Has anyone else had issues using WiFi calling after applying the OTS 2.2.1 update?
Trying to make a WiFi call seems to be utilizing almost all of the phone's resources and making it hang for a long period of time. Ending the call takes forever, and neither the called party nor the calling party can hear each other at all.
This is acting up regardless of which WiFi network I'm connected to, etc.
I'm downgrading to 2.1 again to see if it still works, but wondered if anyone else ran into this issue.
Thanks
d3po
Actually, my wifi calling is much improved since 2.2.1. I have not done a factory reset since the upgrade, maybe you have?
I figured out that the root of the issue seems to be either Milestone OC or SetCPU. I uninstalled them and it's been fine.
I'll see which one is the culprit and post again.
Did you ever figure which was at fault as my wifi calling has degraded.
Thanks
My wifi calling has always been poor. There's a consistent 3-4 second lag in voice. Makes taking important calls very difficult. No 3G in my town, and I barely have 1 bar in my house, so I gotta use wifi.
I was having issues with my 3G cutting out randomly. I would be in a known coverage area, and in the middle of a speed test, wifi tether, or any other app requiring internet, the 3G would just stop working. The 3G icon would blink as if it was trying to reconnect, but wouldn't. I would either have to restart the device or cycle the mobile internet on and off. I would also get error code 67 and 104 randomly as well. Today, I updated my Radio to 2.15.00.05.02, but haven't really had the chance to see if it's functioning correctly. Any advice? I'm a bit of a noob, so keep it simple for me.
Sitting at home with the EVO on 3G and just got error 104 again. Running...
ANDROID 2.2
PRI 1.90_003
PRL 60672
Just updated to ANDROID 2.3 and the latest RADIO combo pack and I'm still having the issue. During SpeedTest, the 3G stops responding randomly. Sometimes it picks back up again, but most of the time, it will stop responding altogether. Settings issue? Any help would be great.
A Tower is down on Sprint (sub-Boost Mobile).
That is what's causing your in and out fades.
Should be updated by end of the week.
Boost Mobile (EVO)
Android 2.2
2.15.00.11.19 (downgraded as I thought it was radio, but will be upgradeing back to Radio 2.15.00.05.02 after Tower is repaired)
Software 3.70.651.1
PRL 61007
same problem here, but with good towers
hey guys I have the samsung epic with the same proble, it works fine and fast on 3g but sometimes it just stop working. the 3g arow keeps sending, and I get the same error codes, so, what can I do to fix this? ah my epic is on boost mobile
So others are having this issue as well. Interesting....anyone got any ideas?

I have the same problem. It has nothing to do with the towers. I am running synergy RC2 and my 3g will drop. I have to then disable the 3g and reinable it for the 3g to work. This will last for 3 minutes to 5 hours. It's very annoying. I have come to the conclusion that it is either software related or the PRL.
Some PRL's have more problems than others. It seems that the boost PRL (I think it is 61007) will be running a speed test and cut out and I get an error saying there has been a network communication error. 60678 seems to work best for me although I have to keep resetting the 3g.
I have the same issue with the Speedtest.net app. It cuts out with a network error. Anyone else got any input???

Having the same issues every hour... any thoughts?
I updated my data profile and it doesn't do it anymore.

i wish i had ur problem -.-, mines it i cant make calls or texts, says my account could not be validated, but my 3g works fine =[
Not sure if this is carrier issue or GNex's issue...
When either wifi or Bluetooth dun tethering, connection is unstable. It would work for couple minutes (maybe 3~5), then lose connection. After couple more minutes, it reconnects again.
Anybody have this issue?

This is a really old thread, but I have the same issue on mine. I'm in Asia using the unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus, so it doesn't look like a carrier issue.
I haven't tested Bluetooth tethering extensively, but WiFi hotspot is crazy unstable. It has become a big issue for me. I connect to the hotspot on my laptop, but it stops working after a few minutes to an hour. I have to restart WiFi on my laptop and try again until I get a stable connection. I can connect to friends' iPhones with no problems, so again, it doesn't seem like a carrier issue.
I've changed both radios and ROMs, but the problem persists regardless. I'm currently on the latest AOKP (4.0.3), but I had the same issue on Android Revolution (4.0.2). Also, the issue seems to be present while tethering both through the built-in hotspot function in Settings and the WiFi Tether for Root app.
This is quite a frustrating problem. Hell, it's such a big issue for me that I'm even considering jumping back to an iPhone. Any insight or alternative hotspot app suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
same issue......always had unstable wifi tether....
Wifi tether has been stable for me on 4.0.2 stock. Bluetooth to my late 2008 MacBookPro is hit or miss though. Sometimes it'll go for hours and others it drop every 5min... regardless of signal quality.

Hey I'm a 1st to T-Mobile i'm testing it out before I switch all my lines from Verizon. The question I have is that both the Note II and the GS3 that I have seem to drop the Wifi calling feature randomly. I thought at 1st it may have been some sort of power saving option but it seems to happen in frequently. (Doesnt matter if I'm close to the Router or not)
Is this common? Or am I the only one that has had this happen?
Thanks for any input!

Mine does the same thing I just turned off the wi fi calling app and it now works fine

I'm not sure what you mean by turning the App off? When turning the WIFI calling app off does that not mean you are unable to use the feature?? LOL- I have to have this as I have zero reception at my home.
Thanks for letting me know!

This is happening to me as well.
@ scoob go to setting, more setting, deselect the wifi calling app and it should work for you my coverage at my place is between 0 and 1 bar so this should help

mine goes on and off on both my new note 2 and my wife's new galaxy s3. really aggravating. worse on my phone, when in wifi calling, it only answered calls like 1 out of every 10 times, otherwise they went to voicemail. I took the sim out of mine, then put it back in and pushed it in and out and in the holder a few times and now it seems to receive calls in wifi mode but still always in and out and error to connect and such.
My experience with Wifi-Calling has been nothing but troublesome. It's really not reliable at all, sometimes calls comes through sometimes don't.. and when it does come through I can hear the caller but caller cannot hear me. This is quite common problem with wifi-calling and i given up.
If you get even a 1bar of reception near by the window, I suggest calling T-Mobile and getting their Cel-Fi device (Free of charge but has to return when you leave T-Mobile). 1~2 bar by the window will give you full 4bar reception throughout the house on 4G. Only requirement is that you must be living in single house, can't ship out to house that are connected by or close by. I live in townhouse and I just told them I live in single house and got the device in 3 days. =)
Wi-Fi calling is a disaster. For me, incoming audio drops constantly, but the party I am calling can hear me fine. On other occasions, the call will just randomly drop. Came from a Sensation where Wi-Fi calling was perfect. There does not seem to be any resolution... I have spent hours talking to tech support and they have replaced the device with no improvement. I have also had my ISP out and they have verified that my connection is fine. I have even changed the router out... same issues.
With my wifi calling, as soon as I turn kt kn my bars at home would drop where I would hardly get any service. As soon as I turn wifi calling off I magically get bars. So I leave it off and now I get bars pretty much everywhere I go....almost

With wifi calling on, it's suppose to drop signal bars to nothing. You have to go by the wifi bars instead.
Wifi also greatly depends on your network conditions. Cause I have the same problem but it doesnt happen to me that often after some tweaking.
Wifi Issue
I have that problem quite a bit but the signal strength on my router is good. Yesterday i had my internet company reset the cable modem and my wifi problems have decreased a lot but it is still happing. It has to deal with the wifi certificate problems on the Note 2 (Samsung). It is the same problem that I had on the GS3.
Oh well

Uhh, that's the point of wifi calling, to make calls over WiFi and disable your cellular radio. If you turn on Wifi Calling, you should get a blue phone icon on the top left and your "bars" should drop to nothing as your phone turns off the cellular radio. You can still make/recieve calls/sms/mms.
I've been getting an ER01 error lately with invalid certificate, but it seems to be a T-Mobile backend problem? It happens, about 10% of the time and only on my school's network (I have a feeling, it might have to do with the sign in process there).Otherwise, it works well at my apartment.

i get that certificate problem at my house, not too much anymore, but I still see it. and the wifi calling does drop in and out at various times. not a huge deal for me, but the average person wouldn't deal with that.

I've been noticing more & more problems with my service in the last two months. I called T-Mobile to fix it and whatever they did seemed to only help a little. I get times where I get frequent ER01 errors with WiFi & duplicated text messages (same text message gets received by my phone 2-3 times) for an hour or two. I used to also get errors sending texts around that time, but that appears to have gotten better.
Someone else mentioned Uverse, and my WiFi calling problems are at home & work, both of which have AT&T for internet... When I switched from their DSL to Uverse I expected less problems, but got more.

Seems to be a problem that a lot of people are experiencing. Just did a quick Google search and some indication points to a possible T-Mobile back-end problem. I wonder if i call up T-Mobile and ask for wifi calling to be explicitly added to my plan if that'll change anything.
I updated to the 1.53 and then to the 1.80 firmware recently and have noticed that when I leave the house every AM; I cannot connect to T-Mobile (US). Often I must reboot the phone with wifi off or far away from a known signal to properly reconnect w/T-Mobile...I have a signal all the time, just not on their network.
Currently I am using a rooted stock 1.80 based rom and its daily now...anyone else out there experiencing this? Its almost like its the 1.80 firmware itself perhaps?
That happened to be a few times like two weeks ago, but not recently

Same exact problem as you. Only difference is I am not rooted.
Same issue here. Rooted stock 1.80.617 RUU.
I had issues with this yesterday and it turned out to be the wi-fi calling setting

Same issue here. On wifi at home and every morning I leave for work, when wifi disconnects I do not have LTE unless I turn airplane mode on and then off, then I would get LTE back. So as someone mentioned, this is fixed by turning wifi calling off? That's annoying. Not rooted, all stock here.
Same issue here, I've tried changing the wi-fi calling settings but no luck. (I have the T-Mobile HTC 10 and running US unlocked non rooted)

Thought I would let you guys know the 1.81 T-Mobile firmware doesn't have this problem. Even with wifi calling and VoLTE on.
Not sure i have had this issue ever. Tmobile phone running us unlocked.
Works on stk and supported cust roms, I etc..

I've got the same problem. Thought it was a hardware problem so got a different phone...same issue. I like the wifi calling feature, would hate to have to shut it off.
Some people mentioned that if you turn off wifi calling this would fix; I am still having the same problem. Also, sometimes just on wifi is like something messes up and I can't send texts and stuff. I've had people told me that they call me and my phone is like off or something, but it really is not. A simple airplane mode on/off fixes the problem, but this is getting really annoying considering the fact I'm not messing with the phone yet as I am all stock on latest firmware. I might have to flash something soon...

Hi guys,
What was your phone doing(e.g. Idle? Making a call? Playing games?) before you left Wi-Fi area and after you left Wi-Fi area?
It was idle in my case. Since the T-Mobile 1.80 RUU has been release moved on to it...no issues at all. Picked up a OnePlus 3 and mothballed the HTC 10 until CM 13 is under control for it.
I re-flashed the HTC 1.80.617.1 ruu hoping that maybe something had been corrupt during the update but it didn't seem to help the issue for me.
I'm on leedroid now and same issue... Maybe someone knows what's up.
Have this issue as well, on US unlocked running T-Mobile .

No mobile data at all
Same issue here. Leaving work, and disconnecting from Wi-Fi, I haves no cell service. Usually rebooting my phone corrects it.
I'm also having this problem. Seems like once a day my phone says it's connected to T-Mobile but I won't be able to receive or send texts and I'll consistently miss calls that go straight to voicemail for the caller. I'm on latest firmware stock and unrooted.
