I had changed to 000-88 for MobileOperator but would like to change back to Singtel for my HD7.
If you're willing to check for me here's the location in the registry:
HKLM/System/Platform/DeviceTargetingInfo/MobileOperator
Could you also help me to check the values for
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/DeviceReg
"PortalUrlProd"
"PortalURlInt"
Thanks a million.
have a look at this site

I wonder if someone can help please, I have already seen the answer to my question in either this or the MTEKK forum, but for the life of me can't find the post again.
I would like to Change the factory default operator settings that come pre-installed within the Auto-configurator App on the Atom. I read somewhere that it can store upto 18 different operator settings but these can be changed somehow. I bought the Atom in Thailand but work in Saudi so all the SE Asian operators are not really required.
Thanks.....
I have an MDA Pro which was obtained from T-Mobile Germany. I am in USA and just installed latest iMate ROM. All is well but I would rather use the QWERTZ layout so I know when I use a key I get the letter shown. I thought this might only be a registry change. Anyone know for sure? Thanks.
QWERTZ: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty put in decimal 66567
I tried this, but my HW keyboard no change to QWERTZ, where is problem?
When I look in registry after soft-reset I see value Locale and data 0407?! :-(
Would you try registry setting as follows,
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]
"Layout"=dword:10407
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Active"="00000407"
I'm using T-Mobile MDA Pro with Germany keyboard and latest WWE rom.
best regards,
riki0081 from Japan.
I did a search before asking and couldn't find anything (at least in the Hermes forums)...
My phone displays "UMTS Cingular"... is there a way to change it to say something else?
Hi
A small change in the registry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RIL\OperatorNames
Add a string with your operators operatorcode in the Name field, and whatever you like in the String field.
Thanks for that
thanks also for the excellent info but how do u find out the operatorcode of my operator?
im on vodafone uk and my phone displays UMTS vodafone UK.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Andy..
as an addendum to your advice... I don't have a " HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RIL\OperatorNames" in my registry
Thank you,
nice tweak.., for all T-Mobile Germany users operatorcode is 26201
or look here http://www.m-99.co.uk/Mobile_Phone_...ork_Codes/service_provider_network_codes.html

Are you sure? Which prog did you use for browsing the registry?
pronor
I have tried two reg editors to be sure - Mobile reg editor I have found to never have an issue...
In my HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RIL\ directory I have APIInfo and lots of folders numbered 0 - 128
If I go up to my HKLM\comm\cellular\ril\eons.cache\ I have an OPL and a PNN dir
Not sure if that could be it ( using WM6 )
Same here, I want to change that and also do not have a " HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RIL\OperatorNames" in my registry. I am using WM6 also.
@rgreenpc and darktiger
You have to create a new directory "OperatorNames" for example using totalcommander.
still not quite right...
The registry entry successfully changes the Operator Name but the "UMTS " string is still inserted before the new operator name
Is there a way to stop this UMTS string from appearing?
Many thanks,
caruthers
you have to change \HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\
LongnamePrefix=UMTS
here can you write whatever you want eg. 3G
the Key have to set to 1
Enable3GLongNamePrefix=1

I can confirm that this way works. I did this a while back and have had no issues.
That's great - it works perfectly
Many thanks Mosquito and maevro
It used to work for me, and I see the name I have chosen for like 5 secs, but then it switches back to AT&T. Is there something else?
yeah, i tried 3 diff reg editors, phm, ceregedit and one other, never got it to stick once. thats the carrier name. i have however managed to change the 3G name.
I am now able to send a text message to an email address!!
works for at&t.
---- save attachment and import into registry ----
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Inbox\Settings]
"AllowSMStoSMTPConcatenation"=dword:00000001
"AllowSMStoSMTPAddress"=dword:00000001
"SMStoSMTPShortCode"="121"
---- or save above text to "sms to email.txt" and import to registry ----
or....
manually add registry entries listed above
"121" is at&t sms to smtp gateway
it is different for each carrier
softbank in Japan settings?

Anybody know if this works for Japanese carriers? If so, what is the gateway?
Interesting find! I don't text message myself but...
Here's a cab I put together for you kenlester.
Could be a handy tool to have, all I need to know is how do I get it to work on a Orange tytn
Just tried it...looks like it was working because i could now select e-mail addresses but after sending them it failed.
After a reboot I could no longer send them it was giving me the same error msg as before
anyone got any ideas why it doesn't....use to work with my previous att rom
This seems to work on some ROMs but not others. The WM 6.1 roms that were before the one that came out this month (19209) it worked on. Any ideas?
Works great for me thanks for the find..
i can't modify that keys in wm6.1 on htc touch diamond. The mobile registry let me do that modifies but after the reboot they are not saved.. what to do? thanks
You should post that in the diamond forum, not the hermes.
Looks like kewl trick. But excuse my question, why Dr. Puttingham wrap it on a cab with at&t label? I mean, is it operator-specific (at&t)? Or 8525 specific, not general hermes?

as it says in the first post, every carrier is different.
Dear XDA-Developer Forum Community:
I have a HTC Touch Pro2 Device I bought sometime back. However, I am having a problem with the Current Operator Name not displaying the correct name. Please do allow me to explain below:
The Service Provider Name found at [HKL\Comm\Cellular\RIL\EONS.cache\spn] Service Provider Name = Airtel KE; is correct.
However, the Current Operator Name found at [HKLM\System\State\Phone] Current Operator Name = CELTEL; is not correct.
Further, the Carrier Name found at [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\RIL] CarrierName = Airtel KE is correct.
I would like to request you all who are familiar with this, to assist me with the details on how to edit and enable the registry so as the Current Operator Name is set to show the actual and correct Service Provider Name and Carrier Name.
I will appreciate your detailed response very much.
Regards,
Paul.
Are you having problems editing the registry...? It seems like you've done a fair amount of research on what to edit, perhaps HKLM\System\State\Phone isn't edit-able...?
