.

Just gonna add to this that if you delete and install from the Play Store, the Dark UI won't work on it.
Thanks! Uninstalled and reinstalled through store worked. In case anyone stumbled on to this thread in the future I uninstalled through Titanium Backup, and rebooted. Deleting the APK didn't work for me for some reason.
