Hi,
My phone is rooted, has stock Rom 2.2, sim unlocked it with sieempi's procedure and everything worked fine.
After repartitioning the SD yesterday, everything was ok until I've rebooted the phone and the card wasn't recognized anymore. I went through the procedure by which I was supposed to issue the fastboot commands and nothing happened (command issued successfully, rebooted)
Here's the weird part: I have 2 x 4 gig mSD class 6 cards: Samsung and Kingston which are not recognized by the phone. I have also a noname mSD card, a 2 gig one, which came with my old Nokia E71 which works fine (it is recognized by the HTC phone, no problems).
I've tried both my 4 gig cards in my E71 and work flawlessly. Can anyone suggest a solution ?
Edit: When I boot in hboot and it checks SD card i get: PB.....img not found.
Edit 2: Booted the Clockwork recovery, formatted the SD card, rebooted phone, still not there.
Edit 3: Reflashed latest stock RUU, still nothing.
Edit 4: Reformatted SDs with a USB adapter, all ok. BTW used Ubuntu to create fat and ext4 partition on SD through the phone.

So I plug my 16 gig in to format it and poof. Never even recognized it. Now nothing recognizes it, namely my previous phone.
Any way to salvage it? I tried to plug it into the pc directly but no dice. Possible that the converter card was not sdhc compatible.
Suggestions?
The card is not recognized when you plug it into the PC? Methinks it's a bunk card instead of the phone borking it.
maybe, but it was a bit too coincidental being as I have been using the card since november.
When I had that problem, I went and got the thing formatted by a digital camera and it came back to life.
It's worth trying if you have one handy at least.
GPARTED is the answer to all your formatting needs... Seriously, download it, throw it in your computer, and restart. Should boot into it.
Thanks for the great feedback. I'll let y'all know how it goes when I get back to my comp.
you might of formated it as ext instead of fat
One trick is to format the card in a camera, then back to your phone.
Also, what brand card is it? Transcend has an auto-format utility that may fix your card. Also Transcend has a lifetime warranty for flash type cards and will replace your card with a new one, you just need to start an RMA on their website and mail it in.
Installed Fresh 0.2 and was FC like mad, then finally no sd card. I then ran RUU to back to stock with no problems. Started to use mybackup and would not work. The phone reported a blank sd card, formatting failed to report any actions, not sure about this but thought something would display ie progress. Removed it and put it in my Windows7 64bit desktop and nothing, showed disk but not formatted. Put it in my Windows7 32bit Netbook and all was good. Back into phone and Astro showed everything was there, I am at a loss here but something is going on with these SD cards or the rom! Weird business this is!
download the SD Format tool?

Was this the 8GB card that came with your Evo?
It was the one that came with it. I gave my son the Hero with an 8gig thinking I was good. It is a Scandisk so figured it was ok, same as Hero anyway. I tried the SD formatter, older version I see so thanks for that update. Just weird that nothing worked until I put it in the Netbook with 32bit 7.
I finally got around to rooting my 1.32 EVO. I used the method found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=721055
With one exception. Since I was intending to run this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743781
And he doesn't like clockwork, I flashed RA's recovery before the ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026
The root seemed to work fine and I was able to flash just fine. The only problem is that now the SD card is dismounting every time I start up the phone. I know the SD card is fine because if I go into recovery it still sees the .zip files just fine. I've done some searching and some people seem to have the same problem and say that they format their SD card and then it works. Unfortunately, my USB microSD card reader recently failed so I have no way of accessing this card directly. Any suggestions?
Hello,
friend got her hands on a htc desire. She let some small shop unlock it before really testing it. Now we got the following problem:
The SD Card doesnt work. At first everything seemed to work okay. She took 52 pictures, even installed on app on the sd card. Then it basically froze.
We can delete half of the pictures and make some new ones. After the phone is rebooted all pictures are gone. Apps cannot be installed on the sd card.
If I remove the sd card and put it in my Nexus One everything works fine. New pictures survive the reboot, old ones get deleted.
When she puts the sd card in her desire, everything is back to 52 pictures and 1 app on it.
You cannot copy stuff like update.zip on the sd card, because the phone will only notice 52 pictures on it... Rom Manager has a "fix" option which doesnt work and partition it didnt help it - if it did anything at all.
We even bought a new 8 gb one, same problem. Some other people reported the same problem in forums, but there is never an answers what did fix it.
Its S-OFF with AlphaRev.
Sadly we both have no idea how to fix it and no android development skills. My plan would be to go back to RUU to see if the problem is still there. If yes, just get a new one from HTC. If no, unlock it again.
Sadly when it comes to roms and the "simple guides" we fail to reproduce even the first steps. "Go to fastboot and enter command XYZ" - yet we cannot enter any commands there.
Any help is welcome.
Can you connect your phone to pc in adb mode? Or simpler: what happened when you are connecting your phone to pc? Does it ask about mass storage mount? Is it in debug mode? If not, I think that it is classical USB-Brick, else... I don't know what is wrong...
I had also a problem with my sd-card.
Put it in a card reader and make checkdisk with windows solved my problem.
Weird, my answer disappeared.
When we connect it to a pc, we can delete files, format it, run scandisk, copy stuff on it. Everything works fine. When we put it back into the phone, the old 52 pictures and nothing else is on it.
And I thought I was the only one…
My problem is as follows, I had with my 1st Desire a 8gig Class 4 Transcend SD card which was perfect and connecting to and from my home and work pc was effortless.
Then my Motherboard burnt out on that phone sent it back and when I got the new one I put my 4gig Class 2 SD which I got with the phone back in and no issues.
A few days later I bought a new 8gig Kingston Class 4 SD ( I lost my Transcend SD card) and after 2 days I would get “SD mounted as read only” so formatted the SD copied my data back to my 8gig Kingston card which worked fine on my PC but the same problem persisted when I put it back in my phone. I was using ADW launcher and kept getting the same errors all the time, then I switched to Launcher Pro and since then I have had no SD card problems.
Also when I was using standard HTC sense I also never had a problem, I hope this is of some help.
I rooted my htc desire using Unrevok 3 and also tried to partition sd by mini tool home version . unfortunately after partition i cannot access or recognize sd in my desire.
Still not making any progress, ..
Hello, I am on an HTC One V running PACman ROM 15.3, with the kernel JmzPrimoC+.
I started having this problem a couple weeks ago. It would randomly unmount my SD card saying 'SD card unexpectedly removed'.
This started to happen more and more often until it would say that as soon as I put the SD card in.
I did a factory reset, which helped for about 5 minutes before it started happening again. Now, more recently, it started saying 'Damaged SD card. SD card is damaged. Try reformatting it.'
I put it in my computer (which doesn't show anything wrong with it), and did a full format. It didn't help at all.
This problem is happening with both my regularly used SD card (SanDisk Ultra® microSDHC™ UHS-I 32 GB (the red and grey one)), and my ordinary SD card (8 GB class 4 Kingston).
I don't think this can be a hardware problem because when I boot to recovery, TWRP recognizes it perfectly.
But I don't either see how its a software problem, because a factory reset should have helped...
Please help me, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Maybe its a bug in the rom?

Hhmmm...
Good idea. What other ROMs work with JmzPrimoC+ kernel? AOKP?

OK, update, now TWRP won't read the card! Either card!
Now I'm getting really nervous...
Does this mean it must be hardware?
Is there ANYTHING I can do now?
Please help!
Wow, I screwed up really bad.
I was gonna use TWRP to flash a new rom, so I did a factory reset, and then started flashing the rom.
But in middle of flashing the rom it was interrupted. So I rebooted, rereset, and then I realized... it's not reading my card.
I can boot to bootloader and recovery, but that's it. No OS. I'm screwed.
Is there ANYTHING I can do?
Is it possible to flash a rom over USB? Or SOMEHOW get my card working again?
Just enter recovery and use adb sideload to flash a ROM.

But I need an SD card in order to use ADB sideload!
It fails every time because
Code:
E:Unable to mount /sdcard
Is there ANY way to do this without an SD card?
OK, I was able to do it following this guide.
I flashed the latest version of PACman. Still rejecting my SD card though.
I guess it's a hardware issue. Too bad my warranty is void from bootloader unlock :\
Try to partition SD Card in recovery
I am facing same issue and I came across this thread while looking for solution. Here is what I tried. That resolved issue for five minutes and then damn! same issue again but someone can find possible fix using the info here.
HTC One V rooted, currently running MIUI 3.1.2 with JB 4.1.2
Sandisk 8 GB SD Card.
Firmware CWM Recovery
I was facing same issue even before I rooted my phone while Original HTC ICS 4.0 Firmware was installed. MY observation is the problem starts few months after you start using SD Card. (Insert a new SD card in your phone, it will work fine for days / months and then will start giving same error.
While I tried thousand time to remove SD card, clean slot, clean card and reinsert, it did not work. May be worked just once for few seconds. When I tried to connect phone to PC and browse SD card contents, the card was not detected.
Booted to recovery, tried to format card, not detected. Tried to mount SD card, not detected. Then tried to partition SD card in Advanced options in recovery. The available options are 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1024MB, 2048MB and 4096MB. Since my SD card is 8 GB, chose the largest option. Now got an option to choose SWAP partition size. Chose 256 MB. Next chose option fix permissions, you have to wait until you see message permissions fixed message on screen.
Now rebooted phone, and voila! It worked!! SD card with 3.94GB memory is detected. But what happened to my rest of 4 GB?
Tried many apps to manage SD card from Play store. Using an app called APart, was able to delete partitions on SD card and create new ones. It worked for few minutes and then again I got SD card unexpectedly removed message.
Does this info makes any sense? I am not a developer and do not know much into phones but someone who know might be able to help. Buying a new SD card is not an option here because its going to work temporarily.
Have you tried formatting the SD card with your computer?

Yes, tried formatting SD Card using computer. Works fine when connected using adapter. Not detected when phone is connected to computer.
Sorry if that's been asked before, but I've really searched all over the place and couldn't fine any solution.
So, for some reason my device stopped recognizing SD cards. It used to work fine until I switched to another card (from a Galaxy S1, if that's relevant), which it didn't recognize, then switched back to my old 64GB SD card and all of a sudden it didn't recognize it as well. I mean, nothing to indicate I've just inserted a new card shows up. Not even the scanning media message or anything. It's like the device doesn't know that I insert any SD card.
I've tried anything I could think of - formatting SD card, mega wipe, flashing stock rom, flashing Philz recovery + wanamlite rom.
Nothing worked.
Thanks in advance,
I'm really at a loss
