I'm using MIUI at the moment, and I heard DHD was the only device which doesnt show [My Own Number] in the settings menu; which is the problem i have right now. Does anyone else have the same problem as me?
hope MIUI fixes this soon.
I don't use MIUI, so I wouldn't know, but I just rung my housephone, copied my numbed, and added myself as a contact. I know I can just check up on it in the setting but if I'm honest I can't be bothered, much easier having yourself as a contact.

Then, as a generalised statement (such that you made), you heard wrong.
The DHD DOES, as a generalisation, show your own number in the "My Number" option in "Settings" for all but a few select networks and maybe ROM's.
I'm sorry you happen to be in the minority who's particular ROM / Network etc. doesn't show this info but like I said, for most people it does and is NOT an issue with the HTC Desire HD.
Would I be right then in thinking that you mean to say this is an issue with MIUI ROM's??

Yes, I was specifically talking about MIUI on DesireHD. I wasn't saying the device itself had a glitch.

This is one of my biggest disappointments on the 6700's and win mobile devices in general WinMobile5 in particular.
In northern Illinois even if you are calling within your area code, you need to dial the area code.
Being as I dial most of my clients only once from my cell, I don't want them all to be added to my contacts. And since I am calling while driving a truck and looking at a piece of paper dialing on the screen. I WANT TO HAVE A PREPEND OPTION for my area code (unless I specificly dial a different one).
Most $39 phones have this option, and most palm phones have this option.
It can't be that hard to program it (can it?).
After doing much searching, and not getting much closer, it seems (per MS website http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/pocketpc/useyourphone.mspx#settings ) there may be a phone setting that is not enabled that would enable "dialing rules".
These would be in the same area of settings as network time synch, and voicemail notification, etc..
Does anyone know of any registry edits to show *all* phone settings?
There are a few listed around here and on other forums (mostly the same 'hacks' posted over again all over the place).
I have tried all I've found, and while they have enabled what they say, this isn't included (so far).
What I'm looking for is specificly "dialing rules".
Yes, I know they are listed in network settings, but these do not affect voice dialing.
Anyone have any ideas...
Anyone else wish this worked...
Can anybody help me out here?
hacks, freeware, commercial, black magic rituals, anything???
(I have searched and searched and searched...)
My appologies in advance if it is not, but is this in the right forum??
I really thought I would find some enlightenment here.
fixed dialing
I do believe on the T-mobile they call it fixed dialing

WM5 Fixed Dialing
I was going though WM5's menu on HTC TytN and saw the Fixed Dialing under the Start>Settings>Personal>Phone>More
Fixed Dialing is the last option under the More Tab if this is what your are looking for.

I thought about using this feature, but I could not find how to change its options (such as "number patterns"). Do anyone know how to use it ?
Not sure if this is the one:
Start > Setting > Connections > Connections > Advanced > "Dialing Rules"
Let me know if this work for you.
I believe the O2 dial wizard has this (sort of) functionality. You could use the Calling Card function to, instead of storing calling card prefixes, store the area code for the areas that you are in. Then, when you've entered the number for the person you want to call, you press the button with the Magic Wand and Handset in the Phone program, and it prefixes your number with the prefix previously defined.
You might also consider looking at the MyPrefixDial program (freeware - see http://www.freewareppc.com/communication/myprefixdial.shtml), although I think this only works with predefined contacts....

THIS IS THE MOST LIKELY PLACE - however on the xv6700 (apache on Verizon) this option is not there! (imagine that) anyone know how to get this option to show, so I could play with it?

While it looks like it could be the right place - No this is for network connections (i.e. internet, or VPN) only not for voice dialing options.
Thanks for trying though.

anyone know anything new?
anyone have any new thoughts on this?
Does any other wm5 or wm6 device have anything like what I'm looking for?
I am just giving a bump, I really wish there was a way to do this...
Any clues out there?
Do any win mobile phones that you know of offer dialing rules??
well over 1000 views and no one has any solutions, or even hints at something that may help?
Wow, I thought with all the developing going on here this should be stupid simple, guess not.
Maybe, it's not that important to everyone because they don't have to dial local area codes.
You all will have to eventually you know, it may be months, or years, but eventually everyone will have to.
Ah well, thanks for looking anyway.

Hi all,
Since I installed wm 6.5 (Rom Officiel), the option to answer phone automatically doesn't work anymore .
i'm sorry of that, because i'm a biker and it's very useful.
A hard reset (as asked by the service support) did not change anything.
they ask me now to return the device which seems to be a hardware problem no ?
Are you involved of that problem? any idea to solve it without sending it?
Thanks and Best regards from France
Humm !
I'm surprised that this fonction doesn't interest more people; because after quick investigation, i'm not alone with that problem using wm 6.5 .
Is that happen only with the french version?
I have the same problem with diamond 2 and wm 6.5. Did you find any solution?

Same problem here. Updated using UK Vodafone upgrade and now Auto Pickup cannot be selected.
Can anyone help as this is a big problem. If you have to touch your phone to answer a call while you are driving and you get caught, you are in big trouble.
Could someone check their registry
HKCU\ControlPanel\AutoPickUp
and tell us exactly what is in there. Mine is empty and I think this might be part of the problem.
Thanks

I just checked and mine is blank too...on a US-model T-mobile TP2 with the stock 6.1 ROM. I've never used the function before though, so I can't really say whether it is/was available to me...I'm not even sure where the option to use that is
You guys might want to check out the app in THIS thread, it supposedly makes it easy to access the auto-answer, so it might (...or might not) serve as a work-around for you
EDIT: I just found the toggle for auto-answer in the phone settings...and even though I have that registry entry blank like the rest of you, I still have the option of chosing auto-answer in the phone settings.
Sorry if you did this but can you go back to the setting and make sure it stayed "ticked". What happens on mine is that I tick the box and it shows a tick but if you come out of setup then go back in the tick has gone.

Hey man, sorry about that, I just missed it when you asked that the first time
I just now double-checked, and yes, the tick mark does persist in the Automatic Pickup box in phone settings, even through a soft-reset.
But...even when the tick mark is there, no value appears in the registry entry you mentioned and...it still doesn't work I tried it with the auto-answer interval set at 0, 1, and 2 seconds, and it never answered my test calls.
So...6.1 doesn't work any better, 6.5 is just more honest with you by not letting the setting appear like it's working
p.s. feel free to PM me if you ever need feedback from me and haven't heard anything in a day or two...probably means it just got lost in the shuffle on my end.

Hi,
after few experiments with some cooked Rom (Energy, Leo, Athine) I have problem(ehm, ) with weather and my current position which is always presented only with text "My location" and not with the name of location(as previously, but the data are correct for my location).
I tried Task29(format my TP2), few hard resets - but nothing positive, always My location with any ROM/version also with versions which I have before and they showed correct location name.
What could be wrong ?
Thx.
PS.:
Always:
- 3G is disabled
- AGPRS is ON
- GPS help data are downloaded
- I use radio 4.49.25.91
I have exactly the same problem, see my posts here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6089493&postcount=563 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6109534&postcount=565. It seems to be a problem with O2 Slovakia, if there is nobody else who has such a problem.
Interesting is that this function was approximately a 1-2 weeks before OK.
So we can think that O2 disabled lately some localization function and so we can only whistle ?
It seems that something happens at Easter, because before Easter it was working without problem. I already sent a question to O2 Slovakia but till now no response, maybe you should do it also so I'm not alone with such question
OK, I do it too
I asked HTC support for this problem and here is the response:
Dear Daniel, Thank you for contacting us in regards to weather updates, I can help you with that. If there is a set point at which the updates began to stop working it would suggest that something has changed witht he location service in your area. It may be that your network have not correctly updated the time with Daylight Savings and this is causing a conflict with the application. Are you able to test with a different network SIM card in the device? I trust that this resolves your query, please do not hesitate to contact us again if required. Thank you for contacting HTC. Best regards, Mike B HTC
So I have possibility to try it only with T-Mobile sim card but the result was still the same :-( and if there is a problem with DST on GSM operator side I don't know how can I check it.
Your text was very good at the beginning response from HTC, but the next text ... .
I can check it with Orange SIM through weekend and we will see result, although what it will be valid if I'm O2 user ? D)
I think this isn't related to some particular provider. I've got the same problem since a few weeks, not sure if it's since Easter. Weather data doesn't update on 'My location', and what should be the place where I am at this very moment, shows only 'My location'. I'm here in the netherlands, provider is Hi (part of KPN Mobile), but on local fora the issue is also known with other providers!
So what the h**k is going on?

For me it was a wrong APN setting that suddenly changed??? So check you're APN settings and see if it helps
Hm, so it's not my case-I checked it and my APN is set correctly but "My location" stay always here
I think if it was set wrong so I would have still had no internet access with another apps, no ?
I think that only way is to create some pressure on HTC by opening the case on their support. So everybody who has such a problem should contact HTC support. Then they maybe do something with this issue.
Nothing happens ..... Still only "My Location"

I had an old or backup APN server set. I had internet etc but my location didn't work.
My brother had the same issues with his HD2. His APN also suddenly changed to an old APN. And because you are all from Slovakia you could check of these settings changed and if you're provider has an alternative apn.
are htc geo service and cll services running. You can check with dotfred taskmanager
Yes both services running ... :-(
Seriously Try This
I haven't heard anyone mention flashing their radio on their phone. Seems like you should try this. It take 5 min or less, and doesn't alter your phone in any other way. Below is a link.
If you search for this MY Location topic, you would find that most people were able to resolve this same problem by trying a few different radio's and seeing what happens.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549939
OK so I flashed new radio -> 4.49.25.77 and I can say only 2 things:
lower battery drain or better phone life with the current ROM (EVO 9.1) (it's on you-how you taking it )
with weather is nothing happens, it's same as with "My location" 4ever
So what's next ?
Well, I found a solution. Mentioned here a few posts above, I changed the APN portalmmm to Internet (provider here= KPN/Hi). Nothing happened. Then I deleted the text, so nothing is filled in at APN. And then 'My location' worked again.
Another tip at Tweakers.Net (Dutch forum): disable HDSAP
I tried it and:
without APN point I can't connect to internet=no weather update, which is logical
I disable HDSAP always after flashing ROM and also no change
I tried 2 different radios for my TOPAZ but it didn't resolve the problem with the showing only "My Location" :-(
Firstly, Hi, Just got this forum recomended by a friend and it looks great, glad I joined.
secondly, all answer's need to be in plain English cos I am completely new to any for of electronic engineering etc etc.
So, On to my Q.
I brought a Wildfire back in June for £100 as it had been superceded by a new model, it was sold through O2 and was locked. I had it unlocked by a friendly shop for £20.
I returned to Egypt (I teach Scuba in Sharm el Sheikh) and started using the phone, really good, I like it.
Then my network starts selling internet packages (basically for less than £3 a month I can access the net whenever I like as long as I dont kick the arse out of it).
So I registered and paid my cash.........
When I click on the Connect to the Internet button it goes to "Turning On" but does nothing else.
I have asked my mobile network and they say it is a software problem caused by the illegal unlocking.....
HELP!!!
Regards
Stevie H
Hi and welcome. I will try and help the best I can but my knowledge is limited and others may help better if I can't.
I very much doubt this is a software issue but more of an vpn or data settings issue. Now my friend once had pay as you go and couldn't connect to internet due to his vpn or data connection values/settings not being set for his network. It was a long time ago so can't remember exactly what we did but it involved googling his network providers vpn settings and manually putting values into his phone settings. I hope and think this issue is easily solvable for you.

It's not software problem....u just enter settings manually goto settings-->wireless and connection-->mobile network-->access point and see it is ticked at ur service provider not,if not then tick that...hope so it will work...

Thanks for the reply, but the settings are all as they should be, I had the guy at Mobinil check em for me and also googled them to check myself and all is good on that front.
I emailed HTC about my problem, complete with model and serial numbers etc - it was them that said the "illegal" unlocking had caused the problem

What exactly do you mean by "click on the Connect to the Internet button"?
It may be that my language on my phone is set to Swedish and it's different from your's, but I don't understand what you mean by that. Are you talking about the checkbox for Settings - Wireless & network - Mobile network?
My experience is that you have a problem with the settings for Mobile networks (roaming, networks, APNs) just like slymobi and Ankurcul already told you. But if you've made sure they are correct it seems strange...
It is really strange bt I don't think so its illegal unlocking problem...

Hi everyone,
I seem to be facing a problem that I haven't found discussed here with my phone.
Following a successful upgrade to Slimbean 4.2.2 build 6 OFFICIAL, everything seems to be working correctly with my Tmobile UK SIM card and I can make or receive calls and texts, I can read the IMEI reference but for some reason my phone number is not displayed anymore in the "about phone" section in Settings or if I use an app like "SIM Card" to read the details of the SIM. I get instead the message "unknown number"
I am not sure if this is a problem or not, so I would like to know if anyone can think of any potential limitation due to this issue.
On top of this, I am about to move abroad and was going to request a code from Tmobile to unlock the phone as I assumed the phone was locked to their network, but when I tried a THREE SIM card, the card was actually accepted and I connected to that network but again the phone number is not displayed in the settings section...
Has anybody seen or heard a similar issue?
I installed a fresh Slimbean ROM from scratch as I was previously running a completely different ROM and I assume it was successful as everything seems to be working.
The only issues I could find in the forum were related to not being able to retrieve the IMEI number after the upgrade, but nothing about the phone number itself.
I would be very grateful if anyone could offer any help or suggestion.
Thank you in advance.
David.
I have noticed the same thing on the official CM 10.1 builds (with both Three UK and giffgaff SIMs), I suspect it is an issue but it's not a real bother to me all it means that any app that auto detects your phone number (eg hangouts) will just ask for it during initial setup instead.
Again the same for the IMEI sometimes this doesn't show up but it does most of the time.

Thanks Hydo1,
I have found a couple of things yesterday.
First, I have been able to add the number manually through the settings menu in the dial pad and it now shows in the "about" section.
Second, I have found out that although my voicemail is setup and active when I call the Tmobile services, it doesn't actually work anymore and I can only guess it is due to this issue as it was working before...
I'll try again once I have switched to a new network abroad...
