Is there anyway to get rid of how the screen bounces from left to right? Its really annoying...Also when you slide down the notification bar is there anyway to have a on off switch there for 3g & all background data? Also, is there anyway to get the battery life of a CM7 mod to that of stock rom?
BTW is it just me or is the CM 7 mod (im using the destroyer v2 version of CM7) much faster than stock rom or in my case Im using the Spring Lovers rom? Does changing the profiles in the CPU settings change anything like going from ondemand which I am on now to performance? It seems that the sprint lovers battery lasts much longer that is currently my only downside for this mod...
You should have an app anim mod or something that will edit the screen transitions, but it can be tricky to use.
I think you can just open the spare parts app and change transition animations to off. That should do it.
For the 3g data toggle, go to menu>settings>CM Settings>Interface>Notification Widgets. From there you can put where ever toggles you want in there.
Most people feel like AOSP ROMs are a little faster just b/c they have less crap in them compared to Sense ROMs. That's why they're only 60-80mb instead of 150+.
You can play with the governors in CPU settings and see which one works for you. I think conservative or OnDemand are the way to go, depends on how they work for you.
When switching from Sense to AOSP, you need to wipe battery stats. Charge the phone until it's full, unplug it and turn it off. charge it while it's off until the green light comes back on and unplug it again. Do that 10 times. Then go into recovery and wipe battery stats. That should get you more battery life.
Here are some other tips:

If those don't work, try the tiamat Kernel. Should be able to squeeze 20hrs out of the battery on light/moderate use.
If you're talking about the scrolling on the launcher, go into the launcher's settings and turn elastic scrolling off (or change it to 0 if elasticity is a numeric option).
Destroyer has bounce transitions. I think that's what he's talking about.
i turned mine off by using menu>setting>display>animation then selected "some animations" hat turned the annoying screen flip off.
Yes the bounce transitions! They hurt my head!

So everyone has read the article about how changing the colour of the screen can save up to 50%. Basically we need like mono colour theme. So what I've done is flash setenza's SETROM as it's black like themed plus my wallpaper is pure black, my Widgets are in a shade of black and I'm using prolauncher which has a lot of black too. Now so far my battery drain is pretty good. Before is was running 64% screen usage now it's 54% I'm yet to test it on a full battery charge coming from a reboot. Also setenza issued a kernel zip for the processor and voltage which seems to working well. Also not using oc uc app seems to be better than using it, there is no need to even overclock it just give about 2mflops more

Cleaning Services starting up would be a good way to save battery too.
Some Apps can do that, but it need R/W access to /system, and most of them are just killing services after os started.
Anyone can point me out a way to edit services and apk startup by recovery mode or adb shell?
And then there is Locale, and Juicedefender.
Good point! I think I'm gonna uninstall all the apps that I rarely use. We have titanium backup so when needed reinstall the app. Until of course we ever get somekind of unlocked bootlaloader.

Battery usage/average based on SysFS battery output: lowest to highest
Code:
Screen off (standby): 117mA
Screen home screen / brightness off: 172 mA
Screen home screen / brightness med: 196 mA
Screen home screen / brightness full: 232 mA
Normal usage, auto brightness: 200-240mA
Screen 100% red: 244 mA
Screen 100% green: 302 mA
Screen brightness off / CPU 100% load: 305 mA
Screen 100% blue: 354 mA
Screen 100% white: 476 mA
My phone lasts about 3 days depending on usage (65-75 hrs).
My Display usage (according to menu) usually is on the range of 2-5%
Normal battery drain in the range of 175-250mA at average brightness and usage.
Making it darker than I already have, maybe I could squeeze out 25mA (50mA feels impossible).
I would guesstimate I could gain another 30-60min, if I'm very lucky.

Task killed in Froyo?????
Seemed to me that Android team succeded in avoiding people to use task killers in Froyo...
Is that still possible to make the mistake to use a tsk killer?
By the way, how did you get your battery usage in your phone? are they general stats or did you getthat by an application?
I googled "sysfs" but cannot understand what this is.

Ohh. Sorry.
Unneccessary tasks/apps killed.
Good call! I Google in black on my phone at bGoog.com to make my battery last longer too...
Hello!
I have the flashed the cm7 and my status bar is quite buggy.I can say that my stock's rom status bar was smoother...Is there anywhere another status bar i can try?
I'm sure there is no way to edit the status bar without first modifying the ROM. So, the only way would be to modify the ROM files.
Anyway, that is just from my knowledge. There might be another, easier way, but I don't know of it.
And, I think it might just be the Wildfire. I have looked at the Wildfire S, Desire etc (Higher GPU, CPU etc) And they are exceptionally smooth. Even my stock bar wasn't very smooth.
Also. CM7 has the power control in the notification bar, so that might contribute to it...
I'm now on CM7.1.0.1 Gingerbread 2.3.7. Wildfire (not Wildfire S)
My statusbar also use to be very laggy, sometimes even freezing at a point for a second and then going all the way down. '
My statusbars is now very smooth, just as smooth as the stock software, if not more...
This is how I did it, I experimented with different settings.
Go to Settings-> Performance-> Tick: Use 16bit Transparency
(you could also disable surface dithering, and it would make a difference but it makes gradients look reeeeally bad...)
THEN
Go to Settings-> Interface-> Notification power widget-> (read below)
You could disable it entirely, which would make it smoother, or just enable as little widgets as possible, I only have the music controls and the flashlight. Furthermore, tick 'hide indicator' and 'hide scrollbar' then go back to 'Interface' then tick 'Compact carrier label'. It also makes it smoother and looks better anyway.
After this reboot your phone. It should be noted that my phone is overclocked to 245mhz min and 691mhz max with the 'ondemand governer' My battery lasts 1-1.5 days on this setting which is enough for me.
Also some of the settings I mentioned weren't in previous versions of CM, so flash the newest one if their not there.
I hope this helps.
The default battery status is ugly as hell. Its displayed as an icon.. How can i just have the text like in AOKP? (85%, 60%, 10%, etc..)
I have checked in the battery option and got nothing displayed. Only help.
The build i have is the one from Koush in CWM.
I dont want a widget.. I would like to have it displayed on the lock screen, and in the top right corner.
Thanks.
You can always check in the themes and apps thread... there are some up top just make sure its ICS and not Jelly Bean lol

Stock Android doesn't have a battery percentage option. You can have a graphical battery and that's it. You'll have to flash a mod to get it (like most customizations).
I was super stoked to get battery % back in the day, but now I realize why its pretty much unnecessary. Battery drain is so variable on a phone based on what you're doing at that time, your network, running apps, etc. that its not a linear drain (just look at your battery stats at the end of the day). So a battery % really doesn't give you a good idea of how long your phone will be lasting from that point. I found with a battery % mod I spent more time worrying about the % and turning on the screen to check it, that my battery life would be longer if I just had a bar displayed.
Hi guys
I recently rooted my device and flashed Alliance Rom, and Perseus alpha 35. I was experiencing a small amount of lag before this when swiping around the screens but nothing bad. Now I am overclocked to 1.8ghz, and have the GPU at 773, and I experience a HUGE amount of lag for about 15 seconds after a turn the screen on. After that i get short bursts of random lag. Its almost like its not scaling up fast enough or something. After a few swipes it starts to get smooth but if it goes back to the lockscreen the same happens again. I am using widget locker so could be something to do with that. I have already wiped cache and devlik.
What am i doing wrong I just want my note to screem round the screens like everyone elses
I am currently running a custom ROM instead of TW on my S3. I have noticed that my battery use just takes a dive off a cliff when the screen is in use. I thought AMOLED was a bit more efficient. I try to run with just a black wallpaper and usually enable dark themes on my ROM but the very little screen on time still just kills my battery. I can leave the phone on with wifi running for hours and it will go for a while but the screen just kills the battery. Does the screen color temp help? I tried warm and cool settings and such. Is it this way with Touchwiz also? Overall, the battery lasts me over a day because I am not on my phone 24/7 but the rapid depletion with little bits of screen on time is weird. Is this a kernel issue? BTW I run brightness widget and leave it on 0%. I also use LCD screen filter although that doesn't actually make the backscreen light dimmer as it just places an overlay to make the screen appear dimmer.
Thanks for any recommendations ya'll can make.
Update: Lux allows me to drop the brightness down below Brightness widgets' 0%. This should help out.
2 things.
1 is your device overclocked?
2 and the fact that you are on a custom ROM causes battery issues due to some improper optimizations.

1. Not overclocked
2. I can see where that could be.
Thanks.
