Hi there..
I am having a bit of trouble with messaging.. I don't know what happened to it as now every message that I send shows up before the last message received instead of being displayed after it in the threaded view.. Also the time automatically changes of the last message received in my phone instead of the original one being displayed..
Thanks!!
Are you using stock messenger or a third party app?
I am using stock messenger..

its a bug, not sure whether its Sense or Android.
download an app from the market "SMS Time Fixer", and set it to show the received message a short while ago. meaning: go to the app-> under Offset MINUTES,set it to -2 or -3, depending on how much the difference in time you usually see in your received messages.
hope this helps.
seems there's no other work around.
The difference I get is approximately an hour..

This was happening to me with the stock rom. I gave up and switched roms.

Hey guys,
For those that are using GTalk regularly, do you have this issue same as me:?
-When I didn't use for quite sometime as in didn't open the GTalk application for sometime, and when I open, it will show connecting and when connected, then I will receive msges from my contacts, which means the msges got delayed. My phone reception is good, no dropping of connection or whatsoever.
Any ideas to this?
Yep. I've had the same issue for a while, no resolve.

I see. Anyone having the same problem?
The only issue with Gtalk I had was when I installed Skype. Had to uninstall Skype to get Gtalk to work. Tried it two times just to make sure. It definitely was Skype fault.

Update. It wasn't Skype fault. Noticed today, as soon as low memory warning comes up Gtalk stops working. Not going to call HTC over that as my phone is going in for MB change anyway.

Hey guys, have you encountered your sms got wiped out? I uninstall launcherpro and suddenly handcent got force closed and then the next moment I know is my sms got wiped out already.
Any ideas about this?

Same happened to me on stock v2.2. This seems to be a common Android issue and likely related to the amount of SMS messages you had. Mine were 2500+ after importing from my old phone.
Google this for more info: android Issue 5669
That's weird! My sms is definitely less than 500 to start with it. Any other ideas? Common android issue? Don't have the issue previously with htc desire.

I know its not helpful now, but check out SMS Backup + on the market. It backs up your SMS, MMS & Call logs to your GMail. And best of all, its free.
Latest DHD OTA update seems to improve SMS stability. The messages app crashed but did not lose the messages with the update this time.

Hi Guys,
Today the messaging app on my HTC Desire HD would not start (force closing all the time). My provider (Orange) got me to take out the battery to reboot, which did get it working again - the downside was that all the messages were gone.
Now I had about 1400+ messages, which luckily I'd backed up to an xml file, Orange reckon it's the volume of messages that's causing the problem as they're stored on the SIM card - does anyone know of an app that will move them to the SDcard, the phone does not provide that option as far as I can see.
I really don't want to lose the messages and it was fine on my HTC Hero.

Grabbit

It's an issue with all Android phones and Google have not fixed it for a year.

I have a friend who's DInc will randomly delete all of her SMS threads when she gets a new message. When she goes to the app after getting the notification all of her threads will be gone, including the one she just got the message in. This has happened to her 3 or 4 times now. I've recommended a couple of SMS backup apps to her, just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and if so, how did you fix it? And if you could recommend SMS backup apps which would they be and why?
Whenever my dinc starts to act up I reboot. Other than that I use the sms that comes with the Rom I'm on. Good luck. I

It's a known Android issue (#5669, to be precise) and it isn't partial to Incredibles or even HTC. I have never experienced it in more than a year but it happens on my daughter's Incredible about once a week.
Use an SMS backup app, and save important stuff externally to the MMS apo.

Yeah this issue has been up for a while, but hasn't been given much attention at all.
It's happened to me at least 4 times, but i started using SMS Backup+ which is perfect.
PLEASE HELP! My messages app is working soo slowly! when I open a conversation, it says 'Loading' and after about 5 mins, the conversation opens up. It's so slow! Why? Is it because I have all the messages stored in my phone memory? or is it something else? How to make it fast?
yeah same problem here. Weird. Thinking its all the past messages. Guess you have to delete the conversation every once and awhile. Oh well.

Hi, I have the same problems . Your phone is repaired. Replacing the motherboard. After 10 days the problem is back. Yesterday I made a factory reset, 2 minutes today I opened SMS. I reported this problem HTC and they know nothing about.
Sorry for bad English.
Go to app info of messages, from there select clear data. It will probably solve the problem....or do a factory reset..

After much frustration with the slowness of the message app, I tried this and it worked very well so far:
From within message app, select Menu...Settings...General... and uncheck the first three (all three) options under "Recipient list settings."
I guess that limits your search options from within the app. For me I probably don't use that function anyway, and even if I did I would trade it for a quicker app. To me, text messaging is worthless if it is not quick, otherwise I would just call or email.
