Ok. For some reason today when I plug my phone to my PC nothing is happening. Nothing on the phone or computer. It is charging so nothing is wrong. I checked the settings and I didn't see anything out of wack. It didn't happen last night. Usually when I plug it up a notification comes up on my phone and a pop up on my PC. Neither has happened. Anyone know a solution?
i was wondering the same thing at one point and one member(i think it nobreak) informed that it was due to miguels overclock kernel...hope this helps. but you can always boot into recovery and mount sd card, that still works.

Here is what happened on my month new Galaxy Nexus.
1. Listening to mp3 via Bluetooth headset
2. Playing a game
3. Standing up
4. On a train
Sound stopped working across everything, in the game and on the mp3. Tried killing the applications and reloading, the mp3 player refused to even start the mp3.
Rebooted the phone, well, I turned it off. It has never turned back on. Tried removing the battery, all that, nothing.
Got home, tried plugging in the USB into a PC. Nothing. Tried booting into recovery mode, nothing, other than the PC claiming to have found a new device.
I haven't plugged it into a PC in recovery mode before. I haven't even seen recovery mode on the Galaxy Nexus.
I was running OTA Vodafone UK 4.0.2 I hadn't even considered rooting it or anything.
Anyone know if this is salvageable or had the same happen to them?
Hi. If popping the battery does no good I'd get it replaced without any further investigation. Sounds like hardware fail, so long as you are sure you have not got it wet or caused any damage to it.

If you cant bring it back on after a battery pull then its a dead phone for sure
I had the same problem last month. An usb jig solved the problem.
USB Jig?
Any more details? Something you can point me at?
Cheers

Appropriate?
So does the phone show anything at all? Does the screen come up for any amount of time? Can you get into bootloader?
So for completeness I have exactly this issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384415
Basically this paragraph:
An item under "Other Devices" called "OMAP4440" keeps appearing and dissapearing all the time, with the little "!" mark next to it indicating that there is a driver error. The drivers for this phone are fully installed on this same PC, and it use to work fine before it went dead.

Sounds like a USB Jig might do it. But in this case its back to vodafone and jumping through those hoops.
For the record I hadn't done anything at all to the phone than a normal consumer would. i.e. no rooting, hacking, booting, fruiting or cheesing.
It just died.
This is my second post regarding the topic, the first had no replies so I thought I'd rephrase it and narrow it down.
I got my phone about 3 weeks ago. Installed a new ROM, didnt like it so I switched to mrRobinson's "ATT Stock + root" ROM. It was working great. All of a sudden the USB connection no longer works for data. I can plug it in and it charges, however windows doesnt recognize it as connected. I even tried ODIN and it did not see it. I've tried it on 2 PC's, different cables, and reinstalled drivers on both machines, still nothing. I asked about this on a couple of forums and heard no responses at all, out of desperation I downloaded via the airwaves some ATT update hoping it would fix it. All it did was unroot it.
The last time the USB worked, I was using it to xfer a bunch of files over. I was running out of time so I cancelled the copy and unhooked the phone (perhaps too soon?!?). The external 32GB SD Card was initially not recognized (however I tried a 2GB card and it worked). My battery died over the weekend and after I charged it up it started reading the 32GB SD card again. I thought the USB would work too, but it didnt. PLEASE HELP!
I also installed ADB and tried to do adb reboot, it said "error: device not found".
Everything else in the phone works fine. I have no other issues except for the USB one. Any ideas? I will PayPal you $10 if you can solve my problem (unless its hardware of course!). This is frustrating. Is there some setting I flipped?
I had similar issues. Try unticking USB debugging, plug it in and see if your storage pops up or if drivers start to install. Unplug and turn debugging back on and plug in. If still no adb, leave it plugged in and go to device manager and see if it recognizes the phone as anything. It may show ur phone with a yellow exclamation and if so right click and update drivers. if nothing works try a factory reset and try again. Hope this helps!!

You may want to check with a magnifying glass to see if anything in the port is bent; I've seen a few posts where the cable was taken out kind of abruptly and tweaked the usb port.
Thank you all for the help... I fixed it.
I had to leave the battery out of the phone and let the memory reset. It must have been something that was stuck in there. I am dontating $5 to a lucky developer (they didnt help me with the problem, just wanted to give back to the community).
I had noticed that initially it wasnt reading the 32GB SD Card, it did read a 2GB SD I had lying around.... The phone eventually ran out of juice and after I charged it the SD card was recognized. I imagine it had something to do with something in memory after that happened. I was talking with a coworker and he mentioned taking the whole battery out. I had done that before, but only for a few minutes, this time I left it out for 30min.
I plugged it back in and viola! everything was working.
Hope this helps someone else.
Okay before yall rage at me, I already search XDA+Google. I think I found some answers to it, but there seems to be some confusion about my problem...So I wanna ask you guys DHD/I4G users.
My problem is that when I connect my phone to the computer, my phone doesnt detect USB anymore. this happened way back before, but somehow it worked again.
I have 3 new different USB Data Cables. I tried all three of them to see if it was my MAIN USB Cable Data that was broken. It wasnt.
I tried connecting it to 2 other computers in my house and still no luck.
So when I was searching, people said that this problem can be from...
-hardware problem(broken) (but i dont think its broken cause my phone is still able to charge.)
-rom with bad download.
And there were some suggestions to what I should do...
-super wipe your phone and re-install a new rom
-take the micro sd put it in your computer format the SD card.
-take battery out for 30 seconds then put it back in.
-return to stock
-reinstall HTC drivers
however all those methods did not work at all.
The thing is my phone still charges on whatever USB or Computer I plug it into.
Also, this problem happened to me awhile back but somehow it was fixed..IDK how I did it.
Also sometimes, my computer detects it, but it says "something has malfunctioned).
my phone has never got in contact with any form of liquid. but what i think has touched my phone is heat or sweat from my pants.
Edit: also, I never dropped my phone before.
Is this a hardware problem? because as I said it before this happened to be awhile back but I was able to get USB detected to my computer again.
Can anyone give me more methods/information on how or what I should do to fix it?
Phone details
- Device: Inspire 4g
- Rom: Aospx BR7
- default Ril from the rom
- radio : in my signature
- phone about 1 and half years old
It seems you have already ruled out software and cable/computer issues. It is possible for a device to have intermittent failure. Sounds like a bad sd reader. Charger runs seperate from that.
Could also be the PC hardware. What PC OS are you using?

I tried on three different computer which all are Windows 7 32 and 64 bits.
EDIT: somehow when I plugged it in my computer, it detected for few seconds then turned off.
Have you tried cleaning your phones port?

ummmm all I did was just blow on it(sounds wrong, LOL).
oh yeah and also, i always hear that sound when you connect any USB into the computer. that beeping noise. but only when I reboot my phone.
I could always transfer files by using the Micro SD Adapter, but thats too much work. taking my phone case out, taking out the bottom part, taking out usb, putting it in the adapater, then in the computer....-_-
update.
I kind of found a solution?? if i can take any step further...
So I changed my rom to a sense 4 rom(virtuous). I disabled Fast Boot from there. Now my computer detects my phone but it gives me the notification saying that my device cant be recognized.
U can use software data cable app its free .. and u can nove data between phone n pc wirelessly as long as you are in the same network ...

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic Touch for Virgin Mobile I'm selling to a friend of mine. It's been working great for me for about the last year on VM. It was rooted and running Liquid Smooth and then CM 10.1 (both using CWM). When I called VM to transfer the phone to my friends account we ran into a road block because CM doesn't respond to the keypad phone codes VM uses to update the phone, or have the VM hands free activation apps.
I figured I might as well flash back to stock ROM anyway. I downloaded the ROM from here.
Odin got about 75% of the way through the flash and then failed. The phone won't turn off but instead keeps up a persistent splash screen asking me to connect the phone to Kies to do a system recovery (Which I did try and Kies can't seem to complete the connection. It sees the phone but can't connect to it, even after ensuring all drivers are up to date. But then I've never had much success with Kies).
I can still get into Odin on my phone so I tried downloading the .exe ROM instead of the md5 this time, but by the time the ROM downloaded Odin tells me the battery is too low to flash anything (which I believe). Problem is I can turn the phone off to let it charge properly (it pops up with the Kies message whenever I plug the phone in).
I've left the phone plugged into the wall hoping that maybe it is in fact charging, but the indicator light only flashes for a second when I plug it in. I'm working a double shift today so I left the phone at home hoping it will charge so that I can try flashing again, but does anybody have any experience with this sort of problem, or know if the phone will in fact charge?

The easy options are to borrow a battery from a friend with a s2 phone, or get a charger off ebay, or buy a new battery from the store which will probably come with a partial charge.
Sounds like your usb port may have died. That happens sometimes.
I was thinking of borrowing a battery. I have a friend with the same phone, so that's possible.
If the USB charger failed, however, would the blue charging light still flicker on when first plugged in? Because that's what it does. It doesn't charge, but it does seem to acknowledge that it's been plugged in. Also, when plugged into the computer it will still flash the plug me into Kies screen, but now my computer doesn't seem to even recognize that anything is plugged in.

It is possible. I had a phone that the data burnt out on, but would still charge. Just one pin needs to be bad to cause some issues, but not break everything.
Could just be the battery is totally empty too. Getting a known good battery with a charge is the first step to troubleshoot this.
I have encountered this problem a time or two before when testing some of my many attempted multiwindow mods, the device will in fact charge, but it is going to take forever. After a double shift I would imagine you'd have enough charge to flash properly, so try it again afterwards. Also have you attempted to return to recovery? If Odin only partially completed, your custom recovery may still be there and you might be able to use the power off option from recovery, while the device is plugged in, and possibly tricking it into not powering on to the error screen.
WARNING! Everything in blue is simply conjecture and has not been proven to work, it is simply a working theory. If it does not work don't say I didn't warn you.
So my phone is no longer being recognized as a USB device by my computer. Whenever I plug my phone in, I don't see the USB storage option on the top of my phone, nor will my computer even acknowledge that it's been plugged in. This issue has never happened to me before, and it only started acting up just last night. It isn't an issue with the computer OR the cable; I've tried with many different PCs and cables, both third party and official, and I'm getting the same problem. I don't think it's an issue with a broken microusb port, either, since it still charges. Interestingly enough, the computer WILL notice that something has been inserted when I plug it in... if the phone is off. However, the phone only shows up as an unknown device. Also, when I check the battery status, it almost always says that I'm charging via AC even though I'm using USB.
After exploring the forum, I've discovered and tried using *#7284#, but the code refuses to work. (I also tried other codes just to see HOW they work, and none of them will register on my phone.)
I'm currently running CM 7.1, and my phone is rooted. I haven't changed the ROM ever since I started using it, which was about a good year or so ago, and I seldom do any sort of flashing, so I highly doubt it's related to that.
Any suggestions? I thought it might be a dirty microusb port, since I've also been getting the random Car Mode popups as of late, but after cleaning it out, nothing seems to have changed.
