Newest HTC Kernel - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been looking all over but I can't seem to find the latest HTC Kernel and would prefer to use it. So if anyone could either find it for me so I can flash it, it would be appreciated.

+1, I've been hearing good things about battery life with this. I'm very interested.

just use fresh 3.2 or pick the kernel out that rom and flash it via fastboot.

Id recommend just using a ROM that has been updated within the last few days. Most have the updated kernel. Btw wouldn't stock kernel be worse on battery than modified kernel, I'm pretty sure.
Baked snack kernel #6 is updated with latest kernel and battery life is great.

So far only Fresh 3.2nd and the leaked ota have the new Kernel. It's better on battery life than the custom ones. Problem is you'll be at 30 fps and HTC won't release the source until the rom is actually released to the public.

Where did you see baked snack #6 is using the newest OTA stock kernel as a source? The change log in his thread makes no specific mention of that.

I believe fresh started a thread with the new version of 2.2 stock with the new kernel.

Here is the original that flipz.

If you haven't tried chad's incredikernel:
http://chad0989.dyndns.org/2.6.32.27-incredikernel-12232010-plus25v.zip
then I suggest you give it a go.
Use it without setCPU, at least at first. It has one built in so you really don't need one, if you find it too sluggish or you think you can set it better then put it on after you gave the whole Kernel a good run without it.
I find this Kernel very fast and the best for battery life that I've tried.

Not many of those. Really CM7 is the only one I've found worthy of flashing.
Try the RC1
(If you go with AOSP then you will need a different kernel than listed above)
Thanks guys for the replies.
I will try #8 tonight, also on chad's Kernels I have read the same and will be trying that one as well. I'm really liking Senseless 2.0 with Launcher pro Plus
Yeah I understand that with a sense rom you have to have a sense Kernel and with AOSP rom an AOSP kernel. Question though. IF i did decide to try and AOSP ROM, that AOSP rom should/would come with a new Kernel right? Just don't flash Lou's stuff/sense kernel after that.. only flash another AOSP Kernel. Is that right?
I have the Droidx so this Kernel stuff is new to me lol.. still learning.

You got it Most/all ROMs for the Inc come with a kernel included. I personally like the one CM7 RC1 comes with, gives me great battery life
Ziggy's 12111 beta
If I flash to incredikernel from Lou's #4 I just need to wide delvic cache correct?

Can I use a custom kernel on the stock HTC Rom?

I really like being rooted and I used cyanogenmod 7 release candidate for at least a week and I missed stock so I flashed it back. I really don't know much about kernels, so I was wondering if a custom kernel would work on the stock Rom and change much of it?
Yes. You need a Sense based kernel.

I would recommend Lou's #8 or Chads, both run great on stock roms.
This one is nice and stable

[Q] Should I update my kernel?

I am just wondering if I should update my kernel? I have been rooted since day one and I don't believe I have ever accepted any updates. I have also been running the MikG 2.1 rom for many months. The kernel I currently have is 4.54.651.1. I saw that I can download 4.67.651.3. I know there are also lots of others out there.
Will there be a big advantage to this, or should I just leave it alone. I am about to update to the MikG 3.1 rom in a few minutes is the reason I am looking.
Thanks.
Every rom you flash comes with a kernel, or it wouldn't boot. Just flash the mik rom you want, it will have what you need.
Now if you wanna ask about updating your radio, that's a whole different thing, and depending on how old your radio is, it is possible you may need to update your radio. But I'm guessing since you're on a relatively recent rom already, you won't have an issue with your current radio.
The only time I read that I HAD to update my radio to flash a particular rom was when the rom was built off a new OTA (going from froyo to GB), I believe. But that may have not even been true/necessary.

You shouldn't "need" to update kernel. Many kernels available do have some improvements over the stock in regards to lower voltage for better battery performance, ability to over clock, other performance tweaks as well as hdmi stuff. Maybe none of those features will interest you but the option is there, flash a custom kernel and if you don't like it, flash the stock kernel. User experiences vary, you are the best judge of performance.
I was unsure about flashing a kernel for a while, it can be a little intimidating but u won't regret upgrading your Kernel. I eventually moved onto building my own kernel.
If you looking for a good sense kernel I would recommend Lionfish. Freedom and Chop Suey also are good kernels.

Look for gingertiny kernel, or incredikernel. You can find both here http://www.incredikernel.com/?page_id=10, along with incredicontrol and app for tweaking kernel settings.
