i have installed miui a2sd+ edition... i have created a 512mb ext partition... i still have low storage issue... but i still have a lot of space available on my 512mb partition... (only 100mb is used up) and internal storage i have only 20mb left... why aren't the apps stored fully on the ext partition?
u have to flash the rom after u create ext3 partition
yup already flashed the rom.... still it used 100mb out of 512mb of ext partition but i have only 20mb internal space available.. why aren't all internal memory moved to ext partition?
There is plenty of information about what a2sd+ is and does. Try searching!
If you need more space search fire data2sd.

ok thx... so basically what i am reading is that a2sd+ is mostly like the move to sdcard feature of froyo and gingerbread...? 512nb is way too much if i understand correctly
okie i installed data2ext version of miui!! it's great!! i now have a true 1gb internal storage!!!

whats the difrance betwen A2SDand A2SD+
A2SD - default android; some parts still remain in internal memory after moving
A2SD+ - script; All of the files moved to the EXT partition of your SD Card.
A2SD+ doesn't move everything. I believe it does move more than android A2SD but the most important differences are:
All apps are moved automaticly to ext partition.
Dalvik cache is also moved
Apps on the ext partition will still have widgets enable.
Apps will work when sd is mounted.
And the stuff I forget.

i just partition my sd card with amonra recovery 2.0.1 woth details:
32 mb swap
1024 mb ext2
ext2 upgrade to ext3
so...what does above mean? is it a2sd ready or a2sd+ ready?
You can use both of them. The difference is that a2sd+ also moves dalvik cache to ext partition.
Both of them have nothing to do with froyo apps2sd which moves parts of the apps to fat-partition. When you use a2sd or a2sd+ you shouldn't use the froyo one.
And a swap partition is not recommended

Hi
I have installed the Aces V4 ROM on my HTC Desire (HBOOT CM7/R2) and I have run out of internal storage when installing apps from Market. I didnt experience this problem when using V3 of Aces for the same number of apps installed.
This is what I have done:
1) Wiped everything
2) Formatted SD Card
3) Partitioned SD Card (Swap 0, ext-3 1024 mb), rest FAT32
4) Run Alignment_Cool_2.zip to change ext-3 to ext-4 and then re-align ext-4
5) Flash Aces V4 Rom
6) Flash Gingercakes0.8b_bfs Kernel
7) Installed weather_pack_new
What do i need to do to get 1gb of internal memory? I've read up a bit on data2ext but not sure if that's the right thing to do because I can only a CM7/R2 HBOOT version of the Aces v4 rom.
Many thanks in advance,
Shaximinion.
I dont think you can have a 1GB Internal memory on the HTC Desire. It only has 512mb i swere?
No you can there is stuff on data2ext have a read it partitions part of your SD Card.... but i cant find any clear guides on how to do it with the Aces V4 rom....
Hi all
I have now resolved the Low Internal Memory issue by flashing A2SD.KD after flashing the rom. Takes ages to become stable on first boot but then runs perfectly - and fluidly with Gingercakes v0.8b Kernel

Hellllpppp!!!
I have a desire running CM7.1 and i only have 50 mb of space left. I am 100 percent sure about what i am doing and I was wondering if you know of a simple method to gain more internal memory. I partitioned my sd card already (I think it is ext3) but my phone isn't seeing it as internal memory, which was the whole point of my partitioning it. It is really frustrating because the desire is an excellent phone, its just the storage that lets it down.
Thanks
Mark

the phone won't see the ext partition as internal memory by default, so will remain at 147MB if you're on stock hboot. to use the partition with CM7 i believe you can flash an A2SD script such as darktremor (even afterwards it won't 'increase', the system is fooled into thinking apps are on internal when they are actually on the ext partition).
i found reading this useful
to actually increase the internal memory, you can flash a different partition table (requires S-OFF), or use a data2sd script where the ext partition is actually mounted as part of internal memory
Hi guyz. I am a newbie to this desire community. During last week i tried as many roms as possible. I made a ext 4 partition of about 1GB. When i tried sense based Aurora rom, i noticed 900 mb of internal memory available(guess its counting ext partition as internal memory). When i tried some other roms i noticed 180mb of memory(a2sd). Why is that?
So if i use a2sd and install 40 apps what would be my internel memory? Will it be sufficient? I raised this query because before i try few other roms i should be clear which is the suitable one.
Thanks

I have a 1GB ext4 partition with some 60 apps installed. Usually I have around 4-600MB on ext partition and 70-100MB on internal memory free, depending on the ROM I use. Hope that helps.

The Aurora-ROM used a technology called DATA2SD / DATA2EXT (different names, but they work the same way)
A2SD: All apps you install will be automatically to EXT-partition (internal memory still decreases and is still 150 MB).
A2SD+: Functions plus the moving of dalvik-cache to EXT-partition
DATA2SD / DATA2EXT: The whole internal memory (/data-partition) will be moved to EXT-partition and the size of the EXT-partition is from now on the "new" internal memory.
How much internal memory you have free depends on the apps you install.
Hi,
I've installed the last stable CM7. The weird thing is that with it I only get 148mb of total internal memory. I was using Miui before in which I had more then 400mb of total internal memory.
Does anyone knows what's causing this and a solution to have all the memory available.
Thank you

1. What hboot are you using
2. MIUI had "400mb" internal storage, probably because you're using an sd-ext partition on your sd-card and you flashed the D2EXT version of MIUI

I have installed the revolutionary 0.93.0001 (i think) don't have the phone with me right now.
I thought that but the phone supposedly has 512mb internal storage, and 148mb seems very little memory.
Do a little reading and it will be clear why you are having this less memory where your NAND is capable of 512MB. It seems you are using stock hboot. Do you have any idea of partitioning SD card and ext partition? if yes then download s2e and activate the ext feature.

I have a ext partition on sd-card to install apps, but the problem here is the internal memory. Not all the apps can be installed on sd-card and 100mb of free space is not enough for me to install all the apps that need to be on internal memory, like widgets and so on.

Install S2E (make sure you have ext3 partition)
In the app, move "applications", "dalvik-cache" to sd-ext.
Should be enough, leave Application Data on internal memory homever, as it might have impact on performance.
Move it only if you're running out of space again.

The answer you quoted already provided you with the answer you need to get things working. CyanogenMod does not support Data2EXT out of the box. Download S2E app on the Play Store. Launch the app, check all the boxes and reboot. You should have EXT3 partition for this to work otherwise all the options on this app will b e grayed out.
CM7 doesn't see EXT4 for some reason without doing a little modification.
Ok, thank you all for your answers.
What I get from this is that miui has all of those thing you're talking builted-in. Or is cyanogen that doesn't see all the internal memory of the phone?
As I explained in the OP on cyanogen it only shows 148mb of internal memory and on miui it shows almost 500mb.

yes exactly, miui has this built in.
cyanogen won't 'see' the extra partition, but s2e will use it.
i recommend 'diskusage' app to browse your partitions.
also, don't think it has been mentioned here:
- nandroid backup
- s-off if you haven't already
- change hboot to cm7r2
- restore
lookup guides for this, will repartition your internal memory, so it goes up from 148 to 287MB, further reading on memory stuff here
Yeah, exactly what's just been mentioned. Go to alpharev.nl and download the cm7r2 hboot. Flash it and you will have 245mb free.

I think I'll try Oxygen r2 which give me 332 data memory.
Are the diferences between CM7r2 and Oxygen r2 so big?
CM7 won't fit on Oxygen hboot.

i installed int2extv2+ .
Luckily it successfull installed . i can see internal memory 1gb (my sd ext mounted as internal storage)
but after installing some applications i get notification "phone storage memory full"..
what to do please help.. but internal storage is still 400MB free (sdext)
Thanks

I think u have to activate the script by terminal emulater like how u do a2sd but I never used int2ext.

- Find out what is using your internal memory first. Install something like DiskUsage, enable root and browse your actual /data partition. It should be 147MB total size. It's probably filling up despite the script. This may explain the low memory warning
- How did you partition your sd card? Should be done with 4EXT recovery or gparted only, not clockworkmod or minitool
- Did you install the correct version of the script for your partition? I've only used it once on a different phone / ROM. I used in2ext4+ or something like that, suitable for an ext4 partition, seemed to work
You could repartition to an ext4 partition (slightly faster than ext3), and pick the version of the script which moves apps and dalvik cache to the sd-ext.
Why don't you try Beanstalk RC6 4.4.4 + mounts2sd? You will never have low mem issues.. specially if u move everything to ext4. The thing is you need a good sd card..
