I am relatively new at this, so I apologize if I'm missing any necessary information...
When I rooted my phone the first time, the most updated version of Syndicate Frozen was 1.0.2 (Malanga)/Twilight Zone 1.0.4. I never had an issue with it, and for the most part it ran with no problems. I ran the fully loaded which didn't include Launcher Pro with it, but I had previously purchased it when I was running stock.
A couple of days later, I noticed that an update was available for Syndicate Frozen 1.1.0 (Takiya). So I went ahead and ODINed my phone from EB13 to EB05 and flashed to the updated version (fully loaded). When I went to activate my launcher pro back on my phone, whenever I tried to add a LP Widget, it would tell me it would need to force close. I was never able to add the widgets that I use all the time. I ended up flashing back to EB13 and version 1.0.2 and since haven't had a problem.
I'd really like to update to the most recent version, but also would like my launcher pro to work... Is this a known issue or am I doing something completely wrong and just don't know it...

The only LPP widget that doesn't work at the moment is the bookmark widget. You can work around this by putting the stock EC05 browser in /system/app, but keep in mind you'll get the checkerboarding and window limit back.
If it's not the bookmark widget giving you trouble, something else that isn't ROM-related is the issue. Out of curiosity, why did you get Fully Loaded if you don't use TouchWiz?

Come to think of it, I think the first widget I tried putting back on using LP was the bookmrk widget...
And I actually didn't have fully loaded at first, but didn't realize the standard came with launcher pro, and when I restored my backup, my phone went into super freak mode because my LP conflicted with the preloaded LP. It was force close mania. So I went to fully loaded that didn't have LP loaded on it.
I think I'll try updating it first thing in the morning, and I'll live without the bookmark widget if need be. And I think I'll try out TW as well... I'll post how everything works!

Don't waste your time. Only rjmjr69 uses TouchWiz.
Everything is working great! At first my restore put the bookmark widget back on and caused a few issues, but I quickly removed it and haven't had any problems since!
Thanks for your help!

I'm using the latest Fresh and stock kernel.
Lately my browser won't let me submit things - such as search bars, etc - like if I want to look for something on wikipedia I can type in my search term, but the link for the "search" or "go" button doesn't do anything.
Any idea what could be the culprit here?
I have had some of the same issues. They did not go away until I restarted the phone....

Glad to know I'm not alone. I restarted once and it didn't fix. Restarted again and it did. Odd, but glad it's working again.
I've noticed the same...but it seems to only be an issue when I'm running LauncherPro. If I'm using Sense or ADW, I NEVER have this issue. It happened before my root AND after.

Hmm I am using Launcher Pro, mainly because I don't notice any tearing using the FPS kernal. Maybe I will switch back to Sense to test this out.
Iam using a TILT 2 with FR03 2.2 and my activity launcher expired. the easiest way i have found to fix this is by going to www.appbrain.com/app/org.adw.launcher this will take you to appbrain.com to adw launcher downloading site, but above in the banner it should say "download directly from the android market" click on that it takes you to the market and you can search and download adw or launcher pro.
I also installed adw launcher today, got it via the jbthemes site linked me over to android market. Have to say that with the 1245 kernel and adw installed it seems my device seems more stable (for now). Have been fairly happy with it like this so far, haven't had any force close issues like I normally do with launcher pro.

Me too, give me 5
But instead of using adw launcher, I choose zeam launcher, since IMHO not only it's faster and much lighter, but it also xda product
Using it with Neopeek's VanlijEclair build and 1124 kernel, really fast and stable for everyday use.
i'm going crazy with that launcher...
how i can update when i can't reach my settings to connect with the internet? My browser said no networkconnection found and i can't enable wifi or change the settings for 3G...

Same issue. Maybe there's a way to update via Winmo?
Excuse me for being blunt, but this is in no way the "Easiest way to get activity Launcher Pro working."
It would be comparable to someone asking "What's the easiest way to get Windows to be less buggy?" and being answered with "Switch to Linux"
On a thread-related note, I actually switched from ADW.Launcher to LauncherPro because after installing ADW, it began to FC constantly. Haven't had a single problem with LauncherPro since I switched 4 days ago.
ok how do you actually fix this... when I boot into android it just takes me to the browser which says launcherpro has expired and i can't get it to connect to my wifi...
i have the rhod 210 from tmobile. i just don't see how to install the adw launcher or reinstall the launcherpro...
been reading through the threads and googling answers but so far thel all just say to install adw or zeam... but how exactly do you install it if you can't get the phone to connect to your wifi?...

If you don't have a cellular data cxn, I don't think you can.
I'd just start over. If you delete your data.img, it should start you fresh. If that doesn't work, you probably have a build with LP burned into it. Get a vanilla FRX03 image.
I started over. I uninstalled Android then completely reformatted my Micro SD card. After which I downloaded the new copy of the BLAZN Android then installed that one, but still it gave me the same result...
sorry I am still a bit confused about the builds. Can you provide me the link for the vanilla FRX03 image?...
I read through the threads and TBH I got lost with the builds and the kernels
[EDIT]: I just installed the FRX03 build from Matthew Gonzales and now it's working fine. Now I just have to figure out how to get some stuff working properly again. Thanks for the help arrrgggghhh

So, I switched from Stock EB13 to Syndicate ROM 1.0, just a couple days before 1.0.1 released. One thing I thought was kinda neat was that when I went to choose a Widget, instead of listing different sized widgets for the same app and making a huge list, it would just list the app once and put the number of available widgets next to it. It made browsing the long list of widgets much cleaner and easier.
A couple days later when 1.0.1 released and I wiped and loaded that, I lost that cool condensed widget list. Can anyone tell me why?
I don't have any idea whether this was Syndicate ROM specific, or something to do with switching to Launcher Pro from TouchWiz, or something else entirely. Maybe it's even just a setting I overlooked?
Thanks if you can point me in the right direction!

Thanks, that appears to be exactly what I was thinking of. I didn't have to install it separately before, though. Was it included in 1.0 and removed from 1.0.1? I don't want to reinstall if it was removed for a good reason (stability, etc).

im running stock froyo ec05. however it did this on eb13 as well. never rooted or modded anything. but what happens is after i close an app, texting , phone call, browser, game etc. it shows my background but my icons take up to 15 seconds to reappear. what could be causing this and is it an easy fix?
I Have the Same issue, also looking for the answer. we have 2 Epics here, one rooted one not. both have been doing it for a while, but the other day one of them needed the battery pulled, was stuck for 1/2 hour+
i can make it fail by just opening the keyboard from a home screen, takes a while to reload the icons.
I have the same issue. If I open and close it more than once the time decreases but it never did this on Eclair.
so just as a quick update. i changed/tried other Launchers and that seems to be the factor. i'm now using Go Launcher and it's great. seems that TW and Froyo don't play well together is my best guess. ADW, Launcher Pro, even Stock Launcher all work better right away.
For those of us who might want to stay with Touch wiz, it would be nice to find a fix for this though.

Mine sped up considerably by putting on a custom ROM. No speed enhancements between stock Froyo and Touchwiz.
Hi all,
My phone is rooted. Not a fan of the Sense 4.0 SMS/MMS app. I know I can download the default ICS 4.0.3 MMS.apk from the market.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.concentriclivers.mms.com.android.mms
When I go to install it, it says it will overwrite the existing application. Before I get reckless...
Couple questions:
- Why is there no existing mms.apk in /system/app ? I can't find it. Does HTC call it something different or...?
- How do I backup the current Sense version in case I screw this up and need to restore it?
- Is the Sense one tightly integrated into the rest of Sense? Will it break other apps, widgets...?
So far I got this working.
1. installed stock ICS SMS from market
2. backed up and removed /system/app/Message+CRC_1.apk
3. rebooted phone
Haven't tested MMS nor any sense features that might bomb (I hope not)
I'll update thread if there are any problems and I need to roll this back
Any Update
Hey. Just wondering if you had any update on how this worked? Everything still fine? I want to go to the ICS MMS app, cause the sense one isn't as nice.

I use it daily, the SMS app works perfectly. Love this change.
The HTC SMS widgets that display your messages on your desktop may not work (don't think mine do) but this is easily remedied by just finding other widgets in the market etc. Just don't put the default HTC ones on your desktop.
Won't uninstalling the app just automatically put stock sense app back in there?

No. The stock ICS app does not play nice with the stock Sense app, you can't have them both on the phone at the same time. Its not like when you install GOSMS or something.
I had to actually delete the sense app right off the phone completely for it to work properly. Otherwise I had strange problems such as messages being sent twice.
Since I physically deleted the sense app there is no going back without re-installing the sense APK.
Did you save the stock apk? No joke one of my hesitations is the messaging app. If I can switch to stock ICS for messaging I may be ordering mine yet tonight.

Honestly no why would i? I updated this post to be kind but I'm not building something here, this was for my own use and it works perfectly. I'd that's not what you're looking to hear, find another thread. I won't lose sleep at night.
As for backing up the original sense app, yes I did see step 2 above. I used adb for this just pull the file.
Again this works perfectly If anyone cares to try it. nothin to lose, if you don't like it just put the sense file back and reboot.
I installed both the calendar and the sms app today and they seem to work fine. Haven't tried mms. Haven't uninstalled anything yet, will see if I run into trouble. Thanks for posting readk, been searching for this but didn't find it until now
EDIT: Ran into problems immediately of course where pressing the Messaging app launched the HTC Messages app. Following your instructions for backup and removal seems to have done the trick though. Next step will be to do the same for the calendar

Wow, get out of the basement once in a while and realize how to communicate with humans. I simply really liked the idea of stock ICS messaging on the HOX and since I don't have mine yet I was just asking to see it because I imagine it would look really awesome. Why would you? I guess since you were sharing what you were doing I thought you wouldn't mind. Guess not.
