Hi all, these are the last tweaks that are not automated on my Tilt 2 when I flash a new ROM. Does anyone know where the setting is to change these? I have a provision XML for Gmail but I don't think those two settings can be changed through the provision file can they?
I suspect these may be buried in a data file somewhere and unaccessible, but I thought I would ask. Thanks!
1. "Attempts before giving up" -- Go into Text Messages/All Messages/Menu/MMS Options, set "attempts before giving up" to 4
2. "Send/Receive when I click send" - Setup GMail - Go to Inbox, Menu/Tools/Options/click *Gmail, Click Send/Receive Schedule, click Advanced Settings, Yes, Turn off "Send/Receive when I click send".
3. "Save attachments to storage card" - In the Gmail Inbox, go to Menu/Tools/Options, click Storage, and select to "Save attachments to storage card".
4. "Show Next Message" - In the Gmail inbox, click Message at top, click "Show Next Message", and turn off "Display Account Picker".
5. Location Service enabled - On the Settings Tab, click Location, turn on Location service.

I did a search for the following criteria "download FULL messages", and nothing was returned that satisfied my question.
I have looked everywhere on the tmo-dash and cannot see a way to download Full email messages. For me, its a bother to read a few sentences and then request download of the rest of the message for every single message I receive. Generally, my individual emails are not more that a few hundred kb's anyway. Also, there is no way to view msg size in the email display. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any and all replies.
Directions
For WM 6:
from messaging, highlight the account.
then:
Menu>settings>Next (until you get to the message format page)> choose "entire message" from the second option which is "message Download limit"

Thanks for your reply. I am using my corporate Exchange server 2003, and when I click MENU the settings option is greyed out.??
I do not use an exchange server, so I do not have any experience with that. For other types of accounts (imap and pop), you cannot access the settings while you are send/receiving. I suppose that if there is a way to stop the account from updating, you could change it that way (maybe?)
its an option in activestink. tools.options. select the email under the exchange account, press settings. its obvious from there...

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, the Vista WMDC looks like this. I do not even have the opportunity to select and/or highlight the exchange email in order to change the settings.

Whooohoooo....THANKS!!! :0
I have installed the ShadoW_2.0 TE ROM, and went to set up my Gmail email via IMAP. However, Windows 6.1 doesn't seem to want to allow me to set this account up manually, just via automatic config. Unfortunately, the auto config for Gmail sets the account up as POP3, not IMAP...
Am I missing some secret switch here to tell WM6.1 Messaging not to use auto-config settings? The onboard Help file says that you can turn off auto-config, but I can't seem to find that setting...?
from the gmail setting page......
To configure IMAP for your Windows Mobile 6 device, just follow these steps:
1. Enable IMAP in your Gmail account settings.
2. Open the Start menu and select Programs > Messaging > New E-mail Account.
3. Enter your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com') in the E-mail Address field.
4. Uncheck the box to get settings automatically from the Internet and select Next.
5. Select Internet e-mail as your email provider in the drop-down menu.
6. Enter your name as you want it to appear in sent emails.
7. Enter a descriptive name for the email account and select Next.
8. Enter 'imap.gmail.com' in the Incoming Mail Server field.
9. Select IMAP4 as the Account type from the drop-down menu and select Next.
10. Enter your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com') and password.
11. Select Next.
12. Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' in the Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server field.
13. Make sure that the Outgoing server requires authentication box is checked.
14. Select the Advanced Server Settings link.
15. Make sure that the Require SSL box is checked for both incoming and outgoing emails.
16. Select The Internet as the network connection from the drop-down menu.
17. Select Done and then Next.
18. Select how often you want your phone to send/receive emails from the drop-down menu.
19. For more download options, select the Review all download settings link.
20. Select Finish.
Thanks, but...
You're right, and quite quick. However, on the ROM that I'm running (don't know if this is a WM6.1 or ROM-specific issue), I don't have the checkbox for step 4.
4. Uncheck the box to get settings automatically from the Internet and select Next.
Help?
I found a workaround, albeit a bit sloppy. If you provide a non .com ending it will ask you if you want to check for settings (ie [email protected]). You then have to go back and change the settings when the account is setup.
Like I said, sloppy.
I am running Shadow 2.0 and using Gmail with no problems...maybe you need a hard reset!

Sloppy, yes, but it worked. Once I put in the different TLD at the end, I did see the option to auto-config or not. When I got past that, the rest of the Gmail IMAP config worked fine. Thanks for the help!

I am sorry, probably this is not the right place for this post, but i was curious about this thread. I always access my gmail through pop3, so what are the main differences and advantages of choosing IMAP?
Thanks in advance
Hello all, tried to find out how but I could not get my Outlook account that is sync'd through gmail off my phone b/c I would like to try that Seven app. Does anyone know how I can remove it? Thanks
If it's setup through Activesync open it from the start menu and go to Menu --> Options and deselect E-mail.

I think you have to delete it, not deselect it.
In ActiveSync's options, highlight the account you want to remove and hit the delete button near the bottom.

Aah, yep, that would delete the whole account (just saw the option, wasn't aware of it before) and deselecting would remove the e-mail messages but maintain the sync/setup.
Perfect, thanks a lot guys!
how do you change the email notification tone??? its driving me cazy and i cant seem to figure out how or where...
Do this...
Click on the menu button while in Gmail (this is for Gmail, I don't use the included email service)
Go to Settings
If using more than one Email account select the account you want to make changes to
Scroll to the bottom of the settings list
Select "labels to notify"
Select inbox or priority inbox whichever you use (you can set up each to have different notifications)
A popup box will appear
Place a check on the email notifications if it isn't already checked
Select ringtones
Choose whatever ringtone you may want and hit ok
on the popup select ok
you have now set your gmail to whatever ringtone you may want
If you have any problems let me know.
Thank you very much that worked!

Your welcome, and I'm glad that it worked for you
On Gmail using a laptop, clicking on your email address on the right side shows a dropdown menu with Add Account and Sign Off
When you click Add Account you can sign on up 10 different gmail addresses at the same time
How is that done on Android 4.4 using our SG Note tablet as the menu does not appear to have this readily available
Under settings then general click accounts then click add account . Select google there then add through the prompts.

Under General I do not see anything called Accounts
I see Archive settings, slide settings for removal of messages, picture, reply all settings, automatic size settings, automatic movement settings
Also Confirmation settings 3 items are listed

You are in Gmail settings, you need to go into the settings of the tablet.
