Im using an sbc kernel on extended battery and use battery monitor widget to watch my charge. The phone gets to 100% amd then i continue to let it charge all through the night and when i wake up and look at the widget the battery constantly stays at 4196mn-4198mv. The battery gets the full charge to where it stays positive pulling 0mA-2mA to keep it full, but it never charges to a "FULL" charge. Why is this and how can i get it stay at 4200mv or more? Ive calibrated the battery multiple times many different ways as suggested by others and still not the full charge im looking for.

4200 is full. You don't want to charge it over that. Don't worry about missing a couple mV. It's perfectly normal.
I c. Id like to see it at 4200 though, so how can accomplish that?

You probably can't.
I need like the tutorial on maH, etc with battery widget. Like, now I'm at 100% showing 454mA, 4150mV. I have no CLUE what that means.

mAH is the number of milliamps that a battery can provide over a certain period of time. We have a 1500 mAH battery. In theory, if a phone were drawing a steady 1500 mA, the phone's battery would last an hour. The 454 mA you saw is a snapshot of how much power your phone is drawing at the moment it was measured, and it will fluctuate. If your phone stayed at 454 mA, you'd probably get about 3 hours of battery life. When my phone is asleep and idle, it usually draws about 50-100 mA.
To the OP, I did actually see 4.2 mV today on my phone as it approached 100%, but I really don't think it's something to worry about. It actually had dropped back down to 4.19X (x=something, don't remember) by the time it hit full. The mAH rating is what determines if you're full, I believe. If that's at 1500 (or in your case, whatever the extended battery's capacity is), you're good.
Thanks, man!! I Was just getting ready to put up a post asking for an explanation of the maH thing and how to read what the Battery Monitor Widget is telling me

Mines gets over 4200 but not by much. Really I would prob be happier if it bumped 4200 and stopped but I have no adverse affects. Its charging cool enough to make me happy

1.How many hours should i charge it for the first time when i take it out of the box?
I would say charge it until the light turns green
Light goes green. Done.
All this charging for hours and hours before you first use it malarky goes back to NiCad days and does not apply to Li-ion batteries.
I left it to charge overnight, but I don't think it matters with Li-Ion batteries
Li-Ion batteries doesn't need that initial 8 hours charge.
I remember reading article on engadget saying you can charge in whichever way you like thanks to nowadays battery technology.

I know about the memory effect of older battery technology and how it isn't present (well, it's so small as to not count) but I still charge my phone regularly and leave it plugged in for at least an hour or two after the charge light turns green. I'm not the heaviest of phone users, probably very light to medium, but I get a day easily. This is from last night when I got the 15% or less charge remaining message...

I shrank the image to avoid it looking overly large. I'd like to point out I'm using stock firmware, no overclocking or underclocking and while this was longer than most charges I'm usually getting between 22 - 30 hours between charges. You might be able to do the same and get nothing like this, I'm just passing on my experiences
Well can you show us the screen on time and also whether during that 1 day and 15 hours was it on heavy internet usage?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Not now I can't because that was posted before I went to bed and the times reset when I took the charger out. As I said I'm not a very heavy user at all, I'd put myself in a perfect tablet user market but I'm waiting for better options to come out. Judging from my usage I'd have to guess at around between one and two hours screen on time. A lot of my use is basically checking a few things online, Twitter for example, reading a few articles on Engadget and the odd YouTube video.
I'm not saying the battery life is great or that using it this little is normal, but I don't purposely avoid using it to stretch the battery out so this is typical for my use.
I got a letter from my provider saying you should charge the phone for 14 hours i only charged it until the light was green 3/4 cycles of usual charging should get the battery working at optimum level.
hi all,
i noticed the charge curve on my evo is not linear. at first it's logarithmic and then linear (see pic). everything is off (3g/4g, wifi, bluetooth, sync) while charging (only turning on once in a while to check the %). is this normal?
ive wiped my battery stats and done all that. during use, the battery drops to 60% quickly and then discharges slower. im using deck's gb 1.3 rom, havent changed the kernel, no wake lock issues as far as i can tell.

I was having the same exact issue. I bought a new battery and figured it must be bad when it would jump from 80 percent to full in a matter of minutes. Then it would discharge to around 70 percent in a matter of an hour. After it hit 70 percent it would discharge more slowly. This was a battery that the Sprint store gave me and I was led to believe it was new. After it did this weird charging discharging issue I went back to sprint and this time received a brand new battery in the package. The young lady behind the counter showed me a box full of all types of used batteries and explained they probably pulled one out of the box of the used batteries. I exchanged my original battery because it wasn't fully charging anymore but the weird charging spike I got with the replacement battery was a first for me. Anyway the "NEW" battery is working like it should so you may be looking at a bad battery.
I know you said you wiped battery stats but did you calibrate the battery at all?
oop. forgot all about this post. thanks for your responses.
i assumed something weird may have happened from my going stock to root so i checked out a friends battery. he never rooted his phone. unfortunately i get the same charge curve.
yes, i have calibrated my battery/ ie, charge to full, wipe stats, then drain phone til shut off.
i will try contacting sprint/htc for a new battery and see how that goes.
anyone else have this issue?
Me, all the time. Have yet to have a different curve ever. Mine happens a little higher though, around 70%. Try battery monitor widget and you can see the actual charging voltage

After you drain the battery completely, charge it to 100% without unplugging. Recalibrate with that method and see if it helps.

I bought the Chichitec 2500mAh extended battery pack and they work very well. I get on average a minimum of 4hr screen on with lowest brightness as oppose to 2hrs and change with the stock. I also use jucedefender and I rarely talk on the phone. I would recommend them.

I have that one, it isn't bad, but it isn't great either.
Typical Chinese quality (Samsung is spelled Sanmsung and Galaxy is spelled Galyxa when you actually get it).
Battery life is, well, I dunno. It's hard to say. My phone was at 57% charge, I turned on the extended case and without any use it charged my phone back to 100% no problem but the extended battery was pretty much dead. I'm sure it works better when both the phone and extended are charged to 100%. The AC/DC converter inside the case is VERY inefficient and gets VERY hot. Don't even bother attempting to charge the extended battery while the phone is in it, I'm suspecting it will catch fire or melt lol...
I like how it has a power button and the kick stand works. The case is very sung and everything lines up properly so for build quality I give it a 10.
The USB port pass through is CHARGE ONLY, data pins are missing so it kinda sucks if you use OTG devices or need to plug it into the PC to transfer files etc. But all in all you get what you pay for.
My friend has the Hyperion 4200mah with NFC. It works excellent, double the battery life. He usually gets 3-4 days with normal use out of the phone without charging (but that depends on person to person).
Here are some of my hyperion 4200mah stats

Hello, I have the problem that no matter which charger / charge cable ,the phone takes at least 3 hours to charge 0% -> 100%, the battery once charged gives me life 3-4hs sot (screen on time). Thanks

Sounds like your battery is bad. If you have the phone/battery for about a year or less, it's possible the battery is defective. If you have another battery use that one, but if you have a new battery you will need to cycle charge the battery. This means you have to charge from 0 to 100, let it deplete completely and keep doing the same thing for about 3-6 charges. This effectively breaks in a battery giving you the best longevity.

sorry to revive this thread but did a new battery work for you? I'm experiencing similar problems since the MM update, without fast charging enabled it charges at about 600mah, with fast charging enabled its about 1000mah but tapers off to 400mah once it gets to 85%
I'm not sure if its my battery or if this is a new "feature" of MM, last time that i charged from 30% it took 4 hours to reach 100% if anyone got a suggestion let me know.
3-4 hours is great compared to mine. If I use the USB cable, it'll take about 12+ hours (0-100%). Problem started after I dropped the phone. Luckily wireless charging takes about 5 hours.
Used to be no more than 2 hours before, not sure what the problem is, the battery is only a year old

Please vote mentioning your charge cycle count along with actual capacity vs the rated capacity of 4905 mAh/18.88 Wh
That's an interesting topic. With my P4 XL, I won the actual capacity lottery and had a phone that started with 109% capacity.
My P6 Pro has (according to 3 weeks of Accubattery) about 102% actual capacity (~5110 mAh) after 21 sessions with ~1100% charged (~ 55000 mAh).
The design capacity by the way, as you can see in your screenshot, is 5003 - not 4905 as per your statement.
4905 is the MINIMUM amount that Google accepts/offers, 5003 is the "typical"
-> (typical = design)
I'd give it a 3.6
Not great, not terrible.
Wondering how everyone's battery capacity has been doing. Out of the box Accubattery stabilized around 99% for me but now after 4 months I've dropped to 95% (4755mah). This is much faster degredation than I typically see on my devices. 95% of the time the phone is between 20-80% charge, my chargers shut off at 80% unless I know I'm going to need the extra capacity. My unit runs hot quite often and Im thinking that it is wearing out the battery with all the heat. Curious what other users are seeing after some months of ownership.

Good to hear you are having more luck, 1-2% per year is what I am used to seeing on past devices under similar usage patterns.
