I like the optical joystick on the incredible only for waking the screen. Using it as a text selection medium causes problems when I'm in a lit room and using Swype, I was wondering if theres a kernel mod or something possible to disable it's abilities as a joystick and have it only as a button to wake the phone (essentially emulating the iPhone home button)

Hey guys,
I have a HTC Desire HD. To turn the screen on and off, i always have to use the power button.
Thats on the top, and its getting annoying seeing i have a phone case with soft rubber, and pressing it isn't easy.
Im also using the HTC Sense 3.0 Lock Screen. Apart from the cool ring, it shows the incoming messages
There are 2 apps i am aware of on the market, each with pro's and conns
One called AnyUnlock
- This lets you use the Volume key to unlock, but it also disables the pattern unlock.
Tap tap app
- This lets you stroke over you proximity sensor twice to unlock, but it drains power with the sensor on all the time. But this program still enables the pattern unlock.
I would like one that you can just use the volume key, but also makes you use the pattern.
Thankyou
Michael.

I use a widget from SwitchPro to lock the screen, it sits in top right corner and turns the screen off as if you pressed the power button.
As it mimics the power button it allows you to use the patterns and lock screen as normal.
While it doesn't solve your problem completely it does cut the power button presses down by half.
Im also on 3.0 LS and I havnt had any issues using the widget and the LS together.
How do I get widgets from anywhere else then HTC?
Dw I've figured it out

hi, is there any way to wake-up screen without home key, power key and volume key, i know about few apps which wakes up using sensor, but it's not for me, it drains battery too much, i want something like waking up phone with capacitive touch keys, or swiping them, is it possible to change key 172 which is home button to a menu key for waking up? in system/usr/keylayout/ ? Please help, any other options would be nice too, i have enabled softkeys, but sadly they don't wake-up screen.
searching for same..any solution..??
Hi guys,
I have Sixaxis and it works fine in-game, but what I want know is if it's possible to bind the menu touch buttons to a button on the controller. For example in Dead Trigger I can open the menu with the pause button, but I can't close the menu without touching the screen. It's the same with Shadowgun: Deadzone, at the end of the round no button press will exit that game so I have to use the touchscreen.
If you look at the photo it's the menu buttons at the bottom that I mean. In no game does the controller interact with the menu buttons.
This is probably the weirdest question asked but here's my scenario
I work part time at samsung store. My shift starts in the morning when we open. Naturally, we have to turn on all the TV's so i use my HTC's IR blaster (Range is amazing) to turn on all the TV's
What i want: an app (tried searching if it exists. no success) which can make the volume buttons function as if the screen is pressed in that particular point, when app running on background
I.E, if i press volume down, it performs the action as if the top right hand side of my phone is being pressed by my finger (Acts like a mouse i guess?)
The reason i want this is because the IR app i use has the buttons really close to each other, i end up pressing other buttons making the TV do different stuff (My fingers are chunky) and also this method would be very easy as i need to point my phone and press the physical button instead of constantly locating the button (Physical buttons are always awesome)
Maybe assign the volume up as if the left corner of my phone is being pressed, where the mute button is
Please tell me if an app exists or if i'm talking complete nonsense:silly:
If it doesnt make sense, read through again or ask me for a brief explaination. THanks:laugh:
So I picked up a Play to put emulators on it and basically turn it into a portable gaming system. It's awesome (aside from the abysmal internal storage limiting what apps I can install), and I've tweaked it a bit so the home key doesn't wake it and the volume keys are swapped since I exclusively use it in portrait mode. As it turns on when I slide it open, is there a way to turn it off when I slide it closed? I know I can just hit the power button, but it'd be a great little feature if I could get it to work like that.
