Vote for the HP webOS (Touchpad) tablet Section! - About xda-developers.com

Please vote to include a TouchPad section here at XDA. Specs are at: http://www.palm.com/us/products/pads/touchpad/index.html
I look forward to seeing whether a dual boot with Android would make this off the hook in fact. I really dig such a lovely device with a longer battery (around 6600 mah) than most tablets.
Please add this one!

This would be nice. im all for it too!

Would love a dedicated section for the Touchpad!

[DEV] Open Android PSJailbreak Thread

Hey all,
As you all know, the PS3 has been jailbroken, but what i wanted to find out is if it is possible to port it to Android Eclair/Froyo for the Galaxy S and obviously other phones, so we can potentially hack the PS3.
I keep on reading mixed views about this, some people say it's not and others say it is, there is a thread in the Desire sub forum about it but i thought i'd start one here about it, and see what we can do or answer.
Desire forum thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=772795
Teensy Hex Source Code: http://github.com/psgroove/psgroove
eavpsp (http://twitter.com/eavpsp) and netzke (http://netzke.blogspot.com/) are currently working on the port, but they need extra help, so post up if you think you can or want to take a wild stab at it.
Finally, who actually thinks this is a good idea?
I'll post updates here as soon as they are released about the JB.
Cheers!
yes, it can be done
RazvanG
would be nice!
Actually really excited for this! Cant wait to use homebrew on my ps3 slim. Wish i had a spare n900 lying around lmao. Hopefully the android port is just round the corner
I jailbrok my PS3 fat today with my friend's N900 and it's worked well, but every time I open my PS3 I need my friend's mobile.
I think I have to wait until they release version for my android

there is a thread on this already. it is still on the front page.

If you're into gaming on you're phone, you should check out the iControlPad. It's a little more expensive, but it has many more features, has upgradeable firmware and multiple bluetooth profiles, and can attach to your phone and even charge phone with it's battery while you're using it. www.icontrolpad.com
I've been busy, but I'm going to post a review of this gamepad soon.

Atrix 2 forum?

Wow the galaxy nexus has a forum already and I know it's a highly anticipated phone but come on, it's not even being sold yet.
The atrix 2 deserves it's own forum. It's really a great device, I know it's not an sgs2, or a nexus device.

I agree with you!
I have to agree, we need a forum to call home so we can separate and figure out what is going on with this device other than hanging out in the OG Atrix forum and hoping people with the Atrix 2 know to go there and look at what is happening and searching blindly for posts that may or may not exist.
Did you guys vote in the thread for the Atrix 2 to get it's own forum?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301121
Go vote! And tell all your friends to register and vote too
Already done that, the only problem with that is that the phones that get picked are the ones with the most votes and I don't think half the people that got this phone know how to even find this stuff or where to vote in the 1st place so it will take FOREVER to get a forum that way. Although at the moment looks like we are in second place. Even still I do feel that is an unfair way to be making forums because the sheer fact of the matter is fanboys/girls will ALWAYS vote a TON for their favorite devices especially the ones that know their way around this forum better than say the noobs that might be coming here for information on their new device.

It was a fun ride

Hey guys, the G9 broke for the second time and I was getting tired of arches poor firmware support, so I jumped ship to the Nexus 7. I've had it for 10 minutes....and I LOVE it! I'll stop by occasionally to give a little support, say hi, and update my root thread. If someone is interested in taking over the root guide, shoot me a PM. you guys have a great community here in the G9 section and some damn awesome developers. See ya around guys.

Not so much goodbye as c'ya later, hopefully not too long either, Google are saying it will complete UK shipping on the pre-orders by the end of next week and there is one such order with my name it The Price in UK Sterling is an absolute steal for such a device, cheaper then Archos....
How does triple buffer butter taste :silly: (I say this adopting the tip-toed stance of an inquisitive child trying to catch an early glimpse of the action. )
It looks like I might be doing another round of 3G Dongle Enabling, if some one hasn't already beat me too it... I should be able to get the archos 3G Stick working with it
What can we say about the Archos Gen9's?
The hardware specification was pretty solid. although the early SD Card based ones could have done with more memory.
The hardware Implementation was "shoddy" and the Archos official firmwares seem to come with they own unique set of issues which is probably down to working around unpredictable hardware behaviour as much as anything else.
Based on the G9 Series ; It is not a brand I would recommend to anyone who just wants/expects there device to work .
I had to repair the Full Size USB Port and My Screen has been "broken" since pretty much day 1, This has been a mixed blessing really as I've found new and interesting ways of interacting with the device.
The Community! There's not many of us that got "tricked" with the Special Developer Edition nonsense.... But I will say this, Some of the Hardware Wizardry that goes on leaves me in awe. Jacking in with UART is not a place I've ever been too but it's fascinating watching this device get owned by some very knowledgeable people ( or should that be pwnd ).
So overall probably 6/10 for the device ( coming from a developers/tinkers viewpoint ) 10/10 for the work that the community have done and will continue to do.....
10/10 for the awesome community and devs for sure! The community on the G9 forums might even be better than those on the Droid INC forums (that's saying something!)
I'm lovin the taste of this butter...never before have I seen such a beautiful android experience!

Ubuntu is coming to smartphones

Hi everyone
I just saw on the site of ubuntu that it's developped for the Google Nexus 4 already. Anybody else hyped for this new fresh OS? :highfive:
They will put the files online and are then hoping on developpers to port it to the devices they want, now I just hope someone from our community would port it to our phone

Interesting
Considering desktop computers don't need dual core, I would assume that the right dev could definitely port this out.
I mean for christ sakes I know that the g1 has ICS ROM(probably 4.1/4.2 although last I saw it was hardly functional, the fact at it booted and is uncomfortably functional is a miracle lol

I got to The Verge from another site, but I can't post the link because I don't have 10 posts yet..(I can't remember which one, I read WAY to many sites about ubuntu ). I think that it might be possible, I mean they stand for an OS that can run on almost every computer, then I think it will be the same with mobile Ubuntu.
Yeah, great... but what it means for us, users? What Ubuntu OS can offer to be better than lovely Android?
Sent from USG Ishimura using connection module
I'm not sure if ubuntu has much to offer to our phones compared to Android... I did like Ubuntu when I used it on my notebook and desktop though but I don't understand the excitement over it coming to phones.
Search on YouTube for: "Ubuntu Phone OS Demonstration by Mark Shuttleworth at CES 2013"
I would post the link but i am not allowed to, due to having less than 10 posts on the forums.
I personally dont like the UI. Also, going back by swiping to the right ? in what world does that make sense ?
I'm only thinking about messing around with it for a while, not to actually use it forever. But perhaps I will if I like it really much You need to be open for changes
i don't think it will be coming soon
you can have linux on android, there is a lot of tutorials on google for how to do it.
