i am trying to apply a moded launcher pro but seem to be having issues. i uninstalled the previous version prior to flashing the .zip but still no luck. can someone possibly fill me in on what im doing wrong?
You shouldn't need to flash a zip to install a modded version of LauncherPro. It should be an APK which you can just install while the phone is running. Can you link us to the modded version you are trying to install?
yeah it's for the warm z rom. it's listed under the optional mods but heres the link.
sorry this isn't moded its just a previous version but if theirs any more out there id love to try em

Hi, I have had the previous versions of MIUI working great and have been able to change themes easily by simply dropping in the MIUI/Themes folder then ap0plying through settings/personal. Something in the latest versions seem to have changed, with no explanation?! Firstly some themes dont show, Ive noticed that the file extension has changed to MTZ but then when I apply as a "system style" some things change but not all, eg background and icons unchanged.
Help this is one of the main reasons I changed to MIUI, now it seems frustatingly complicated and broken?!
Using stock 12.24 and ebglish language pack btw
131 views and not one comment, this forum really is dying!?
Hmm, not sure if I can help but I will at least make a suggestion.
I'm using the same MIUI ROM (12.24 R2 to be exact), and do not appear to have any issues with it, especially with theming.
Are you using 12.12 R1?
Did you flash the language pack manually?
Did you perform a full wipe of the data and caches before flashing the ROM?
EDIT: Do you have the Gingerbread keyboard installed? I think that may be the cause to your problem as it breaks theming with MIUI apparently.

I installed the language pack by just going into recovery and flashing if thats ok?
Didn't install any gingerbread keyboard unless it came with original miui rom
On this install didnt wipe anything, but with previous I did factory reset and had problems with themes then too.
Cheers for the reply though
I've looked around and several solutions are provided but none of them work. I have downlaoded several themes in ZIP-format. I just can't seem to add them to my theme manager. I've tried renaming to MTZ and opening via the Theme Manager->Import from SD-card, but that doesn't work either. Any solutions?
Which Miui version you are using and which theme you will use?
I have many problems with the Miui 1.4.29 version and the current themes.
Since GB I have to many problems with it. I changed back to GB Sence and give it a try
The latest? I only flashed my ROM since wednesday I believe. So I suppose the latest
Have you tried opening the zip and placing the .mtz file in the theme manager?

The ZIP doesn't contain a MTZ.
Tell us which Theme you will use then we can help.
Have you download and active other Themes over the Theme Manager?
Have you the same issue?
This is an example of a theme: http://miuithemes.com/63/paper-miui-theme/

Downloading via the Theme Manager works fine although not a lot of themes give me a preview of the theme.
Maybe it is not possible to install these themes via theme manager, because they change some systemfiles which cannot be changed with a running system?!
IMHO i would always do it on this way:
1.) Download the theme and copy it on sd-card
2.) Reboot phone into recovery
3.) Make a complete nandroid backup, just in case
4.) Flash the theme as normal
5.) Reboot phone
I think, this is the best and safest way. So you should try this and tell me, if it works.
Hi guys
I want to flash a custom rom. But I dont like the default launcher (launcher2.apk) can I replace it with Launcher Pro and can launcher pro still be updateble through the market.
I deleteled the launcher2.apk from /system/app folder and added the launcher pro.apk but after I flashed the rom I saw that the market doesn't recognize the installed luncherpro. So is it possible that I put the launcher apk file in a non-root folder inside the flashable rom zip file?
Another question I downloaded the "maps5.8.0 ownhere testkeyresign.apk" to be able to have navigation support in my country. Now should I put this file inside /system/app before I flash the custom rom or should I install it later? Whats better?
Just download launcher pro from market install it and then delete the other launcher and u should be fine

To answer your launcher question, try installing launcherpro from the market, and THEN deleting Launcher2.apk, that way you will only have launcherpro, which would also be updatable. You can use android commander to do so (requires android-sdk)
And to answer your maps query, it doesn't really matter, if you put the .apk in the ROM before installing you won't be able to uninstall it in the future as it will be classes as a "system app".. that's the only difference.
Thanks for the answers. Looks like the best way is to install the new launcher and maps after I flashed the rom

put your maps in the /system/app if want to use forever if not should be in /data/app folder if your custom rom has this feature so you can uninstall this later- read about /data/app feature also if your custom rom has root feature or you have a rooted phone it doesn't matter - you can delete this apk with Root Explorer by example
regarding launcher apk Market doesn't recognize this because is signed differently than the apk from Market -let us say I download from Market an apk and decompile it... to compile back and make that apk I will use own signature to accomplish this task so is that Market will say yeah ! a new app there because this is signed by me not original developer or can be signed in Eclipse with debug signature- also this signature is not ok

Howcan I change the launcher before flashing rom (stock rom) ??
I know the DSP Manager is from the CyanogenMod and this question should be asked in the Juggernaut ROM section, but here it is anyways.
I want to know if it is possible to install DSP Manager and make it fully functional, while on the Juggernaut Rom? Also, if anyone knows how, please could you write up a tutorial of some sort?
Thank you very much in advance!!!
Bump! +10 Char!
I'm using it on Juggernaut 3.7 ROM. You need the dsp manager apk. Google it for the apk, then search how to install apk android. The forum won't allow me to post links just yet. It's not too difficult to install.
Apparently, for the Manager to work, I need to change base system frameworks, could you please write how to make the Manger work please?

How did you get this to work??
I know from the vibrant, that Samsung uses a customized libaudio.so ..... I tried to switch this out for the same dsp and got a kernel panic ...
Yeah seriously! How do we get DSP Manager working?!
I can't really explain why it isn't working for you. I used these forums as a guide to install it. I also know you could flash Beast Mod 2.0, as it has dsp manager built in. Use titanium backup to back up the app and data for it. RE flash current rom. Then just restore it from there.
Hey there is an app that you get in the market that installs it for you. I am using it on juggernat 4.1 and I have used it on many other roms. The name of the app is root tool box pro. I forget if I had to pay for it or not but it cant be more than $2.00. It installs it for you so you dont have to worry about doing anything. It has a bunch of goodies I think that you go to the menu called other and then you go to install cyanogen dsp manager.

Greetings!
I miss my old Bokeh Live Wallpaper from previous versions of HTC Sense. Exploring the files from my Clockwork backup I found a file called Mode10Wallpapers.apk, this is the LWP I was looking for, but for some reason I can't install it... I don't like the ones in the Google Play Store, they are not the same thing.
Anyone know a way I can install this apk?

Done
Ok... it seems that the Bokeh LWP is only compatible with Sense 3 UI, but now, thanks to this new rom I'm trying (XxXPachaXxX Nero 3.0) I now can have ICS and Sense 3.6 at the same time.
Thanks for the reply
