Hey everyone with the AT&T Tilt and maybe to all of the other Touch Pro 2 owners - are your images "blurry" in Opera Mobile? Text is crystal clear, but images are blurry like they're compressed. I notice this mostly with logos (like facebook, google), but full size images are perfect. Also, the small image previews in m.facebook.com are very pixelated, but once you click on them to see the full picture, its clear and great quality.
I've turned off the AT&T proxy, and also notice this over wifi. Is it because the mobile sites are used to less-resolution displays? Any suggestions?
I've also noticed that for some reason, Opera Mobile displays the very low quality or thumbnail version of pictures in Picasaweb, and since Opera stretches the image to fit the screen, it looks terrible. I tried this on my Treo Pro (PIE) and my Blackberry Bold, and the image is far clearer, and it actualy downloads the higher res version of the photos (320x480) whereas the TP2 downloads something more like 100x160 or something like that. Any help?
Also, this happens when using wifi as well.
Maybe it's because the turbo is on.
Turbo is on

go to setting and turn turbo off. I use opera mini on my desk top as well on my tp2. When turbo is on it compress image size for faster surfing speed. That should fix your problem if it dont that strang.
Yes agree, with turbo off image quality improves a little
Don´t forget t vote guys!
Wasn't Turbo, it's due to the "Adaptive Zoom" in opera:config settings. I think it was set at 200% because the resolution is just so much higher than other mobile devices, and most websites are formatted for 320x480.

Just got my new xda2s, and wanted to know if there was a patch or something to make the camara full screen like my old xda2 in capture and video mode, or is that just the way it is now.

Is there no way to make the camera output work full screen and unlike the xda II the zoom doesnt seem to work.. or is there something been done wrong?
bR
To zoom you must reduce the resolution of the picture in manage picture settings (bit of a scam really)
i too would like to know about the full screen camera function like the old xda's cause my mate has one and i prefer that better to the small screen version on the M2000
Yeah, bizarre that, there must be a registry hack to allow the zoom to be used in standard capture mode? Mine works fine in video, but not in photo mode!
I must admit that when I bought by Blue Angel, I didn't really consider the camera other than to note thats its only 640x480 - there are just TOO many other toys to play with. But after having used it a couple of times, it would have been nicer to have a higher resolution, zoom etc, but what the heck, this is a PDA/phone, not a Nikon
All I do to get a "zoom" is crop & resize the images in paintshop pro before printing them.
Hi guys!
despite i use my HD for 9 months now, i still didn't find an application to make photos stored into my HD to be seen in hi resolution when they are attached to a contact or displayed by TFD3D within Photos and Videos tab
it's kinda of frustrating when you take nice pics with a dedicated camera with +5Mpx and then transfer them into HD
i know that there are some "manual" methods to make them displayed in hi-res but this is very dificult when you have more then 10 pics
so i am asking if you, smart guys here, can make such an application in order to be used by all of us with less programming skills
i am sorry if this app allready exists and i dind't find it out. if so, please point me to the right direction
thank you and best regards to all of you!
this is interesting - 105 users view this and no comment
if it is intersting, why no comment?
if it is not interesting, why +100 views?
It's interesting and I would like such an app as well - but it doesn't make much sense for me to comment because I have no idea on how to program it!
And I'm quite sure most of the 105 other users that have read this don't know either!
Tap on the low res "framed" image on the Photos and Videos tab to open the image in glorious high quality.
Slide left and right to scroll through the images in the album.
As for contacts, add the high quality image to the contact on the phone, not via Outlook, and it will show a high quality version on the phone.
Hope this helps and I haven't totally missed what you really wanted

nope
i know what you said and this is not how i wanted
i want to copy hi-res pictures from my cam into my SD card and them to use them to attach to contacts or to display on "Pictures and Videos" tab without any manual trick in order to be displayed in hi-res
if this is not possible "by default" because of some windows or htc bug, then i want an application that can be run and then all pics to be displayed in hi-res, no matter what i do with them
would that be possible?
It should be possibly, its just that no one has ever developed such a program and I can't see anyone doing this either
sorry, dont get that.
every picture, i transfer to my touch hd from an external source, are displayed in high resolution.
you sure, you dont need some glasses?
please add a screenshot to show what your problem is.
Hm, do you want a 1:1 pixel mapping? Then you will have to scroll around on your display to see the image.
Attention modern art:
Attached picture shows the relation of a 5Mpix image (2kx2.5k) to a wvga (480x800 black rectangle) screen.
Typically images will be downsampled to show 'all' information on a smaller resolution. Simple example: Having a 16x16 image and you want to show it on 8x8 screen you could take the average of 2x2 pixel blocks of the image which will give the pixel color in the 8x8 screen. This will introduce some bluriness.

smart line! did you came out with it all by yourself?
the low res pictures problem of HD when attached to contacts or displayed on pictures & videos tab is well known.
maybe i missed something and it is solved on newer roms but i count also on fallen spartan comments and it seems that it is not solved yet

Both the HD's I've got show high res contact images.
I put the images on the phone (created an Avatar folder to keep things neat) then from the contact picked the image.
From what I've read, that's the way to do it.
If you pick the images in outlook then sync, it creates a lower res image and uses that on the phone.
The rolordex screen in album is admitedly lower res than selecting the image and scrolling left and right, but then if it wasn't the rolordex would be a lot more cpu hungry, what with having to display the picture rotated slightly, and animate it as you flick through the album.
Is there any settings that I could change in the DHD to display high-res pictures in browsers?
For example, go to any photo hosting sites, such as flickr, and see any random picture. If you zoom in a bit, the picture will turn blurry meaning that they are of low-res. But if you do the same on iphone4, the picture won't turn blurry if you zoom in a little.
I don't think it's only my phone since the display models all have the same problem. And it's not stock browser problem either because dolphin hd displays low-res pictures too.
I'm new too, hope there's someone who can help. Same with contact image, why are they too low quality?

Are you browsing on mobile data or wifi?
My previous network, T-Mobile, would compress every image that was served to me, even if I was on my laptop tethered from my phone.
Am on tmobile usa
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
same thing on my dhd from clove.co.uk
Hi guys,
I have my Xperia Z1 Compact. The smartphone is advertised(and reviewed!) as having very good display quality. However I cannot agree with that. My previous phone was Iphone 4s(so 2-3 years older smartphone) and while I really loved android as a system(it has its drawbacks though) I can't say that I loved sony's display. The quality is low. I can't even call it average. Much worse than Iphone 4s' display. There are four main problems that I noticed:
1) Unrealistic colours - the most annoying problem. Tanned skin look orange or red so any photos from beach will look like basket with tomatos. Just check the picture on polish wikipedia of politician 'Janusz Palikot' and see the difference.
2) Any details completely missed in a shadow. Just watch the beggining of the video on youtube called "7. bronn the commander"
and see difference between Z1compact and 4s(or your computer):
3) viewed images quality in applications like facebook are much lower than in real(or on Iphone). When I view a picture in facebook it seem to be less sharp than if I download the picture on computer, send it to e-mail and then download it from my e-mail to smartphone,
4) When i check gamma in app called "display tester" (option: gamma detection) the result is 1.4 while i read that it should have been 2.2. What's the reason?
What's the reason of those drawbacks(the third one is the least annoying but still) and how can I fix it? Is there any way to calibrate it(someone did that?) I use app "screen adjuster" but it's solve problems only partially and it's heals only symptoms not causes.
BTW White balance DOESN'T help.
PS. Sorry that I don't post the exact links but I am not allowed to I am attaching photos anyway
my dispaly is fine. It looks same on all Z1c's. Check the pictures I attached yourself. How is that possible that smartphone advertised as having top quality display works like this and cannot even display human skin properly? Iphone 4s i almost 3 years older but the display is FAR above sony's.
Anyway is there anything I can do to fix it?
I tried changing aspect ratios but it doesnt help/make the picture bigger
I saw a thread that someone recommended to use samsung internet video player but I am unable to play netflix
Any suggestions how to get the best out of content for the fold 4? I know you can pinch and zoom but it cuts out so much that might as well not watch as you miss so many details
Maybe somehow hack the custom res?
Thanks

unfortunatly no. only way is zooming in which will eat half of the video. the aspect ration is a hige draw back for consuming media on fold series

I hoped someone figured out a way to make it better besides cutting half the video to fill lol
And now you know how we felt in the early 2k's when 16:9 became a thing and we still had our 4:3 CRT's. Letterbox is annoying.

yes, any workaround?
Not a lot you can do, making something that's 16:9 sit nicely on a 4:3 display has never been pretty, but if you enable flex panel mode on Netflix, and only use the top half of the display it fills that.
Other than that just ignore the black unused areas, still getting a decent size playback area after all, and oled, so black uses no energy...
Run Netflix in pop-up mode, make it fill the width of your screen and adjust the height to fit the image, then use the rest of your screen for another app
You really can't without making things worse IMHO.
It's like owning a 4:3 TV and using a pan/scan simulator so the screen is filled.
You just cut off too much!
You get used to the bars, I still prefer this format for everything else!

thanks a lot
To me, this could be simple to solve if the zoom/pinch have 2 or more levels because the single zoom level avalizable is just too much and results in a heavily cropped imagem, but, with intermediate zoom levels, one can control how much screen space is used to content and who much image is cropped out...
I've been watching all of my locally stored media files on an app called SVplayer. It has an option called "black bars outer lighting". This will fill in the black bars of your display, if the video does not match the aspect ratio of your device . This effect is most commonly used on social media and vertically shot videos that are shown on news broadcasts. I then zoom into the video about 25 to 30%. which makes the top and bottom lighting bars less apparent. In my opinion, this is the best compromise and is honestly the only reason why I ended up buying a Galaxy Fold 4. I couldn't enjoy videos with such prominent black bars on everything I watch.
