Hi guys, currently on LeeDroid's Sense ROM, the battery life is awful though, can anyone recommend the best ROM for battery life?
I've just spent the past couple of hours putting Oxygen ROM on and all my apps only to find APPS2SD didn't work (and I can't find a setting for it) and the video camera doesn't do 720p (important for me)
Can anyone recommend a good ROM with decent battery? (2.2 or above)
cheers
Im using CM7, kernel and radio in signature. (i think 720p recording is working, not sure im not using it)
81% battery after 21hours, im not using the phone much but still i think its pretty good.
SetCPU on Smartass 384-998mhz, and Screen Off 123-384Mhz profile.

cheers, looks like the maximum is 720x480 though (rather than 1280x720) and it can't play back 720 video either

I recently compared some rom's battery drain (Redux, CM, Oxygen, UD, Leedroid) when the phone is sleeping (cause i think it's the only usage you can really compare) with Battery widget, and there is no doubt for me that Leedroid has one of the lowest battery drain if not the lowest in sleeping mode (only 1mA in airplane mode during the night,3 to sometimes 5 with gsm on). Maybe that should not be the only usage to consider, but as you also want 720p, my advice would be : don't change anything, keep Leedroid !
720p on Desire is like using 12mpix setting on a cheap Digital camera, it's crappy and takes more space. Desire isn't powerful enough for smooth HD video display anyway.

the one on LeeDroid is very smooth, no skipped frames. OK, the bitrate isn't ideal (but neither is SD on the phone), but it will do me in times when it's all I have on me when out with my kids. I've had HD since my first was born 4.5 years ago and have never filmed them in SD, all home videos are on Blu-ray (and PS3 HDD) with a minimum of 720p.
I will be moving to the LG 3D or Evo 3D (which ever is out 1st in the UK) as soon as I can
+1 LeeDroid
I've tried a few different roms including CM7 - after all the hype I was shocked when I flashed CM7 only to find it laggier than LeeDroid... That was with a clean slate as well. Straight back to LeeDroid...
On battery life I can't speak for CM7, but LeeDroid has the lowest battery drain IMO. I'm also using Juice Defender which helps a LOT.

cheers guys, guess I'll stick with LeeDroid then and survive with 8 hours battery life
8 hours?
Are you running with wifi/bluetooth/apn/gps on all the time?
Have you tried calibrating your battery?

What do you guys think about the battery life on this device?
Speaking by my own experience it's pretty okey - not on the upper front of the existing devices, but neither on the lower front. It's pretty mediocre, right?
But that doesn't make me satisfied, I believe it's to short.

By playing a wifi conected game, mine is up to 5-6h I think. Otherwise, It's like yours, 12h.
Hum... With regular usage (about 30min games a day + 2h music + normal stuff like calls and SMS, including about 1,5h of Wi-fi on) mine lasts about 36h, if playing games all the time, around 10-12h. But well, it's underclocked for "screen off", so even when the music is playing, the CPU is only running at 368MHz.
I'm quite happy with this stats so I have nothing to complain.

What kernel are you using ? and are you using the stock Rom ?
No, I'm not using the stock ROM. I'm using TuxBrothers' EUR XXLA2 ROM OC which comes with this kernel. Of course the fact that I set low brightness also matters a lot since the display is what consumes most energy anyway. Right now it has been on for 29 hours and has 28% battery left.
for me i think the battery life is fair enough, my phone is up for 19 hours w/ 40% left, internet, games, usual stuff, underclock on screen off, overclock @ 1800 sometimes , and w/ low brightness, im using cowithgun's OC rom
I find it amazing compared to my SGS2.
My wife's W, with low usage, no data on but WiFi always on, running standard Juice Defender will get 4+ days if no app has gone runaway or otherwise.
Very stock on latest XEU standard firmware.
Well I might agree with you that it's more than okey. In fact, it's really good compared to the other phones. - Changed my opinion about this subject, hehe.
Does anyone know if this new myth about battery draining too fast on KEZRA V4 is true? I feel it draining a little fast too, but I'm not sure.
I know it's been asked before a million time, but I don't have an Inc my daughter does. she has been running cm7 for the longest time. but it's gotten really bad as time had gone on. I have seen the list of ROM and it is huge, all I care about is battery.. dont matter is it AOSP, sense, senseless etc.
Can you please suggest the rom with the best battery like.
Thanks
Running MIUI with incredikernel with smartass 2 enabled and 128 min, I can go 2 full days with medium use till I need to charge again. But what works for me might not be the same for you or anyone else, that all depends on what all you have running/syncing in the background, how many times it syncs, network data, etc.

If she is using the same stock battery that came from the phone, it's likely that now it can only hold 60-80% of the original charge- depending on her use.
Maybe consider dropping a few bucks on a 1900mah battery (fits in stock casing).

I would stick with CM7, and make sure you're using the incredikernel. Try flashing the predefined "undervolt" file. If she has reboots, then just revert it and no worries.
even i also have found that CM7 is the best for battery life

Going to have to +1 that. CM7 definitely has had the best battery life on my phone, and I've flashed a ton of ROMs. I'm also running Incredikernel with smartassv2, which I think helps a lot.

Recent Anthem 3.0 can hold amazing charges, the OP had a 54 hour charge, someone also had a 20+ charge.
I'm guessing she uses it alot, Cm7 for me has been nothing but bad battery. Drains within an hour of medium use.
My suggestion is give the Anthem 3.0 a try and see how you and her like it.

Try Inc-Deck 1.3. It's an offshoot of CM7.1 and it works great with incredikernel 3/21 ICS. Set the govenor to interactivex, the max frequency to 883, the screen brightness to 20%, the screen timeout to 15 seconds and cross your fingers that you live in an area with strong signal.
I get anywhere from 16-30 hours with that combo depending on how much data I use.
If your daughter does not use much data switch it off... an instant 3-6 hours battery boost.

I have to agree with this
Sent from my DrOiD InCrEdIbLe because its CoLd
Anecdotally, I have found battery life improves with two things: leaving the screen off as much as possible (screen always drags battery life) and using wifi when it's available (the comment on data usage is true, it's a drain).
Also, getting a second battery is always a good idea, adds to the versatility of your smart phone experience.
I've found that the older gingerbread and sense roms have better battery life.
I would look into Nils' Business Gingersense ROM, and PureMotive's Anthem ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1530687)
I prefer Anthem, and if you follow the instructions on his post (using gingertiny kernel, setting CPU speed) you can achieve excellent battery life.
I personally used Anthem with Tiny's kernel and got about 48 hours with regular use.
Alright so I have had some time on XDA without really contributing. In the past year I have owned 7 android phones and havent really done anything. My newest try is the NITRO HD which I bought with a broken screen but fixing it. I was skeptical because the Optimus 3D had the worst battery life of the 7 I've owned.
Always with LG phones the question is battery life, so I wanted to share a thread where you guys, the reviewers would post battery info screenshots with information on usage (heavy, moderate, light), which battery you are using, which ROM you are using, Battery brand and size
I will post my first battery review pictures as soon as I get the phone up and running with a custom ROM. You guys (or ladies for the ladies out there), if you want can go ahead and start posting.
Rules/Instructions
Post usage information, pictures or link to screenshot pictures, battery size in mAh, which rom you are using (if on nightly, just post nightly date) and I believe thats just about it. Let the games begin.... or Review
Also, to make it fair, charge battery to 100% and then begin regular usage and take screenshot at 20% battery left or lower
Finally I am on CM9 from 5/7
My battery is the extended hyperion (I think thats the name) 3800mAh
Under heavy usage with over 100 texts, a few 2 minute phone calls, screen on for about 1 hours in that entire cycle and also listening to music through Bluetooth headset for about 2 hours and few camera uses
Goal was 10 hours.
between 21% and 10%, I went super heavy pn the phone with youtube videos, web browsing, listening to some music, downloading apps, and facebook. screen was on the entire time.
Battery: Stock 1850 mAH
ROM: CM9 Nightly 04/30/12
CM9 seems to be getting better on the battery life to be honest. I'm actually getting through the work day and then some.
Those times are not bad at all! I thought it would be worse. I ordered a 3800 mAh battery and I'm also getting a stock with the phone. Ill put up pictures tomorrow night EST or Saturday afternoon EST.

jd ultimate
not sure why the big drop when i rebooted early in the cycle.
this is an average complete day for me of listening to music (with the screen off mostly) handling emails & phone calls, several brief surf sessions, news reading, playing temple run, chess, and table tennis several times each but briefly.

about what you are getting. I would say it is at least a 40% improvement.
THE curious part is that up until now I had assumed that improvement was due to how JD handles the screen brightness but my screen is only using 6% < than your screen (12% v 18%).
it doesn't seem to me that the savings from the screen adds up enough to = the 40%, but hard to tell, what do you think?
Yeah it's definitely more than just the screen brightness. When I used JD on gb before I didn't like it because it would not allow my Google+ messages to get through real time, even when I enabled screen off in the options..

WOW! that's on stock??? Thats great! now im thinking i should not have bought the extended (not a fan of bulky batteries) Anything more than 10 hours for me is enough and that got you to 15. And i didnt like JD ultimate on GB either. Im about to kdz my way back to rootable firmware and then flash cm9 nightly and have a try. (accidentally applied AT&T firmware update)
^Your standards are sort of low? 10 hours??? Phone should last a day (less sleep) - 16-17 hours. I have a skyrocket, a captivate, this P930, and now a one X and the battery life is just unacceptable on the P930. Bad enough I'm gonna have to ditch it.

Well everyone is different so yeah 10 hours is good enough for me. Just need something where i dont have to plug it in when im out of the house from 7 to 5 and thats fine. i got the extended anyway so it wont be bad but yeah i would be fine with 10 hours. also, the nitro, is actually not bad. im running stock and its not as slow as people make it seem. its definitely faster than my old infuse (over clocked and optimized with custom rom). The only doubts i had was the battery thats why i got the extended and have the stock as backup. but everyone is different. if you want to ditch it then its up to you, but its a good phone.

The main reason I HAD to switch to CM9 was that the colour gradients on the screen in gingerbread were driving me crazy. GB doesn't support the 1280x720 pixels our phone pushes, but ICS does

I agree, my post came off as sort of harsh, didn't mean it do. I'm just disappointed. I liked the Nitro so much, but something is seriously wrong with the battery life. The battery is plenty big, we make sure no apps are misbehaving....but the battery life is AWFUL. Waayyyyy worse than any similar phone. It's a bummer.
ok ok, we get it.

I wasn't droning and I can't see you at all. How do you get good battery life? How about contributing?
like you have?
^No, what I have is a problem. And since you have "good" battery life, I thought maybe you can share a solution. I wonder if there's a voltage issue or something with the stock kernel. We run the same chipset as the skyrocket, right?
I had been using CM7 for a while, and had great experience with it's battery life, sometimes lasting up to 3 days on a single charge.
But some things didn't work well, such as the barcode scanner, camera working eraticly, and the lack of PS Pocket.
So I get back to a stock based ROM, Xperia NXT. It's good on battery life, but not nearly as good as CM7.
I'm looking for something different. Just looking for opinions. One thing to note, DoomKernel SUCKS on my phone. Any time I install it, the battery is sucked dry in hours for some weird reason.
Any ideas?

IMHO AOKP (milestone 6) with Lupus#4-cfs clocked @ 1.3ghz with smartassV2 gives me great battery life. I can get 36 hours with moderate usage. full day with what I consider heavy usage.
Hey 1ce, I'm posting here because I can't post in the Shpongle thread.
First of all, the ROM is awesome, and it makes me love using my One V because of how smooth and fast it is. However, I wanted to report few things:
1. In the ROM thread in page 128, bandit97 wrote:
So is it just me that has these battery problems?
No matter what my phone is doing. Sleep, Lock, Something, Nothing. The battery continuously drains to zero. After 5 hrs of a full charge just sitting there its dead. Never mind if I do anything. On sense roms and PA 2.99 I get pretty decent battery performance. Is there some tweaks/settings/apps I'm missing out on? I love this rom and its all around performance. But I travel a lot and I just cant afford very short battery life. Its really the only thing holding me back from using this as a daily.
Are any battery tweaks being worked on or available?
Tried
Stock Clocks/1400//BFQ/cfq/Smartmax/Smartassv2/
All the same
Any advice?

I wanted to say I'm having the exact same problem...my battery life has been reduced to about 60% of what it was. It keeps draining even when my phone is on sleep. I checked my battery usage stats (the built-in feature) and it says 50% is screen display (although I have set the brightness to the lowest possible and disabled auto-brightness).
2. I noticed when listening to music, that the media volume levels have a bigger difference than I remember having in Sense. What I mean is, that I often listen to music and the current volume level is too low, but the next higher one is too loud. Is it possible to make the difference more subtle (making more volume levels basically)?
Thank you.
I managed to get better battery performance buy using V6 Supercharge zipalign and turboboost mentioned in response to what you quoted. I also ran my battery right out and fully charged it without turning it on. Then calibrated it. I still don't even get even close to stock/sense, but marginally better. It drops 5-8% overnight now.
What clocks and IO/Governor are you running? Using auto sync or weather? Do you use greenify? Could be a lot of things.
