I am running beta1 of Fresh's v4 and I would like to have an SBC kernel so that I can squeeze more out of my battery. I tried netarchy's latest beta 4.3.4 but the camera/camcorder don't work with it.
As anyone having success with an alternative kernel, ie everything working?
Just downgrade to the 4.3.2 version.

Thanks for the idea, have you successfully done it or is it just an idea?

No one else has been able to solve this problem yet either I suppose. I am sure Fresh will get to it when he has time.
Check my signature, bro. That's the kernel I'm using because 4.3.4 was giving me issues.
its a beta based off the leak... not everything will function properly yet...

I have been looking all over but I can't seem to find the latest HTC Kernel and would prefer to use it. So if anyone could either find it for me so I can flash it, it would be appreciated.
+1, I've been hearing good things about battery life with this. I'm very interested.
just use fresh 3.2 or pick the kernel out that rom and flash it via fastboot.
Id recommend just using a ROM that has been updated within the last few days. Most have the updated kernel. Btw wouldn't stock kernel be worse on battery than modified kernel, I'm pretty sure.
Baked snack kernel #6 is updated with latest kernel and battery life is great.

So far only Fresh 3.2nd and the leaked ota have the new Kernel. It's better on battery life than the custom ones. Problem is you'll be at 30 fps and HTC won't release the source until the rom is actually released to the public.

Where did you see baked snack #6 is using the newest OTA stock kernel as a source? The change log in his thread makes no specific mention of that.
I believe fresh started a thread with the new version of 2.2 stock with the new kernel.
Here is the original that flipz.

So, are there any custom kernels for the newer EVO's? I'd like to overclock, but when I first rooted I was under the impression you could not run custom kernels. Just wondering if anything has changed.

Look at my Signatre. I am running Hboot 2.10 and HW 004 and am running Net's custom kernel's just fine. I haven't tried anything but the 4.3 files because those are made for the 004 HW because of the new camera. I also can run Ziggy's latest kernel's as well

I'll give that shot, thanks for the info. Do you setcpu or OC widget or just let it do its thing?
You should stay away from the sbc kernels. Trickle charge has been a hot topic this last week.

Yeah, I am definately staying away from that. Should I use HAVS or noHAVS? Not to sure what the diiference is. I know theres a thread that talks about all that but I can't find it.

on Netarchy you can run Setcpu, that's what I use. I setup a cpl of profiles, mainly charging, battery under 30% and screen off. I OC it to 1152. Anything over that my phone doesn't handle it, each phone is different (while creating custom profiles don't click the startup on start on the main screen . On Ziggy's kernels he runs a script so there is no need to run setcpu.
SBC kernels have been a heated topic, but they're still good kernels when you use them correctly. MS has a kernel called SBC #15 v7 that works with 0004 and hboot 2.10. I use it when I run Myn Warm rls5. I use netarchy 4.3 on MikFroyo.
Both work very well.
I just flashed koni's elite II rom (which is awesome) and i want a really fast kernel that's compatible, any suggestions?
any sense kernel. try a few. when i was on sense, i either used netarchy's newest cfs version, or one of ziggy's beta kernels (www.ziggy471.com). i also like calkulin's modded htc 15 kernel. try cyanogenmod nightly 7 stock kernel is new and beast. or try savagezen on aosp.
Thanks man
no problem
I wouldn't have advised him to use and AOSP kernel on a Sense rom.

i didnt.
" try cyanogenmod nightly 7 stock kernel is new and beast. or try savagezen on aosp."
i'd say thats clear enough. you can mock me for being wrong when he flashes savagezen over myns (which would totally be worth the pictures of fail that people would post btw)
I need to find a GB rom without the blue tooth bug that is in the newer CM7 rom's. What is the best alternative right now? I prefer an AOSP rom, but I guess I can deal with a sense rom. I'm a huge fan of CM but I really need this problem solved.

One option is to use an older cm nightly. 152 is confirmed to work. Have you tried kuskdeck's ROM or omgb/omfgb?

I actually just went with the stock + rom. I think I will just use this one until its confirmed that CM has fixed the blue tooth bugs.
Ok the stock + rom goes through batteries in about half the time of cm7 or bugless. I really need an aosp rom without this bug. Is their one yet that doesn't require additional steps to fix.

In a nut shell, it's kernel based. The newest stock cm-kernel, (and incredikernel, once I pointed tiny in the right direction), has it fixed, so grab the latest nightly or flash the latest incredikernel. This has been fixed for 2-3 days officially, and I had an unofficial patched kernel out about 11 days ago. To be a little more up to date on these matters, follow my thread on Rootz, which is handily linked in my signature
I just flashed CM7.1, and would like to use an SBC kernel.
Tried Tiamat 4.1.0, but seems there are camera issues ... video won't focus, and I had a reboot after playing back a video.
SavagedZen website seems down...?
What is a good kernel to use? (Or should I upgrade CM to latest nightly?)
Thanks!
what did you want out of a kernel? i ran cm7 a couple months ago i thought the kernel it used was pretty good itself
You should upgrade to the latest nightly; more up to date. i recommend Tiamat 4.1 or 3.3.7.

I would like SBC; as far as I know, CM kernel doesn't do SBC.

I'm on 238. You can check that [the changelog] and it'll show you all the new additions/fixes. Some of them aren't important, or for other devices. So I'd just flash the latest one for now,t hen you can reference that when you may want to update.
I use Savaged Zen. You can get it here on xda without having to go to the SVZ website.
