Hi, I hope someone can help, I have searched for answers but can't find an answer that works...
I have rooted my Desire and installed ROM Manager, and am now trying to flash ClockworkMod Recovery from there. It asks to confirm device as htc deire which I do, then a minute later it says "An error occurred while downloading your recovery".
This is as far as I have got, my ultimate goal being to backup the phone and install GingerVillain.
Any help is appreciated
Well.... you already have clockworkmod recovery flashed when you rooted the phone, that's if you did it via unrevoked.
I should also point out that there are a lot of users and the servers that use Rom Manager can't cope with all the traffic recently.
Okay, thanks - I didn't realise that was the case - I did use unrevoked but was just blindly following a guide to back up the phone:
w w w addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-perform-and-restore-a-nandroid-backup
which I was referred to at: w w w addictivetips.com/mobile/install-ginger-villain-rooted-android-2-3-gingerbread-rom-on-htc-desire
I'll carry on after work... fingers crossed i'll be on GingerVillain tonight!
Thanks

Hello,
i'm having a problem with my htc desire that i cannot resolve.
Yesterday an update came to my (Rooted ) Desire and messed everything up!
My clockwork mod recovery is gone, and it's now the stock's recovery.
When i turn the phone on, it gets stuck at the HTC logo...
I tried to Flash another Rom, but the stock recovery won't let me, it gives me
the message ("Signature verification failed")
I tried all of the RUU updates (That should be compatible )using fast-boot, But it
says that i need to get the right Update utility or something.
Anyone know of any other methods that helps me to flash clockwork mod, or another rom Without booting up(Being inside the OS).
Have a search of this forum.
There's many threads about the problem you're having.
BTW you shouldn't really be applying any OTA updates to a rooted rom.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
OK, Sorry i should've searched first.
I appreciate your help, Thanks.
Please edit your post title to include information of your problem. Simply having a Q as the title is not acceptable.
Ok. I have the motorola defy mb525. rooted and with titanium and busybox
System Version 3.6.190.mb525.t-mobile.en.us
Firmaware 2.1 update 1
kernel 2.6.29
build jordn_u3_6.19.0
BP FLEX usajrdntmob1b4b5de1028.or
AP FFLEX GAS_na_jordantmo_po22
My problems are these:
I tried to do the nandroid backup; stuck on a boot loop. Try to flash a different rom; stuck at the M symbol. tried the one where you can do the rom on the phone itself w/o having to flash; stuck on the M.
Also, there is an update out and I can't install it. when it brings me to the screen with the triangle with the exclamation in it it loads just under half and stops. when i check it says applying patch to audiopostcard failed. now I'm on the hunt for the the stock bloat apps to install the update.
Ultimately, i am trying to install froyo. This is the third and last phone I can get from the carrier and if i **** this one up I will get an equal or lesser valued phone. I can't have that. I thought I was good at following instructions but obviously I'm an ass.
Can somebody please help with detailed and specific instructions. To help me with this I would definitely buy a beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In advance, I greatly appreciate and thank you for your time and help.

Hi All,
I rooted my unbranded/unlocked HTC desire using the unrevoked method successfully and loaded a custom rom on there which I have been using for about 1 year.
Needless to say it is now time for an update from (Paul's r9 to r11), however when I tried to install a new rom in recovery, nothing happens.
I boot my phone into recovery (clockworkmod v. 2.5.0.7) and delete all user data, cache, and the dalvik cache and then choose to install .zip from sd card.
I choose the .zip and go install, the it looks like it's working fine, the log says it's opening the package but then it just suddenly disappears and goes back to the recovery screen again as if nothing has happened.
When I reboot my phone, it just goes back to being reset but still using the old rom (r9).
Now all I want is to restore it back to the stock WWE version, but they all seem to be in .exe format...
Please tell me what I can do...
Thanks so much.
For flashing another rom I would try newer version of clockworkmod if yours don't work.
If you want to go back to stock, just run RUU. Like you said it's an .exe, so nothing you can do wrong.
Whats your erase size?
Thanks for your responses, I'm kind of new to all this.
Actually I started looking for solutions about 3 months ago but there's just so many different methods out there and I just didnt know which to follow.
RUU, ok I will look that up, thanks.
Also I installed Rom Manager (when looking for update to clockworkmod) and it has apparently flashed my recovery to the newest mod. So I will try it again.
EDIT: it hasnt worked, when I restarted my phone in recovery but it's still the old version...
I'm not sure what you mean by erase size?
Thanks again.
The erase size lets us know which hardwarerevision your desire has. It's important to know it because with the erasesize 40000 (aka PVT4 desire) you cannot use the cwm recovery which is usually flashed with unrevoked. To find out your erasesize, download a terminal emulator from android market, start it and then enter
Code:
cat /proc/mtd
ok I checked it and it shows erasesize as all being 00020000
Ok erase size is not the issue then.
I know I have this issue when there is a problem with my zip. Not always getting "Installation aborted, (bad)" error message.
Might be worth checking the file system of the SD card (maybe download h2testw.exe for windows to test it for errors)
Personally I'd just flash a better recovery and try again.
there's a guide on how to do so on my troubleshooting guide if you need help. Just look in the "repairing recovery" section. (Note: since you are fairly new to this, I'm betting on that your phone is S-ON, for you to be able to flash recovery, you need to be S-OFF, however there is also a guide on that, even with a video ^_^)
Thanks for your help
I checked and yes, I am s-on, but I read a few guides and really it's all too complicated for me.
The only reason why I needed a custom rom was because my phone was purchased in China and had chinese market content only and it wouldnt let me install Skype.
Now I'd be happy with a stock WWE rom that I can update automatically via android auto updates...
I think running the stock RUU will do this? I'm going to try it now.
Thanks again, but I might be back because I'm so unskilled at these things
Use android flasher, its easy to flash different recoveries, hboots, radios and boot animations. Almost cheating
HTC Desire
I lov using my phone explorer app, Everything works great except I used to be able to control my phone using my PC keyboard n mouse in the phone view.
I've upgraded my my phone to CM7 and it give an option to select My phone explorer as an external keyboard.
I cant get it working without selecting the option of external text in the appropriate input on my phone which sort of defeats the whole remote angle.
Can anyone help please ....
Bootloop solved
I read this thread trying to figure out why my phone (marvelc A510c virgin mobile) went into bootoop after trying to installing simonsense3.5 rom, and thought I'd share my success story. This is actually my first post. I want to hopefully save someone like me HOURS of heartache over a stupid solution.
Background (roughly):
Unlocked bootloader via htcdev, worked great.
Used Simonsimon34's htc utility and it worked okay. I still had to use the htc supertool to get root.
Got cwm 5.0.2.8 installed and made a backup rom
Downloaded simonsense3.5 rom and attempted to flash it, but phone hanged in recovery. After that, I was stuck in a bootloop. Could still get into recovery, but cwm would hang ALL the time doing things like wiping and I couldn't get it passed "Opening Update Package" when flashing new roms. I read forum after forum, reformatted my sd, wiped partitions, got a second sd, tried 3 or 4 roms people swore would work, did it all over again. Nothing! I found a thread that said to back cwm down to 5.0.2.6, but that didn't work. This went on for two days and I was getting desperate.
SOLUTION:
I finally found a thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213229) that posted cwm 4.0.xx (the "previous version" link) and at my wits end flashed that, and wouldn't you know it, success! CWM was the problem the whole freaking time! I used the cwm partition creator to make a fresh 1024b partition on a fresh sd, wiped everything, put the rom on, and installed simonsense3.5 on the first damn try. The rom works okay, but I'm having some bugs... but that is another forum.
Good luck!
Recently, I have been introduced to Android Rooting and I have successfully rooted my phone with Towelroot. My friend installed Cyanogenmod 11 on his Galaxy S3 the other day and I have been having many problems doing the process myself. I have ripped xdadevelopers to pieces trying to find a solution, but nothing has ever been simple enough, well really efficient enough to fix my problem.
I have ROM Manager installed on my device and the latest CWM Recovery and when I get to the "Recovery" mode it does not give me all the options a normal "Recovery" screen would give me. I can not backup my current stock rom because there is no option. In doing this I accidentally wiped my phone and had no way to recover, so I lost a lot of temporary things, very frustrating.
Basically what I need to know is how to get CWM Recovery to work on my device, etc. Also I forgot to mention before that FreeGee messes up too. It says something about "loki" or something. I am sick of trying several methods that fail in the end. If you can tell me how to get CWM Recovery to work on my phone. I do have an SD Card and my phone is rooted. Please help me! I apologize if all the information is not present, but if you need to know anything specific I would be more than happy to answer your question!

Have you tried installing the recovery from G.Pro Recovery first? Freegee will not work for me, giving me similar errors, until I first do that. See the to the Bountyman G3 v4.x thread under 'Optimus G Pro Android Development' for more info. Works for me every time (though I choose TWRP; friggin' *hate* CWM).
