The quickest ROM out there... - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since opinions run rampant around these parts, I figured I'd ask for the hell of it. As for me, when I first made the progression to 2.2, I tried ViperROM but I didn't like some of the 2.2 features, so I switched back to 2.1. Eventually I came back to 2.2 and was running Syndicate ROM (pre Frozen) and was quit happy with it, then something randomly crashed and someone suggested that I try Bonsai instead. I made the switch (Syndicate 3.1 at the time) and it was wildly faster, and since then I've stayed with them up to 4.1. At the moment though, I've got a corrupted system again (due to my own screwing around), so I'm looking to start my phone from scratch and flash something again, so I wanted to see if anyone can suggest anything different...and why I should. Yes, I know I can just go try it myself, but I figured a poll and get the opinion of the collective could persuade me into which direction I should go, and as I said, why I should. I figure others have done the same as me where they went from one ROM to another, so what made you switch and/or stay with the one you're running now.
For me, battery life isn't a huge concern...I gave up on a phone lasting me more than 8hrs of steady use since the Treo days. I want a stupid fast and snappy ROM that has either lots of features or is stripped and easily upgraded to the features I want. I'm a texting and music streaming whore, constantly on messageboards and I want stability and speed within the OS itself, using BT, crashless when using apps like internet, games, etc. I forgot to put Bonsai on the list, but either way...throw your .02 at me.

Midnight zips around, and with the BYOR version has almost nothing on it...
I love that it gives you the option almost to customize every single aspect without adding too much bulk

They both have BOYR, but I had to edit it out to make it fit in the box...I have no idea what BOYR or Journaling does for me though compared to Bonsai that I'm running now.

Frozen is a really fast rom. I went back to stock ec05 for a couple days to bug test an issue I was having then went back to srf 1.1 again and it is the best. I hear their next release is going to be nothing short of AMAZING. EVEN BONSAI WON'T BE ABLE TO TOUCH IT WITHIN 500 YARDS. Well until acs does......... srf is the best

I've used both SFR and Bonsai and I have to say Bonsai, but by a little. Noticeable difference, but not incredible.

I somehow forgot to add it to the list, mostly because I was going off of active threads here and forgot that they've moved to their own website instead. I tried to edit the OP, but it wouldn't let me add Bonsai to the poll that I had created. I'm still running Bonsai (corrupted now) so I'm trying to get a feel if I should try something else and why.
I've never tried SRF as I made the switch to Bonsai right before Frozen came out, so maybe I should reconsider Syndicate again. I still don't completely agree w/ Bonsai's almost pretentious choice to leave a forum that enabled them to even to themselves on the map, but that's for a different thread that has already been created. Also, it seems Tmillar has enlisted the ACS team in an effort to get TV-Out working, and as far as I know, it'll only work on ACS's ROMs.

SFR is the best.

I'm admittedly DEV ignorant about how things work, but I was reading the blog about how Bonsai is being blocked by Sprint's network. Unless I'm completely missing something, I remember Syndicate ROM's mentioning something about taking all the Sprint tracking stuff out of it's custom ROM, so does that mean Bonzai still has the Sprint tracking stuff in it, and is that why they're able to block people from coming to your site via the phone?

No no no. I'm using Bonsai right now. I should have been more specific. I meant on the poll. But it's nice to hear you guys are busy on Bonsai.

For those replying, please vote in the poll as well.
For any Admin that might be reading this, is there a possibility to add Bonsai to the poll since I missed it.
Grassyass.

I just noticed that there are people who clicked more than one ROM, messing up the few results on the poll and the whole point of this thread. All these views, and only a handful of votes.

Don't listen to jbadboy he's always talked a lot of crap about bonsai for some reason. I guess he can do better himself. Lol. He can name it bad boys rom.

They are in the Development section, except for Bonsai, you can find that one in my signature below.

I'm using ACS SFR, with the genocide kernel.
It is quick. But still has some little qwerks that I've just given up on(most all related to the browser).
I would try Bonsai, But I don't want to get on to, and participate on another website/forum for just one dev/rom. I already have enough forums. But I am curious as to what happened to the other dev's; ie viper, nova, etc... and it seems like most the one available are based on acs sfr.

Speed ASC, stability Bonsai and battery life Midnight Rom.

I'm running Syndicate Frozen at the moment, but when I was on Syndicate (pre the current Frozen that is out now) and switched to Bonsai 3.1, Bonsai was far quicker at that time.
I'm getting around 1800's in Quadrant, so maybe after the next Bonsai update comes out, maybe I'll try it again.

Remember the kernel is clocked at 1ghz by default.

Another DI18 or DK28 Thread.

Well here I am, tried out DK28 since late december and ive had it till now... Im seeing that we are pretty much getting nowhere without source, and I am starting to get really, really crappy battery life (6 hours). So I'm browsing XDA and I see a lot of DK28 back to DI18 threads and people saying "Oh I'm back on Syndicate, or Baked Snack, and I'm loving it with a good old source rom and custom kernal" so it got me thinking, the Froyo features... "hmm App2Sd... not a big deal to me, i only install a handfull of apps, Flash 10.1.. well **** i cant even get over 200kbps download so im not going to use flash anytime soon", and thats about it (as far as i know)... So, tonight I downloaded the old DI18 tar.md5 and my old syndicate rom for some good old 1.2 GHZ overclocking... But now I'm thinking, is it worth it to downgrade? I really like my gingerbread theme that I have flashed, and well everything else is custom... but is it worth the downgrade? And what about everything being edify nowadays? What do you guys think?
lol, i go back and forth every day practically. the good thing is all these awesome developers give us so many choices and different things to try out. i usually end up back on a custom kernel for the battery life, but i don't think there is any one right answer. maybe when official Froyo drops, that will be the right answer..... but then of course we'll probably have Gingerbread leaks, lmao.
i had to go back, with the bugs and the battery life.. just wasn't worth it to me. syndicate and dI18 are fine for now, froyo is on its way. IMO Retro is in!
I couldn't go back. I love how snappy my phone is on ext4 and I love froyo. I don't see the bugs that people talk about. Sure every os had bugs but its not bad at all. In the end though its all up to in and what you want.

Yeah, retro is cool! The funny thing is we're only talking 3 months old here, haha.
Well I decided to bit the bullet and I'm back on Syndicate... Now I hope Samsung gets their stuff together and releases their source soon :/

I am so glad I'm not the only one who experienced calling reliability on DK28. Sometimes it will dial (or appear to be dialing) but with no sound. This highly annoying when you're just trying to make a quick phone call.

I think its a bug and you can toggle speakerphone as a workaround.

DK28 to EC05
So, XDA rocks, but I'm stuck.
I've got DK28.
What is "flash" versus using Odin?
Is the Samsung cable REALLY that awful? I have not one computer that is recognizing the phone.
I don't want to lose my data. What are my options?
How can I get to EC05 now? How can I get comfortable "flashing" around without losing my data? What does that mean? I mean all data. Apps on home screens, apps etc.
Thanks! I hope you can point me to the right steps to just get my phone back to normal stock.
REALLY would appreciate a nice set of consolidated definitions.
Thanks!
Its not that hard but you can save all your data using rom manager!
Stop necro'ing threads, people.
Well, at least I learned that "necro" is now a verb. Awesome!

What will Sprint/Samsung do?

Ok, so with the issues that EB13 has, will Sprint just correct the issues and release EB13 again with the fixes or will it be a new update? Maybe just some patches? IDK! Does anyone know how they will go about doing this?
Im pretty sure it will have a different name.

That's a given since the name is indicative of when it was compiled.
Most likely we won't see any kind of fix before the 20th at the earliest, and if it doesn't come before April then it's probably never coming and we will be SOL like the Moment users who were stuck with a ridiculously buggy 2.1 with no support from Samsung/Sprint.
Hmm well good point guys. Would you suggest running EB13 with the patched kernel(s) and/or a custom ROM? I'm looking for something stable and plan on using it for a while...

Theyll just take Frozen or Bonsai or ACE, slap some Sprint footprints here and there to make it their own, remove OC from the kernels and make it their official release.

LOL, na then that would have happen months ago!
Once they put out a product, they only update it in response to mass outrage. Google keeps popping out updates and the manufactures and carriers can't slap bloatware on fast enough, so they lose incentive to update at all. They clearly don't focus their efforts as hard as these wonderful developers do! But why would they? They're hoping you'll get so frustrated that you'll move on to their next, barely-improved device!

SO TRUE, exactly what i have been sayin. I really dont even think we will see gingerbread, and if we do that will most likley be it for this failure of a phone. If it wasnt for custom roms and all the hard work around here i would have taken my epic back to the ****ing sprint store and threw it at the lying rep that sold it to me.
Same here. This phone has so Mich.potential that it will never see. Yeah the developers here are amazing but it would help them.out so.much.if Samsung gave.more support. If it wasn't for our developers I wouldn't have this phone right now.

I first used Bonsai 3.0 and restored everything using Titanium Backup and had FC's and data problems.
I Odined back to Stock EB13 Extended and then reflashed Bonsai 3.0.1 and DID NOT restore via TB rather just installed everything I needed from the Market and synced all my contacts back, and Bingo. Everything is flawless... I mean flawless. I have not had ONE FC or data problems. I even got Wifi Tether 3.0 Pre-11 working great! (Haven't used it long enough to see if it crashes, only two days so far with spans of 2 hours at a time)
I think thats what's causing many problems with current flash junkies; they flash so much that they rely on backups like TB or even NANDROID backup that sometimes all they need is a fresh install of EVERYTHING.
I hope this helps
This phone was decent out of the box, but no huge improvement over many of the other android phones... But after Midnight and Bonsai and Syndicate roms, it's many times better than any stock phone out there! Granted, the same is true for most of the top phones once given their own custom roms... but I bought this one. And my only regret is that I can't take half that money back and give it to K0nane and the others for doing Sprint and Samsung's work for them!
EC05 was actually great (if you were lucky to catch it the week it was released, if not, it is on this forum somewhere.) The only reason I rooted was to delete some apps, to overclock, and to try out 2.3.3. I can't wait until CM7 is done. I currently use Red Beast with the new Genocide kernel. I have overclocked it to 1.12 Ghz and undervolted it to 1200 mV (the amount of energy used at the stock 800 mhz. It is extremely fast and saves me tons of battery. So if you are done messing around with sprint, start making your phone your own.

Question for the Droid Incredible XDA Community

Hello everyone, I'd like to start this out by saying that I hope to not get flamed with this post. I do not own an Incredible (however I have played with MANY roms over the past two years with my various Android Phones). That being said, I've got a very... Well known client (public figure) who uses an Incredible. He has had *nothing* but trouble with it, especially since after the Gingerbread update (low storage space issues, needed to restore phone more than once, etc etc).
He is talking about getting an iPhone, but I would like him to get the "pure" Android experience before he makes a definitive decision. Essentially, he is tired of all the bugs and wants something that "just works".
My question to you guys:
Without me having to go through countless pages upon pages of posts, what in your guys' opinion is the best "stock" (whether that be CM7 or AOSP ROM) for the Incredible? What bugs (there area always bugs in ROMS right?) should I expect from the ROM and what should I notify him of in advance?
At this point in time, i'd say anything is better than stock gingerbread with HTC bloat that screws everything up constantly.
I just really need to make sure I put a solid ROM on his phone so that A) He will be happy and B) I will not be discredited on the air to hundreds of thousands of listeners.
Again, i'm not looking to be flamed for "not searching". I run a business, I do not have time to go through every single AOSP/CM thread to see every minute bug that is reported. Also, since this is not my phone, and he is a very busy person, I will have limited time to get this "right". I am just merely looking for your recommendations and experiences.
Thank you in advance everyone!
CM7 if you want a full pure android experience. If you want Sense, try one of the stock Sense roms that gets updated (Not mine. My inc died ) like Stock+ or McSense. Best of luck with your client! Don't let him switch to an iphone lol
Very few bugs (If any) on these. I can provide links if needed

Excellent thank you. I was leaning towards getting away from Sense entirely (AOSP or CM7) because he is absolutely sick of the way HTC has treated his stock incredible. All of these bugs are simply inexcusable. I know that the versions of Sense here on XDA most likely do not get the low storage issue... But i'd rather get him on pure Google. Them upgrade him to ICS when that hits
CM7.1, definitely. Mine's stable as a rock. It's a lot more stable than ANYTHING I've messed with on it, including stock.
I'd recommend putting CM7.1 on it until the Galaxy Nexus comes out, then convince the client that they need it.

I know previously on CM7 builds (not for the Incredible) i've had broken wifi at times, broken GPS, etc, etc. As long as this is "rock" solid like you say... I'd say that is the most viable option! Thanks man!

No bugs that I know of. I only ran it for a couple of days though. The nightlies tend to fix any bugs, but may have bugs of their own.
Bugless Beast is an aosp alternative to CM. It still runs on nightlys but the latest build is like 99% working and is rock solid. Stock GB.

Just wondering also, is there a solid MIUI build for the incredible? Just curious because I know that really impresses people as well lol!
CM7.1 is my vote. McSense if going the sense route.
I've not tried bugless beast yet simply because I love the ring lockscreen that the CM team cooked up. I also love the theme chooser that CM7 has.

Yeah. I personally don't like MIUI, but if you check their website, they have the latest build up. The last one I tried had a few minor bugs, but not bad. I'm sure they have been fixed though.
Cm 7.1. With the flashable adrenaline mod and incredikernel. Its been rock solid for me for almost a month.
-My life is a shooting range, people never change-
Root that thing and throw CM7 on it. They wont complain anymore. Ive been doing CM7 since it came out for the DInc and it has only gotten better. 7.1 is incredibly (pun intended) stable. And runs very smoothly. I think its probably more stable than stock. My DInc used to restart on its own all the time. I have not had that happen once with CM7. Battery life is great. With heavy texting, email, facebook, reddit usage. I get thru a day and usually have some juice left over. It can get to around 18% but still would last overnight if i forgot to plug it in, and still be at 18% in the morning!
Mine flies with CM7 and hasn't had any problems. My sister also has a DInc. She has been experiencing the low memory problem, I finally talked her into letting me root it and Rom it. CM7 is the way to go for a flawless experience. It is a little tidius to flash CWM and downgrade using ADB. It actually really inst necessary to downgrade and get s-off. I was able to install CWM on her phone and flash CM7 and gapps without a hitch. You have to use unrevoked 3.22 exe and do a custom recovery in administrator mode. (there is a write up somewhere here.)
after CWM was installed I flashed CM7. and it works great with s-on. The only time i think there would be a problem is if you wanted to flash an unsigned rom. but CM7 is signed so no biggy.
I will be sad to let my DInc go when I upgrade to either a galaxy nexus or a rezound in the next few months.
Good luck.
Use Bugless Beast if you want him to stay on Android, otherwise there is a highly underrated ROM called IncDeck 1.3... It's probably on the second page of the forums but that is the single best pure google ROM. The reason no one posts anything to the forum is because they have no issues to speak of lol.
Edit: I typed this from my droid 2... but I got it on friday lol. I'm not just talking out of my ass.

Excellent thank you for the suggestions everyone! I have to say, the Incredible userbase is much more friendly and forthcoming than many others I have encountered here on XDA (coughSamsungDevicescough)!
As of right now, I am leaning towards Bugless Beast, as I really want him to be impressed by the speed. Also, since he wants things to "just work" I think the less options (like those extras presented in CM7) the better.
Should I worry about the rooting process for the Incredible with the Gingerbread update? Do I need to downgrade firmware, etc?
Also, I know right now he is using stock Verizon VVM... Is that an issue to get working on this?... I may try to convert him to Google Voice if that is the case.

I was hoping that would be resolved by getting off of stock gingerbread alone? I've met numerous people with this issue... Even though their phones have HUGE amounts of free space, the Incredible reports that their storage is full. This results in FC's getting no emails etc. I've tied it to the HTC mail app, the Peep app, and a few other programs. If you clear cache/data it is a temp fix but then it will occur again at some point, much to their frustration.

People have had success downgrading to 2.2 with THIS.
As for VVM, I'm not quite sure if it works on AOSP so it may be better to put him onto Google Voice. It's free and it is much easier to use.

The full storage error is what many Inc users that updated to the GB 2.3.4 update faced. That particular update screwed up a lot of peoples phones but after rooting and flashing a different ROM, he should be fine.
One final issue i've had... This client has always saved his contacts as "phone contacts" rather than "google contacts". Does anyone know of an app that will batch upload them to Google?

Two different Epics, two completely different needs

I know it's too late for most to be asking this, but I work 7 days a week from noon to 1am, so these are my actively posting and reading hours...hopefully when I wake up around 10am Pacific Time that I'll have some interesting answers.
So for me...running Legendary 2.2 ROM w/ the kernel that came w/ it, OC'd to 1.5GHZ using ROM Toolbox to control my CPU and SD read speeds. I realize this is only a 2.3.5 ROM running EC05, so I figure it might be time for a change/update. I'm happy w/ the ROM, but I imagine there is faster out there now. I don't care about batter life in the slightest because my phone is charging in it's dock for 4/5ths of my day. I want to get rid of the stupid screen fluttering/flashing that always seems to happen regardless of if I'm running a stock or extended battery, which seems to have been going on for maybe a year or so now...it's embarrassing and I'm tired of telling the same lie that I'm calibrating my battery, which is causing the flickering. I want OBSCENELY fast, no lagging, and no issues, ie no random reboots, locking, fast one moment that falls on it's face and laggy the next. I use my phone for streaming Pandora at work, surfing the internet and I'm a texting whore. I know NOTHING of ICS or of some of the latest GB ROMS, MTL vs BTL, pros and cons of any of the latest radios, but I've gotten the general idea that I'm going to steer clear of Cyanogen as I don't wanna be on anything that is still experimental and doesn't have 100% function of things like Bluetooth, WiFI, WiFi tethering (I tether to my car stereo everyday since it's an Android based 7" double din deck), making random calls w/o radio issues, etc.
For my friend...she's running a bone stock Epic on 2.3.6 running EL30. She has no root, no nothing...and she probably wouldn't know the wiser until I get my hands on it. She says she hates the phone compared to the EVO she lost, so I'm trying to revive her faith that she's holding onto a powerhouse w/ the right ROM and kernel combo. She's a lady in her late 40's to early 50's, could care less about fancy tweaks, etc...she just wants it to work, period. Apparently the proximity sensor isn't working since she complained to me that she'll be talking and suddenly the phone is muted and people can't hear her....could be her, could be lag in the phone, who's to say. I assume she wants a plain Jane ROM, just that I root it, delete some of the bloat and I'm guessing battery life is important since most women I know never remember to throw their phones on the charger until it's about to die anyways,,,sucks during those peak bootycall hours
Anyways, I'd love to hear opinions, preferably concrete from those who've tried one vs the other, for both her and my situations. I've been on Legendary so long now that mods I used to follow are gone, understanding what the acronyms between the []'s boxes has become confusing, and I swear there forums have jumped leaps and bounds in terms of complexity in deciding on which ROM to run.
In doing some quick reading tonight, I'm guessing CleanGB 2.2 for her, but I have no clue for my particular needs/issues.
Wrong section. Post it in Q&A.

Don't know how you think cyanogen is expieremental. Its pretty stable, well cm9 is anyhow, cm7 has a video issue for some. But I run aokp, with the samurai kernel which is what legendary had in it. That kernel has come a long way since that ROM. If you click my banner it will take you to the site for them =] he has multiple platform kernels. Bml touchwiz or mtd, miui and miuiV4, cm7 and cm9/aokp. anyways not to persuade you once you try ICS you can't really go back... unless you have a extremely bad expierence for whatever reason. If you wish to stick to touchwiz, the peoples rom... is the way to go.
As for the lady friend, the same the peoples ROM. Its simple already removed of the bloat, and comes with a stable kernel, until earthbound releases his fc09 kernel for peoples rom. If she likes pink there is a nice dream of pink theme in the themes section by travmofosho. Its in the thread with bloody survival.

First off, what he said. After 400+ posts, you should know this. Kenny will move this shortly, I'm sure.
Secondly, MTD is a more stable format with more built-in room for apps for your phone. I highly recommend it.
After that, I recommend any EL30 or newer rom, as they're more stable than previous editions. Everybody has different results. There's a few, try them out.
Finally, if all that you use your phone for is "Pandora at work, surfing the internet and I'm a texting whore," then you should have no problem with your phone appearing "OBSCENELY fast." I regularly play Mario Kart 64 without so much as a hiccup and I have never overclocked beyond 1 Ghz.

4am Pacific Time i create a thread. I ask a simple question in the custom ROM's subforum, get four replies within minutes of posting (not w/ the name of a ROM, but told I'm in the wrong place instead), thread gets towed to Q&A subforum, 5hrs later and not another reply since.
Awesome.
Correction - UBER edited his post, thanks for the input. That's all I wanted.
RandomKing also gave you an answer. Some gratitude that your thread was moved instead of deleted would also be nice. You, yourself said it was the middle of the night. Less attitudy would get you more answers.
Thanks

I've basically stopped reading about CM* ROM's since they're always beta each time I've read about them in the past w/ the list of their various issues of things not working...maybe I'm just generalizing, but that's why I've stopped considering them.
I'm not sure if I've ever read up on AOKP (I will today) but I've run various version of Samurai overtop Legendary ROM and none really gave any differences in performance. I tried 4-5 different version w/ different speeds, not for the sake of trying to get my phone to be faster, but to stop the flickering I seem to get daily now.
I thought Touchwiz was just a launcher, but from your reply, I'm guessing it's more than that. If it's just a style of launcher, I personally use LauncherPro on my phone and my car stereo. I've used 7ZIP countless time to bake in my own custom APK's, battery meters, etc. Of all those names you mentioned, ICS sounds like the way to go. I'm going to go read about People's ROM again, but I'm assuming that's still GB.

I mentioned CleanGB since the guy mentioned in the title it'e nothing fancy. If People's ROM is the way to go for her, sounds like I need to find a version that was pre FC09? Has he already released hs FC09 version then, because you're wording makes it sound like it's aleady out and been test and not stable.
I thought about just installing Legendary for her since I've had a generally good experience w/ it (sans my screen fluttering, but I've read it might just be a my phone being old issue), but ever since reflashing it a week or so again (seperate issue), I now get daily updates for install and updated version of Spring trying to push a download to me. I don't wanna flash her phone w/ my ROM, then she has to see an annoying update. Sounds like People's ROM it is.

My post #5 above is why I posted in "the wrong subforum" as I got more replies there within minutes vs 5hrs later and I've gotten nothing since being told I was in the wrong place.

I'm still educating myself on MTD, so thanks for that information.
As for any EL30 ROM, that's where I was hoping for an exact answer...someone else who's tried this vs that. Duly note that everyone has different results when running certain ROM's, so I guess I'll just have to try a couple and see where they take me. I work no less that 75hrs a week on the 787 program, which is why I've been on Legendary for so long...I'm always at work. I was hoping for a "just install xxxxxx ROM, I came from Legendary to this and I loved the change".
Granted, I listed my main uses of my phone, but it still has it's little glitches. It's fast, but very occasionally it gets noticeably slower (LauncherPro gets choppy between scrolling screen vs buttery smooth, sometimes the screen takes a few seconds to react vs everything being bam, bam, bam, etc), so I do a reboot and everything is snappy again. Unless the battery is at 100%, I still get the annoying flickering of the screen regardless of how many times I've tried recalibrating the battery, using different version of Samurai kernel. The only thing that stops the flickering (which I hate doing) is to dim the screen. I'm hoping a different ROM will he;p solve my issues across the board.

RandonKing gave me a generalized statement, ie which radio to go with, not a specific name of a specific ROM. That's more or less what I was hoping for. The MTD is good information though.
I posted in the subforum I did because I knew what would happen once it got towed here...which has in fact happened. It's not about showing gratitude or less "attitudy". I just wanted a question answered and posted in the place I new it'd get the most popular exposure to my specific questions vs being thrown into a bowl of questions that range from people favorite themes to how come my WiFi won't connect. I wanted a specific ROM question, so I asked in the subforum that discussed those and those alone.
Just play with some ROMs and see what you like. Like most will say, once you hop on CM9 or AOKP you won't go back. There's 0 reasons to be on ec05.

Please do not post question threads in the Development section again. I do not like to give infractions but will for people crying for attention.
Now to answer your questions Touchwiz is not a launcher, it has a launcher. It is the default framework used by Samsung for these phones. Anything based on Samsung software such as EL30 or FC09 is Touchwiz. For the best EL30 ROM I feel CleanGB is it. For the best FC09 choose The People's ROM 2.0. Grab the first links stating clean versions.

Just so you know CM7 is ROCK SOLID!!!!! Both me and the wife are on it with no issues. CM9 is solid but still work in progress I am waiting to make that jump back to 9 once it goes to RC. I have tried the Peoples it is solid as well it really depends on your needs and how your particular phone reacts to a ROM. Both mine and my wife's phone are slightly different with the exact same setup. As far as radios are concerned update to EL30 at least. If you have a hard time locating the files let me know just PM me. I haven't been around much lately real life getting in the way.

Yeah cyanogen is stable for the most part.. there are a few tiny perks but i've never had any issues on it. As for the samurai kernel ... like i've said your probably flashing older versions that are for EI22 which is what legendary is and thats the source of your problem... hes fixed and has perfected his kernels recently. What i mean with fc09 is that there isnt a samurai for fc09 as of yet... but the one that comes with it is nice and stable and simple... its not as tweaked as the samurai kernel.. its relatively stockish. So you dont need a pre fc09 version because there isnt one. So yes the peoples ROM will more than likely be the ROM for her... its still GB smooth and stable, and if she wants so more "taste" to it and she likes pink... go to the themes section and there is one in there for her .

OH and the flickering.. is the RGB values and the Gama values being to high... its does a weird lines accross the screen??? especially on white screens? Then thats to blame. Get voodoo sound from the market and go to the voodoo color settings and lower the RGB's and the Gama.. As i said previously... your flashing old versions of the Samurai kernels... his newest ones arent for ei22 but EL30 so if you update... you will have a much smoother phone. Also... if you phone is being used for more than 15 hours.. the cache builds... then it forces apps to use more RAM... and this slows stuff down... Reboots are nessecary. Also the newest samurai has much better memory management... which will do this for you.. i got more than a day without a reboot and its just as smooth as it was when i first put in the battery... and im on ICS.. which uses a TON of RAM and requires more to run... and its still as slick as GB.
IMO nothing g is better than CleanGB EL30 MTD.
CM roms are always buggy it seems to me, no matter who likes them or says they are stable/great. I'd never use one, and certainly would never put one on another persons phone.

Crying? Over-exaggerate, don't you think? I got the point, you don't have to belittle me as well for asking a question on a subforum that spoke of nothing more than the ROM's I'm in question about.

Yes you were *****ing in android development to get attention... id suggest removing this post before the mod removes you from xda.
I have given a ton of help you'd be smart to help your self and remove you post. And I will remove my quote.

[Q] Looking for an older rom. (SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2)

Since upgrading to my S4, my Epic 4G just sits now. I thought I would just give it to my son for a music/video player and for games. I've ran a number of different roms on it, but the most stable and fastest as well was SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2. I still have most of the roms I've used, but somehow or another, I no longer have this one, and have been unable to find a working link for it anywhere.
Does anyone have a copy that they could upload, or know of a working link for it? Thx.
Dude, I just looked EVERYWHERE for it.
Unless it's sitting on someone's hard drive somewhere, I think it's gone.
If it's any consolation, here is SyndicateROM Frozen 1.3 in it's beta. The unreleased, long sought after SRF 1.3. By beta, i mean it looks almost the same as stock, though I remember it being super smooth.
If someone wants to get mad at me for leaking it after all these years, so be it.
I also found BakedSnack 2.4 and some old Bonsai stuff. Quite the treasure trove of memories.
Hmm. I found 1.1.0 and 1.1.1 in an old sdcard backup.
Wow, going way back. I could offer you CleanGB MTD 1.1.2, I think by Toadlife? Was always my personal fall back stable ROM, post SRF of course ☺
Of course its still listed in the forum I see. So I'm worthless. :b
