I'm trying to buy an app in the market, and having my Sprint Account billed, and I keep getting a server error. I looked this problem up, but all of the solutions seemed to only be for someone utilizing a credit card, and I want to just have the cost billed to my account. Any ideas?
Thanks
You may have to give sprint a call to have it authorized. I heard someone mention having to give them a buzz because of that issue.
Hmm, I'll give it a shot. But now I can't even see the option to Bill my Account. I'm really confused. Is my market not updated completely? I'm using CM7...

Hello all.
A few weeks ago, my HTC mail app started acting up telling me "Login failed" anytime I tried refreshing the app to check my emails from both my Yahoo & Gmail account I have set up on it. I called Sprint, and after a ##3282# mission with them, they were able to get it to work.
However, yesterday it started doing it again. This time, I tried the #3282# technique myself to no avail. I tried clearing the data from the app, but when I try to enter my user name/password, it tells me the info is incorrect. I know it isn't, because I can login on any computer, and even the Yahoo app works. However, I like using the HTC app for my emails and I want to get that one working again.
Sprint is now telling me they don't know what is going on, and want to:
a) Do a complete factory reset to my phone, or
b) Take it in to a Sprint store for service.
Does anyone have any ideas of something I can try before giving in to them?
I have the direct number to Sprint Tech Support, and they have me on hold researching the issue now. However, I don't think they are going to come back with anything helpful. I think I just got lucky with a good tech the first time I called and am now dealing with far less tech-savvy people.
Hey everyone I wanted to see if I'm in the wrong or if this has happened to anyone else.
I purchased Rom Toolbox Pro from Jrummy in January, I used it for everything just about and I was always able to download it easily. About a week ago I flashed a new Rom and when I went install Rom Toolbox Pro, it didn't show purchased. I had had this problem before all i needed to do was force close the play store and i would reopen and it would show all my purchased apps, but this time it didn't work so i cleared cache on the play store, and it still didn't work. So i decided to call Google/have them call me. The woman who called was very helpful and understood that i had a rooted device and she tried to help me out as much as she could. We saw that the app was previously purchased in January, but even on the website it no longer shows purchased. She forwarded the issue onto the "specialists" and said they would contact me back within 48 hours. After about 3 days I had Google call me back just so I could checkup on the issue, when I asked for a manager they tried to transfer me, but the phone hung up. When I called again I was really fed up, a woman answered and I was a bit snippy with her, but then the manager walked over and said he was supposed to talk to me, so they transferred the call. The manager was very nice and very helpful, he said he would put his name on the issue which would put it at the front of the queue. Later that day I receive an email asking if I can see that the app is purchased on the website, I replied saying no. They said they could refund me the app, but the problem is, I no longer have the card the application was purchased on. They said I should contact Jrummy and have some input from him. I already contacted before I even called Google, and he said he can only refund and the issue seems to be on Google's side. So I tell the specialist this, and then they begin to blame my device saying that it being rooted would cause the application to be incompatible. I bluntly told the specialist that having a rooted or custom ROM can make an application be incompatible, but that is not my issue, the issue is their database. I then asked for a manager to contact me. Thee specialist replied saying "I understand your point, however I would not advise something I haven't seen proof of." WTF? and "Other users who have had rooted devices, experienced this issue, once they un-rooted, they were able to access their paid apps" so have any of you "experienced this issue"? He made no point prior that this issue was somewhat resolvable and acted as if the only way to retrieve the app was to unroot or refund, but when I ask for a manager "I was willing to make an exception and refund for the app, however you do not have the credit card used to make the purchase. Other users have experienced this issue, most are not rooted. We are currently looking into the issue. I can not guarantee that when it is resolved you will have access to the app, however if you would like to be patient and wait, I can notify you when the issue is resolved."You were willing to make an exception? LOL He also said if I would like to speak with his manager to reply to the email, so before I did that I wanted to ask your opinions.
TL;DR
>Purchased app in January
>No longer shows purchased
>Called Google
>Never contacted me back
>Called back
>Contacted me back
>They insist its my rooted phone and incompatibility issues(not true because app shows up, just says not purchased)
>Ask for manager
>What's your opinion?
Reboot the phone. Clear cache. It worked for me.

Oh and don't forget to clear app data too. Then just login again.

Well I already did this basically, but it's not my phone, because on the website it shows that its not purchased even.
Well when this happened to me I had to wipe app data, cache, and reboot. If you are on a custom rom then perhaps try rrflashing gapps. Or maybe all of it.

I'm having the same problem with them. It's a known problem they say

If its showing as not purchased on the website, then it sounds like a problem with Googles Servers, not your phone. I would keep contacting them about it, tell them when you login to your account on a computer it doesn't show as purchased.
Menu /settings /apps/ all. /Google play /Clear data. Now Open back up market login again. And should show you purchased apps that wht I do when I come across that issue

Why not email google your receipt? Google sends me a receipt for everything that I purchase. And it's in Gmail....so I have everything that's ever been sent to me.

They know this, but refuse to believe it's them. They're not really helping themselves out much.
Till now I have just downloaded free apps on the Android Market. I have been trying to download some of the .99 cent apps the past few days and I just keep getting errors. I think the one was due to no credit card on Google Wallet. I have added one and I still get an error. I'm not trying to pay for it with a credit card, but with my Sprint account. I have tried contacting Google for help and the first time all I received was some generic email telling me I had to have a credit card on file. Now I try to contact them however all I can find is for them to call me back. I tried that and the call was soon dropped.
So now I'm coming here. Does anyone know what the issue is? All I'm trying to do is purchase apps and have my Sprint account billed. I have done this on both my EVO and EVO 3D when I had them with no issue. Also I am on an unrooted phone.
Thanks.

are you trying this on 3g or wifi?

Are you having trouble getting the option to Bill to my account to come up. I too have this trouble(granted my problem could be due to the fact that my account is newer than 90 days). If so did you find a fix or is this something that has changed recently. Thanks.
I'm using version 3.10.10 of the Google Play Store, on a stock unrooted E4GT, and every app I try to purchase won't give me the option of billing to Sprint. A couple of weeks ago the option was there, but now it won't let me choose that.
I've tried contacting Sprint to see if my wife turned the option off or something; she hadn't. Sprint says that some app developers choose not to allow carrier billing, that the choose to be paid via a credit card or Google Play balance. My account is in good standing, and the spending limit is not exceeded, and the account is opted in for Carrier Billing, and I'm using 3G, not wifi, to purchase. I've also cleared the cache and data of Google Play Store, Google Play Services and Google Services Framework apps, but that didn't help.
http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=167794 also says "Your device must be provisioned for use with direct carrier billing." how do I check that it is provisioned to do so?
Is anyone else experiencing issues when billing to Sprint when trying to purchase an app?
Can someone try to select Bill to Sprint on an app and let me know which ones work so that I can see if it's my phone or something else, please?
Hmm...
I've just contacted Sprint again and they still tell me that my account is in good standing, no outstanding charges and not over the spending limit. I even tried using an alternative Google account in case something was wrong with mine, but the option still isn't there. I'm using the stock OTA FI27, and build 3.10.10 of Google Play Store.
Could it be the version of Google Play or maybe FI27 that won't allow Carrier Billing?
I am also having this problem. I have tried on Blue Kuban (FI27) and on FL16. Anyone have Carrier Billing working?
Note, I did try on 3G and had my wifi off.

Sprint: We received your information and will connect you with a Chat Specialist soon.
Dale J.: Let's move this chat and make it a window of its own. It will enable you to view other Web pages while we chat.
Simply click the white Yes button below now.
Dale J.: Thanks for moving the chat window.
Dale J.: Can you please provide more details of the question?
You: I would like to enable Carrier Billing for purchases on the Google Play Store via my Android phone.
Dale J.: Ok
You: I tried once, and it was refunded because the feature was not enabled?
Dale J.: Please let me check this for you
Dale J.: Please allow me a few moments
You: This is the message I got when I tried. "Your order has been cancelled by Google because your carrier billing account was not authorized."
Dale J.: Ok
Dale J.: Please let me check
Dale J.: Few more moments please
Dale J.: Thanks for your patience
Dale J.: I have checked the account details and there is no such issue with the account , it seems to be a temporary technical error , I would request you to please try to purchase it again and please let me know if you are facing any issue. I will be online with you
You: One other problem I was having. On my 2nd line, I had the option to purchase via carrier billing. On my first line I did not. After I tried one time on my 2nd line. The option disappeared.
Dale J.: Ok
You: Now I do not have the option to purchase via carrier billing on either line via the Google Play store. All I see is Add Credit Card or Redeem code. Where before there was a option to purchase via Carrier Billing (Sprint).
Dale J.: Please let me check this for you
Dale J.: It seems to be a technical issue with the online account that is why you are not getting the option. I will transfer you to a Technical Support chat specialist.
Please allow me a few moments
You: Here is another error I got. But the order was not canceled within 7 days, more like 15 seconds after I made the order. "An attempt to charge $0.99 to Sprint USA ********** failed. You must update your payment information within 7 days or your order will be cancelled."
Dale J. has left the chat
You are being transferred, please hold...
Agent Lauren E. enters chat
Lauren E.: Thank you for contacting Sprint. I am happy to help you. Please give me a moment to take a look at your account.
You: It must of tried to bill a secondary payment method after carrier billing failed.
Lauren E.: I'm sorry to see you are having this problem. Please allow me a few moments to look into this for you.
You: No problem.
Lauren E.: I am seeing here, that you account does not have the bill to account feature, this actually that Sprint disabled about 6mo-1yr ago. It is not something I have the ability to change for you, I do apologize for the inconvenience. In order to make purchases from the Google Play store, you will need to use an alternate method of payment.
You: So Sprint has disabled Carrier Billing?
Lauren E.: Yes, that is correct.
You: Ok thank you. That is all I needed.
Lauren E.: No problem.

I figured I was being lied too... Still makes me wonder why it is not working for me. What rom are you running?
I remember sprint was ending carrier billing when I had my og epic. But honestly I still have the option as I still use it all the time. How long have you been with Sprint? I've been with them for ten years so maybe they grandfathered us long time customers to keep the option?
Edit: Just did a search and couldn't find anything about them ending carrier billing. I guess it was billing phone purchases to your account that they ended. And my search results suggest Google added carrier billing to google market for Sprint. Guess it's your phone. Maybe you opted out by accident. I know I had to agree to terms and conditions when I first tried using it.

I didn't even know this was an option until I saw this thread. Pretty nifty, but I'll keep charging to my debit card, my Sprint bill is large enough as it is.

I know in my area, I tend to roam alot on Verizon. Maybe that has something to do with it. Anyone able to do carrier billing with wifi on?
I bill Sprint weekly. Only issue I have ran into is Sprint has to check for acct over regular data not wifi so if you're in a location with crappy or spotty data it will give issues. I can't at work even though I'm on wifi but as soon as I'm home where I get service I'm fine. I called them a few weeks back about it not working sometimes.

Also remember only some apps will allow you to charge sprint. Some app devs don't want to wait for the money or just choose not to do it.

I have tried clicking around on several different app's. Even made sure I was connected to a Sprint Tower via Netmonitor. I just can't get the option to bill Sprint.
I forgot I created this thread. I still haven't been getting carrier billing to work. Even apps that previously allowed carrier billing are not allowing it now so the other day I contacted Sprint again via webchat and was told that it's because I haven't been a customer for 3 months, and new customers have to wait three months. So I'm going to try on January 8th and see what happens. What I don't understand is why the option previously showed up when I wasn't allowed.
Temporary Fix

Sorry, just found this thread. Google Play, version 3.10.10, seems to have removed the option to bill carriers. At least that is the case with my version and my carrier (AT&T). If you go to application settings, and clear the cache/data for the play store, and then choose "uninstall updates", it will revert to the version that came on your phone. You'll be able to sign in and bill to your carrier, however, the play store will update itself shortly after. I haven't found a way to prevent the play store from updating itself on these new versions, so this is the only way I know. Sorry it's not a cure and only a temporary fix!

All of a sudden i get verifying account and then "my phone is not eligible" when trying to turn on carrier billing. Anyone who had problems ever resolve this issue? Im not late on any bills, no carrier blocking, reset phone manually, deleted account on google wallet, no roaming, not on wifi, switched to 3g only...... I even logged in on another phone with my account in the play store and it works! I still cant get carrier billing to work!
I got the code and applied it to my account, but when I go to buy something, and select the credit, it keeps saying I have to add credit when buying
