[Q] Updated a rooted HTC desire OTA. - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
i'm having a problem with my htc desire that i cannot resolve.
Yesterday an update came to my (Rooted ) Desire and messed everything up!
My clockwork mod recovery is gone, and it's now the stock's recovery.
When i turn the phone on, it gets stuck at the HTC logo...
I tried to Flash another Rom, but the stock recovery won't let me, it gives me
the message ("Signature verification failed")
I tried all of the RUU updates (That should be compatible )using fast-boot, But it
says that i need to get the right Update utility or something.
Anyone know of any other methods that helps me to flash clockwork mod, or another rom Without booting up(Being inside the OS).

Have a search of this forum.
There's many threads about the problem you're having.
BTW you shouldn't really be applying any OTA updates to a rooted rom.

OK, Sorry i should've searched first.
I appreciate your help, Thanks.

[Q] Update Stock Rooted

I've been searching arround but can't find a solution for my issue; i have a rooted desire, with a stock rom with a modified kernel (for the battery fix); i got an OTA but i can't seem to apply it. I've even toggle dthe signature (and the other thing you can toggle, can't rememebr what its called!) through recovery but even then the installation gets aborted.
How can i apply the OTA? i don't mind loosing root 'cause it's easy enough to do if i want it again.
And i know i can just flash a newer rom but from my experience (winmo), if i start flashing roms, i'll never stop!!!
UPDATE: Ok, now i've messed up; I restored my previously backed up version (old kernel), then rebooted the phone, istalled the update and now it just boots onto htc splash screen then reboots. I can boot into hboot but when i try and go into recovery i get the picture with the phone and a red triangle with an exclamation mark inside!
Help please!!!
****ING NOOBS!!!!
Seriously, read the other threadas about how you CANNOT APPLY AN OTA TO A ROOTED ROM WITHOUT CAUSING ISSUES!!!!
The point is it wasn't a rooted Rom, it was a stock Rom with a stock kernel but a rooted phone.
And seriously man, if you're not going to help just f*** off.

Hey..Stock Kernel+Unrevoked=Rooted Stock Rom..
It wont take in an OTA..
If you need the OTA, you do need to unroot.
Ok then, i obviously messed up.
Now i'm downloading a stock rom and i'm going to flashh the ruu throgh fastboot. Should that work?
Any advice would be really great guys, i just want to get this fixed.
It should..
Ok, i'll try that and report back in case anybody finds this thread helpful in the future!
Update: it worked! I'm out of the woods!!
Note to self (and anybody else who dosn't know): OTA are a big no-no for andt rooted device, no matter what rom or kernel you are running!!

[Q] Can't install ROM update - Help required

Hi all,
I installed the [ROM] [2.10.405.2] Rooted Official HTC Android 2.2 (FroYo) ROM at the start of the year and have been getting told to update my software numerous times since.
I have downloaded the rom update to my sd card, gone into the boot menu by holding the power and back buttons, turned of verification, installed the rom from my sd card then installed it. When it restarts, the phone then gets caught in a boot loop and I have to reinstall the original rom.
Please can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've never done anything like this previous to installing the original rom.
Thanks in advance.
NEVER EVER apply an update to a rooted phone. This has been covered in numerous threads in the past
Thanks for letting me know. I wasn't aware. So I should download the roms from here?
If you wanna update but stay custom then yes go for a newer custom ROM

[Q] Problems after OTA update to 2.3.5 with Sns 3.0 - Red Triangle + Exclamation mark

Hello folks, i have a rather enormous problem after applying the latest OTA update containing android 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0 to my Desire HD.
I know i have rooted my phone at some point to install Titanium Backup, but i haven't installed any custom roms. Then, i applied the OTA update. Kind of stupid, i had to realize now.
So, after the update last night, my phone won't start anymore. It gets stuck during the boot-up process and only shows a "refresh"-type sign consisting of three green arrows for about three seconds. Afterwards i get the red triangle with exclamation mark. I tried resetting it to factory defaults multiple times. During that i get some errors "can't open data/cwpkg.zip" and "cw.prop". Also, i permanently get a "can't open E:/ cache/recovery/command" error.
Finally, i found this thread and installed the Rom and the Radio according to the instructions provided in this thread. It seems to work fine (i don't get any errors during or after flashing), but after the next reboot i am presented the same error.
Does anybody have any ideas how to fix this? Or have i just bricked my phone permanently? Really, any advice would be helpful. I just would like to be able to convert my phone from an expensive paperweight to a working handset again!
Thank you!
Better try RUU....I had the same problem ..rooted fone, ota update and then ' white triangle-error sign-single robot ' thingy....when did the ruu It's working fine..but u get ur data lost...

i already tried the RUU (RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.50.405.2_Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_release_199042_signed), and it looks promising but then it just stops at 35% and shows no more progress at all.
You can't apply OTA updates if you have S-OFF.
But you can download and flash this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382235
Rooted completely stock Android RUU 2.3.5 sence 3.0 with superuser and busybox.

[Q] Help with update HTC One X from 1.28 to 1.29

Hi,
I've got an unbranded HTC One X with Root, CWM, Faux123 Kernel, Unlocked Bootloader. I'm on 1.28 Stock ROM and I'd like to update to 1.29.
I have tried removing root, flashing stock recovery, flashing stock kernel and updating via the OTA software update, but when it reboots into stock recovery, the loading goes to about one third, gets stuck and the icon in the middle becomes a phone with a red triangle.
I am asking on this forum as I know everyone on here (except me) is amazing!
What should I do? I don't want to erase all my data unless I absolutely have to or it is guaranteed to work.
Thanks a bunch,
ORStoner

Yeah, there have been several posts about this, even i had a problem with the 1.29.So far there is no actual solution and nobody knows for sure what is the problem. It has been sayd that has something to do with the CID because our phones are unlocked.
I've tryed everything and it didn't work, but all of the sudden, last night i was trying to install some mods, and one of them i didn't read the instructions and wasn't made for my stock 1.28 so the only solution i had was to do a nandroid backup. The only backup that i had in my phone was a 1.28 backup (loogicaly) but it was an old backup without the SU installed,it was basicaly a backup of the clean, stock 1.28 so i had to do that one.Atfer i done the backup the phone asked me again if i want to update...so i selected yes again.I don't know why but after doing this it worked like a charm, the new 1.29.401.11 was installed, after that i've reflashed CWM and SuperSU and now is working perfectly.
I think that the update stops because of a mod that you have on you'r phone or something.Did you installed any mod to it,like...3 dot removal for example? If yes, install the reverse (or do a nandroid backup if you have one) and basicaly it should work after that.
Thanks for your response.
Yeah, I did install that mod but I reverted it when I tried to update.
I also only have a nandroid for after I did everything

HTC bootloop after TWRP stock flash

Hi all,
I'm wanting to send my phone back to HTC as I am experiencing the same issues as https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/random-shut-boot-loops-t3690547
I wanted to get as back-to-stock as possible before I did so, to limit any chances of additional charges.
I tried to flash the TWRP backup from the Stock HTC 10 thread by topjohnwu (the latest one). I'm now stuck in a bootloop - I see the white HTC logo, and then it reboots.
Anyone help? I'm annoyed as I had a working phone not long before this I've tried RUUs but the all fail with an invalid header, the exes don't work etc (fail after sending).
I just am not sure what to flash. I can access TWRP and bootloader etc. Just no system.
Also, if anyone has a thread that discusses which part of the system does what, for someone looking to gain a better understanding, that would be great. I really like the HTC 10 and, when working, have no problems with it, and I wouldn't mind keeping it for longer than i usually would a phone.
Thanks in advance
SOLVED - fixed by flashing a deodexed ROM zip found on here
