Hi, I'm looking for a way to stream all pc audio to my android phone. The idea is to use the android phone as wireless headphones.
This would probably involve some sort of client server setup similar to Gmote, or what the winamp app does. However I only want audio, so that I can play Video on my TV and listen via wifi on my headphones through my android (HTC Desire).
I've searched the forums, and have only found a few similar questions but no solutions. Its my opinion that this would be an excellent app, if a developer would pick up on it.
I have looked at virtual audio cable as a possible solution - unfortunately I don't have the tech know-how to acheive this. Possibly the audio could be grabbed by VAC and input into Winamp (e.g.) and then streamed via winamp to my phone?
.... any ideas.

im also searching for an app like that. Ive been looking for that the whole web but didnt find anything, just other people aksing for the same thing. there are apps for iphone called Airphones and AudioIn that do exactly that. isnt anyone able to port that or something ? would be of so much use :/
Not sure but I believe the SE MW600 headphones can pair two devices simultaneously. Can anyone confirm? I can check in a couple of days...

Looking in to writing an one from the ground up. problem is I'll have to do a lot of studying to learn the languages.

@eKeith I have the SE MW600 headphones they can be used to pair up to 3 devices simultaneously (multipoint technology).
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
These are then just wireless headphones? The idea is to be able to use wired headphones wirelessly, by stalin audio over wifi to our phones.

I was also looking for something like this. Currently the Desire comes with a Bluetooth profile to do the opposite - that is direct all phone output to elsewhere e.g. laptop, but it'd be great for the other way around!
Thanks MasDroid. I have a pair also but not with me on my long weekend vacation...

OK, then you want to do more than "use the Android phone as wireless headphones" as per your first post. You want your phone to receive the audio in order to process it? If so, can you clarify? Sounds interesting and potentially useful.
Will VLC serve your purpose? You can setup a VLC http server on your PC and you can browse your PC files from your phone VLC app. Not sure but maybe, on the PC, you can direct all audio to a filestream. Anyone?

we are thinking of an app that streams whatever sound is coming from the pc to the android phone. me for example i control my pc with the phone via gremote when im laying on my bed. and because the cable of my wired headphones are too short i cannot listen to videos and movies without disturbing the ppl at night. so such "active" apps like the one with vlc and so on isn't really what (at least) im looking for. it should be passive and just stream the whole audio.
i hope u understand

Pretty sure gmote can stream music to your phone. There is a little check box to say weather it's phone controlling media player on your pc, or pc streaming media to your phone. Use it when I'm doing gardening so I have access to all 200Gb of my music.

I'm trying to find an app or a way to browse the music that is stored on my phone and then stream it to my htpc (Windows 7) and then play it on my surround.
I have figure out how to browse the music the htpc has on the phone with xbmc remote and gmote but that's not what i want. Bluetooth or Wifi should both be fine.
Also if i would like to stream pictures and videos too, it would be a bonus but not really important right now.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
You should be able to pair your phone with the htpc via Bluetooth at which point it should be available as an audio input device. This shouldn't require any third party drivers or anything, have you tried this yet?

hmmm ok, this is not what i'm looking for.
So here is the lay out:
1. Music on the phone
2. Phone connects to PC, preferably with WiFi but i will take BT if need be
3. PC is connected to Sound System
4. Phone streams music on the pc, sound comes out on the sound system connected on the PC
5. Selection of songs happens on the phone, next, forward, pause etc
6. Monitor on the pc is off the whole time
I also have a PS3 ... so instead of PC it could be that.
That's what's going on with my set up, all it does is play everything your phone speaker would through your computer speakers... right?
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
My way, it automatically connects to my phone without asking.
I play whatever music I want on my phone and my computer plays the sound
You can try and find third part software but for WiFi they only function as remotes

I want to control my samsung galaxy nexus via my pc but I dont need display I just need to use the keyboard and mouse.
Let me tell you why....
I currently have a spare monitor and I have connected my Samsung galaxy Nexus to it via an MHL adaptor but I would like to use my pc mouse and keyboard to do stuff on it and then just change back to pc when I want.
Anyone know any tools to do this?
Thanks
Bluetooth keyboard and mouse is the best option.
Try free AirDroid which lets you use many features of your phone including texting and managing apps via your browser on a PC as long as you're on the same network.

I had been using Droid VNC Server in the past, however it doesn't seem to support ICS. knoxbrder seems to be very close to having a working version for the Galaxy Nexus, you can take a look at this thread for some details.
Once this is running, you can run vncviewer on a Linux system, or download RealVNC for Windows and access your phone when it's on your WiFi network.

LMAO Are you going to hook your microwave up to a monitor as well? How about your toilet? Maybe you can get to the point where everything you own from phone, to coffee maker, to wrist watch has its own monitor. Clearly you need to get out more brah
I've found the remotely controllable phone-to-TV connection very useful. My old TV didn't have Pandora support so I used to hook up my X to it so I could listen via my sound system speakers. I now have a Google TV with a Pandora client, but with a dumb monitor you can also throw in Netflix and Amazon video to turn it into a smart TV. Or just turn the phone into a mini-desktop, it's already just a pocket computer.
i have been pretty disapointed with android options in this department.
i had veency running like a charm on my iphone, but nothing for android. and most of the vnc/rdp programes in market are not what they claim to be.
i have an hdmi dongle that uses android. and i want to control it with my note 2... which runs andorid. now there is plenty of aps to make the phone an input device for x86 operating systems but i cant find any for android. any help?
i want an app that can make the phone act as if it's a keyboard through bluetooth or internet... or even as a "remote desktop"
Try wifi mouse..playstore..or phonemypc..remote desktop

DroidMote Client and DroidMote Server should do the trick. I have 2 Android TV sticks myself, but I use a 2.4GHz air mouse.
I just ordered an HTC 10 last night from T-Mobile but I don't see mention of DLNA support anywhere and Verizon's page for DLNA on the 10 says it's not supported. This is a feature I use a LOT, can someone confirm if BubbleUPnP works? I don't care if it doesn't have native support but if Bubble doesn't work, I'm going to have to seriously think about whether I'm willing to give that feature up.
Thanks in advance

It even supports Apple AirPlay for streaming music natively.

Have you tried dlna connection to your samsung tv? Not mirricast connection because i have tried to my samsung tv can't connect through dlna connection.
Thanks
Same here HTC 10 nougat stock dlna to Samsung TV seem broken...
I've tried DNLA for streaming audio to my Sony TV and although there is about a 5 second delay in streaming audio, it works (this is on mm stock)
