How can I enable USB debugging again? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, the other day when i plugged my phone into my friends computer the usb debugging option popped up on my phone. Thinking nothing of it I turnt it off. Bad idea as now after resetting my phone it stays stuck at the white HTC screen because usb debugging is off. I can still access recovery and all that jazz, so is there a way for me to enable it again?
I am currently running version 2.4 of Leedroid and am planning on upgrading to 3.0. Thank you.

Not without booting up the rom. And debugging is only for developement work and for things like rooting and S-Off but other than that, you don't actually need it at all. I don't see why it wouldn't allow you to boot up. Just reflash the rom you have and it should fix your problem.

I searched the Leedroid rom thread and somebody had the same problem as me. Lee said "did you disable usb debugging?" So, yes I would assume that this is the problem as the maker of the rom has said that.

It would seem I am stuck then.. Will I restore my backup?

Have a look into the leedroid-thread. The changelog says, that the debugging-issue is fixed.
I'd try to flash the new version via recovery, maybe that's the solution.

There still Sommer people having trouble with the debugging mode.
Normally you did a nand backup, don't you?! Try Young restore it, activate usb debugging if it is Notruf enabled already André reflash the new rom.
Ines the changelog where some infos about the debugging mode?

Hi all,
After flashing Android Revolution HD 5.1.3, whenever I connect my device to the computer via USB, the debugging mode will not disable. And yes I have disabled the option from inside the apps menu. Any thoughts please?

[Q] USB connection Hicups

My HTC Desire is ok most of the time.
Until i plug my usb cable in & try to download, then i get a reboot & have to reconnect & try again to no avail. I am trying to root my phone with unrevoked 3 & get to the point where the phone is being rooted & my phone will reboot at the same position each time. My phone is currently loaded withCyanogen7.03
I was trying to load another rom & had the same problem of rebooting, that is when i thought i would reroot my phone. Is there anyone that can lead me in the right direction .
Partial USB Brick.
Is the phone more or less operational?
You run AlphaRev by chance? (S-Off)
Surprised you ran unrevoked again when you were already rooted.
Try this; flash your cwm recovery through ROM manager to get the latest version.
Do all your wipes as usual.
Flash Cyanogenmod7 again.
Also, you can run a search for USB Brick. I've seen several of these as of late in numerous forums.
One more question, does it reboot when you plug it in to charge?
If not, you're lucky.

are you frickin kidding me??? i knew that usb debugging was on this whole time and never thought to turn it off! ok then heres one more slight issue i have. when the phone is powered down i cant boot right to recovery by holding power and volume down...is there a fix for that?
thanks so much man!
reinstall recovery, it doesn't instal while usb debugging is on either. Once it's installed you can hold vol down to access. But stock il recovery is no longer there
so, lesson learn....if you follow the faq/guides properly you wont have probs.

[Q] rooting questions

roughly 18 months ago, there was a guide on rooting. it was very extensive and it explained how to manually turn S-Off, root, create a gold card, etc etc etc.
I rooted my phone one time, and it worked flawlessly until I broke it. now I have a replacement phone, with stock 2.3.3 OS, and despite my scouring, I cannot find that lengthy guide.
I downloaded and attempted to root using AAHK, but it wont pass the USB check for some reason, even though I can access my phone through windows via the usb cable.
Anyway I'd rather not do the 1-click method, as I like to personally be in control of all steps.
so my question is, could someone either give me a brief list of the steps to take, the various software I could use for each step, OR, post me a link to the old guide that I cant seem to find...
much appreciated.
You say it fails during the usb check? Have you checked if you got usb debugging on? And seriously there won't be any easier way than AAHK which works flawless as long as you read the effen manual and follow it to the letter.

Im not looking for "easy". im looking for "familiar"! I did it once the long hard tedious manual way, successfully.
but anyway, to answer your question and without meaning to sound like a jackass, OF COURSE usb debugging is on.
any other ideas? i disabled as much software as I could from running in the background..
just comes up with
***ERROR ERROR ERROR***
Phone not plugged in
OR
Driver not installed
OR
USB Debugging not enabled.
***ERROR ERROR ERROR***
but phone IS plugged in, drivers ARE installed (several uninstall reinstalls done) and usb debugging IS enabled... so WTF?!?!?
Windows, especially pre-Vista/7, sometimes has trouble with USB-devices and their drivers. Maybe you have some other computer available where you could try it?
Not to sound like a donkey, but it sounds like your doing something wrong. With android you should be willing to root with different methods for each update or device. It worked for me when I had 2.3.3 so I can personally say it works. Did you use the drivers from the AAHK?
Also just an fyi even with an anti virus disabled it CAN interfere with the AAHK. If you simply disabled it, it might have corrupted AAHK. So uninstall that, and download AAHK, then try again.

that is pretty clear, isn't it? Have you installed the drivers with the phone UNPLUGGED??. If no, then just go to control panel, uninstall them and re install them with the phone unplugged. Then plug it in and let the drivers install.

Bricked

Any ideas? Thanks in advance! A constant Goog/padlock is all I get now after an ota 8.1.
I've gone and screwed it up by not turning on USB debugging before messing with it. There is no communica with the computer. Recovery gives me a red triangle/exclamation point + "No command". My son is more techie at this and he's stoked too. The bootloader is unlocked.
Tried calling LG but they want a receipt which I don't have, bought it used from an xda member.
@Dude+: in this state you should be able to flash firmware, by flashall.bat. Afterwards you may unlock bootloader again.
@rp158: USB debugging is off though, can't get the PC to recognize the phone is plugged in
@Dude+: USB-debugging isn't necessary for that. Try another USB-port /PC /cable.
@rp158 - awesome! I'm up and running! Thanks!!!
