[Q] How Can I Unroot My T-Mobile G2? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I unroot the T-Mobile US G2 if I used the gfree method? I also had to use the guide for "new" G2's. http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/14344-how-to-root-a-new-g2/
Can I just flash a T-Mobile US G2 stock rom? or does the thread that says not to apply a stock rom still apply? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838484
My current status is rooted with radio s-off, eng-hboot, sim-unlocked, and SuperCID.
What is the easiest way to get back to stock? Do I have to hex edit if I used the gfree method and what should I flash first?

Call me a jerk if you want but have you even bothered to look for your answer or did you just post this in hopes someone would hold your hand through the process? Seriously there is a guide on how to do it in the dev forum.
dont send me pm's crying about how i hurt your feelings in a thread

Well thanks for at least responding but yes I already did search for a guide. I also read the xda G2 wiki page on unrooting. I just want to clarify since I used the new process (linked in my first post) and I also flashed a eng-hboot.
I do not know how the new rooting process I did would affect the unrooting steps, especially since I had to do something dealing with the "misc_version".
Edit: I decided just to follow the wiki and it worked. I also didn't have to do anything special.

[Q] How to unroot and get slide back to OEM?

For reference how would I go about getting the phone back to complete stock? I have tried 2 ROMs so far, CR_Mod_1.35.531_OTA Full ROM and CyanogenMod-6 for MT3G Slide - V6.0.0-RC1. Just in case that information is relevant. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
You are kidding right? you use the search bar yet?
The poster was not rude when he asked his question, i'm not sure why you felt the need to reply in the manner that you did. If you don't have a reply or find the informaton yourself by the time I get home, bud, ill post the thread.

I agree with you, but seriously... a lot of these questions that are being asked (in the development forum nonetheless) should be going in Q&A obviously. Not to mention that pretty much any question that gets asked generally can be answered in The Slide Rom Bible Thread.
Yeah please search next time. Sorry for the previous poster but serioulsy we have people asking thed same questions over and over again and clogs up the forum. Also technically is in wrong section should be in qa so please be carefull of this for future posts
The answer you are looking for is in the bible thread. Flash the champion build with those instructions and would be unrooted.

I apologize for the rudeness, my jerk of a brother also has a slide and frequents this forum. he uses my laptop seeing as he doesnt have one and used my account seeing as it is saved in the browser. again my sincere apologies.
Edit: Fell free to Pm me whenever you need help Xerphon. again my apologies.
I think there was a spot on his butt you forgot to kiss.
Why do you people thing there is a Q & A section is this subforum?! YOU CANNOT post your question in the most popular subforum section just because you think you'll get a quicker answer here. This happens way too much to be accidential and everybody still claims it was.
I apologize for posting in the wrong place, and I did check the Slide Bible but didn't see anything... anyway, thanks encrypti0n for the help.

Really? It's the second post in the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6846976&postcount=2
Sorry for not checking the second thread in that post, once again I apologize for wasting the 3 seconds it took you to read the thread title and the other 30 seconds it took for you to decide to throw your 2 cents in after I already apologized. Once again, thanks encrypti0n for your help. Hopefully we can consider this matter closed now, I made a mistake no need to repeatedly throw it in my face.
Isn't there a esprimg.img file flying around here that is a full factory espresso rom?
Edit: heres to me thinking the champ rom was a regular rom and not a esprimg.zip factory flash. >_>

Well I got my replacement from tmob for my mt3gs and now I have tried just about every thread I can and nothing gets rid of root. 3 weeks ago I was asking for help to get rooted and now that is a breeze but getting it back to factory is another story. I have looked and looked and literally tried all the posts that pertain to the espresso my touch 3gs. Not a real big deal since I have the replacement but who knows it would be nice to have it stock just so there isn't any problems. I even tried the bilbe and the threads that encrypti0n posted and well all I can find but I still have root. I asked for root and I got it

You have got to be kidding me. Obviously you either didn't search at all or you don't know how to use it. I did ONE search and found the exact thread with everything you need. I searched the ENTIRE slide section (not just this section), and found it sitting there on the first page of search results. The only search term I used was the word Unroot. Here it is you lazy bums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705345&highlight=UNROOT
Oh yeah, and I have used this method and it DOES work! I have unrooted 2 to be replaced already.

I guess I was right, you really didn't search or look at anything on your own. The same link I just posted is listed right here on the 2nd post in the Bible thread. Stop wasting other people's time and look for it on your own next time.

Wow so hostile with everything Well here is the long and the short of it. I tried this thread and all the others as well and when it came down to it I made a typo in one of the directories and didn't catch it until now. I wouldn't have posted and or asked without trying everything first. I don't like to bother people. Well at least it proves I am human and not a god like some people. Yes it worked well and yes it did restore to factory. Thanks for the effort..
Well either way, I am glad it at least worked for you in the end.

[Q] n00b here (g2 and mt4g)

Can anyone post the link to where I can get the my touch 4g rom.
i had it previously on here when I bought the phone and I HATE the g2 rom.
my touch is so much more advancesd and personalized.
I guess you mean this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=799903
1. Don't write "noob" in your title. People will ignore it. Write something useful instead to describe your issue.
2. This is the Hero forum and NOT the G2 forum. The phone your thinking about is called T-mobile G2 and the one this forum is about is G2 Touch/HTC Hero.
3. Post in the correct section. This is 99% NOT development related and should be in general...
4. Use the search function and Google before posting. I'm sure you can find this without having to bother other people.

I apologise
1. This is not development and should not be posted in a development section.
2. This is the wrong device area. This thread will find its way to the right place shortly, but will remain locked, given the fact the arguing will likely continue.
3. Nobody was rude. You were told this isn't the right place to find people that can help, and pointed to the correct forum.
4. This kind of thing is something you could work out by reading a few posts. You cannot run another device's ROM straight away on another device. You would likely need to port it.
Closed as explained in 2.

Its cool, it happens; though you'll see threads announcing that root has been achieved on the latest OTA, and it'll be between general, Q&A, and the actual root method in the development section.
Yea thanx! i just read the EVO 3D is in the same boat if not a tad bit worst on the lockdown scale! Soooo that may be motivation enough! lmao sure wish i could help and...the least i can offer is beta testing! :/
damn they beat! fre3vo! lol they have temp-root! but hey...its a start

Bootunlock

Hello , im going to buy the One x and are there going to bee a Unlock or S-off without the htcdev.com . i will not lose my warrinty .
No, pretty sure there will be no development done on the OneX at all. There are currently no threads in the Dev section talking about this topic, so I would encourage you not to bother using the search button to find any, you'll only be wasting your own time.
In fact, probably best not to bother buying this phone, if you were hoping for any cool ROMs or custom recovery etc.
Sorry.

now that a very sad news , so are you sure there will be no unlocked without losing warranty or are you just saying ? because if no unlock no buy
Well, I think what our Australian friend is suggesting is that you visit the development board SOUTH of this one.
Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week.
Or... until I'm banned.
I was kidding.
Everything I said in that post, do the opposite. Especially the bit about looking in the Dev section...
Ooops beaten. What John said

New to rooting. Please help.

Hello, I am new to the forums and would really appreciate if someone were to help me root my HTC EVO 4G.
I am running Android 2.3.5. If someone has a root for version 2.3.5, I would really like it if you included a link and instructions.
Thanks!
Seriously bro? Have you even looked into any info on this? Maybe a little Google action? There's a few posts in the sticky section about it but I won't include links, if you can't help yourself why would I want to.

I was just asking for help. I did do some Googling and found nothing for 2.3.5 and other things telling me to stuff that could possibly brick my phone if I messed up. I don't want to risk that. I could understand you not wanting to help me, but I would be nice if you linked me to a thread or something that could help me. Thanks anyway.

Well when tinkering with your phone, things can go wrong and you can end up bricked. Read, read, read, be sure you follow instructions to the dot, and most likely, I repeat MOST LIKELY you will be ok.
But it has to be your decision. Be sure you understand basic concepts, starting with ADB and so on.
If you have an specific question or doubt about a procedure, ask the question on the thread of such process, I don't think opening threads like this one will help much, the thread is the appropriate place to place a question, and it is the place were you most likely will get an answer, without being flamed.
Good luck
