It's a new record for me... I had my new Aria/Liberty/Intruder all set up and inside of three days dropped and T-boned the screen
Anyone have ideas on where to find parts for a Aria? I understand HTC is notoriously slow about releasing aftermarket parts. The repair guy I took my phone to encouraged me to help him find the part.
Many thanks-

I used to order all my blackberry parts from here. Very good reveiws. There across the seas but shipping is usually quick and even faster if you bump it up.http://cnn.cn/shop/htc-aria-c-277_1068.html
Thanks Kudvu002! You saved the day!
I found one on ebay, but the shipping's not as quick.
Have you tried taking it apart yet? I'm trying to get a little insight on the disassembly. It seems like you can pop off the top yellow cover but I wasn't able to get it off and didn't want to force it.
anyone knows where to buy the digitizer for the Aria? cnn.cn shows the digitizer in stock,, but when you go to checkout it says it is not....
Ordered mine about a week ago but it says it was shipped, now I just gotta get it apart!

digitizer replaced
So I followed the tutorial found on android forums, it was relatively easy, i forgot to take pictures of the steps but i can write a tutorial if anyone wants it, because the tutorial on A.F. is a little vague. But I have found a solution to the cracked screen problem, I went to Best Buy to see if they had the Zagg shield (which they do, it's for the Intruder/Aria/Liberty) but they also had a new case which looks a little more resilient against dropping. The case is made by Superior Communications (BB item number 35307BBR) and is pretty rugged looking, anyways let me know if you want a tutorial written up, i will try to get some pics to do it with.
so I'm about to replace mine.. any tutorial with pics available?
for those of you that have ordered and recieved their replacement digitizers, are they AT&T branded still?

Yes they are.. and they are not original part... there are some differences... and after the installation you will have the light that turns on the -home- menu-back-search buttons to filter into the screen. I finished up adding the insurance and getting a brand new for $50.00 and sold the old one for 200

I can have a tutorial up by tomorrow, unfortunately with pics of the full install but close enough to get you there. The screen I bought was an HTC oem screen and ATT branded, there aren't any that aren't branded so far. Lemme get the tutorial together and ill post it tomorrow.

I've seen this phone shown off a few times withut the AT&T branding and with just the HTC logo at the top/middle and would prefer that digitizer.
(and no I wasn't mistaking the HD Mini for the Aria lol) Wonder how long before those are available. Probably will have to wait until another carrier gets the phone IF anyone else decides to even pick it up.
The button light issue is quite a drag tho. Sucks. You could try to add some sort of tiny strip above the capacitive buttons area to shield the light from leaking into the viewable screen area.
here is a good video showing a Disassembly of the phone, it might help.

I just came home today from vacation and opened my desire HD that I received - right away on the back I notice this square shaped lump on the upper left corner.

My DHD has that.
Damn you! I never noticed mine until you brought it up (since 26 Oct). I can swear that it wasn't there before, so it must be contagious! This thread should be deleted before it spreads
On the serios side - I think all DHDs have that.
Yep mine has is too, i hadn't noticed either, i wouldn't worry about it, its supposed to be like that
Well thank god I guess then. Sorry I had to bring it up to all of you lol. Already unpeeled my Zagg shield so there goes £18 I'll never see again.
Thanks for your replies!
Ok, this is the last time i'll read threads like this. I didn't notice it before now.. Damn you OP, haha
But meh, i don't care, can't really see it. Heck, it took me three weeks to notice it, and not by me.

Right... Some has it, others dont. Just like many other things with this phone...
*checks my DHD*
Mine dont have the lump
When I look at mine from a certain angle I can see a little gradient like in the picture, but it's meant to be like that as it fits the contours of the phone. I can't feel a lump at all.
Oh well, im not gonna bother shipping it back. Since I no longer have the invisibleSHIELD (which I failed with big-time, hardest applying of anything I've ever tried) I instead ordered a Martin Fields for the front and lens, and an Otterbox (OMG £28) for the back. And with that being on the back, no ones gonna be able to see the SQUARE LUMP anyway!
Oh, and just in case im gonna fail with Martin Fields aswell, I bought another 10 protectors for just £5! Wish I'd of know about that before I invested in the overpriced range!
I noticed it before i bought the phone, in the store. Its just flexing its muscles..

Yo guys, Had a bad day today.... Broke the screen on my phone. Does anyone know where to get replacement screen's from now a day's? Preferably not Ebay as i hate it but If that's the only place i guess i must. Now I have checked ebay but the ammount of Galaxy Nexus S Screen's that are on there it didn't seam like anyone would have any replacement screen's... could be wrong though! Any help appreciated

What happened? ... How is broke?
I was wondering how long it would be before someone killed one. I very much doubt you'll have any luck sourcing a screen for one this soon after it's release, your only choice might be to contact Samsung regarding repair I'm afraid.
Haha, yep I broke the screen. Well I've cracked it any whoo. Still working perfectly fine . I dropped it yesterday when I was walking to work. Landed right on a curb....
Yeah I didn't insure it, never dropped the previous phones I've had, this ones a slippery bugger though.
I didn't think there'd be screens out yet, I'll keep my eyes posted for some. Anyone know any decent sites to check?

There wont be any replacement screens out for quite a while im afraid, maybe 6 months or more as this is such a new phone and all available stock will be going to make the phone itself or held by samsung for repairs. As mentioned before your only option if you want it fixed is to send it back to samsung for repair or claim under your contents insurance if you have accidental cover.

do you have accidental damage on your home insurance? might be worth checking if they will cover you that way. All my gadgets are covered this way, whether inside or outside the house.
God know's ha, I'm currently living at my mother's so no idea if she has or not! Ahhh well, as i said i didn't expect there to be any screens. I can still use the phone, and at the moment can't be arsed with the hassil of ringing all these place's to check if they will replace it. Thanks anyway's guys, Got a perspective from it if anything .
Did you pay for it with a credit card? You may be covered for accidental damage eg barclaycard:

Buy eligible goods worth over £50 with a Visa or MasterCard credit card and they will be protected against accidental damage, loss or theft for the first 90 days, subject to an excess of £50. If any of these occur in that period, you should notify us within 45 days of the incident, and the police within 36 hours. You're covered for:

You might want to look into a warranty like square trade. I was looking at insurance options myself and square trade seems to be the best. They allow you to buy insurance for a phone that is up to 30 days old. It might not be the most ethical thing to do to buy it for an already broken phone but they wouldn't offer that service if it wasn't profitable for them.
The plan is not cheap, and there is a deductible for replacement but it beats having a broken phone for 2 years.

I am shocked . 500 quid phone barely a couple of weeks old and you can't be arsed to get it fixed? I would have literally in tears!
i saw on eBay it has already full housing.
The only parts site I know of is cnn.cn.
It doesn't look like they have anything for this phone right now though.
Well it isn't that bad. I can still use the phone perfectly and only notice the cracks when the screen is off. I can't get hold of a screen and am not dealing with insurance company a cause I feel them to be a majour pain in the arse. No point in getting worked up over something I can't change . I'll buy a screen when I find one online. Thanks for all your options though

I'll be going to china on december 7-8 and 14-16, i'll check it out for you, i'll look on the 7, and let you know, and if the price is ok, you can paypal me and i'll buy it on the dec 14, at present i'm searching for white nexus s battery cover for members in this forum.
dont expect the screen to be cheap, i remember the nexus s screen cost approximate USD 120 when the phone was first released.
I have had my Galaxy Nexus for 5 days, and have also cracked the screen.
Problem is I have no idea how it happened. Phone was fine this morning when I set out for work and put it in my trouser pockets. But when i got to work and went to use it there was a huge crack across the screen, about at the point where the curve starts.
So i thought i would try my luck and see if I could get it replaced under warranty, as i had not dropped it or damaged it in any other way, so felt it was a manufacturing defect. Unfortunately I had no luck. As far a Phones4u (Where ig got it from) are concerned a cracked screen is accidental damage, so i will have to pay to get it repaired.
Then they quoted me a cost of £40-£70 for the repair, with the final cost inside that range depending on the amount of damage they had to fix. Now if the fix comes in under £70 i will be extremely happy. When i broke a Galaxy S screen it was £70 for the part alone, so under £70 for the part and fix looks like a good deal, so i accepted thinking i would get nowhere with my warranty argument.
I am waiting for the catch as currently it sounds too good to be true, as i was expecting something closer to £200. I will let you all know how it goes.
Pics or it didn't happen

same thing happened to me, dropped from 2 feet onto linoleum.
still very usable, only somewhat annoying. guess i will wait a few months for replacements to appear. in the meantime i am ordering a case. also just want to say i have never dropped and broken a phone in my life before this.
Hi guys,
This is my first post. HTC one V is the first smartphone that I owned. I got it through a relative from Malaysia in April and to tell the truth I was hooked.
The Good: Excellent looks and finish and a brilliant display was things that are a bargain at this price range. Combine that with a fluid interface, excellent battery life for a smartphone (i got about 36hrs once) and tethering support it was real good.
The Bad: But as everything else out there there are the lows. First is the camera- everything is good except for the image quality. Looking at the images on the phone screen can be deceiving (display is that good). On a larger computer screen or print the images look just average. The colors look artificial and may often look over softened (clear once you zoom the image). Samsung galaxy ace and sony xperia mini series (both have 5MP cameras) are miles ahead in image quality. Sound quality is good but not the best. Placement of charger port was also odd. Except for the camera other things can be forgiven including the non-existent Compass !
Ugly: Now to the hardest part - complaints. First time i switched on the phone I noticed yellow patches on display on the left side bottom and top corners. Clearly visible on startup screen, browser, documents, ebooks etc., (white and grey backrounds). I was thinking whether to send it back to malaysia to claim guarantee and then decided against it for two reasons -
1. patches is not an issue in other screens (except for the plain backround) and can be ignored as it is in the corners (it did not go away even after a months use as some claimed).
2. I was in absolute love with the phone and just could not think of not having it for more than a month if it has to go to malaysia and then come back :silly:
Then last week I was traveling. watched a video clip, listened to some songs attended two calls and then put the mobile in my pocket (more than 40% charge remaining). After about 45mins when I took it out and the phone was simply dead. Nothing could make it switch on. Now I have sent it back to Malaysia with my relative. I really don't know whether they will repair it or replace and when I am going to get it.
So that's the story. I hope I get a good unit back
Are yo sure you talking about the same phone! lol
i've had mine for2 months and quite frankly, it rocks
camera is awesome, and very clear pictures when i transfer to pc.
have friends with differents htc's ranging from the one to sensation and they all envy my new phone.
Im Loving it!
I'm Lovin' it
Hi japodude,
Loving the phone doesn't make the image better and yes I am talking about the same phone. I agree that the image is very clear, unfortunately there is a difference between clarity and quality.
I never said camera is bad but the quality of image definitely is not up to the mark and may be due to optimizations by the camera software. Look at bright portraits with contrasting colors and you will see colors getting a washed-out look. It just could have been better. You may not see this in landscapes. Or may be I got a bad piece of camera in my set.
But I do agree on one count. The phone is awesome
ive used a spectromitor to calibrate monitor colours to match my phone colour. the real test would be to print one picture and see.
my previous phone is nokia x6,,also 5mp,,i compared camera picture of these 2 phones and i must say my x6's camera is far better than one v
and im facing problems of heating..gaming makes this phone really hot..and i got one time experience of after gaming for 15 mins,, phone got hot,, i leave it for 2 hours,, when i picked it up its still hot,, i put it in the floor to absorb cold and then it cools..
but overall im satisfied with my 1st android phone..the price,, looks and performance
Hi alborotz,
Nokia traditionally is good with camera (hardware). Remember the N-series, and now the N8 and pureview, something that HTC will take a long time to achieve. Check out the blind test on gsmarena comparing pureview to a number of phone cameras and even olympus. It is not a surprise for me that HTC One X came last (actually zero votes!!!).
One V is not much of a gamer, I believe, but a good all-rounder. i am sure you must have admired the display when playing some of those (Temple Run, Angry Birds, Raging thunder). Things just look so ONEderful. I checked out a colleague's galaxy SII. Though AMOLED, it had a heavy bluish tinge, almost like looking through a blue filter. Comparing both these side by side, One V was better in clarity and SII better with the contrast (Not bad for a phone in this range!!) Heating must be due to the aluminium body which conducts heat better than the plastics out there. May be its good for the phone internals (i am guessing here!!).
I am just wondering when I will get my phone back -whether it will be a replacement or repair. just itching to get it back
Thanks guys
I like my One V. Is small, handy, has crisp and good sound, also screen is visible in direct sunlight (now we have african temperatures over 30 C, here in Poland). And the phone is much lighter than Evo 3D, which I had earlier.
I love this phone. Very good first android/starter phone for anyone thinking about that.

I did consider that angle. The position was not suitable for that to happen. I put the phone in my front left jeans pocket, the chin was down and screen facing away from me. In that position both keys (volume and power) comes towards my left with power key to the open part of jeans and volume key away from outside thigh. So, that's pretty much a far stretched possibility. But then as one Mr. Holmes said "when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth".
And now the replacement unit is too good. No trace of anything yellow. And boy I am happy..except that I have to buy a screenguard again

bezbeV,
How long did it take to get your phone back from HTC?
I have a problem with my camera where yellow specs/dots show up on pictures on white backgrounds. I have only seen one other post about this issue on another forum.
I contacted HTC and they said to perform a soft reset and if that didn't work, a factory reset. Both did nothing. My next option is to contact their warranty and repair specialists. Just wondering if its worth it.
Thanks.

Well, it actually took quite a long time, almost 2+ months, but then again it may depend on the country/region you are in. But do read my previous post - I did not give the phone for repair just because it had yellow spots, but it was DEAD. So I did not have a choice.
Next is your second point. HTC is bluffing. The yellow spot is a "manufacturing defect on the LCD screen" which will not go away with any soft or hard reset. Don't waste your time on this, but do make backups. If you purchased the phone recently, DEMAND a replacement immediately from HTC. Check the phone on the spot for any spots before accepting the new piece.
I believe that it is worth to get a replacement even if it takes a month than to live with the thought that what you purchased with your hard earned money which is supposed to be 'quality-checked' before delivery is a defective piece. You certainly did not get it from a factory-seconds store or discount sale. Why should you carry a defective piece?
Regards

Hi, am actually from India and I got the phone through a relative in Malaysia. I am sorry but cannot help you with the best price place. But as far as yellow spots go, i too heard that phones after april has come rectified. So prefer a set which is manufactured after april by checking serial number on the pack.it will be in the format AANNAAANNNN (N-number, A-alphabet). Prefer something that starts with SH over HT and 'N' at 4th place supposedly give you the manufacturing month (look for a value 5 and above here!). Once you have purchased it, open the set in front of them and check for any yellow spots (visible on white and grey backgrounds). If so return the piece immediately. You are eligible for a replacement then.
Do let us know once you get it.. best wishes

Hi Guys,
Just got my Huawei watch and since I´ve powered it on for the first time I am noticing a weird pattern of stripes on gray screens, on the settings menu for instance (a XDA member told me that's called banding). It´s hard to capture this on camera, but I am posting some pictures so you can see what I am talking about. Have anyone noticed something like that? Is this a problem or it´s nothing and I am overreacting? I couldn´t find any reports on this and this is not (as far as I know) related to the red tint issue.
On an unrelated matter, I also find the crown to be a little wobbly, and not very satisfying to press (it doesn’t make a good clicking sound). Is it supposed to be like this?
I appreciate your help.
Banding. Mine has none at all...I was actually looking for it when I first got the watch.
My button has a little play, but it clicks just fine.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
I don't have that on mine but if it's bad I would exchange it. My button is rock solid and the screen is flawless so I'm glad I received a good one. I don't recommend things unless I know they are good and I like my watch from experience. Its been 3 weeks now and I love it the same as the first time I opened it.
Thank you for the reply!
I didn't know the technical term, thanks. I am going to edit the thread to use the right terminology.
Why did you look for banding? Why were you expecting this problem?
Should I return my watch? It's not so easy for me because I don't live in the US, so I would have to pay international shipping and I would not be able to buy a new one.

Just one of the things I check when getting a new device.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Is it a big deal? Can it get worse over time? Cause if it stays the way it is I can deal with it, specially because how hard it is for me to return it.
The first one I picked up had noticeable banding (a little less than yours), so I decided to pick up another one. The second one was worse. I fear it may just be the nature of the technology and I don't have the time and energy to keep gambling for a better unit.
At this point I'm undecided if I'm going to keep the watch. It's a shame as it is a really nice looking device.
Btw - both watches had wobbly buttons, but that isn't really too bothersome.
Thank you very much for your reply! You are the first other person to report this issue. I was starting to think that I had terrible luck with that unit.
Well, mine went back to Amazon. And since I don't live in the US, it's hard for me to try again (have to wait for a friend to go there). And even if I had a second chance, I am not willing to take the risk of getting another bad watch. At this point I am very much considering the new Moto 360. It's got its flaws, but at least it doesn't have such wide spread issues.
Would you consider returning yours and trying the 360? If not, why's that? I would like to learn your opinion.
Thank you again!
Not a problem! I also considered the 2015 Moto 360 (42mm), but decided on the Huawei Watch. The Moto 360 is a very stylish watch and Moto Maker is downright awesome. However, the 2 reasons I chose the Huawei Watch are the reportedly bad dim mode and the "flat tire". I enjoy using WatchMaker to create watch faces and I'd rather not have to design around the flat tire. A friend of mine has the previous Moto 360 and doesn't mind it, though. I think it's more of a subjective issue.
I'm doing my best to get used to the banding and I think that it is only noticeable in straight gray environments (though that includes settings). I have a feeling that I'll notice it less and less over time, but your watch had worse issues than mine and I'm sorry about that.
Yeah, mine was very noticeable.
Do you think I should try a new one? How confident are you that the HW is going to hold up over time?
Do you think that the Moto 360 has a better chance of lasting longer? (no burn in, can charge the battery easily without having to buy a proprietary charger to carry around)?
I would appreciate your opinion.
I know this is a pretty old thread but I didn't want to start a new one for a similar issue. I got my watch today and I notice banding on my display as well. It's mostly visible with solid colors. I'm debating exchanging it with Huawei (I bought it direct through them). I'm trying to determine if this is normal or a defect

I can say for my watch, I have no banding like what you show in the pictures.

I am sorry to hear about your problem.
My watch had different banding. It was more noticeable in gray screens. It didn't have any banding in solid colors. I ended up returning mine. If it's easy for you I would exchange it. Good luck
