Is there any settings that I could change in the DHD to display high-res pictures in browsers?
For example, go to any photo hosting sites, such as flickr, and see any random picture. If you zoom in a bit, the picture will turn blurry meaning that they are of low-res. But if you do the same on iphone4, the picture won't turn blurry if you zoom in a little.
I don't think it's only my phone since the display models all have the same problem. And it's not stock browser problem either because dolphin hd displays low-res pictures too.
I'm new too, hope there's someone who can help. Same with contact image, why are they too low quality?

strange i never experienced any at all.. mine are fine
Are you browsing on mobile data or wifi?
My previous network, T-Mobile, would compress every image that was served to me, even if I was on my laptop tethered from my phone.
Am on tmobile usa

Hey everyone with the AT&T Tilt and maybe to all of the other Touch Pro 2 owners - are your images "blurry" in Opera Mobile? Text is crystal clear, but images are blurry like they're compressed. I notice this mostly with logos (like facebook, google), but full size images are perfect. Also, the small image previews in m.facebook.com are very pixelated, but once you click on them to see the full picture, its clear and great quality.
I've turned off the AT&T proxy, and also notice this over wifi. Is it because the mobile sites are used to less-resolution displays? Any suggestions?
I've also noticed that for some reason, Opera Mobile displays the very low quality or thumbnail version of pictures in Picasaweb, and since Opera stretches the image to fit the screen, it looks terrible. I tried this on my Treo Pro (PIE) and my Blackberry Bold, and the image is far clearer, and it actualy downloads the higher res version of the photos (320x480) whereas the TP2 downloads something more like 100x160 or something like that. Any help?
Also, this happens when using wifi as well.
Maybe it's because the turbo is on.
Turbo is on

go to setting and turn turbo off. I use opera mini on my desk top as well on my tp2. When turbo is on it compress image size for faster surfing speed. That should fix your problem if it dont that strang.
Yes agree, with turbo off image quality improves a little
DonĀ“t forget t vote guys!
Wasn't Turbo, it's due to the "Adaptive Zoom" in opera:config settings. I think it was set at 200% because the resolution is just so much higher than other mobile devices, and most websites are formatted for 320x480.
Has anyone else noticed this? When you go to Photos on your Desire and browse them - even if full screen - they never show up sharp, but bit blurry. If you zoom in/out on them they soon sharpen up. Weird.
Just wondering if its an issue with my phone or general issue.
Sorry few posts this morning... Its been a Desireble morning.

There's an explanation for that..

Thanks for the link. I agree with the many opinions that this is an issue with resolution, NOT color depth. The pics are blurry - not sharp.
Hope this can be fixed soon. I use the Photos gallery to show pics to friends etc and it doesnt look impressing.

I think you're mistaking the Cooliris gallery you find on stock 2.1 with the Photo gallery on the Desire which is HTC's own app for Sense UI.
Look up Cooliris and Nexus One.

My mistake. I've not got my Desire yet (Roll on, Monday) so just thought they'd be using the same gallery app.
If you find any information on this matter though, keep us posted.
To the OP, could you elaborate? Are these pictures you took on the phone camera? Did you sync them from your PC and if so did you just drag and drop them onto the SD or did you use some syncing software i.e. Doubletwist? Did you download them from the phones browser and if so was it over Wifi or 3G?
I just sent over a large photo (4656x3600) and it's sharp in preview mode and zoomed in. I synced some photos using Doubletwist and it reduced the size of the photos without me knowing...so it wasn't the phone. Pictures I've taken with the phone are also fine.
Its most noticeble with photos taken with the Desire camera. If you zoom in or out they sharpen, otherwise they are bit fussy.
Please check if the zooming does any difference on yours?
I'n not having this problem at all with my Desire.

Yes, I see what you're talking about. The picture isn't shown full resolution until you do some zooming in or out.
I must say, personally it's not that big a deal, and I can't seem to find any way to change that behaviour.
Is it possible to install Cooliris on the Desire?

Yes, but that just degrades the visual quality WAY more than the HTC photo app.

It does?? I heard it is a great app...
I'm not having any such problem with either the photos app or the Gallery3D app
They show blurry as the system is showing a lower quality thumbnail that it has saved so that browsing between them is quicker. Once you start zooming in it loads the full size image and it becomes sharper.
any update on this , as a photographer i have my portfolio
on my Desire handy to show my pictures to anyone that is interested..
but it always take me to zoom them in a little to render them sharp which is a pain in the but when wanting to show them off in a quick manner...
if not any good alternatives then the gallery...
Does anyone have Gallery 3D successfully working on the EVO and syncing photos with picasa???
If so, how... and can you provide directions.
Thanks!!!

From what I've read, the Gallery 3D has bugs (crashes when you use the camera). Anyone know of a more bullet-proof way of synching Picasa web photos with the Evo? How about a Picasa-like photo viewer on the Evo that will edit & organize photos like the Picasa desk-top application?
Try this one...it works great.
i've been using 3D gallery on my EVO since the first day I got it. It's been flawless and it's extremely smooth as well. You probably just got a bad apk. Try the newer ones, you'll love it.
Thanks david279. Your attached APK worked great on my Evo.
Many thanks, I appreciate it.
When you open the camera via the gallery, it only gives you the ****tiest resolution, it hasnt been properly ported to the evo yet
also zooming in on a photo makes it look like its crap in 3-d gallery, its like its zooming in on a low-res sample and not the 8mp image that it is. If i zoom in with htc's gallery it looks incredible.

Works fine on my phone as well... for the record, you do have to wait a bit for the image to full load when you zoom in. It will zoom in pixelated and then after a bit it will sharpen up and look the way it should.
Here's the new working link.

there you go guys.
I have my contacts in the people app linked to their facebook profiles ,there contact pics seem very pixelated where as on my desire hd they were fine ,is there any way to alter them
Sent from the Beast that is the HTC One X in white......
Yeah i have the same problem to,i think is a HTC problem.I edited a contact and selected to take a picture. In the galery the picture looks good, but when it calls it's verry pixelated.
Did you noticed that it flickers a bit when you scroll down?
Its a common problem for all devices on ics. Google ics contact pic resolution and see the results.Google dropped the ball on this.

Using HaxSync worked great on the Galaxy Nexus because it synced high resolution contact pics from FB. I'm using it on the One X and although it syncs, the pictures are still pixelated . Dammit HTC!
this isn't a new problem is it? I had this on my old desire and google and facebook pics were pretty bad.
Isn't there any app on the playstore that has the option to view the full screen picture of the contact?I mean,on IOS when somebody calls you,the picture apears on fullscreen.I am thinking that if we use some apps we won't have this problem with the pixelated pictures because it's a custom app wright?
Maybe we should write to HTC so that they can come up with a fix for this..its really annoying..

Yeah, it's called HaxSync. Works great for Galaxy Nexus, but I tried it on the One X and the pictures are still pixelated. I think it's because of Sense.
I don't think so.After posting in this thread i tryed something.I had some old pictures taken with a Nikon camera in my PC,so i tooked a picture with my wife, put it on dropbox, after that i've downloaded that picture in my phone and set it up as picture for my wife contact. Now when she calls the picture is absoluthely amazing,i mean,no pixels involved.Could this be a size problem? The pictures that were taken with the Nikon had 4240X3680 resolution.
I also wondered, why is it so damn stupid quality... it isn't difficult to make it high res..
using Haxsync too, it's better than standard..
Go here for the best app

Doesn't work on One X.
when I take a photo then view it and zoom in, the photo becomes pixelated and does the same when i viewed it in photoshop never did this on my s4 any suggestions please.....
What settings did u mess with ? Or auto everything?
Sent from my LG-H818 using XDA Free mobile app
Any photo is made up of pixels, so when you zoom, you will see those pixels of course, it's expected.
So I'm confused what you mean. Are you saying that when you zoomed into the S4 pictures, you never saw any pixels? That's impossible!
Perhaps it's just different software or tools you happen to be using, maybe you somehow are able to zoom further into the G4 pictures so that you can finally see the pixels, but when you used the S4 you just never got close enough to start seeing the pixels? But trust me, every single digital picture has pixels, you can't avoid it.
Are you using the correct resolution?
You can't really change the G4's photo resolution, at least not using the included Camera app. So it's unlikely the OP is shooting at, say, 2MP rather than 16MP.
But as KingFatty said, every photo will become pixelated if you zoom in far enough, that's just the nature of the beast.
The only "exception" I can think of is if you are using the digital zoom on the G4. It handles this a bit strangely, IMO.
On my last phone, as I recall, it would save digitally-zoomed picture as a lower-resolution file, reflecting what the sensor actually captured.
But with the G4, the picture will still be saved at the normal resolution (5312x2988, if shooting in 16:9). But in reality, if zoomed fully to 8X, it only captured 1/8 of the normal area on the image sensor. It only captured what was at the middle of the image sensor, then it stretched that out, "pretending" it captured 5312x2988. When in reality, what it captured is much lower resolution.
So a digitally-zoomed picture will look much worse than normal, when you zoom in using Photoshop, etc. It'a *already* been digitally zoomed in once, when it was saved. If using the digital zoom, you may as well just take a normal picture, then crop it down later to just what you want, it's the same end result.
This is why I never use digital zoom on anything. Cropping the final picture will always give you a better result than digital zoom since the digital zoom also effectively cancels any image stabilization in use.
How far area you zooming in? If you look at a photo from a DSLR at 100%+ you easily see the pixels and you can see how soft the photo is.
