SD Card Help - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm in a world of hurt and hoping someone has a solution for me!
I took my SD Card out of my phone & plugged it into my laptop. I then took all the files from my SD card and dragged them into a folder. Next I deleted those files from the SD card so I could use it for another purpose.
After I finished this process I got rid of what I had put on the SD card for the other purpose & dragged all the Android files from that temp folder back to my SD card.
Now my phone won't recognize my SD card. The card will not mount and when I boot my phone I get a message that says "blank SD card". When I click on that message it prompts me to reformat my SD card and warns me that everything on it will be lost.
So what I'm wondering is: can I reformat the card, plug it back into my laptop, drag the files back to the SD card and all will be well?
Or is there something else I need to do?
Or am I screwed?
I even tried a CWM restore...but the restore is on the SD card so that obviously isn't an option.
At any rate, I really need some help here and I'm hoping someone can provide some guidance and direction for me.
Thanks!

Yes, format the card inside the phone then put everything back on it.

Problems with my Desire

I have a stock Desire - on Orange ( UK ) network. All has been fine, but it suddenly stopped reading my SD card today - which has important work photos.
Why would it have done this and any way to fix it?
cheers all
First you need to find out whether the problem is your phone or your sd card.
Can you plug your sd card into your computer? If you can, copy the files from it and format the sd card and then copy back.
make sure that it is formated to FAT32
If you dont have a computer to do this, I reccomend that you go the settings and then SD card and unmount and remount your sd card and see if that helps.
Failing that, I would look and see if there is anything bent or blocking the sd terminals.
Let me know how it goes.
Ps.. I assume you have already done the obvious and restarted your phone.

Damaged SD Card

I managed to get CyanogenMod 7 RC2 up and running. I noticed that I had a lot of junk on my SD card so I thought that I could back it up and then wipe it because most/all of the useful stuff was on the internal memory of the DHD. But, for some reason, my phone is telling me that my SD card is damaged.
I don't think that there is anything wrong with the SD card because I just did a copy/paste thing to back it up. Also, I've put in another SD card and it also says that it's damaged. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Run fix_permissions and reboot

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think I can do that. I can't put that on my SD card because there if I try to connect it with the computer, I can't mount the SD card or turn on the usb sharing thing. I'll be able to reformat the SD card soon because I'm borrowing a friend's micro sd card to sd card converter.
I tried Fix Permissions by going into recovery and advanced options, but that didn't work =/
Also, I remember now that I uninstalled "Goldcard Helper" because it said it was downloaded to my SD card so I thought that I could uninstall it and be able to clean up my SD card completely. Maybe that had some effect on this?
Got my friend's converter so now I can plug the micro SD directly into my computer. Oddly enough, it said I had to format it before I could use it which is essentially what my phone was telling me to do too.
I'll wipe it then see if it works
Perfect! I think it is working completely now! One last question of what I should do now that it's working. Can I plug it in, restore a few pictures I had, and just let Android take over from there? It's completely blank on the SD card so will Android know what to do with it?

Need to unroot

I have a big problem and am wondering if anyone can help me. My evo won't read my sd card. Is there a way I can unroot without using my sd card?
Is it the evo or is it the SD card?
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on Android OS. We now have CyanogenMod.
It's definitely the microsd card. I put the microsd card into the sdcard adapter and put it into my laptops memory slot and could open it up. I need to unroot it to take it back to the sprint store to get a new one.

If it's "definitely the microSD card" then why would you need to unroot your EVO? Sprint is not going to give you a new EVO for an SD card problem. If anything, they will simply exchange the SD card. Of course, I'm only speculating. Anyway, if you're certain it is the SD card and can read it from your laptop, how about copying the contents of the card onto your laptop and then repartition and reformat it via your laptop. Afterwards, copy the contents back to your SD card, reinsert it in your EVO and reboot.
sorry meant to say definitely not the sd card.
No problem.......Still, I would copy the contents of the card to the laptop and then repartition and reformat it. Afterwards, I would copy the files back to the card and reboot the EVO. Also, connect your device to your laptop, boot into recovery, select the MS-USB option and see if you can see the card from your laptop. If you can, download the SECOND file from this link -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php? t=884060 -- copy it to your SD card and flash it from within recovery.

major problem with SD Card

I am getting an error when my phone tries to scan my external sd card. It says "preparing SD Card" for a second or two, but then it says "Blank SD Card". I looked this problem up on other threads, however, I dont think it would be necessary for me to format it. This is because one out of every 20 or so times it scans the SD card it actually picks it up and gives me the details about the card (space, etc.). But it then says "removed SD card". I am confused if this is a problem with the SD card itself, or if it is a problem with my phone's SD card slot. Any help would be appreciated because almost all of my info is on the card (contacts, documents, school stuff) Thanks in advance!!

Do you have another reader for the card? If so, pull the data, format through Windows and then put the data back on. (When I had issues it was something about permissions last time...)

I tried to do that and it wont work because on my comp it says that it did not recognize my phone. I reinstalled the drivers and it still wouldnt work. It somehow read the sd card right now (the phone did), so im trying to do some data backup and such if the problem persists, which im sure it will
He meant an external card reader. You would take the card out of the phone. Do that copy it all over to desktop. Format the card. Put the stuff back

If you're having MicroSD card issues and USB port issues I wonder if you've got other things going on.
How long has the phone not been recognized on the PC?
And did you try cleaning the MicroUSB port? It may still charge but not contact the data connectors.
