You you sending long messages? If so, enable the message split option. Or you could re-flash the rom.

Did you try flashing a Sense ROM (After backing up CM7), sending some messages, then restoring CM?

No but I'm thinking of just starting from scratch also can I do the GPS fix on a sense ROM and then do cm7 all over or do you have to go back from a nand?

No I don't think you have to. I have never tried it that way though.

Sms issues

For some reason my messages keep deleting themselves for no apparent reason. I do not use handcent or any other secondary messaging service. I've checked and double checked all of my settings and i do not have it set up to automatically delete anything at any time. I'm currently using Incredibly Re-engineered v2.3.1 and Lou's #8 kernel. The problem didn't ever occur when i was using the stock rooted rom.
So does this happen after a reboot, or just something you notice after putting your phone down then coming back to it...? Odd.
Try flashing another ROM, Lou makes a great EVO based ROM called Incredible Revolution. Give that a shot just to see if it is a ROM based issue.
Its a known issue... really annoying.

It just does it at random. I've even been looking through them and its happened. Is it just the rom you think?

I have had it happen to me on EVERY 2.2 rom I've used. Its yet to happen on 2.3.2 for me.

Any 2.3.2 sense roms that you'd suggest? I like my sense widgets.
None exist yet.

Dang it. Alright... any temporary patch that can fix the problem until some stable gingerbread roms come out?
Nope... Just hope it doesn't happen often. I use omfgb and its stable it just doesn't have sense. Cm7 is also great.

Nope. Only full wipe when switching roms. Although if youre switching kernels like u said, if youre going from one made by 1 dev and switching to another by a diff dev i would wipe the dalvik cache under advanced in recovery

Thanks alot, and another quick one, if i were to flash a rosie mod, would i do it just as i would flash a rom/kernel? And would I want to wipe the dalvik cache for that too?
EDIT: Man i have alot of stupid questions, but also how would i remove the old kernel... or do i not have to? lol.

Yea I had this same issue man, at first I thought it was my crappy sprint service in san diego but then I noticed I would get my txt messeges only through google voice and my 3g was fine.
So what u need to do to fix it is do nandroid back.p
flash a sense rom(i used my first nandroid ,faster to setup)
Then just update prl, profile, all those options, dont remember which ones they are but I know its all the ones where you find the prl option.
After that just flash back to your cm and it should work.
Remeber NOT to accept any OTA update when u flash to sense rom.
First step, call Sprint and see if there is an outage in your area. If not, flash back to a stock rom. If that still doesnt help, call sprint back and have them re-activate your phone, and update the profile.

From a sense rom, make sure the app works, test it, ect. Backup the app and data, flash to cm7, restore only the app and data.

[Q] MIUI 2.3.23 to 2.3.16

I have installed MIUI 2.3.23 on my wife's epic, and the text is not working. I saw where this is an issue and it was recommended to use 2.3.16. Do I need to wipe data and cache to flash 2.3.16, or can I just flash it? Sorry if that is a bonehead question; just trying to save a few steps, but don't want to mess this thing up.
Sam
Wipe everything and flash clean other wise you'll end up transfering the corrupt data

Thanks for the quick reply. I did this.
I've flashed 2.3.23, 2.3.16, 2.1.16, and now 1.12.23.
I wiped everything (cache, dalvik cache, and data) each time. I cannot get the thing to receive texts. Sends them fine, but won't receive them. I have searched the forums, but can't find the answer. What have I missed?
Thanks,
Sam

You're on miuigb? I flashed 1.12.23 over 2.3.16 no problem, didn't even clear data, Odining could always help but maybe just flash another rom and go back, to MIUI...

Yes, I am currently on the GB version. Started with the most recent ICS, and I have been working my way back through the versions thinking one would allow texting to work, but none have. I'm in the process of restoring the CM7 backup to see if that will work.
Thanks for the input. I'll let you know how it turns out.

[Q] Wifi won't turn on

Hi,
After I installed a custom rom i decided that I wanted to go back to stock 4.2.2. I installed it via odin, but now my wifi won't turn on. The whole reason I switch to a custom rom was that i wasn't receiving text messages mainly mms messages. Does anyone know a fix for this?
Thanks
Have you done a full wipe since odining back to stock? At least cache and dalvik.
