Touch screen has stopped!!!! Help!!! - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

My phone has been going great and giving no issues. Byt the other evening suddenly the toicuh screen stopped being responsive!!! Totally randomly. No drop or spil or anythign like that, no new software or roms recently.
When you open it the keyboard still lights up, and after a hard reset, you can navigate a bit using the keys. But ZERO response from the screen!!!
As i say, this is even with a hard reset!!! I also tried using masking tip to pressure the screen in case somethign was stuck.
Ok it mighty be the digitiser, or a loose connection. Im hoping not.
Has anyone experienced this or similar and is tehre anythign else i can try before i take the plunge and get someone to look at it??? (its out of warranty unfort)

Ouch
Sorry to hear. It happened to me months back. It started with very uncalibrated clicks... making corner clicking impossible to compensate for.
I've recompensated, but that didn't last long - and it eventually degraded to no touch screen. With insurance, I did get a refurbish for my woes.
I flashed Stock ROM and relocked. No luck.
I'd still back up everything.
Reformat SD card.
Reflash stock ROM
Relock the device - all to see if it helps.
I did have a similar recent problem - but in this case it's because I was using a clip on hard case front that must've been putting pressure on the touch screen.
Hopefully one of these helps you out. Good luck

When my screen stopped responding it was due to a more physical thing.
I read this somewhere and tried it, worked instantly!
You have to get your finger nail under the screen (try pushing your nail into the edge of the screen from the side) and lift the screen up a bit.
This worked for me. If you think its a physical and not software issue give it a shot.

I have had the same problem.
I bought new touch screen on ebay (about $15) and after replacement the device works well.

stop everything !!!!!
if you have Google G Mail set up on your phone remove it and it will fix it's self
somthing google / G mail is doing the tilt 2 doesn't like
causing the "Sleep Of Death"

Hi guys
I have tried all the above
Last resort is i got sprite backyup to work
BUT HOW THE HELL DO YOU HIT "NEXT" OR "OK" FROM THE KEYBOARD AS SCREEN DOESNT WORK????

Woohoo! It worked for me too!
Below is one more post on this topic from another forum:

It's actually very simple to fix - slide a finger nail under the plastic by the speaker and gently pry the digitizer up. Then, put it back. You dont need to remove it totally from the phone. It will flex back to its flat shape as soon as the glue releases. As soon as you stick it back down, the touch screen will work again.

Touch screen not working on HTC TP2

So the touchscreen no longer works on my phone. So that pretty much means i can't unlock my phone, which means i can't shut it down, which means it's useless.
During startup, i got the very generic services.exe error, which leads me to believe that since there was an error with the exe, the service used to poll the touchscreen isn't running.
So before you ask:
- I have power cycled the phone several times (still same result of nothing
working)
- Windows Mobile upgraded to Verizon's release of WM 6.5
- I have not installed any new software in over a month
- It has never gotten water on it
- I have hacked the registry, about 6 months ago when i got the phone
- I did mess up one of the registry keys, replaced the key name with a
't' and couldn't remember what it originally was, but the phone hasn't
acted up. Can't remember what the location of key is either, but i
was trying to remove the vibration whenever you touched the
screen. There are two locations for it, and i eventually found the
proper one though.
So if anyone has any ideas short of hard-resetting the phone, please let me know. Is there any sw that can run my phone via the computer?
Thanks
Touch screen not working
I have to got the same issue, ever tryed hard rest.
flashed new rom. still nothing...
Solution
Okay, I've just had this problem with an HTC Touch, and I think this works with any HTC that has a "digitizer" rather than an all-in-one touchscreen (I think newer phones have digitisers).
I'm not sure if this will always work, but I've just done it - sometimes the inactive touch screen is "broken" because the layers are stuck together (so the phone can't tell where the touch is, hence unresponsive). With mine, I looked at the screen side on and could see a kind of "oily" patch in the light.
The solution is to get masking/gaffa tape - the very sticky brown one. Stick it down on the screen/digitizer and then keep pulling it off - this pulls the layers from each other. I kept repeating this lots before it worked - and in the end I pulled the top layer completely off (I think you should pull from the top of the phone, as the layers need to be attached at the bottom of the screen/digitizer). Once it pulled away, I gently lay it back down (after panicking!!) and hey presto it started working again.
Good luck!
I have the same problem, oily stuff migrating from a corner inward....
And you're suggesting we do what now? I'm not following this.....
He suggests you put masking tape onto your screen, to pull the stuck layers apart. If this doesn't work, you can always replace the digitizer.

I've done the same, just to thank you.
had this problem this se xperia x2
Unbelievable...this just worked for me too! I gave up on this phone 6 months ago...now back to flashing ROMS, yeah!
Thanks a lot!
It is now!
Thank You! And I didn't even have the proper tape, just some cheap sellotape...did the trick though!
Thanks again, You Rock Dude!
Very Much Appreciated!
(And a Big Thanks to Andrew for the heads up!)
If I had read this 3 weeks ago i wouldn't have wasted 35$ on a new screen.
It gets worse, the new screen doesn't work. But this 1cent fix DOES.
The new screen was never calibrate-able.

I have exactly the same problem! The touchscreen of my xperia mini is not responding at all!
Can you please be more precise? What do you mean "pull off the layer of the screen?" Do I need to disassemble the phone and mess with the hardware? That sounds pretty scary!!!

I think he had some sort of a screen protector that was interfering with the screen...
You can try to run your fingernail along the edge of the screen - between the bezel and the actual touchscreen. Quite often something stuck in there is causing the touchscreen problem (or there is a deeper hardware issue and the touchscreen is just not functional).

I'm in the same boat. Normally I wouldn't be afraid of a little digitizer replacement. But on the TP2 it looks like every single bolt and screw needs to be replaced and in the only video I could find about it, the guy broke the lcd in the process.
Hoolexer
W0W.... You are awsome,,, Now I can sleep at night. Thank You So Much
salterlee you are a genius. I just had this same problem. I putted some masking tape to the screen, didn't had to pull the front layer out, and it worked wonderfully.
A little suction goes a long way!!

Same thing here.
I used a suction cup from my bathroom mirror that held a razor or something and made sure it was decently moist so once i stuck it to the screen i could slide it up and down the entire surface and worked like a charm..... no tape to throw away.
thanks for the inspiration cause i was gonna make this touch into a throw.

TP2 Screen not responding

Hey Gang!!
My Tilt2 (TP2) was acting sluggish the other day and then the touch screen would not respond to anything.
I did a soft reset ... didn't work or solve it ... so I just went ahead and did a hard reset. Even after doing that I have no response from the screen.
The screen shows up everything .. I can view the time, people calling me but it just won't pick up any touch activity at all.
Has anyone ran into this ? or what would you suggest.
Just need some help !!
Thanks !!
TarkuS
I just got the same problem. Wich rom are you using?
Just what came with it from AT&T ... factory settings back on it now.
6.5 winmo
had never put a different ROM on it.
Your digitizer may be dead and in need of a replacement
I just got done searching something's from google and other people who have had the same problem and tried one thing.
The outer rim where the chrome area is , they said to clean or see if there is crap/crud in between the screen and the chrome area.
I did that and it seems to be working ok right now. Just have to be careful. I used my thumb nail to slide in between that area but you might want to use something thinner to be on the safe side.
Thanks, that worked for me also. bit strange solution but isf it works...
the crud you collected must have been pressing the digitizer down in multiple spots or even just ONE spot which led it to think there was already a "touch" on it.. hence not working when you would touch it else where.....
There's been issue's with cases doing that where they are too tight and the screen is picking up that pressure as a 'press'... it's odd you guys have collected that much stuff to make the screen act funny though... messy pockets for sure!

I'm not believing this..but it worked. Thanks for posting this. I was getting quite desperate!
TP2 screen not responding.
Thank you. Cleaning around chrome area worked, but I lifted the plastic contact a bit, so future users of this method should be careful. The contact lifted above the buttons on the bottom of screen, so I will have to be cautious not to get dirt in further.

touch screen not working help?

hi ya guys,
i was wondering how do i fix my touch that doesn't seem to working.
Story on how it happened:
i was at Vicroads in melbourne waiting for my friend to have his turn at the counter for his business. I was visiting engadget.com on opera it was all working find i even showed me friend on an article and touch worked fine. After i find it running a bit slow i did a reset(by using the stylist to press the rest button on it.) After that restart the touch screen stop working.
Any suggestion on how to fix it?
Thanks,
Quan
do you have a hard case around the phone? I've read before that sometimes the hard case around it will put pressure on the screen thus already registering a "touch" on the device... thus meaning no other touch will register since its not a multi touch device. Although if you pressed your stylus into the reset button odds are if you had a hard case on there you would have had to take it off and it wouldn't have made sense for you to put it back on before you saw it was working again SOOOoooooo I'll guess that isn't an issue.
ALSO I read somewhere in here, not too long ago... 2 weeks maybe.... that some people had gunk (for lack of a better word) built up around the edge of the screen. With the gunk, dirt whatever built up around the edge it was doing the same thing as the cases where it was causing the screen to already register a screen.
I believe they used their finger nail to run it along the edge and get the stuff out... one person used some sort of knife (I shutter at the idea of taking a knife anywhere near my screen haha) and cleaned it out
'
Just a thought... if that isn't the issue then I'm sure someone else will chime in soon.
Could very well just be a hardware glitch, all be it a very random one

[Q] screen stopped responding - bad digitizer?

For the last day or so the touchscreen on my Tilt 2 will not respond. I thought Sense was hanging due to text messages so I deleted all of them this morning. That didn't help and neither did multiple reboots so I finally did a hard reset. Now I am really hosed since I can't get through the initial setup. Sounds like the digitizer may have bit it?
I am not at home to flash an official ROM right now but I will try that tomorrow. Other than that does anyone have any other ideas? I am paying for the warranty and insurance so I think I can get it swapped if I have to. Are they still sending out Rhodiums or do they have another device to send in its place now?
Okay, I just flashed the latest official ROM downloaded from HTC. Screen still isn't working. :-( Guess it's time to contact Asurion.
my tilt2 is also doing this, it stopped working about a week or two ago, then started working a few hours later. lately it will work sporadically and most the time not how it is supposed to. i have simplicity. i also have the insurance and i think mine is still under warranty, will i need to put the original sense back on it b4 i send it back in? also, on another note, sometimes when i plug it in to charge it the orange light doesn't come on indicating it is charging, i have to hold the power button for a few seconds. it started around the same time, are these issues related.
Possible fix
Ok, so I have learned that these screens are pretty sensitive, especially if you put them in your pocket. You can sometimes revive this by sliding your fingernail into the seam along the outer edges of the screen and running it along the seam as if you were trying to peel the front (digitizer) off of the LCD. It somehow releases the stuck screen or something. Mine has been doing this off and on for a while and I've been able to revive it several times with this method, though it's getting too frequent now and I'm thinking of trying to replace the digitizer all together. I'm afraid to make that leap though.

The reason this "fixes" it is there some dust or dirt between the screen & panel. If enough gets in there, the digitizer gets confused and ignores any presses.
If you completely disassemble the screen and thoroughly clean it, I bet it'll be fine - no need to replace anything. However, this is a very tedious and delicate process, so be extremely careful.

[Q] Need help with Note 2 touch screen issue

Hi, I have an issue that has formed after glass replacement on my Note 2. I was extremely careful in trying not to damage anything during the replacement process and I did not use excessive heat either, keeping the screen under 170 degrees F to loosen the cracked screen. The issue is that about half the time the phone touch screen will stop working during normal use and then when I hit the lock button on the right side and then unlock the phone again it will be ok for a while before it acts up again. So far, I have done a soft and hard reset with no luck. I noticed the problem is worse when the 12 small screws in the back of the phone are very tight, I loosened them all a few turns and this helped it act up less. The pen always works. I installed a multi touch testing app and this proves that something is up because it sometimes reads fingers that arent there, generally in the middle of the screen and sometimes this programs just completely flips out and reads fingers everywhere. So at this point Im guessing that maybe the replacement glass is too close to the LCD? It also does seem to be negatively affected if I bend the whole phone slightly, this also sometimes causes the touch screen to flip out of just quit altogether. Any input is extremely appreciated!
Is there supposed to be anything between the glass and the lcd when the glass is replaced? Sorry if thats a dumb question.
