Found another simple time-consumer game. It's new and called Gooo. It's colorful and quite easy... to level 12. Level 12 is the end of the game because it can't be done. So if 11 levels is long enough for a game, this is it. If you want more for your money, don't buy it.

It's a bit like World of Goo meets iBlast Moki.
I only played 2 levels though.
It's pretty fun. As you progress, new gameplay mechanics are introduced. The ad placement on the free version is really intrusive, but I guess there is always the paid version if it bothers you. Either way, worth a download.

How right you are. I played the first few levels and got frustrated with the ad. I immediately went to buy the paid version. I felt it was well worth it.

That's the best I can think of for a description. I might throw in a bit of Chicks'N'Vixens gameplay as well.
Sadly this game is only playable to level 12. I think the dev is having a bit of a joke at our expense because level 12 can't be done. If it can be done, the dev went from normal gameplay to super-friggin impossible gameplay in one level rather than ratcheting up the difficulty over numerous levels.
I can't recommend the game any longer. It is no longer a casual, time-passing game.
Does anybody know if World Of Goo will be available on the markeplace?

I'm happy if people were waiting for it to come to WP7 in order to switch, but I personally wasn't too impressed with the game.
It's pretty boring and definitely repetitive. The best redeeming quality is how many levels are included. (which is quite a few)

Yea.
The funnest thing about the game is the Sound Effects (the birds cheering, so CUTE!!!). Boring game, though, IMO. By the time I got to the boomerang birds, I was more than ready to uninstall it.
If there's anything I hate in a game, it's monotanous repetition.

actually its not that great of a game. I was bored with it pretty fast
I personally don't need an RPG on my phone to kill some time.. Angry birds is a perfectly good time killer game..
It's funny how many people post to say they don't like it. I think the download numbers speak for themselves... Two OS' have had MAJOR success, I don't think Windows Phone 7 will be any different.. . Great thing is, if you don't prefer it, it was free, and you can remove it.
Me personally, repetitive or not, it's a great time killer while sitting in the waiting room at the dr...
Thank You Rovio!

havent seem a word since I posted that article from wpcentral.
Found another addicting, simplistic game to try. It's free and super easy. But it's time-passingly fun.
Hmm... What is the purpose of this "game" (except showing ads)? Funny popping sound?
One of my all-time favorites (from it's Facebook days).
The purpose is to figure out a way to create a chain reaction of explosions (hence the name ). The longer the chain, the higher the score you receive. The catch is that you only get one tap to start the reaction. If you don't explode enough of the balls on any level, you have to try again - you can't move on to the next level.
hello
whats the name of game?
Chain Reaction (it's in the thread title ).
I also found two more new games that seem to be pleasant: Enigmo, an XBOX Live title, and FlagSpotting.

I'm sure there are plenty of other, challenging, games for you to be satisfied with. They all don't have to be for you.
Woohooo! Beat all 30 levels of Chain Reaction!
Thanks for the great comments!
Thanks for all the kind words regarding our newest game! It is doing better than we ever could have hoped for and really appreciate all of the support. We will try to keep the game fresh with new levels, and maybe even a couple of unexpected features. Any feedback anyone here has would be greatly appreciated.

You're doing a super excellent job with this wonderful little game. I don't know if the save feature was there prior to the last update, but I had call to use it recently and was appreciated.

The save feature has actually been there since version 1.0. It would automatically save your game any time the game "tombstoned" (Press the Windows key, get a text message, etc.). However, we realized that people would have no way of knowing this since it was not an advertised feature. That is why we added in the save game and exit button on the pause menu so that everyone would know that they could do that. Plus, with the 40 level "Insane" mode, it can take you a little while to work all the way through it. Maybe not something everyone wants to do in one sitting.
We can't say thank you enough for everyone making Chain Reaction such a hit! Look for our next game Pooping Pigeons to hit the marketplace later this week. Check out this page for some screenshots of it:

Hi,
I think it would be nice if everyone can tell us each other their achievments score on XLive.. if your total includes score from Xbox than please mention it.. as Xbox players get higher scores easily..
My present AS is : 1825, all from Windows Phone games as I dont have Xbox ...
If you want to compare your scores with mine than you can always add me at: Pulakification.
I think its a shame that we have to be Xbox gold members in order to message each other.. sometime I get stuck in some level and I want to ask other players on my list how did they cleared it, but I can message them because I am not a Xbox Gold member.. also I think the 'gamer of the week' is always picked from Xbox gamers with gold membership...
I'm not sure what my exact GS is. Something around 12500 or so. Mostly achieved through XBox games though. If anybody wants to add me, see my signature.
mine is 4115. gotten mostly from Xbox games (GTA 4 containing the majority of them) and windows phone games, had my Xbox since Feb and my arrive since march so that's pretty good for 5 months. my GT is the same as here on the forums.
GT: Yannie Boy
107172
Game on my 360, HD7 and PC.
240
Yes, 240
Mine is 6700 about 1200 or so from WP7

I have a lot of score only because I buy a crapload of game.. not because I am good at any.. I have only completed Need For Speed and Rocket Riot Acheivments.. all the rest I am stuck in some levels.. beside I am AS score sucker..
I have noticed that these new games which come out lately, all AS scores dont unlock easily untill you finish the game, once you reach the final levels all AS scores starts unlocking very quickly one by one...
On some games like Sonic and Ilomilo.. I am stuck at level 2 or something.. Ilomilo I dont know how to cross the first level itself..
What exactly is the point of the score? Can I buy something with it? Will anyone know me for it?
Seems like a pointless reward system to make one feel better about buying and playing a game, nothing more.

You can't do anything with the gamer score (Mines only 1550 as of today), It's just like this. Compare with your friends and beat scores.
I guess the very, very high people might get into some contests or something but, over all, it's just bragging rights.
I never watched it really, I do play games on 360, PC, WP7...but, from getting my trophy with your scrore in your face every time you go into games, I am interested now. Good marketing I guess...
My Gamer tag is the same as my user name on XDA an other sites...DavidinCT (also on PSN too)

not even! they help one to get the most out of games that they buy for more replay value. for example if this wasn't around one would get all the unlockables and then not play the game again but with achievements u can still play to get them all even after all the unlockables are unlocked so it's more than a "pointless reward system to make one feel better about buying and playing a game, nothing more". however u do have those who are obsessed with their GS and will buy the stupidest games just for an easy 1000-1500pts and as a result have a GS over 25,000.
The point of Acheivement Score is to give you a human opponent and competetion.. and whats the point of playing a game without any competition?
my ones 30025, all from 360, windows pc, and windows phone. got lots of games, some are finished, but most arent. still trying to get 5 more on parachute panic, 10 more on fruit ninja, and 9 more in ilomilo, and 7 more in max and the magic marker.
still waiting for microsoft money to come on windows phone 7.

The point of that score is to get it as high as possible and to do that, you need to buy more games. Basically I think that it's a way to "trick" customers into buying more games to get an as high gamerscore as possible

You know what a lot of people who write their gamertag and say feel free to add me.. and than when I add them, I get a message back like: "Who the hell are you? Do I know you??"
And than I cant even reply back to them because I dont have Gold Membership, I dont know what will I do with gold membership when I dont have Xbox and use only WP for my gaming...
That guy from Nokia release vedio from Sweden, with gamertag 'JiiKii', he in the starting of his Nokia phone presentation said 'Now you know my Live ID and you all can add me..' but I added him and he has not accepted me yet, one month now.. and I can even delete this request, its hang in their in 'pending' section..
And than someone with gamertag 'solaclipse' ... she wrote 'feel free to add me anytime' ... but when I did I got a message back 'who the hell are you?' and I cant reply back ...

What is the copyright on almost 30 year old games anyway (that's scary)?
Nintendo keeps their copyrights current by releasing a mario/zelda game every 2-3 years but, Adventure for the Atari 2600 ?
Atari is no longer a company, it's just a name (the orginal company is long gone, the name was sold to a software company a few years ago). Any title on the 2600/7800 has not been seen in well over 15 years for a name remake or other uses.
I really wonder what is the copyright guidelines are here....
As for the emulator goes, performace is not great on my Trophy with 7800 titles, WHen we can run NES/SMS almost perfect, this should be much better. And we do need some onscren controls, even if they are basic.
Hi,
recently, after Flappy Bird was put off Google Play Store, there were a LOT of Flappy Bird clones published to Play Store. I'm wondering if these kind of easy casual games are still profitable, considering the amount of time it takes to create them and the money you gain from banners/interstitial ads. I guess most of the games just don't get enough attention because of the enormous mass of casual games nowadays.
Are there any developers out there who can make a living out of creating casual games? Or do bigger projects equal bigger money? Need to hear some experiences about that, still not sure which dimensions to choose for the my next couple of games.

I would recommend you head over to App Annie and read up a little bit. They can tell you what is trending and what markets to hit with your game. They have some very valuable market statistics to help you determine your goal.
As far as casual games go? Take a look at this article. I would venture to say you're still good for awhile.
Interesting link, thanks! Seems that casual games aren't that outworn - for now.
I'm a casual games dev and I make more than the average salary with them, so I think the opportunity is definitely still there. I also think it is pretty difficult, and some of my worse games are the best money makers, so I think luck plays a role as well.

Interesting that you should ask. They just released another article relating to the Advertising and Monetization of Apps. They draw some statistics from 2013-2014 regarding Advertisements in-app and on the web to show how lucrative mobile development can be. That's one way you can use the statistics to help market your game. Furthermore, they show what works and what doesn't.

Think its testament to the fact that if its novel an original you just never know.

You're absolutely correct. You can really develop a one-off and not even know it's going to be successful. My advice is to keep making games to increase your knowledge of coding and some of those games where you may be just testing a physics engine or special concept might be the most fun.
I made some Game with > 1 millions users, and I earn only $100-$200 every month.
3 years ago, with less users I earned $1000 by month.
What kind of game did you make?
Sent from my 2013023 using XDA Free mobile app
It's not a binary question but more of a sliding scale. Casual games can be profitable, but to move towards the point where profit is more predictable and less of a coin toss, you really need an ecosystem of small, solid games rather than a few make-or-break titles. Apps by the same developer cross-promote to some extent, and a lot of other little things play into it.
