Hello,
I'm following XDA forum since 1 year... but I always found difficult to surf over the forum... luckily you always improved the navigability, it's a very big forum with a lot of Threads and now is almost perfect, but never changed a little but important thing.
When I look for an Android ROM it's great to choose between SD or NAND section, but could be better choose the Android distro too:
Android Development
-SD
Eclair
Froyo
Gingerbread
-NAND
Eclair
Froyo
Gingerbread
Because if I'm interested to a specific distro I don't have to browse through all those threads which are not concerned
I hope my suggestion will be accepted

Hi guys !
Today i release for you an Valina Rom Hero based in Android System 2.0 (Eclair)
This rom very clear and not including Applications part , just kernel and boot base in Android 2.0
This release for other peoples can use this one as base rom for build your own rom 2.0
Download here
Cheers !
Tom
pls rapidshare upload !
hmm Might to be good to explain how this differs (if at all) from Lox_Dev's AOSP 2.0 ROM yesterday, which seemed pretty vanilla to me!
just a note: you forgot to put the [ROM] in front of the title. i opened this thread getting ready to flame some noob about asking for a vanilla eclair rom just kidding, but it might help your thread not drowning between the new 2.0 and 2.1 rom threads...

Thx for the hard work, can you just clarify, what is working and what is not working?
Yeah, it would be nice to know the differences.
Also, do you have the build environment you used to construct it? A clean base is good to start from.
Hi Tom!,
All Hero users must be happy to got you developing roms to our device!!.
I will flash this night.
Thank you very much for your work.

@ tom_condo - thanks for the release. nice to see the hero development rom advancing!!
@ the rest- the rom is more or less the same as the first release of behnaam's one. Rom is with htc sense but without google applications and without some of htc's ones as well such as people, weather, calender...
It's worth to try it. just make a nandroid backup, try it out and restore your backup.
it takes 10 minutes.
Hi there.
I would like to know which official based 2.2 ROM you are using. There are so many to choose from with many different options. So it would be nice to map all those users.

Still using Pays v1.1, eagarly waiting for the official OTA 2.2 update.
Yes I realized that. Now I'm looking for an option on how to edit the poll...
Using ROM by ieftm, eagerly awaiting a sense rom with stock dailer and contacts.
I really like nickerberli's ROM. It's just like stock, but with root and busybox. Perfect! I like to add modifications myself, so I think this is the best and cleanest ROM out there.
Great work!
It looks like most of those are just rooted.
Some missing system apps, but they are pretty much all identical.
Pretty pointless

For now
I'm wait for LeeDrOiD Mod 1.7
Using the 2.2 based ROM from @nickerberli atm, seems to be working fine so far.
I'm still on Neophyte 1.4a which is vastly different to his other rom. You need to add this to the poll

Well, surely if they make one unbranded, clean rom, having all developers contribute to it creating a community rom.
This would be easier for me to find a standard rooted 2.2 without bloatware. Especially at such an early stage of releasing 2.2 sense where all the roms are near enough the same. Cant wait for the MCR kitchen tbh, so all this rant is mainly out of frustration.
But a community kitchen, where u can select different features of different roms would be nice, such as the brilliant cyanogen features of the non sense froyo ontop of something like defrost, which just...works (amazing well)
The title contains the word "official" so there should be only ROMs released after 01.08.2010 and based on 2.09 in the list.
2.06 was not "official" as far as I know.
If I am wrong, then why is LeeDroid not on that list?
It's my favourite and according to this poll one of the most popular.
trying ... NexTSense_2.0a_Official_OTA_2.2_FRF91_by_NeoPhyTe_without_radio.zip
tried ...DanneJo_rom_v1-Orginal_HTC_2.2_Sense.zip
I use #1 atm and it's great. I will most likely go back to the great neophyte once there's an 2.2 official (2.09) version out.

New Bravo gingerbread rom

I saw this rom a while ago on the Desire forum.
Is this rom ok to flash ( i would presume not)?
I would also assume that it would need to be rooted, busybox, smartass etc.

What I really want to know is -
Is RCMixS v2.1 D2EXT same as other one , just with D2EXT instead of A2SD?
Is RCMix Sv2.1 D2EXT a GB ROM or not ?
Thanks,
1) Yes.
2) RCMix S is the Desire S rom, at least I think so, so yes. It is a GB rom.

Thanks mate ! But both should work on a non-S HTC Desire as well ?
Also as D2EXT ROM does not have much info , I am assuming it would have all features as other A2SD ROM with D2EXT in place of A2SD . Can anyone confirm that plz..
Cheers!!
Hi,
I'm using the D2EXT ROM right now.
The difference is literally Data2EXT and the Robocik official is A2SD. Nothing else is different. They're one and the same.
I would avoid the 2.1 ROM for now as it is in testing and Robocik has family issues at home at the moment and is unavailable to continue work (his son had an accident, he's going to be ok, though)
The v2.0 is perfectly stable. I was using the official Evolutionary Sense v2.0 ROM for a month before I ran out of Internal Storage, then the D2EXT version popped up (it's like he was reading my mind...)
Advice? Go for the v2.0 Data2EXT. It's the second set of links in the thread.
Oh and the S bit isn't for the Desire S. It's because it's a Sensation Port, as far as I know.

Thanks Meaple. I did had a read and the only change i can see from change log is fixed htc ime and calender widget. So I can live with that , starting 2.0 download now.
Couple of more questions
1. What is Transparent Sense ?
2. Do we have any good themes like Alex's Expresso that wud work with this ?
3. Which is better performance wise (read stable/fast) D2EXT 2.0 or A2SD 2.0 ???
Cheers!!
v2.1 is unofficial and is actually v2.0 test 4. I've read a lot of people having problems with it, with it being a test version, so I've stayed clear for now.

A1: Transparent Sense - The clue is in the title; the Sense UI is transparent (some elements)
A2: Alex's Expresso - Yes

If you have further questions, refer to the 'RCMix Guide' this includes all versions of RCMix including 'RCMix S'.
There are quite a few ROMs available, but one thing is not entirely clear to me. Why aren't there any clean AOSP ROMs for the Wildfire? I can understand it would be difficult to develop newer Android versions like Gingerbread that were never officially released for the Wildfire, but wouldn't it be relativly easy to compile a working ROM from the 2.2/2.2.1 source code? Or am I completely missing the point here?
It seems to me all the materials are available to pull this off without too much effort, right? The Kernel source is available from HTC and the Froyo source from our friends at Google.
From what I understand there are also some vendor specific issues that need to be solved, but the Cyanogen developers apparently have this solved already.
That pretty much covers everything right?
So my question would be, is it possible to easily build a clean version of Froyo for the Wildfire by doing the following:
1. Grab the kernel source from HTC and compile it (or just fuse a pre-compiled one seeing as there are quite a few available).
2. Compile the Android 2.2/2.2.1 source
3. Apply vendor specific fixes (assuming they don't have to be incorperated in the code directly).
4. Flash kernel + ROM, thereafter Gapps
5. win?
Basically something like Openfire without bugs. Which reminds me, wouldn't the video recording/SIM card issues be fixed with the official HTC kernel? In which case, I see little reason to try and compile the stuff by myself.
Ah well, I really really hope someone can enlighten me on this subject.
TL;DR: I want to create a basic a clean AOSP Froyo 2.2/2.2.1 ROM which should be easy right because we already have the required materials (proper HTC kernel -- or third party one, 2.2/2.2.1 source, cyanogen vendor fixes), so compile = good to go?
there are

There is always CM7
Remember you use these at your own risk
Thank you for your reply, but it doesn't really address my questions. I am aware of the custrom ROMs available, none of them really meet my demands.
Cyanogenmod is an excellent ROM, but CM6 has some issues and CM7 is based of Gingerbread.
Utmost and Wildmix are both based on Openfire. The problem with Openfire is that it has a lot of internal stuff I don't really like. Seeing as Utmost and Wildmix are based on it those don't really float my boat either.
My eventual goal would be to create a clean AOSP like this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1162656
Unfortunately it's based on Gingerbread and not fully functional (yet!).
That is why I asked the questions that I asked. I'd rather do it myself from scratch, but in order to do any work I could really use an answer to my questions
Thanks anyways.

But gingerbread is much better than froyo and compatible to nearly all apps you can have

Anyway what's wrong with gingerbread??
I figured since 2.2.1 is the last available official version released it would be easier to get all hardware functioning properly. But if those new ginger AOSP projects fix the video recording bugs and get everything else fixed, ill gladly switch to it. Maybe ill use xdbg's (spelling?) ginger aosp as a base as soon ss the bugs are fixed.
